its hardly a secret to anyone in riften that the thieves guild exists
>thieves guild hq is right above town central well >you can probably just stand close to it and hear all that happens there
is bethesda fricking moronic?
The thieves guild in skyrim is less of a secret society like i was in oblivion and more of a gang or mafia. One of the first missions you get is openly coercing people into paying protection money
>need whirlwind sprint to get into the tomb to get the windcaller horn >greybeards send you on this test quest specifically for this because only the dragonborn can get in >somehow delphine stole the horn before you.
Was this ever explained?
>is bethesda fricking moronic?
yes, but as a consequence of making games for normies, just look at any of the questlines where you become a leader after at most 5 quests, they just straight up skip any grunt work so you can be the special chosen one gangster who does all the mcguffin stuff right away, on the same save file >i am the dark brotherhood >and the thieves guild >and the college of winterhold >and the companions >and the blades >and the greybeards >and the champion of ALL daedra >and the champion of dawnguard/vampires >and the champion of reiklings/nords in solstheim
i think there's more
I really wish they had done a different voice line if your character hasn't committed any crimes when you meet this guy. His line is so off-putting.
Also, I really preferred the Gray Fox as a leader. He's a criminal, but not an butthole. Honor among thieves is a classic trope that really entices me into joining the criminal guilds, but I just feel gross joining a faction where everyone is rude and scheming against each other.
Fallout 4 and Starfield make Skyrim seem like a masterpiece in comparison. It's honestly astonishing how they keep outdoing themselves when it comes to making shitty games.
I dont think thats an outrageous take honestly. Skyrim has unparalleled community support, is a very well fleshed out fantasy game with 5 well developed towns with a bunch of shit to do in them, which is very important with open world games.
And i know this probably doesnt matter because fallout 4 and starfield probably have identical level scaling systems but skyrims level scaling system where everything doesnt just level up with you forever and you can actually gain strength relative to the world is my favourite implementation of a horribly shitty mechanic. please let leveling up make us stronger relative to the world you moron game devs
Bethesda is still trying hard to retroactively destroy the skyrim community pushing out a new patch yesterday for skyrim that broke all free mods while pushing their new paid modding system in the new patch.
>Install a bunch of magic mods and winterhold overhauls >Magic is still boring as frick along with the rest of the game >Can't just switch to another playstyle because that would invalidate a third of my plugins
Guess I'll try out that new Tamriel Rebuilt update instead.
Ive installed a ton of magic mods and on my current playthrough im a two hander heavy armour moron. Skyrim combat is very unga bunga, especially melee.
I really want to add a mod that changes the crafting and mining, but all of the "required" mods for them have such massive feature creep and mess with things they had no reason to touch. I.e. USSEP or "Weapons armor and clothing fix" which supposed to do as its name states, but ends up renaming shit in game, changing the crafting perk order and edits archery trajectory, among other things
How did Thieves' Guild end up with the best guild questline?
Fighters get gay werewolves, Mages get a moronicly quick linear story straight to Archmage and you don't even need to be a real mage at all, at least the Thieves' Guild is actually mostly about stealing and subterfuge.
>about stealing and subterfuge
Yet you can complete the questline by going murderhobo. That's not theft.

