The village and coincidentally the portion that would be in the demo feature the most faithfull portions of the remake, but the moment you get past the house fight the cuts start becoming more frequent and significant, for example instead of the cable car section and the fork in the round with the sisters or gigante that you can backtrack through are cut down and removed so instead we have that god awful run to the castle.
The new side activities feel like really lazy tack ons, the beams on the dock literally just disappear in front of your view when the fish jumps you.

Leon is way too slow for a special agent and even compared to original game when it comes to running. Ammo drops for shotguns or SMGs are reduced, forcing you to play as if it's some kind of survival horror game with your pistol when it's not. New stagger system is unreliable. It loses it's charm when it feels like a sloppy copy of RE4 and RE2R combined. Knife parry is cool though but that's about it. You could do it against projectiles in the original game funnily enough.

The stagger system is busted cause the Devs did that thing where higher difficulties break and massively subdue core game mechanics because now you have a parry, so they felt the player was safe at all times and as such staggering doesn't need to be reliable on HC and pro
People played on Pro not because it was difficult but because it removed adaptive difficulty. RE4 was always an easy game now Pro forces you to play in a very specific playstyle. You could finish Pro with just Punisher in the original. Now you can't without hitting your head to a wall repeatedly.

Ammo was a plentiful drop, Krauser used to die to 5 knife attacks. U3 is a challenge but normal enemies already died to one headshot and 1 kick so you could get constant strain of pistol ammo. If you lacked a certain weapon category that meant game gave you more ammo for your other wepons. U3 arena was also filled with barrels. Only issue is Saddler which is filled with chests too. You can also wait for Ada to drop rocket launcher.

Hmm I used all of them but the Punisher which I can only imagine has been improved by being able to aim while moving and can't say I agree, nor was I lacking magnum bullets, I'd always get some before bosses and you can always craft if you want to save up gunpowder. No fire grendades is stupid though especially since they improved the fire mechanics with the molotovs

Silver Ghost used to pop zombie heads off with 50% crit rate upgrade. You could oneshot Salvador if you are lucky. Two if you weren't, now not only crit rate is reduced you also can't oneshot them anymore, crit only does little bit more damage. Punisher is weakest pistol because you can't stagger enemies with it anymore. Same is also true for Matilda without stock. Red9 is garbage due to massive reticle bloom, you will miss point blank shots. Striker has no range now. TMP is not only a peashooter now due to lack of staggers but also highly inaccurate. Half of your shots will hit the wall. MP5 is worse. That leaves only few viable weapons in the entire game

It's not. I saw my Red9 or TMP missing enemy in front of me and hitting the wall that's at the edge of my reticle lol. Reticle bloom means your shot can end up in anywhere within the reticle. 4.8 accuracy of Red9 in the stats is bullcrap.
Tmp has a random spread yes, but as a man whose aim has gone limp over the years I can assure you the red9 is dead center accurate, during my playtrhoughs I simply ignored the bloom mechanic, I might half wrong here though cause it could also just be the stock that makes it accurate, but try one of those Max Payne dit apps or reshade maybe, you'll see guns are reliably accurate here
Oh also forgot to mention that miss your mentioning is part of the reason I b***h about center screen projectile origins because upclose the system and crosshair frick with your perception, essentially you're aiming relative to Leon no your screen so you're just barely shooting over and next to people
What do you consider viable exactly, I've beat the game on Professional using the Silver Ghost and it was fine, it still has a good crit rate and I can't say I've had problems with the Red9 aiming even at full bloom. With the Striker you're swapping firepower for attack rate and ammo, I agree it's pretty useless in regular gameplay but it has it's use in speeding through areas, TMP murders shit at close range, haven't used the new rifle or MP5 but they're new additions anyways
Sg and punisher, eliminator and magnums just don't carry the same value they did though by invalidate I simply mean they feel weak and or less unique than their counterparts, also unique capstone upgrades got homogenised here and there

I wasn't even a fan of RE4(I even thought it was overrate and still do to an extent). But playing RE4 before Remake only made Remake's flaws more appearent. RE2R's shortcomings are acceptable since they aren't even same genre compared to original for example but RE4R just feels like a worse version of a better game when it's the same genre as original.

the structure of the games changed. 1-3 would dump you into an overarching scenario and then kind of let you approach it as you saw fit, with many decision points on how to proceed. It was for the lack of a better term, neat, organic. re4 really sands that aspect down to the only pressing decision you'll face being the immediate encounter, once the combat is done you have one route to proceed. to be fair to 4 I think this is partly due to the fixed camera angle lag of 1-3 making the game seem more ponderous than it actually was. alot of the supposed depth gets removed when you can immediately process where both directions of a fork in the road lead.

