DOAX2 is the only one I enjoyed thanks to the jet skiing. All the other mini-games in the series, including volleyball, are pretty boring and repetitive.
Koei-Tecmo will never make another Xtreme game in that format. They tried, remember? It didn't go well. They, and many other developers, are in love with the business model of gacha games and aren't going to go back to something that requires more effort and less profit. VV has been going for 6 years or more at this point. A non-gacha Xtreme game would have died at only 2, maybe stretched to 3 years.

They tried to unleash their dlc scheme which would have seen two sets of suits released each week. The less lewd of the 2 would be available via in-game currency. The lewder one would be paid-only, and the prices were outrageous, especially if it was something you wanted to put on each girl (there were 9 in X3). Japanese fans infamously torn Hayashi a new one on a live stream of the announcement, forcing him to apologize on camera. They cancelled the scheme after the first set and released the rest of the dlc for free, but clearly KT were pissed at the lost revenue and immediately started looking at other options. They eventually added special paper (that you had to pay for) that would guarantee your suit would be accepted by the girl. After that, they hit upon the gacha thing and that was all she wrote for X3. Now most of VV's content can be had by FTP players, and the game itself is free to download. Only birthday suits and a few pay-to-win options are paid only, but there is a thriving community of whales who pay a fortune for that and keep the game alive. You don't have to pay a cent to do well in it though.
My issue with VV is that its boring as shit

What the frick is the point? How can waifugay whales be satisfied by this shallow shite?

It's like a harem anime/VN with mild interactivity. Venus Vacation has provided a lot of characterization you don't get in normal fighting games. Seeing the girls acting out SoL scenarios is a change from constantly threatening and kicking each others' asses. And you really don't have to devote a lot of time to it. There's enough autoplay features now that you can set it to running with a couple mouse clicks and go do something else while it completes your daily missions for you. Then come back, buy whatever goodies you want with the currency you just earned, snap a few photos, fap and turn the game off for the day.

Some of the scenes are much longer than that. Hitomi's scene where she brings you a homemade lunch is straight out of an anime date scene. That said, Owner-san is the silent protagonist archetype, so they can only do so much. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing, but it's more direct interaction with the girls than you got in any Xtreme game. Heck, until X3 the player was not a presence in the games, they were just going about their activities while you watched and guided them. It was more about developing yuri love between your chosen girl and her partner.

I played X3 extensively. Got each girl all her own suits and the suits of all the other girls and was taking on the much slower grind of getting all the dlc suits on each of them before I got fed up with it all. It was just grinding for Owner cash at that point, doing the braindead Poolside-Rest-Quit thing over and over and over.

I haven't played VV so this isn't in comparison to that, but playing X3 pisses me off because all I see is wasted potential. The vibes of that game are immaculate but 99% of it is just menus followed by some breif gravure scene. Imagine a comfy vacation sim where you could explore the island, where the casino is more fleshed out and the girls have evening gowns, with some sort kf reason to improve your volleyball team besides grinding away for points. More outfit customization options. I think there's a great game in there but what we got was just minimum budget
