Remember when Atlus and Nintendo announced a crossover between SMT and FE? How come they never released this game?

sadly they did, as J-Pop idol bullshit
???
This has nothing to do with either SMT or FE. Am I missing the joke here?
there is no joke, SMTxFE got rebranded as Tokyo Mirage Sessions:
I need to sniff the panties of a high-school girl... Let her sit on my face... Please....
Well in the westoid versions those girls were aged up to 18 to not offend troons and other degenerate pedo hypocrites
>why yes, I didn't play the game. how could you tell?
look at
and tell me with a straight face that is a crossover
I don't see anything resembling SMT or FE, but feel free to prove me wrong.
It's actually Persona x FE, that help accepting it a bit
then why are there no persona characters?
It's inspired the persona battle system/concept, basically
FE character used as stands
It's...something, for sure.
>literally SMT combat system with the FE weaknesses displayed on the right
>there's nothing resembling SMT or FE here wtf!??
I don't get this shitty meme, what's more Persona than SMT about this game? At worst it lacks the demon fusion system and is more about crafting weapons, but overall it's much closer to SMT than Persona.
then explain why no one in the initial trailer showed up:
It was a trailer to announce a crossover between SMT and FE, so they showed the characters, since what else is more inconic than that? You wanted them to do a trailer with what, two logos?
The game went through many iterations before it became Tokyo Mirage Sessions, so the concept wasn't even clear when they showed this announcment trailer.
>The game went through many iterations before it became Tokyo Mirage Sessions, so the concept wasn't even clear when they showed this announcment trailer.
Then why announce it at all? Why couldn't they wait a year or two? It's not like people were actively expecting SMT x FE to be a thing.
Or at least make a more neutral trailer, ffs
i feel there's been a move away from announcing games so far in advance in recent years and i like to think it's shitshows like FE x TMS that contributed.
>Then why announce it at all?
Mayne the god awful launch of the WiiU pushed them to announce something to reassure players, I don't know.
>no way you don't get the difference between SMT and Persona
It's because I do that I don't see what's Persona about this. Where's the calendar system? The Tarot cards?
It's Persona because..? it has colors? Ever played Devil Survivor? Or even Strange Journey? SMT can have colourful worlds and always light hearted humour with demon conversations.
>a team of human characters gaining skills from a "persona"
>not a team of monsters you control
>"it's totally SMT duh, nothing similar to persona"
Dunno what the color have to do with it
Funfact:that wasn't a trailer made by the devs, that was a trailer made by Nintendo of America.
Go find the japanese Direct and compare.
and? That doesn't negate the fact that hype for a game that would never be was generated
>get mad at game devs for not fulfilling a promise they made
>the promise was actually made by a completely different company
>"and?"
You shouldn't be mad at Atlus and NoJ/IS. You should be mad at Treehouse.
>You shouldn't be mad at Atlus and NoJ/IS
I should be because they should of said "no" to that initial trailer and allowing
to be branded as the crossover
>NoJ having say over NoA directs
lmao
Once again, go compare to the japanese direct.
If you're too lazy to find it, it's an old man walking out and saying that Atlus and Intelligent Systems are collaborating on a game, arigatougozaimasu.
Dishonest post, no way you don't get the difference between SMT and Persona
NEARLY as dishonest as the og trailer shown there
, but that take the cake for sure
Still mad. Will never not be mad.
moron.
Why do this game's defenders say this game doesn't have idolshit?
because they are dumb.
Hell, there is this:
>released on the Wii U
>flopped
>got ported over to the Switch
>flopped even harder
It's insane how that even happened considering the success of all the other Wii U ports.
the unnecessary censored US version of SMTxFE was used for the global release of the Switch port.
It was necessary they censor it, there's no way it would have sold in the US without censorship.
I would argue that censoring SMTxFE cost sales
They censored things like a wedding dress, bikinis, and cleavage in a rated Teen game.
far too dangerous for nintendos audience to be exposed to these things.
>it had to be censored to sell
>censor it
>doesn't sell
>then censor it for all regions
>sells less
You have brain rot.