Now that's hilarious. Skyrim's settlements are the emptiest, least fleshed out ones in any bethesda game, barring only Starfield's randomly generated civilian outposts whose existence is just to provide a shop and occasional radiant quests. There's a cut town in Skyrim, forget the name but it's built up around where an inn is left in the final game. If you restore that town, literally the only thing missing compared to any other skyrim town is a single-use dialog option to ask about some trivial thing that never gets brought up again.
>Now that's hilarious. Skyrim's settlements are the emptiest, least fleshed out ones in any bethesda game
We are talking about the 5 main holds that i specified right? >There's a cut town in Skyrim, forget the name but it's built up around where an inn is left in the final game
No we arent.
Thats not funny. Thats just stupid.
The five main holds are equally shit. There is nothing there. Oblivion alone, you can go back and talk to people more than once, and even random NPCs will have something new to say in the rumors dialog option. Skyrim, you talk to someone once and that's it. Unless they have a little quest, that's all there is to it. They don't even respond to changes or events. Oblivion, you progress through questlines, NPCs have new dialog related to evens that transpired. Skyrim, everyone has just the same dialog options and responses from the start.
The civil war is a waste of time even with mods to restore cut components because in the end you don't even defeat the leaders, they just sit there invincible in the victor's castle, cursing at you while you can do nothing in return.
>Yet you can complete the questline by going murderhobo
Sure but at least it's present and the sidequests are all theft related. I'm not saying it's good. I'm just saying it's better than the other ones.
>EXCUSE ME SIR DID YOU KNOW THAT THE THEIVES GUILD EXISTS AND THAT MAVEN BLACKBRIAR IS A FRICKING CRIMINAL? NO? >WELL THE THEIVES GUILD EXISTS AND MAVEN BLACKBRIAR IS A CRIMINAL >DONT GO SNOOPING AROUND THOUGH
That said riften is definitely home, and Honeyside is a really nice house.
Talking to people was cringe-worthy, it's like they don't hear how silly they sound.
MAVEN BLACKBRIAR HAS BRIBED THE GUARDS, THE THIEVES GUILD, THE COMPANIONS, THE MAGES, THE BROTHERHOOD, THE YARL, THE EMPRERER, THE ALMERI DOMINION, TIMBER SEPTIM AND THE DAEDRA, YOU CAN'T COMPETE AND SAY NO SHE WILL CHIM YOU OUT EXISTANCE!!!!!!!
The fact that you can't kill Maven is the most bullshit fricking thing in this game
Reminds me of Gothic where your job is to bootlick nobles who will always treat you even worse than shit
HEY DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE THIEVES GUILD
its hardly a secret to anyone in riften that the thieves guild exists
I just took 3 steps into the city. chill my man.
>thieves guild hq is right above town central well
>you can probably just stand close to it and hear all that happens there
is bethesda fricking moronic?
>above
meant below

you know the answer to that

>greybeards send you on this test quest specifically for this because only the dragonborn can get in
>somehow delphine stole the horn before you.
Was this ever explained?
Nope
she sneaked in the back way
How if it opens only one way? She broke down the hidden wall and build a new one?
maybe she found it open and she closed it when she left
>is bethesda fricking moronic?

here i thought morrowind was a shithole
>Never done an honest day's work in your life for all that coin you're carrying, eh lad?
I really wish they had done a different voice line if your character hasn't committed any crimes when you meet this guy. His line is so off-putting.

there is a magic spell that the thalmor embassy has to make you immune to rock joint
Great, it's the city in Skyrim that made me bored enough to stop playing the game.
Uhh... r-riften?
whats this from?
ESO
i thought it was from a skyrim in morrowind mod or some shit.
Gross
Fallout 4 and Starfield make Skyrim seem like a masterpiece in comparison. It's honestly astonishing how they keep outdoing themselves when it comes to making shitty games.
Skyrim is only good when you overhaul every system like perks and crafting with mods and all that basic bethesda shit.
>d-do I fit in yet?
How do you people come up with the most delusional of takes? Skyrim is the only bethesda game I've ever just dropped.
Ironically people were saying the same shit when Skyrim dropped that F3 and Skyrim sucked and Morrowind and Oblivion were masterpieces in comparison.
I dont think thats an outrageous take honestly. Skyrim has unparalleled community support, is a very well fleshed out fantasy game with 5 well developed towns with a bunch of shit to do in them, which is very important with open world games.

i installed wizard warrior so if I get tired of magic I can still use it while being unga bunga
Did you try anything to change the casting system?
Juggling spells in menues was one of my biggest problems with vanilla magic.
I really want to add a mod that changes the crafting and mining, but all of the "required" mods for them have such massive feature creep and mess with things they had no reason to touch. I.e. Yeah this is the first house I bought in my current playthrough while I work on getting all of the achievements. It’s comfy.
Riverwood. HOME.
>modded
>looks worse than vanilla
It's the comfiest town
cute lizard
she only fricks nords (reason she came to skyrim)

Why is the shithole town strangely comfy? It was the same with Bravil
Riften sucks wiener, The Rift is the best region in the game.
Have you tried Skyrim's new paid mo- err, I mean "creations" yet? Don't forget to pay for quality voiced content!
>start new game
>head straight to riften
>unlock thieves guild
>steal everything not nailed down
>millionaire at Lv.3
