Agreed. 6 was so fricking over the top it was moronic, it was like the boulder scene from 5 but 24/7. But 5 was amazing coop with a friend, genuinely some of the funnest multiplayer I ever played.

Zelda 2 isn't even remotely bad, you gay. The babbies spouting this shit haven't sat down to actually finish it. When they do for the sake of saying they played it for the argument, 99% of their criticism is just "I didn't have fun" but without any actual criticism.
It was top tier until around code veronica, then RE1 remake came out and catapulted it into goat status then zero took it downhill again. Resident evil 4 came out and it made the series take a nose dive. It didn't come out of that dive until re7. It's anything but consistently good
I don't like Revelations, and I think people tried to jerk it off too much because it was right around the time of 5 getting a lot of shit, and 6 on the horizon
I remember when Ganker tricked me into playing Rev 1 way back when, saying how "great it was". >Literally just 1 fricking enemy to fight >Shit story >Shit characters

Everything after 4 that wasn't a remake was awful. They turned every character into literal fricking Marvel heroes while moving away from the dark noirish survival horror theme of the first 3. Survivor and 4 were good deviations from this but it should have never become the main goal of the franchise. Village 2 was OK. You also left out Operation Racoon City. It's easy for you to praise a franchise when you're completely ignorant of what makes its identity and of the series's failures.
ORC is a spinoff and rarely in any series are spinoff actually good. Zelda and Mario both have some wretched spinoffs. Also i think both revelations games were quite solid
How many series have pioneered as much as RE? >popularized and codified survival horror as a genre >showed how to do a proper remake that’s considered a masterpiece, on more than one occasion >made over the shoulder third person shooters THE standard >helped make coop shooters a big deal >made one of the first true AAA VR games which helped a struggling medium
Few can claim this much
Both of this can be true. The problem is that RE abandon it's core thematic style and gameplay when it ran out of story telling ideas. They panicked with Code Veronica and Survivor. They didn't know how to tell a story without Raccoon City and frankly they still don't. That's where the story should be. That's where the real world and character building has always been. The mechanical execution, graphics, and story telling in the remakes isn't what puts them over the top. It's the fact that you're home. RE without Raccoon City is Mario with Bowser.
I thought 7 was a step in the right direction plot wise, it is odd how reluctant they are to include zombies, of the non remake games post 0, only 6 had them and revelations 2 had them in barry’s sections
For someone thay really doesn't care for 7, I still applauded them have restraint with the story for the game....until it ended and I my eyes rolled into the back of my head and then with 8, my eyes rolled so far back, I saw portions of my brain. Honestly, RE4 story of just ditching everything for its own thing was a godsent and I wish we got more RE games like that.
without a doubt and a snow balls chance in hell it was bad. I dont get why people even attempt to say "maybe it was a little bad?" this was a REMAKE game of a greatest hits title from the 90s on psx and they fricked it up to the point its a skidmark on their remake brand title card.
I'm interested to see what it is. I don't think they will catch lightning in a bottle twice, nor will it be a 1:1 remake. I'm just hoping for a fun game that I find myself replaying, much in the way that I love both 2 and 2Remake.
7 has references to revelations by showing a book obrien wrote, it even references alyssa in outbreak. Village references 5 too and so does revelations 2
>RE1 classic >RE2 fantastic >RE3 very good >REzero underrated >RECV flawed as frick but still fun >RE4 masterpiece >RE5 awesome with a buddy >RE6 bad but has good quality's >RERevelations good >RE2 Revelations 2 alright >RE7 awesome >RE8 great >RE2 Remake awesome >RE3 Remake bad remake fun game
RE is a series that no matter what always has soul even at it's weakest
I am sure 4 remake will be great and I hope 9 will be awesome.

