Considering they have a full support line implemented in the game (and viewable in the library), I feel very confident in saying that Olivia was very likely meant to be attainable earlier in the game originally, but for whatever reason (maps getting cut or shuffled, story changes) Olivia ended up being pushed into the final map of Part 1. The devs didn't want to axe all the work they did for Olivia/Chrom content, so they just left it in.
I wouldn't mind a full on Awakening remake for the Switch actually.
I mean I feel mixed on it. Of course I'd love it if it ended up being good, but I'm not entirely confident that IS would make the changes necessary to really elevate the game. And plus I'd rather see a JP only FE get the remake treatment first, either 6 or 4 ideally.

I agree. I was going to mention it but didn’t bother. Most of the time it’s easy to make them better statwise than their fathers but the lack of 1-2 PRFs or the high MT of the fujin is the only thing that makes then worse than their fathers.
It was dumb but it was still thematically relevant to the plot since the deep realms reside between Valla and the normal world. It’s even plot significant to the Heirs of Fate DLC. That said, I don’t think it was the original intention since Camilla says to Ignatius specifically in her version of his mother support that when he gets to be her age he’ll understand what she’s saying even though they should be roughly the same age. You also get weird stuff like Orochi talking about how Lady Mikoto will be impressed with the Norhian ore she found even though she always joins you after she’s already dead

Most of these people that say this shit haven’t actually played Fates. They’re just morons that have a stick up their ass about Fates and shitpost about it. There’s literally no way anyone is cognitively disabled enough to love Awakening but hate all three Fates games
Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is the gold standard. It’s tightly designed and difficult with good map design. Fates: Birthright is easier, but still has the same mechanics as Conquest though the game doesn’t stress them. Fates: Revelation is more of Birthright but with every unit from both games minus a couple, most of the maps rely on a unit locked ability (Dragon Veins) making the maps more annoying since they expect you to use the lord units. Revelation might be permanently unavailable on the original hardware now since you can no longer add funds to the eshop. Awakening is the predecessor to Fates, rougher around the edge mechanically, bad maps, but it’s still a charming and enjoyable game overall. Shadow Dragon is probably the most ugly game in the series and the most difficult but it’s just a remake of FE3
They play pretty differently. It’s hard to explain but they all have different design philosophies, stories, and differing content. I’m one of the few that enjoy all three games but general consensus is CQ > BR > Rev and you’ll probably have the same opinion.

Considering they have a full support line implemented in the game (and viewable in the library), I feel very confident in saying that Olivia was very likely meant to be attainable earlier in the game originally, but for whatever reason (maps getting cut or shuffled, story changes) Olivia ended up being pushed into the final map of Part 1. The devs didn't want to axe all the work they did for Olivia/Chrom content, so they just left it in.
I mean I feel mixed on it. Of course I'd love it if it ended up being good, but I'm not entirely confident that IS would make the changes necessary to really elevate the game. And plus I'd rather see a JP only FE get the remake treatment first, either 6 or 4 ideally.

IS are one of the few developers I trust to make a half decent remake because, for better or worse, they don't rest on their laurels when it comes to FE. With Fates you don't have to worry about passing down the right stats, because all the child units are garbage no matter what you do.
Velouria and Ophelia are great. Percy, Soleil, and Rhajat are really good. Sophia and Shiro are above average. The rest are meh to bad with Ignatius and Hisame being particularly bad.
Honestly the royal kids are only bad in comparison to their dads. Kind of hard to stack up against the most overpowered Fated characters with busted PRFs though.
I agree. I was going to mention it but didn’t bother. Most of the time it’s easy to make them better statwise than their fathers but the lack of 1-2 PRFs or the high MT of the fujin is the only thing that makes then worse than their fathers.

It was dumb but it was still thematically relevant to the plot since the deep realms reside between Valla and the normal world. It’s even plot significant to the Heirs of Fate DLC. That said, I don’t think it was the original intention since Camilla says to Ignatius specifically in her version of his mother support that when he gets to be her age he’ll understand what she’s saying even though they should be roughly the same age. You also get weird stuff like Orochi talking about how Lady Mikoto will be impressed with the Norhian ore she found even though she always joins you after she’s already dead

Ideally, yes. the kids usually have bigger class and skill pools and breeding is the only way to pass powerful skills that would be otherwise impossible to get like Rlly strength, Axefaire and Galeforce

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is the gold standard. It’s tightly designed and difficult with good map design. Fates: Birthright is easier, but still has the same mechanics as Conquest though the game doesn’t stress them. Fates: Revelation is more of Birthright but with every unit from both games minus a couple, most of the maps rely on a unit locked ability (Dragon Veins) making the maps more annoying since they expect you to use the lord units. Revelation might be permanently unavailable on the original hardware now since you can no longer add funds to the eshop. Awakening is the predecessor to Fates, rougher around the edge mechanically, bad maps, but it’s still a charming and enjoyable game overall. Shadow Dragon is probably the most ugly game in the series and the most difficult but it’s just a remake of FE3

They are concurrent releases. Three different games released at the same exact time. Think of them more as remixes of each other

They play pretty differently. It’s hard to explain but they all have different design philosophies, stories, and differing content. I’m one of the few that enjoy all three games but general consensus is CQ > BR > Rev and you’ll probably have the same opinion.
