They are not going to do that, but they'll create an Ultimate Edition that links all 3 Remakes into a single game. The changes will likely be small.

Even got Yoshi-P talking about directing another major title now again, probably from top-down influence. The numbers for 7R scared Square away from classic FF and back towards 15 or 16-style FFs.

What "old" final fantasy ideas, I assume you mean old only because Nomura's FF7 compilation shit is reaching 20 years old but that's not what old FF is, neither is anything after the company stopped being squaresoft. classic MP-style magic, classic FF abilities like Jump and steal, actual RPG itemization, goofy tonal shifts and being willing to have both serious and silly moments, minigames, etc.
That hasn't been a thing in FF since 12 (unless you count the MMO, which is a different beast).

Nobody was scared away by ghosts. People were told that there was going to be a remake for FF7 and received a shitty sequel therefore, a lot of the people who bought part one didn't buy part two. You trying to frame it like that is dishonest, what has happened to FF7 isn't classic, it was false advertising and lies.
You can frame it however you want, that's not what Square is seeing. They're going to abandon core FF concepts moving forward to attract modern audiences after 7R3 is finished. It's better to realize this now so it's not some stupid shock when 17 and 18 happens.
FF has already moved towards a modern audience with 16.

They could easily put together a full actual remake with all the assets when they're done where it plays out 1:1 after the events of 7R. And they will.
Haven't played the original, haven't played the first, the second and third remake and I would totally not play a fricking woke circlejerk re-remake.

At a minimum, use the 60 FPS mod and the one that restores the correct music to the Tifa-Cloud lifestream flashback "true" moment that's been messed up on the PC version since the beginning and only fixed via mod within the last year.