RE3R isn’t actually a bad game when looked at in a vacuum, it’s just not as good as the original, but as a solo experience, it’s a competent if short game
it's obvious if it wasn't by now that the team just wanted to get to 4, what I'm curious about at this point is if they'll keep going and remake 5, and if they'll completely change the tone of the game to be less like a cheesy action movie if the do.
god i hope not, 5 had the perfect balance of cheese without going too self aware. just imagine all the wesker scenes with reamek 2 & 3 style 'serious' writing
As a huge fan, I disagree. Sure, for numbered games, there's only a few bad games, but dear lord the spin off games are not just bad bur some of the worst games I've ever played.
resident evil universe: >t-virus single handedly destroys an entire city just by entering the water supply >umbrella says it's a failure for some reason and they can't effectively abuse it as a bio-weapon >at the same time, characters make contact with infected biomatter every second of the hour, Claire Redfield literally gets a g-virus bukkake stabbing G Birkin in his G-eyeball >no one gets infected from this
the real world: >someone coughs for a bit and everyone is losing their minds over covid
Disagree. The games are scattered brained like a child told to set down with ADHD and no adderall. > lets be
a goofy game, lets be a serious game, lets be a sexy game, lets be a woke preachy game, lets be a cluck game, lets be a DRM always online multiplayer game, lets be a horror game, lets be an action game. Lets be a make believe game.
I’d argue every single Dragon Quest game is at least good >but 2
2’s reputation is purely for the NES original, it’s a much smoother game in the remakes
Consistently good?
RE games that are objectively trash:
Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 3
Gaiden
Survivor
Survivor 2
Code Veronica
Zero
Both outbreak games
O.R.C.
Umbrella Corps
RE6
The Lightgun games
Dead Aim
Revelations 1 and 2
RE7
The only good games are like RE2, The RE1 Remake (only after the newer pc port),5 and the RE2 and 3 remakes.
No. 1 is annoying, 2 is decent, 3 is sh8t, 4 is Godlike, remake is still annoying but it looks good now, 0, 5 is shit when playing alone, 6 is shit, Revelations 1 and 2 are filler shit that isn't even good, 7 and 8 qre trash, 2 remake is annoying and 3 remake is garbage again
While this thread is RE related, I thought that in RE4 I would actually play in the village throughout the game. While I don't think the castle is bad, I just think the village was much scarier.
That's just how RE games are >First area builds tension >Second area is to loosen things up and starts introducing stronger enemies >Final area is to show what you have learn throughout the game
Nah.
But its the one with most ups and downs. The fact its live through for two decades while similar sucessfull franchises like Castlevania,Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are or dead or in a mediocre situation.
no, that title goes to mario.
Mario has some real stinkers like 2 and sunshine
Mario bros 2 and mario sunshine are way better than RE5 and 6.
In any case, that title would go to Zelda.
The only one i agree with is 6, 5 is one of the best coop games ever made
Agreed. 6 was so fricking over the top it was moronic, it was like the boulder scene from 5 but 24/7. But 5 was amazing coop with a friend, genuinely some of the funnest multiplayer I ever played.
I don’t have friends. Especially ones to game with. Pass
Correct, Mario is amazing. To me, Nintendo and Capcom are the best companies in the industry.
Nintendo isn’t quite as good anymore, capcom still mostly gives fans what they want which is still weird
Nintendo not being as good still doesnt put it below most other companies

I personally kinda agree, but I dislike Code Veronica and 8. Not bad games in and of themselves but not to my taste.
Who’s excited for the RE4 Remake?
I'm interested to see what it is. I don't think they will catch lightning in a bottle twice, nor will it be a 1:1 remake. I'm just hoping for a fun game that I find myself replaying, much in the way that I love both 2 and 2Remake.
replay value is critical for re
a game you just get sucked into and need to be forced to stop playing
OP, Capcom practically forgets about all of the RE spin offs (INCLUDING Revelations). And for that matter, so do we.
7 has references to revelations by showing a book obrien wrote, it even references alyssa in outbreak. Village references 5 too and so does revelations 2
>some notes here and there
I appreciated the Outbreak reference but they amounted to nothing about a series that constantly uses characters to bait fan service.
Not at all, given the entire RE5-6 era. VII and Remake 2 were great, but REmake 3 is shit and Village is mediocre.
>RE1 classic

Claire Bear is good too!

Frick no, it fell apart after 4 and was in a rut until 7.
mainline is good but its not consistent, re5 and 6 are fine nowhere near as fun as the others.
As a huge fan, I disagree. Sure, for numbered games, there's only a few bad games, but dear lord the spin off games are not just bad bur some of the worst games I've ever played.
Many series have atrocious spinoffs
i was thinking about buying the 2-3 remake bundle.. but after reading how capcom, i dont think i wanna buy it.

They had to rewrite it because American News called it racist
