that's all you need to make it
one week of beign the next big thing
then you retire
If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're putting forward an argument that games should be an ongoing paid service.
t-The devs are our bros and isn't a streamer fad! a-And I got my money out of it! Totally not regretting anything!
>I got my money out of it! Totally not regretting anything!
I did get enough out of it for what I paid but the dev are enormous fricking homosexuals who dropped everything like a hot potato once they got their normalgay streamer crowd cash.
I got 201 hours of this game, now I'm done with it.
How long do you want a game to last, anon?
if you played it for more than 10 hours, yeah you got your money out of it alright. You zoomers really can't comprehend a game that doesn't force you to play it for years nonstop?
Yeah it might have worked if the devs didn't learn from the Minecraft school of development cycles.
I've basically just forgotten about it.
valheim is an amazing 20$ game
devs are stilly lazy homosexuals tho
The balancing is ass I rage quit my solo play through
Valhiem monsters
playing right now
game is still popular you dumb homosexual
30000 players is not the next big thing. is just another barely popular indie slop game that no one outside Ganker and discord knows.
Who the frick said it was the next big thing and why were you gullible enough to believe them?
>barely popular indie slop game
huh
Angels city survival game
>1 new biome in 3 years
game updates slow as fricking piss
>Never finished it on release
>Buddy wants to play it again after they add more updates so we stop
>Every time I ask to play they say nah
WHEN
HOW MANY UPDATES DO YOU NEED
ITS BEEN A YEAR
Literally me. Game really hasnt got enough new things to merit playing it again, waiting for more stuff before I try again.
I have my backlog and I have no hurry to replay it, but will eventually
Frick you, go play with your friend if they want to play
>HOW MANY UPDATES DO YOU NEED
>ITS BEEN A YEAR
bruh valheim goes years without any updates
mistlands released exactly one year ago
and since then?
a dozen little updates adding a new vendor, post-release updates to the mistlands, some seasonal stuff for halloween and midsummer
its quite literally had a single meaningful update. Of course your friend doesn't wanna play.
Well I frickin wanna fight the last few bosses already
they them pronouns rope yourself already you fricking zoomer homosexual.
Bro, this game continuously has 100k players playing at any time. The fact that some indie shit can achieve this is making the devs cumming with success.
Well my friends have dragged me into a second play of it since one can't afford a new game and the other wants to ignore everything other than building, so it endures in some way.
I like making big, complicated bases and it probably has my favorite building system out of any of these kinds of games.
i played this when it came out and had some fun, thought about coming back after they added mistlands but read they nerfed everything or some shit and only added a handful of things to build mode.
>That didn't really pan out
? it was huge
people dont have to play games continuously for them to make an impact
its fun multiplayer get friends
It was FOMO around January '21, then quickly dropped off the radar.
I didn't know that it resurged last year.
FOTM*
I loved my first playthrough of it with my bros, played another one recently after about a year and a half and the flaws really start to become obvious, we didn't even make it to the mistlands because everyone burnt out.
it starts out so good, the meadows and the black forest are peak comfy and reward exploration then it goes downhill and never recovers from the swamps onwards
>entire swamp zone revolves around mining slime in claustrophic dungeons
>you need to farm a stupid amount of it to progress
>once the slime is mined you move onto another dungeon to mine more slime
>finally move on to the mountains, comfy at first but frequent mob attacks become annoying very quickly and the zone outstays its welcome in record time
>oh you died? heh enjoy running back to your corpse with 25hp and no cold gear
>can't fight half the mobs properly because the game is incapable of letting you aim up or down in melee and because of the nature of the biome everything you fight is on a different elevation so you can't hit them
>they can hit you no problem though 🙂
>move onto the plains where it's literally just team deathmatch, kill goblins for black metal but for some reason the padded armour requires iron so you have to go back to the swamps to mine more slime so you end up barely using any of the current zone metal
>comfy farming and atmosphere but it quickly becomes obvious that's really all there is to the plains
it's peak atmosphere and building is satisfying, but it's crazy to me that the devs just don't seem interested in fixing the core issues. it's cool they added new dungeons to the mountains and points of interest to the plains but if players are getting bored before they even get to these late game zones then whats the point? the swamps are the main problem, I think theres where we found the novelty wearing off the most just on account of the ridiculous amount of iron you need
you really gotta make a mountain shack to survive up there, which is unintuitive given making a swamp shack is just asking to lose your shit
The combat in general sucks ass. It's just, time parry correctly on the small enemies, and epic dark souls roll and kite all the bigger fricks while shooting them. Shit sucks just like the developers.
As soon as the realization hits that literally the entire game is grinding, it becomes impossible to enjoy. There is no joy in finishing an area, because all that earns me is the privilege to grind even more somewhere else. Hit rocks, hit mobs, hit trees, its all the same.
swamp is where playing solo basically becomes impossible. I feel like mountain should have come first difficulty wise, the fricking terrain is the real filter
i can do swamp just fine solo, never progressed past the swamp as weird as that sounds though
as soon as I hit the mountain i get my shit pushed in and logout
>>peak
you are one y'all away from becoming a troony zoomer fr fr
>only thing anon takes away is the terminology used
u being deadass rn?
