People can all cheat on competitive games for a reason. You can play as female in them. Surely those old games will make a better use for competitive scene nowthat they're brought back.

The next step was the profileration of the gaming pcs and phone games, and with it came free to play games with optional purchases, and slowly but surely it turned into full-priced with the same optional purchases.

Right now it’s Fortnite, a few years after CoD it was Minecraft. and FNAF. A few years before CoD it was Halo. It’s a tale as old as time. I say this as someone who thinks Fortnite sucks.

I still have only played CoD twice in my life and never bought a single one.
I played it at a friend's house and got called a Black person because I thought it was like Quake and shot people with a rocket launcher.
Also it is a known fact that shotguns are a staple of the FPS genre and any community that hates them is trash, which can be said of codgays.

Cold War was pretty fun. Less cancerous than MW2019 for sure. But it was still extrenely jank and shitty in a lot of places and was a pretty disgraceful end product. Last truly great CoD was Black Ops 2. BO2 is one of the greatest multiplayer shooters ever made in my eyes.
MW19 SnD and Ground War using Mara is the only time CoD has ever been good.

MW 2019 was the reboot the series needed, but Warzone ruined everything. Last good COD was Black Ops 1, everything else has ranged from mediocre to garbage

Probably BO2, that was probably the last time online was actually fun.
I liked cod, you run around, empty your clips everywhere and there are always explosions and stabbings, on console you spent even more rounds which is fun.
I didn't like CoD and the shooters it inspired because I thought that it was a step back from the open/sandbox shooters we had at the time. We used tp have large maps with multiple objectives and mechanics in play, but it turned into an arcade movie shooter where you just push X
I can never get into FPS games. Straight shooters, and especially boomer shooters, are just braindead boring to me. The gameplay is always so shallow.
I didn't hate call of duty I just got bored as frick of it by the time the very first black ops came out because the gameplay was the same and not changing in the slightest
call of duty hasn't been good since the 1 and 2. as soon as it hit modern times it was ass.
cod was fun in middle school with the boys but i never bought the season passes so eventually i would go into cycles of slowly just playing other games until the next cod came out. who even started the practice of basically paying double the price for game+season passes?

just checking steam charts, call of duty and destiny fail to surpass a 15 year old hat game on PC. Halo infinite is unable to beat MCC and battlefield has been run into the ground and is losing to battlebit (there are times where BF5 and 2042 combined are half of battlebit, the peak today is so high not even adding bf1 is enough to put it in BFs favor).
it's not sustainable cause no amount of FOMO can keep players forever when the game is just not good.
also FPS has been doing great on the SP side too.
I mean, Fortnite and PUBG have both made billions and billions of dollars, so if your argument is sales, then that doesn't really hold water. Fortnite is the big boy now just like CoD was during its heyday. Battle Royales are absolutely destroying traditional FPS in terms of money and saying anything else is simply denying reality. When you said 'dead-end,' I thought you meant in terms of the genre, not just sales.
even PUBG is not even really played in the US anymore, no one talks about it, its a game almost exclusively for getting RMB, though i will concede fortnite is doing fine, though they don't release live player numbers. (and id wager fortnite is far from it's peak, but i can be wrong)
it's not the future of the whole industry, being that only a few can even survive and many can't hold players as well as traditional games.
