Sure but I don't think it's those same officials who are telling game companies to move into a service model.

    that's ok
I just won't play those games
I probably already didn't play games from those studios

  3. 3 months ago

That is genuinely embarrassing, do all those studios really expect there's going to be enough room for all of them to coexist? Blood bath incoming

Frankly I agree, gacha games are the best the industry has to offer. Non gacha games are just garbage most of the time, while gacha games are okay at worst, with the strong foundation of being Literally Free compared to a $70 dead service game.

There is enough room for all the gacha games.

        >There is enough room for all the gacha games.
no? small or shit gachas die within the first year. most gacha players also keep themselves to a limited amount of them and there's only so many of then

Most gacha games are designed to not take up a lot of time

          Anonymous

Only if you're willing to pay. The average gacha model says you either spend a hour or two doing daily chores or drop a $100 or so on rolls every couple months.

it's been a blood bath for fricking AGES, tho
halo infinite, gotham knights and that new suicide squad game are some good examples off the top of my head

Report may as well say 90% of studios have decided to burn large amounts of money and jack off into the flames.

  9. 3 months ago

Yeah, and my bet is that coincidentally 95% of the studios in question are actually phone shovelware "game" studios

is this news from 5 years ago?

publisher think live service games work as a concept,
but in reality you have to make a successful game first and keep players interested by adding new stuff

  11. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

The vast majority of these will fail. Despite how popular gaming is there's just not enough players to keep all this gaas shit going. The popular ones will absorb players from all the failures.

Ironically the more live service games that come out, the worse all of them will do as a result. These games are designed to drip feed content to people who give them lots of attention. The average gamer can really only keep up with maybe a half dozen if they completely no life on games. Worse still, the games are often sold for really cheap, intending to make their money back with DLC during the drip feed, meaning they won't make as much as a typical complete single player experience. Also, lots of these games are designed for multiplayer, meaning half or more of the content only works if there's a huge playerbase, which there won't be.

    tl;dr everyone is getting fired

    Wtf is live service games?

zoomercore games that are designed with constant "updates" in mind, releasing with barebones content and giving you a little more each update. Also, most of the extra content costs money. They're why we have so many threads here that say "What went wrong?" when talking about a single player game that has a low playerbase, after everyone already bought it and finished it. Zoomers are used to games being constantly updated with drip fed content.

When I thought game as service were bad (release shit game and patch it along the way), now we have a new reality, those patches are the DLCs, otherwise you get a bland game.
So, the game actually costs 70 Bidens + (4 * 29.9 Bidens DLCs)