You homosexual realize that a button to turn back instantly is not advanced tech and every modern RE game has it? I did knife only playthrough of OG RE and Remake RE, on keyboard and mouse too where the modern controls suck. The movement options of RE4make match perfectly in terms of reactivenes and speed, down to the tuning animation, but the ability to instantly turn 90 degrees help avoidance a lot, which is why QTEs aren't a thing.
Also if you actually knew how Krauser in the original plays you would know that it gets trivialized by literally spamming the knife attack. Krauser is really hard to stop, requiring magnum rounds or shotgun shells to the leg, but completely irrelevant with knife spam to the point that the original boss fight lasts 20 seconds

The game also looks worse than REmake 2 and even has worse gunplay.

She sticks on your ass enough, I have no idea what the use of the loose formation is though, I'd rather know where she is at all times than hope she makes the right choice in where to go

OG ash is much much less of an issue as she is here, also the escort mission meme isnt very accurate, she literally defies many of the pitfalls that escort ai usually do by barely being a hindrance in og, if anything her design complimented many of the larger set pieces like the water room

I can only speak from my own experience, but I destinctly remember having to wrangle Ashley repeatedly in the original as her ai would bug out around crowds of enemies. In the remake having an option for her to follow you at a distance made keeping track of her as well as keeping her out of harms way much less of a choir. I played RE4 remake on normal my first playthrough and Ashley didn't die a single time, can't say the same for my first OG RE4 playthrough even though I was younger back then.
I'll give you the benefit, but that's a first for me, keeping her safe in og just doesn't faze me as problem cause she mostly just stuck to me each playtrhoughs, and when she did get grabbed it wasn't exactly tough getting her back. Still I do appreciate hearing an opinion that surprises me

The only things I didn't like the 4Remake are that they made Leon so stiff both physically and socially and the ammo drops are curtailed so significantly you basically cant use any of your fun guns. Leon moves like he's 50 and has arthritis everywhere compared to the original. And he talks to all the women like he was written by an early 2010s M'Lady male feminist. Its even more bizarre in they kept NuAshley having a distinctly flirtier and flirtier tone with him as the game goes on but he's still over in the corner M'Ladying it up. Its just bizarre. Other than that it was fine enough.

Unironically yes. RE4 isn't a survivor horror game. You kill more ganados in RE4(even in remake) than you do in the classical trilogy + their remakes combined. Wanting RE4 to be RE2R when you kill 50 zombies in it total is just total nonsense. That's why remake doesn't work and original works. Original doesn't try to be artificially survival horror with limiting your ammo drops(you never run out of ammo btw, it just creates that illusion). It embraces being an action game and that's why it's a timeless classic. RE4R is fomo that's already forgotten.

Every enemy also takes one hit to stun. Which makes it good since you can roundhouse them consistently.

The video is mostly iconic moments from across the game, which seems to me a reasonable spread of bits to compare. And if you're comparing the original to a remake, the remake had every opportunity to do what they wanted based on the source material so I don't think you can call a comparison unfair to the remake at any point, but especially with those iconic moments you'd assume they'd take care to make them as good as possible, so I can't see that comparison as biased.
If it was background elements that players are likely to miss, then sure I'd call that cherrypicking, but there's a lot of memorable setpieces, bossfights and cutscenes in the video.
Well the very first part of his video cuts out the cutscene showing that the guy isn't a mindless zombie and goes straight to where he reappears in the basement, I haven't watched the whole thing nor would I want to list everything I think is wrong with it anyways and I know it's not his style but I just think if he'd explain in words what he thought was wrong people wouldn't be as upset

people are just brainlets, like one comparison he did was showing how a ganado gets stunned in OG and doesn't react at all in remake for the opening and the comments mostly took that as him comparing the fricking placement
