Aqua is too niche even if she's the best at that niche, Darkness is needed because a tank or distraction never hurts, Explosion is something that seems useless and impractical but having the ability to wipe out something way above your paygrade is better than having someone who is the overall best but useless if you meet that paygrade. All adventurer scrubs who don't realize that are losers who aren't strong enough to clear out the trash ahead of time.

it's not meant to be taken seriously. the author made a "recurrent" joke (I think it only happened twice) where Darkness "forced" herself on Kazuma (he pretended to not like it while not making any effort to avoid it) and Megumin interrupted them at the last second. Kazuma also implied that he wants to have a relationship with Iris when she grows up.