It's a niche product. The population this game would have appealed to tend to be staunchly anti-censorship. The game ended up having neither mainstream appeal nor niche appeal. They screwed themselves on both ends.
They ported the censored Wii U version from NA to the Switch. Even Japan got the censored version for some reason. Considering this is already an extremely niche product that appeals to a niche crowd, pissing them off just makes the product appeal to nobody.
TMS was basically an exercise in alienating every possible audience
It's impressive how far it goes out of its way to dissuade FEgays and SMTgays while claiming to carry both banners at the same time.
I genuinely can't even tell who this game was meant for, because it was not ho it was advertised for.
According to some interviews, Atlus had wanted to make an "Idol-themed JRPG" for a while, and Nintendo wanted in on the Persona bandwagon.
So nintendo wanted this shit? Or they were desperate for anything persona?
Well they suffered until recently thats for sure.
The only thing TMS represents in the spirit of both SMT(persona) and FE is that it was the power of waifus attracting virgin losers to put both franchises on the map, much like irl idol girls do
Nintendo wanted "whatever persona has" without understanding what that was, so they gave Atlus access to their Fire Emblem IP, who then proceeded to use it as a pantheon similar to how each Persona game has a pantheon for its main characters.
The rerelease was done so terribly that Fire Emblem Heroes has never run a second TMS banner, despite it having enough content for two banners and a seasonal banner or two.
Hell, I want Idol/Magical Girl banners. Just not of the TMS characters.
And being honest, TMS is a pretty good "Idol-themed JRPG". It has a lot of little touches to its menus and combat system that really sells it.
It's just a damn fricking shame that it was advertised as SMT x FE. And it was released during Treehouse's censorship reign. And it was released originally on the failed Wii U. And its re-release was marred with Atlus's usual incompetence ruining its second chance. Poor game is a fricking comedy of errors.
You only hate it because it's an exclusive to Nintendo. Good thing for you is that same developers behind this are turning Soul Hackers 2 into a pseudo sequel of TMS FE#.
>Souless Hackers 2
I hate that too
>You only hate it because it's an exclusive to Nintendo
holy shit, how moronic can you get? None of the issues of the game are because of it being WiiU/Switch only
They did, and it was a pretty good game.
Honestly, I think that the Devil Survivor series gameplay would have been the perfect starting point for the crossover
Sex with Tsubasa (17).
IS was supposed to collaborate as well, but Atlus was in shambles at the time and Nintendo pulled back from the project. Same thing happened when Atlus contacted some rhythm game devs for Persona dancing, they eventually ruined that partnership and made it themselves since it had already been publicly announced.
Meanwhile they took the funding from Nintendo and used it on P5, their ticket out of the hell they were in. They replaced that with an agreement with Avex to shill their talent, and duct-taped up a scrapped Vita RPG to half-assedly run on the Wii U. Remember this was supposed to built exclusively for Wii U, yet battles could have loading screens nearly ten seconds long, and even the pause menu had to load.
Slap some Fire Emblem character names on Persona design rejects that had absolutely dick similarity to those characters to fulfill the crossover aspect and voila. The baffling self-censorship choices, I dunno what the frick they were thinking there though.
They were thinking "lol Nintendo's gonna go 3rd party soon so let's frick them over for some easy money. They definitely won't be successful with their next system and certainly not to the point where we have to port persona to it."
lots of lies and bullshit in this post. Load times were long because the Wii U was slow (shocker.)
It was a linear turn-based jrpg allegedly designed for the Wii U alone. Xenblade X would let you fast travel to a different continent, even without the hard drive install data, faster than TMS could load a fight against a generic enemy.
i bought a wii u (albeit half-off) for this fricking game
We expected Mainline SMT X GBA FE, but got Persona X 3DS FE
Hopefully SH2 goes the same route
Hell I'll like it to do even worse just so that team is finally disbanded
And their name erased under the sun
What people claim they wanted (they didn't actually want at all)
>A complete dogshit nonsense direct cross over game like Project X Zone that was 100% guaranteed to be dog shit terrible
What people ACTUALLY wanted at the time:
>SMT fans just wanted SMTV with some faceless npc called Marth in some dark corner of the game that just dies the instant you talk to him
>FE fans just wanted FE14 where instead of the typical zombie like enemies they just use the Ghoul demon from SMT and that's it
Anyone who claims otherwise is fricking pathological liar, absolutely no one in existence actually wanted a legitimate cross over as there's no real overlap between those to games and their fan bases.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions was honestly as good as it could have ended up being, it was just dragged down by the censorship caused by Wii U era Nintendo.
