        Alternatively, just pirate it
I'm expecting fallout 4, anything beyond that I will be pleasantly surprised

How is SF being a gamepasd game anything but a good thing though? You could spend only 1 dollar to play it, or the regular 15 bucks, to try it out and see if its shit. So you pay 1 dollar and see "oh well it is shit" and you drop it and dont care.

its bad because gamepass game design is like overwatch 2 game design, heres a free game and now we're gonna nickel and dime all the best content in it

But who is to say the game would have been any different if it wasnt on gamepass? Lets say gamepass doesnt exist and the game still comes out as a janky, MTX money gouging machine, who do you blame now? Infact wasnt FO76 out before gamepass and was also a piece of shit game with MTX to the brim?

I don't want to rent games nor do I believe games being developed under a rental model is going to bring any positive changes.

But the game was developed regardless of external inputs. The game is coming out no matter what, if its shit you can see so for yourself. Whether that be by buying it yourself and seeing first hand, renting it very cheaply to see whats up, or by watching various videos/reviews for free.

I don't want to rent games or support such business model, if I wanted to "try it out" I'd pirate it.
F76 is a perfect example of executive meddling creating an abomination, it was entirely zenimax's idea to force online shit into a company that never cared about online and had no online engine capabilities.

No it isn't. The game will be for sale in other places and the game pass is just one avenue people will play or buy it and make money from subs of it. Other developers go there and they are free to sell elsewhere as well for a chunk of money upfront. You're just wrong.

It isn't designed for gamepass dipshit, you can buy it in other places. You should expect something more akin to Creation Club and typical DLC which aren't things that werent designed for gamepass. You don't know what you are talking about, you should just stop.

wasnt fallout 76 made by the b-team studio that usually did misc work on the games like additional models and textures?
im not defending bethesda here but it was very clear that fallout 76 was not made by their a-team.

right, but its the same leadership making these decisions, not the animators or whatever.

Monetization Designer is a real position at Bethesda Austin. This guy took a break in 2021 but is now back at the studio as of last month. Since he's working at Austin rather than Rockville and has never monetized a singleplayer game before it's much more likely he's still working just on 76.
In short, it's not the same people making Starfield.

Yup, we're just waiting to see what form they'll take. It could just be the creation club shit again or it could be that they'll try to support the game longer than the usual one-year DLC cycle. I'm not expecting an Atom Shop equivalent.

It wasn't even B team, Fallout 76 was made by BattleCry Studios and published by Zenimax, month before release Zenimax renamed the devs to Bethesda Austin, Todd was only a figurehead to promote it, everyone involved in this was transparent about this but these people are arguing in bad faith so here we are.

That means game director, moron. Todd had the same title when working on Morrowind. Unless you assume there was a secret game director involved in that game too.
Todd is officially credited as executive producer on Fallout 76, and reports from employees say he didn't work on the game much within that position. Just came to meetings and shat on ideas then left to go back to working on Starfield.

so according to the credits, it wasnt the B team then

                Anonymous

It wasn't solely the B-team no. Apologists will try to deflect to Zenimax and Bethesda Austin but even Todd has come out to say he feels Bethesda as a whole disappointed people, he feels responsible.
That being said, plenty of core issues came from those two groups. Zenimax was the one to force a GAAS game onto what had always been a singleplayer studio (they did the same to Arkane which led to Redfall, as well as MachineGames and Wolfenstein Youngblood), and BattleCry/Bethesda Austin were the ones in charge of monetization and changing the engine to facilitate multiplayer - the main reason why it was so buggy at launch. The core Bethesda guys at Rockville were creating the assets and writing for the game.
The Kotaku article on the whole thing is a great read, shows how development went wrong in so many ways and how most developers and especially QA hated working on the game, probably more than players hated playing it.

Lmao at the salty "source" whining that Todd would shit on and shoot down his horrible ideas.
In programming the sign of a good project manager isn't in how many lines of code he adds, but how many he removes. The same applies to design.

They're already offering player and weapon skins as preorder and deluxe editions. For a single player game. From a developer who usually design their games for first person first with the option of third person as an after though. And plenty of cosmetic mod support.

It's a mixed bag. I know comparing to FO4 is a low bar, but gameplay wise it does a lot of stuff better, and the map, weapons, armor and enemies were a lot more interesting than FO4. It's also just plagued with shitty MTX and stuff to pad out the grind like gold bullion.

I've seen more enemy variety in just the showcase of Starfield than in actually playing Fallout 4. Look at just the non-human enemies alone:
                >Deathclaw
                >Radstag
                >Mirelurk
                >Molerat
                >Bloodbug
                >Bloatfly
                >Dogs
                >Ghouls
                >Yao guai
                >Supermutants
                vs
                >45+ different alien creatures

Thats exactly what it is. It's player skins for their spacesuit and weapons skins. Shit that's usually the first thing to come out from modders for their games.
It's insignificant, but the question is why did they bother in the first place? Such low effort content to entice people to preorder or buy the deluxe edition.
