The game was rebooted halfway in development. I can’t imagine what a shit show it was before it was rewritten. It’s still extremely feminine, tons of female npcs and side characters. Insomniac is full on SJW mode and they had to let it infect a children’s game. Shameful. Also Ratchet being hesitant about seeing other Lombaxes makes no sense.
At least they fired her.. the question is why did they hire that rabid leftist in the first place. I guess getting that Sony money comes with consequences.

Gamedev CEO here, I'm hiring mostly homosexuals for my team, no straight whites at all unless they're willing to become part of the LBGTQ+ on at least a performative basis. It has nothing to do with me hating the white race, it's just that I need all the funding I can get, and ESG grants is a viable way of making sure my employees get paid for their work.

No it doesn’t. The plot and characterization for Crack is threadbare but it’s all made moot by the fact Clank is basically Time Jesus. If Time Jesus is encouraging you to hop dimensions, maybe it’s time to listen up. Ratchet’s characterization makes absolutely no sense beyond the fact these are games for children and Insomniac wants to make money. He is a furry cat Benjamin Button who goes from an edgy no-name mechanic to a confident hero to a childish guy who is unsure of himself and doesn’t trust his best friend. By the way, Rift Apart never resolves the question of why or if Ratchet is not excited by the idea of using the dimensions for, the ending sweeps it all under the rug.

I guess shooting things is fun, but the rifts were lame and there's basically no real humor in the game (last ones I played were on the PS2 for context).
I liked it, felt like a nice return to form of the PS2 mold while still keeping some quality of life updates from the last few games. I wish they'd finally admit that solo clank sections suck and stop doing them, weapon upgrades felt anemic and resulted in many guns feeling samey or redundant, and by endgame I was using the gold bolt cheat for infinite ammo because I just wanted to blast through enemies and get the game over with. Fun time, very pretty, really cool use of simultaneous rendering, but it mostly made me excited for what they do with this foundation than for the game itself.
It's alright. Because I'm one of maybe 5 people who platinum'd Into the Nexus, I like to describe it as Nexus+, because that's all it really is in terms of gameplay. Story is bland and Somehow Nefarious Returned. The 2nd worst R&C game I've played but still good.
ACiT > Nexus > 2 > 1 > 3 > ToD > Gladiator > Rift > Size Matters (PSP)

Rift Apart's very existence undermines Nexus' actually decent and interesting story and that really bothered me. At the end, R&C decide not to fix the Dimensionator again and Ratchet laughs it off by saying "I can't catch a break," and they decide to leave it at that.
Then Clank goes full moron at the start of Rift by repairing the fricking thing and SOMEHOW NEFARIOUS RETURNED.

Did you turn it off before the cutscene finished? It literally ends on Clank taking the Dimensionator with him to presumably fix.
I disagree with your rankings but Nexus is really underrated. Vendors is a great villainess. It’s a shame both it and Crack got such short development times. The former could’ve been a top 25 game of all time with another year of polish.
None of the Ratchet games have good stories really except for 1. Rift is like the white woman version of Nexus in that they both talk about mental health and managing your emotions. Nexus is far far more interesting but wasted because it’s extremely short and Insomniac didn’t have enough time to make it properly

It's a fine game, but ultimately is all style and no substance compared to the older games. Like you'll have a blast playing a level for the first time, but revisiting for collectibles/sidequests you'll quickly realize how shallow the maps are. Still enjoyed it at least.
