to be fair, it doesn't really convey its existence well. You have very specific window to do the tattoo and poledancer sidequests with rikiya and assuming you choose to not hang out with Rikiya after the Kanda fight, the substory icon is blocked off by the main quest marker so you might not even realize you have a sidequest, and if you do hang out with Rikiya, you can only do the tattoo one and you have to send him back to Serena and talk to him again to start the dancer one.

Rikiya was just a good kid who wanted to follow in Kiryu's footsteps, so Kiryu felt responsible for him. He was in the wrong line of work but for the right reasons, so Kiryu probably saw a lot of himself in Rikiya, and knew that he was responsible for his death even though he didn't pull the trigger. It's different than when hardened men like Kazama and Nishiki bit it even though Kiryu was closer to them; Rikiya didn't know what he was getting into and his belief and trust in Kiryu got him killed, and Kiryu crumbled over how unfair it all was. I think it's one of the better parts in Y3, personally.

Because Rikiya was young, kind, and had his whole life ahead of him. He was just a kid who never did anything wrong, can’t even be considered a real Yakuza, and only wanted to protect the people closest to him. He also spends time helping out with the orphanage, and Kiryu spends fair bit of time getting to know him and interacting with him, so it’s not unlikely Kiryu started seeing him a little brother, or even one of his kids. His death is also partially Kiryu’s fault, since if he didn’t get reckless and turn his back Tamashiro, Rikiya wouldn’t have needed to save Kiryu. Put all that together and it’s not really surprising that he’d breakdown like he did.

I honestly lost interest after Y6. I know there've been people saying it wasn't a good ending and even the devs expressed their dislikes with it but I thought it was fine enough that I genuinely just didn't care about what came after.
The direction they seem to be taking with the series now just legit doesn't interest me anymore and everything I see about the plot points in trailers and whatnot turn me off from even considering ever touching them. It also bothers me greatly that they seem to be unable to just retire their "main guy" like they said they would. If you say you're gonna do something and that this is the end of that character, then fricking do it instead of backing up on your word like a little b***h. It just makes me lose all respect in the company and people who are writing this shit when they can't even commit to a choice they made.

Koichi Yamadera commands to high a salary. That's the easiest way to write off characters in RGG games, either their actor commands to high a price or they get absorbed in some scandal.

to be fair, it doesn't really convey its existence well. You have very specific window to do the tattoo and poledancer sidequests with rikiya and assuming you choose to not hang out with Rikiya after the Kanda fight, the substory icon is blocked off by the main quest marker so you might not even realize you have a sidequest, and if you do hang out with Rikiya, you can only do the tattoo one and you have to send him back to Serena and talk to him again to start the dancer one.
Rikiya was just a good kid who wanted to follow in Kiryu's footsteps, so Kiryu felt responsible for him. He was in the wrong line of work but for the right reasons, so Kiryu probably saw a lot of himself in Rikiya, and knew that he was responsible for his death even though he didn't pull the trigger. It's different than when hardened men like Kazama and Nishiki bit it even though Kiryu was closer to them; Rikiya didn't know what he was getting into and his belief and trust in Kiryu got him killed, and Kiryu crumbled over how unfair it all was. I think it's one of the better parts in Y3, personally.
Because Rikiya was young, kind, and had his whole life ahead of him. He was just a kid who never did anything wrong, can’t even be considered a real Yakuza, and only wanted to protect the people closest to him. He also spends time helping out with the orphanage, and Kiryu spends fair bit of time getting to know him and interacting with him, so it’s not unlikely Kiryu started seeing him a little brother, or even one of his kids. His death is also partially Kiryu’s fault, since if he didn’t get reckless and turn his back Tamashiro, Rikiya wouldn’t have needed to save Kiryu. Put all that together and it’s not really surprising that he’d breakdown like he did.

I honestly lost interest after Y6. I know there've been people saying it wasn't a good ending and even the devs expressed their dislikes with it but I thought it was fine enough that I genuinely just didn't care about what came after.
The direction they seem to be taking with the series now just legit doesn't interest me anymore and everything I see about the plot points in trailers and whatnot turn me off from even considering ever touching them. It also bothers me greatly that they seem to be unable to just retire their "main guy" like they said they would. If you say you're gonna do something and that this is the end of that character, then fricking do it instead of backing up on your word like a little b***h. It just makes me lose all respect in the company and people who are writing this shit when they can't even commit to a choice they made.
I enjoyed Judgment and Lost Judgment. 7's fine, but I don't like it as much as the old games.
