Resident evil 2

>Got the bolt cutters
>Gotta backtrack through the very first corridor
>There's zombies entering like 5 windows before I can board them
WHAT THE FRICK IS THIS DIFFICULTY SPIKE, should I give up and use all my shotgun ammo to clear this part?
I don't think I'm good enough to shoot everyone's legs off it's a small space and the first zombies would catch up to me crawling and grab me.

You don't kill zombies you disable them.
This has always been in the series. The only game that breaks this rule is Village.

people love to parrot this, but I killed literally every single zombie in the game on hardcore on my first playthrough
I snuck by all of the lickers, though

That's not how its meant to be played but obviously its possible.

You just got to nut up at this part OP. I remember getting my ass kicked too, use shells strategically and if you have a grenade use it when it gets desperate

I think you'd have to be very fricking good to disable this one though. As soon as you enter the window's field of view, the first zombies starts the unstoppable animation to enter. Once you shoot it, it alerts the other zombies who will start coming.
Also I miss a frickton of shots aiming for the legs and even after succeeding, that zombie will stay alive and crawling.

I dunno maybe I really should start using the shotgun to finish them off. I swear this must be the hardest segment of the game, I'll have to blow my ammo, otherwise it's impossible to get to the chained door.
And I probably don't want 5 zombies inside that corridor anyway for future backtracking.

sounds like your using too much ammo trying to disable them. Just go for their head until they fall and blow through to the next zombie you gotta deal with. Might not be the best advice, but worked for me. Also headshots with shotguns is devastating.

You can kill every enemy in the game though unless you play the hard difficulty. You can do this in almost every RE game as long as you're not dumb with ammo.
      >The only game that breaks this rule is Village.
RE4??? You're encouraged to kill everything even more there.

Lol, no. You poor dumb zoomer. There's only a certain number of zombies that even spawn in the game. You can kill all of them with ease.

In the original RE you literally were supposed to kill every zombie and the game gave you powerful weapons to do it. Bullet sponge is a new thing for speed running trannies

No, it LITERALLY has not been in ANY game before these nu-zoomer evils came around. You have not even played RE1-3 + CV.

Eliminating every single foe in classic REs is more than just doable. A literal child could do it back in the late 90s.

      t. I was 9 when RE2 dropped.

is it still possible in the RE 1 remaster? The very first zombie takes half my ammo as Jill.

The shotgun and magnum have a very high insta kill zombie %. As they did in the original.

            thats in remake 2 too
with the shotgun you just have to get close

Like the other anon said, the shotgun is almost always a 1-hit kill if you aim up for a headshot, but the handgun is really only suitable for zombies and dogs, because zombies are slow and dogs flinch on each hit. Hunters are too fast, and spiders don't really matter since most just hang out on the wall and go skitter-skitter.
So, use your handgun ammo on zombies and dogs, because anything else is asking for trouble.

Pretty much, there is waaay more than enough ammo to kill everything in almost every RE game. Even the original.

Shoot zombies in the knee it will stun them momentarily and you can run by.

Anyone else have weird texture issues on this game, specifically on the floors looking fuzzy? Especially in any room with water on the ground like east wing first floor of police station? This shit is so obnoxious and I don’t understand it. Playing on ps5, it happened with the ps4 version no matter what but it goes away if you play the ray tracing mode on the PS5 version.

I think it has to do with the TV settings. Not sure if it was the same issue, but mine was acting funny with Dynamic contrast activated

      THIS IS FRICKING STUPID

I HAVE 48 HANDGUN AMMON RIGHT NOW. A zombie falls off the stairs in front of the dark room so I have to kill it.
AND I HAD 32 AMMO BY THE TIME I WAS DONE WITH IT, ALONG WITH USING SOME OF MY KNIFE DURABILITY.

Ammo doesn't do enough damage and it's also way harder to aim, I don't know why, the enemies move too much and I just miss the laser aim from RE 4.
RE 4, that's a game in which I barely missed shots.

I think I wish hitboxes weren't so accurate. Like the zombie is getting up and I just miss my shots by less than a second because the part I was aiming for just barely moved.

You playing on console? These remakes are piss easy on PC. I played 2 on Xbox and had a hard time with killing stuff. Played 3 on OC and turned into John Wick for some reason.

Yes. But also I'm stupid, the ammo looked much lower because I recharged the gun.
Replayed it and took 6 less shots anyway.

This might kill some of the video game magic but I remember reading somewhere that RE2 had adaptive difficulty so that when you had lots of ammo the enemies took more of it to kill them so you use it up and get the impression they are unstoppable monsters. When you’re on low resources the enemies get easier and you get more crits to give you the feeling that you’re “just scraping by”. I may have gotten the specifics of how it works wrong there but I’m sure there is something like that going on in behind the scenes.

Yes, all nuRE games have adaptive difficulty.

Maybe dodge them all and deal with them later. Maybe find a nade to deal with the group. Save nades, acid and incendiaries for mobs. Don't waste ammo on bad zombies that can be easily dodged, juked, or snuck past. Zombies in open areas are easier to dodge without having the play the juke game. Use shotgun for point blank headshots for instant kill. Maybe I'm wrong, but I never shoot limbs, only head. One to the head if I need to stagger them and run past, or I go all the way for a kill.

Just chill out, game isn't that hard and you should be fine as long as you aren't a complete moron.

    >use all my shotgun ammo to clear this part
Use your handgun and hit then on the leg first to cause a reaction, shot enough to stun them sometimes is just one shot, them you hug them and shoot the head with the shotgun.

    >ammo to clear this
You don't have to "clear" the game (although that's more than possible on Normal). You just shoot the zombie in the head, and run past it when it flinches. You're not here to exterminate all the zombies in the city. You have objectives, and you can just beeline from one to the next to save yourself time, ammo and medicine.
