Path of Radiance was an attempt by the japanese at kowtowing towards people who they rightly saw as shartmaxxed dirt-eating barbarians with no taste or sense. The American normalgays were never going to buy these games so it was a dumb idea they didn't repeat. The sequel got a bit weirder which is good.
They *did* later with Awakening find an audience in the West. By being way more Japanese they got more discerning Westerners on board, which is something the japanese seem to be bad at and generally confused by. They don't know how to deal with weird neurotic internet people very well.

It's a very dull and slow game. A bit *different*, but not too much in a good way. If you ask me, very uninteresting as a "game" challenge, very light and unambitious as multimedia, one compelling character. Really not worth it at all. Just look up fanart of Soren if you're a homosexual.
All Ike talks about is how poor people and warriors are the only ones you can trust, how 90s movie racism is bad, how he believes in friendship. He's a total 180 for a series that had given us characters like Ephraim as hero protagonists before.

I've enjoyed every fire emblem game I've played (PoR, RD, SS, A, 3H) I thought the supports in awakening unlocking new hybrid Stat characters and paralogues was good but acknowledge that the pair up and infinite xp grinding can trivialize the game even on the harder difficulties.

I like to think that the Tellius games had the right idea when it comes to how to level up units despite the linear structure as there isn't much in the way of arenas or infinite fodder battles. Bonus experience is a great way to reward players for going out of there comfort zones to get more and you can distribute it to whoever you want however you want. The Tellius games aren't perfect, but I appreciate that it rewards you for playing better with less tedium in building units.
Dividing the Fire Emblem franchise into 3 eras, Path of Radiance features the most refined gameplay of the middle era while also being among the best representations of the era as a whole.
