Releasing two games is an outdated and scummy practice

Just release one game that randomizes wild encounter charts every time you start up a new save.

It would incentivize trading to catch them all, and do wonders for replayability.

Game Freak can also focus on creating a good game instead of games with the idea of needing two version that have slight, unnecessary, changes.

When did Nintendo start valuing money over quality games?

the only reason nintendo cares about quality is because it improves sales
the seal of quality was a direct response to the video game crash, which occurred due to an excess of shovelware

You DO understand the deal was a guarantee Nintendo had licenced the branded item and not in fact they promised the game itself was going to be top-class, yeah?
Or are you another zoomie fricker, born after they removed it because "we know consumers know the seal doesn't actually guarantee if a game is good or bad"?

The blame is definitely on the shoulders of TPC executives who do it for free money and ‘brand tradition’. Nintendo is just the apathetic force that benefits from it, and GF are the creatively bankrupt slaves who mindlessly follow the mandate despite having done nothing interesting with it beyond Gens 3 and 5.

it was literally miyamoto's idea though
if he hadn't suggested it, it wouldn't have become a tradition

How about an optional randomizer you can turn on and off whenever you want? Pokemon infinite fusion has a randomizer with tons of options and when you use it it generates a text file that lets you know which mons you can find in each place. And it's just an rpg maker game with hundreds of thousands of mons

I don't know if you heard, but that was the original design! That's part of why numerical trainer IDs are coded into the original game, though you can't see them. Miyamoto asked GF to make two static versions instead because it would be easier to share secrets on the playground, which was a huge reason why games like Zelda did so well.

So how would that handle legendaries? Would it be something like second Gen where you get one legendary early and the second one is caught later? Would you just need to flip a coin and hope you got the one you wanted?

Version exclusive legendary Pokémon weren't a thing until gen 3.

Tell me if this is scummy OP. Remaking Johto and charging $70 but it’s in LGPE.
Remaking Alola charging $70 but it’s in SWSH. Remaking Unova and charging $70 and adding it to PLA. Remaking Kalos and charging $70 but it’s in SV. Wouldn’t everybody be happy?

Why is it scummy? There’s only a small handful of pokemon between games. It encourages trading with friends. With SV you don’t even have to trade either, you can go into your friends’ game and catch their exclusives yourself.

And even if you don’t have friends available there’s a super robust trading community with these games. I think the move of the GTS from the main games to Home is the only particularly scummy practice, that one’s not forgivable in the slightest. But it’s very easy to find people online to trade with.

Take the shaft out of your ass and explain what the frick's actually wrong with the two version system. If you don't like because you just don't, that's fine, everyone has things like that, but I want to understand the other side.

        >I think the move of the GTS from the main games to Home is the only particularly scummy practice, that one’s not forgivable in the slightest.
In the context of dexit, centralizing the GTS outside the game is necessary. It's still available for free.

        For how long?
Also, dexit was not needed and a horrible mistake. There's no reason for the dex cut, the cartridges can still take every last one of the Pokemon.

Oh great, another RNG thing to manipulate so I don't have to trade... Eugh. What's wrong with the two versions anyways? Why is it scummy? You're not INTENDED to buy both of them at once(the two packs are more meant so you can give a game each to a pair, like siblings or a couple.)
I'd argue the far scummier act is the DLC that they're doing. At some point, we won't be able to access that DLC legitimately anymore.