>implying SMT fans wouldn't enjoy a third Devil Survivor game with mechanics from Fire Emblem
Than that would have been a Devil Survivor cross over, not a mainline SMT cross over you moron.
You're pretty much admitting you weren't interested in the original proposition.
Read:
>Anyone who claims otherwise is fricking pathological liar
That announcement came at a time when SMT was only coming out once every 8 years and people weren't fully sure if FE Awakening actually saved the series or not, so people were in the two mentioned camps:
>SMT fans just wanted SMTV
>FE fans just wanted FE14
Anon, DS battle system is litterally the answer to "what do you get when you mix mainline SMT turn based gameplay with FE strategy one?"
Sure, they should have worked on it a bit
>Anyone who claims otherwise is fricking pathological liar, absolutely no one in existence actually wanted a legitimate cross over
t. moron newbie who wasn't even here when the news first hit
people were excited day fricking 1 homie
your greentexting is gay homosexualry too
are you a TMS fan who's bitter about the hate it gets "for no reason" so you lash out like this or something
>a bad way to make the crossover exist so it's good we didn't got the actual crossover
moronic take, just make Devil Survivor 3 like some anon said but with various characters from the franchises and maybe the FE weapons gimmick and you would have done something good enough
You're admitting that you didn't give a flying frick about mainline SMT or Fire emblem, you just wanted a Devil Survivor 3 which is something unrelated.
It's clear how blatantly flawed the original proposition was and why they scrapped it and went with another direction. If all they were going/wanted to do was a Devil Survivor game they wouldn't need some BS cross over to begin with.
I just said DS3 to explain fair and fast the type f gameplay they should have used
They story/character etc... should have been 100% related to mainline SMT/FE
And to be honest yeah, DS3 would have been better then this garbage (:
vegana bones
What exactly was her complex?
Needs dick, but too old to be cute.
Maiko is very cute in a filthy, used up kind of way
>Could've just made a Devil Survivorp game in a medieval setting
>Make J-Pop shit instead
From what I heard, the original crossover was going to be the opposite, a Fire Emblem game in modern times.
Sounds like it could've been interesting honestly
The sheer amount of obese weeaboos clustered outside of Gamestop on release day would create a singularity.
They released it and the 25 dollar credit they gave for owning SMT4 and Fire Emblem Awakening gave a deep enough discount to SMT4 to make it worth buying.
TMS was fine but I wish we got a game where FE style characters summoned demons instead.
The worst thing about TMS is that it's clear that they just wanted to make Persona, but refused to go all the way with it and have the calendar system, which is the only thing that makes Persona's VN stuff fun.
>FE style characters summoned demons instead.
That was literally SMT4
They still did FE14-FE16
They still did SMT4A AND SMTV
You were never going to get Devil Survivor 3
(You) never actually gave a frick about a cross over.
>That was literally SMT4
We should've gotten SMT4 2 (SMT4A doesn't count).
>>FE style characters summoned demons instead.
>That was literally SMT4
FE style characters who stay in a "medieval" setting for the entire game is what I meant.
Tell me your secrets to self-induced and targeted memory loss, OP.
>morons are still mad about an NoA-cobbled together slideshow and a video game that only ever existed in their heads
It reminds me of MGSV.
The trailers for that game caused a lot of speculation and fan theories, and the initial hatred towards its release was that it didn't confirm most of their fan theories.
It wasn't until later that we saw stuff like the Chico concept art, or the cut final level.
So much goalpost moving, god damn.
I still have engraved that day vividly on my memory, when KOWASITAI went live I was In awe, how the frick did they fricked it so hard?
