Was there even anything that bad about Cata?
I think it just had the unfortunate distinction of being released at the time when old players were finally starting to burn out after vanilla, TBC, WOTLK and the death of the Lich King feeling like an ending for many.
>be me in cata >roll a new warrior for old times sake >hit level 10 after 20 minutes of play time >get shield slam >charge a mob that is 2 levels above me, use shield slam >mob dies instantly >quit, uninstall wow and never play retail again.
Visually it was bland. The sense of community was dead in Wow. It started before Cata, but it was the first expansion that started fully from that base. Largely the fault of cross-realm lfg. it opens the game more rampant ninja looting or being dicks because you'll never see them
If Classic has been any indication, its not the cross realm bullshit as much as the game just isn't developed to be a continual social experience. That's what happens when your grindy dungeons are 15 minute rush-fests and your raids are once-a-week and frick off after cracking open your loot pinata. I made some good friends in classic, but god damn do I wish they wanted to play something else.
Class reworks I found unpleasant.
Dungeon difficulty filtered millions of wrathbabbies.
Raids kind of sucked, but most of wrath raids sucked too they just had better aesthetics/more cultural relevance.
World pvp fully dead forever.
>Dungeons too hard
Oh man I anytime they add content thats hard and cant be braindeaded with lfg people lose their minds. Shame to I think the biggest issue with modern MMOs next to no more social interaction and them becoming single player games is they are so frickin braindead easy until you get to the super hard insane level 10 difficulty with everything before being for mouth breathers. But thats why. When content gets hard it makes the average player hate it.
People don't play games to see how convoluted of an unpublished script they can follow. The biggest barrier to entry for this kind of shit is the developer placing an assumption on new players that they're intimately familiar with how everything is supposed to work even though the game doesn't teach you that shit, and no one wants to teach you.
I mean the game is literally basically unplayable at a high skill level without 3rd party addons screaming the actually important information at you.

>Remember when WoW was the biggest game in the industry
No, because that was quite literally never the case. FIFA was always ahead of it from 2004 and beyond, as were other games like GTA4.
I did orc heritage quest >thralls wife's son >moronen centauren tier cooking and gay ancestor ghosts >le white people spices joke >women qouta everywhere >disney orc cringe
Fricking hell, I hope I never touch this steaming pile of shit again.
It’s cool how MMOs were so expensive and bad that they killed like a whole generation of western RPG series because every publisher wanted to make expensive live-service mush that the casuals and addicts will eat right up
I unironically trust Riot. They have managed League competently over the years, they have proven they can break into other genres while understanding their appeal with Valorant, they are taking their time and making sure not to rush something out and overpromise shit that they won't deliver on.
Why. riot has never made anything unique they have stolen every concept. even their biggest skins sales are stolen ideas.
Riot is an ubershit sad company they will never make a great game just mediocre soulless trash like valorant which maybe pulls half of cs gos playerbase and will only decline because its made by riot.
Riot is a trash company and this mmo will be dogshit like everything else they make. the only people who think this will be good are riot wienersuckers who have some strange attachment to riot for no reason at all
The Riot MMO will focus on PvP. It will be more like Albion Online.
The people that are still chasing the high of playing WoW during its early days will be in their 40s by the time the Riot MMO releases. Players today want PvP and not another grindy WoW clone.
That's great, world PvP was the best part of vanilla WoW.
I doubt it though, it will probably be a hugbox for fragile egos like every other modern MMO.
Yeah and? It's over now mmos are dead.
He wasnt lying when he said he was the cataclysm
Was there even anything that bad about Cata?

>Was there even anything that bad about Cata?
the pvp zone having a player limit in a fricking MMORPG
"updating" the old zones.
The raids were awful, especially the Dragon Soul / Deathwing raid.
only after ultraxion , rest was your usual raid
>Was there even anything that bad about Cata?
They revamped all the old zones expecting everybody to level alts. When everybody had already been doing that.
Broke the continuity between the old world and then new. Making old salts knowledge worth dick.
Like...5 zones to keep the max level players occupied.
Main threat was a mad dragon aspect. After an expansion where we literally slew a mad dragon aspect. Yawn.
moronic Garrosh Hellscream shit.

No, people just started playing better games like league and cs

Was there anything good?
Making clunkier playing clones of the same game for 15 years isnt exactly the brightest idea publishers ever had.
I'M A NIGHT ELF MOHAWK
MMOs were always shit.

you should post that about the 24/7 crapcum generals we got here
or the e-morons shilling we have lately again
This isn't a general.
There's a difference between a general thread, and a thread about a game that also happens to have generals. This is the latter.

No, because that was quite literally never the case. FIFA was always ahead of it from 2004 and beyond, as were other games like GTA4.
I mean they were mostly right. Live Service games still rule the market.

wow lost
The Riot MMO will be what WoW was back then.
>The Riot MMO will be
Yea, maybe when it releases in 3-5 years.
I unironically trust Riot. They have managed League competently over the years, they have proven they can break into other genres while understanding their appeal with Valorant, they are taking their time and making sure not to rush something out and overpromise shit that they won't deliver on.
Their fighting game makes me believe otherwise though, they seem completely out of touch with that one.

Nice, the recipe for unavoidable failure.
Will combine the 2 things nobody wants, Disney tier artstyle, no story and nothing to do.
That's great, world PvP was the best part of vanilla WoW.
I doubt it though, it will probably be a hugbox for fragile egos like every other modern MMO.
>The Riot MMO will focus on PvP.
Into the trash it goes.
4 strength 4 stam leather belt?
They were the future
That future is now our past.
What's the next savior of MMO genre after Bless?
Zuckerbergs thing, modern mmos want you to treat it like a job so might as well make the next one a job that makes you treat it like an mmo