Swamp too hard
>level ground
ez gg
do you still have to slog through swamp dungeons and swing a pickaxe at piles of shit to get iron? that shit was such a blatant way to pad game time, it was really obvious once you got into mountains and silver was as easy to get as copper, hell even easier because you could just throw it downhill to your ship.
yes the swamps haven't changed at all apart from adding 1 miniboss which are more annoying than dangerous. the dungeons are just as shit as you remember them but you can turn up resource rate if you want
Does it still have un-linked storage containers and laggy landscaping?
What an ugly turd of a game. And it does nothing interesting with the survival crafting genre either. Even Grounded mogs this game lol.
still play and greatly enjoy it, haven't even made it halfway through the current content, and they're still adding biomes. it's one of those games that is much better with friends
Amogus was able to escape FOTM but not Valheim. Why?
it was a very big thing, and is still very popular
kys
It got copied by Lego Fortnite and 3million people are playing that right now
I "finished" it with cheating by spawning resources and teleporting around for the later areas
would've been tedious grindy pointless hell otherwise, that got really old by the 3rd boss
Remember six days ago when 50% of all the posts where about a fricking trailer, and now no on fricking cares?
People spam when "new thing" comes along. It means fricking nothing.
>People spam when "new thing" comes along. It means fricking nothing.
it meant a lot in this case as valheim was overwhelmingly popular and is still highly popular
you did not make the point you set out to make. you spoke up just to be wrong.
>you spoke up just to be wrong
[reddit spacing]
But it's not spammed right now is it?
[reddit spacing]
Whether or not it's still popular now or never was, IT, being the spamming, meant nothing in the context of OP being a mongoloid.
[reddit spacing]
If you had more than four brain cells you would understand what I wrote.
[reddit spacing]
Your retort meant less than all the spams on this site combined. You couldn't have looked more like a fricking moron if you did it deliberately.
lmao BOOTYBLASTED, didn't read, gg no re
Thanks for proving me right.
see, you guys are playing skyrim when you're supposed to be playing the sims
The Sims looks like that?
in valheim it does
building in valheim is fun but it's an absolute slog without mods or absurd material grinding
very good for $20, many hours burned with friends
it has more players than starfield right now
>swamp
>knee deep water everywhere, so movement is slow.
>leeches swim in said water, low enough to miss if you try to clear them from dry land without ranged attacks.
>permament rain, thus permament wet status cutting down your stamina and health regen even with food buffs.
>permament rain/wet also means no campsites without first plodding down a workbench for roof.
>Fire arrows useless because of rain.
>high damage draughs everywhere, unaffected by wet status, because they do not use stamina.
>poisonous slimes bouncing on the surface of water.
>Stealthy abominations as pseudo boss fights in unfavorable enviroment, interrupting your explorations.
rain/wet also means no campsites without first plodding down a workbench for roof.
Bonfires burn even in rain.
you can use the hoe to level out the ground to make traversal 100% easier, and the atgeir trivialises draugr (and many other mobs)
>you can use the hoe to level out the ground to make traversal 100% easier
I wouldn't advise spending much time on this. Once you've cleaned out the crypts in the immediate vicinity, there's very little reason to need such a path. Swamps are pretty disposable because there's next to nothing on the surface. Unless you want to collect coal directly from the little surtling spawns.
hunting abominations makes it worth it. I like the armor you make from their bits, and the trophy is nice decoration
you can occasionally find scrap iron nodes on the surface in the swamp. I think the dowsing rod will find them
Not NEARLY enough. It's not like silver veins in my experience where it's a ton in one spot. They put a mound or two sporadically, and it's not worth searching for unless you've cleared every convenient crypt near to you.
Honestly if they hid more iron outside of crypts, my desire to start over would be much higher. God iron hunting is miserable.
>use the hoe to level ground and make pathways
>swamp reeds mark shallow water
>don't sprint when you don't have to to save stamina
>2hd hammers destroy slimes due to theri knockback and large AE damage
>abominations can be parried while standing on surtling flames to rapidly melt them
>leaches can be easily beaten by jumping towards them in shallow water while starting a power attack midair
>invulnerable trees and the tops of crypts make great areas to build shelters
It's definitely the worst biome, but there's plenty of tricks to make it more bearable. The iron grind is the real reason the swamp sucks and it's best to use mods or world modifiers to turn the iron collection rate up.
Did anyone else pick it up again for the mistlands. We beat it and realized we'd be waiting another year and a half for an update. Swedish devs are easily some of the laziest motherfrickers in existence and it explains why they can't produce anything.
These indie devs who make the smallest changes take years unironically makes me want to learn game dev. It has to be the most monumentally challenging thing if it takes a year to make skeletons but this time slightly darker. And I'm pretty sure they are not even in the game yet.
Shitty indie devs are either motivated by money or a love of video games. Something truly great can only be created from pure hatred of current gaming.
>Did anyone else pick it up again for the mistlands.
no, i'm not playing it again until they finish all the empty placeholder biomes, and by then i'll be a senile old man who won't remember this game.
I got my money's worth and still play it. Though I won't pretend I'm happy about the state of it.
Only good with mods
The cackleheim mod is cute. You get to play as gnollsny4448
Remember the times when you bought the game and that's it, no content updates ever? Yeah me neither lol. Give me updoots every 2 weeks I need more content I need to consoom I need new videos speculating about next update, new skins to buy consoom bros have you seen new update it's so cool so hype steamers love it next week new update consoom consoom consoom
