Same boat, was half way through my bachelor's and booked it from class to gamestop for the midnight launch. Had a group project to focus on so I didn't have time to play until a couple days later and I caught a bad flu so I wasn't feeling up to it for a bit longer, but when I did get to play I couldn't put it down and gave myself a headache from staring at the screens for 6 hours straight while still sick. I just really loved how much more you could do compared to previous generations - pet your pokemon, feed them by hand, play little games with them, dress up your character, actively EV train stats with super training, pss made battling and trading quick and easy, the handful of ridable pokemon were a nice touch, roller skates for diagonal movement and tricks. Basically it's the closest the games ever felt to actually living in the pokemon world.
A romhack of XY that adds all of ORAS's new/returning stuff plus following pokemon and seasons would be my perfect feature-complete pokemon experience.

I ended up with a shit degree and worked retail until I landed a huge tech job. Hang it there, not because it gets better, but because there's no real alternative until society changes.

Unfortunately my degree was not as valued as my professors led me to believe, even in a major city. Not even a single interview after 3 years of applying. I have a stable job but it barely pays the bills.
I am pretty happy all things considered

OP Here, and yea! I saved the money up and pre-ordered that thing. it was absolutely mental. my dad picked up a poster, too. that thing is still on my wall to this day.

Based on your levels, you're still at the early game. From my experience, the games drop off after the second Gym due to poor pacing.
Curious to see if your mind will change as you progress.
Inkay is one of my Gen 6 favorites, the rest of the team looks fine too.

The sharp low poly 3D is so nice to this game map and I still don't know how the frick Gen 7 ruined that.

Don't forget Matière's post game, it's one of the nicest arcs in the main games even if many haven't played it.
