Remember when people were upset they were getting rid of the old Dreads? This is why; the last 2 Dread releases have either been monopose or had no extra building options.
This company is starting to really go downhill.

Its to frick up bits sellers online
Soon they will be just one piece that will be impossible to really kitbash etc
Just j*w tactics really.
That's why everything in mono-pose
They go with monopose because it lets them make cooler dynamic poses that make for more alluring marketing
Like the one in OP's picture?
Like all the ones with flowing cloaks and tabards that have to be modelled on to the rest of the body to look good
The Ballistus is the way it is because it was made for an edition-launch box-set. The other Primaris dreads have poseability.
>The Ballistus is the way it is because it was made for an edition-launch box-set.
That’s the problem. Without war gear in the game they don’t need to add more options in the box. They can sell only 1 model and call it a day.
NTG but he's saying it's monobuild because it's a starter box model, just like how the helbrute from dark vengeance was monobuild, even though 7th edition had wargear options.
Thank god Heresy doesn't do any of that 'it's dumbed down for starter boxes' nonsense.
>starting
>starting
just sell a pre build slab of plastic at this point LOL
shills and jannies get the rope first
>implying you'd ever build a pure ranged dread other than double las cannon and missile launcher.
missing absolutely nothing
moronic Black person above.
Anyway, the plastic boxnaught has been scanned for a few months now. Ask your hombres or check for some shmuck to repost it on cults, and bam, infinite dreads.
Yep. They’ve been going this way ever since the golden age of bits and posing that was 5th ed. but /tg/ is pro consumerism and you have proud brand shills now, because people need to tie their identity to brands they consume, so there will be a lot of defense of this shit.
>Implying GW won’t sell a separate upgrade sprue and sell it for 50USD plus tip
No building options? What does that even mean?
Lurk more.
they're too goddamn big. the shitty new dreads are bigger than frickin leviathans, and those were already too damn large
literally no fricking way you don’t own one of those old cardboard boxes Unless you’re the newest of newbies
>Starting to go downhill
Bro, the game has been dead for a couple of years, just use china forge to get old models and play 8th edition, that is the current scene in my city and has been great
The Dread before that was posable and has build options though.
Is nobody going to mention that James decided that the walking tomb needed a tactical rock?
Does anyone even notice the rock anymore? A model without a foot on a rock will be a stand-out centerpiece soon enough.
>implying the classic plastic dread didn't have a molded rock base
It came with a moulded base, the basing was not part of the model. The foot of the Balistus is the same piece as the tactical rock (with no extra 3rd foot included) and the hips of the dread are pivoted to fix it in that pose, compared to the old plastic Dread' which had a completely neutral pose and feet, which could just as readily but stuck to a plain base (since the rocky base was designed to be flat across the top anyway)
jfc what a joke of a kit
>The foot of the Balistus is the same piece as the tactical rock (with no extra 3rd foot included) and the hips of the dread are pivoted to fix it in that pose
.........sorry for assuming GW couldn't be THAT moronic.
Wait wait wait. Is this the entire OP sprue?
That + the base (w/ holes for pegs on the feet) are all the plastic in the kit, yeah.
That'll be £42.50. Plus tip :^)
Contemptor mogs this kit so hard, lol.
That's what you get for being kiddie's first war game.
They're more sprue than model now
>full posability
>arms premade for magnetizing
>several options for loadouts
40kiddies seething
>weenie hut jr vs super weenie hut jr
Not him but the contemptor has full posability with a double jointed waist and fully flexible limbs and I’ve seen some very dynamic poses with them. The 30k equivalent to the ballistus, the deredeo, is also a better kit even though its monopose because it has options between stationary or moving
The new Guard tank doesn't have a bottom. The new Solar Auxilia stuff has internal modeling. The HH stuff is just way better.
Not to mention the Leviathan Dreadnought
You're still buying it so obviously you arent that upset.
nahhhh, the new plastic contemptor, leviathan and deredeo are all exceptional kits. it's just 40k that's been downgraded into 'you homosexuals will buy anything' status
I miss walking boxes. Frick their long taylor swift legs
>starting
Isn't that the monopose kit that comes in the starter box? surely there's a new kit that has more options, right?
RIGHT?!
Take the new arms and put them on a regular redemptor body. It’s literally the same.
The same spruce is shown on warhammer site.
Because frick giving modellers an easy way to make your models their own, amirite?
>spruce
>the starter kit dreadnought is monopose
Gee I wonder why
>melee dread is fully posable
>plastic leviathans (2) are both fully posable
>plastic contemptors are fully posable
>plastic deredeos are fully poseable
Just buy models from the better game.
agree Horus heresy> 40k
I agree with you
But how long before GW fricks that up too?
They probably won't, seeing as how they have decided to have AoS and 40k as their accessible brands, and TOW and HH to serve veteran players. It's a sensible strategy, tbh.
So this is the same one I can buy off eBay but for less money? Why is GW being moronic, they’re just making me want to start 3D printing for custom poses and bits. I wash originally going to wait and buy the box of new Infernus marines but then I saw they were the same poses from leviathan and snap together. No thanks.
The exact same one on eBay you can get for like $20-$30 dollars yes. 100% the exact same sprues.
Not anymore, resellers want $50 or more now, not worth it for such a basic b***h model.
Holy shit you were right.
putting together plastic model kits is annoying as frick anyways. would prefer just 2-3 big solid pieces that snap on or you glue together anyways
>t. Don't know how to use a breadknife
I have always wondered what the endpoint for Warhammer as a brand will be, but it'll probably be action figures, funko pops and lore videos.
Peak miniature construction design, skaven are the best as always
Let me guess, you "need more"?
Yes.
Alternate heads to give a bit more variety to the mob. That's all, really. You give 4 bodies and 4 heads, all of a sudden you've got 16 distinct dudes. Easy peasy
Orc boys are a bad example, i really fricking hate their poses
>thread discusses the merits of modular kit design
>"I dislike how this model looks"
literally braindead
Wait, what's wrong with them? It's just your standard 'angrily waving weapons' pose
I prefer the models to be more tame when it comes to poses, marching/at rest
2nd dude from the right is having the time of his life
>starting
It’s a new model.
Yes. That's why it's shit.
New model, same monopose/push fit. Not like the old Dread kits that you had weapon options.
This model is just weird all around. The combination of Redemptor legs (which might be even longer?) and Boxnaught non-arms makes for a very unpleasant silhouette.
Let me guess, you need more?
>starting
Awful awful.
