Right hand newtypes

I swear to God almighty this is a legit thread. The thought struck me in the shower and I am legit curious.

>Are you right or left handed?
>Which way does your wang hang right or left?
>Do you genuinely consider yourself to be better then average at shooters?

I'm right handed so naturally my mouse is on the right side of my lap.. I hang left so there is the similar curve. I am not amazing but I play hitscan classes when projectiles are available since I can consistently puts shot torso or head pretty often. I think righty has an advantage since WASD is very akward for a left hander. The mouse buttons are either reversed or not intuitive. IJKL works but it kinda fricks up the traditional keyboard typing format of both hands on. I think it is a genetic disadvantage.

On what basis do you make the assumption on what is awkward for someone who is left handed?
If anything, I prefer being left handed for mouse and keyboard since my left hand is what is hitting all the different keyboard keys while my right hand just has to move a mouse.

      >WASD is very akward for a left hander
Why would something you're doing with your main hand be more awkward than for the guy doing it with his off hand?

Well a lot of desks have slide out drawers for keyboards that are shorter then the actual desk the monitor rests on. The keypad is kind of factored in on most models so they add a few inches to keep it centered. If you're left handed it can rest center but will make the drawer space none symmetrical.

I just realized I have autism.

        Anonymous

Righties use the same desks though. What are you even getting at here.

          Anonymous

WASD is very close to the edge of the keyboard so it can seat close to the edge of the drawer. The IJKL configuration has another 5-7 inches of number pad before reaching the edge of the keyboard form factor so it seats futher off.

            Anonymous

Why would anyone use IJKL? If you for some reason really wanted to fully mirror your set up, you'd bind movement to arrow keys or numpad. But I've never met anyone who'd do that.

Leftys are forced to conform to right handed world. Left handed people use a mouse right handed because 99% of mice are made for right handers. If you’re not left handed maybe you don’t get it. As a lefty, we must constantly use our right hand for way more things than you’ll ever use your left, simply out of necessity.

I can't help c**ts putting the ticket machines on the right hand side, but I can just use a left handed mouse. Yeah and I use two hands while welding an angle joint or sewing a suture when some dumbfrick runs a sawzall across his forearm. Point is my dominate hand controls the fine tuning while my off hand holds an object in place or manipulates it in very simplistic gestures. Some other anon said it but keystroke do not require much coordination. Your mouse and your targeting reticle require a tremendous amount of fine manipulation. Done by your dominate hand.

            >Point is my dominate hand controls the fine tuning while my off hand

People put lots of effort into training their aim but nobody thinks that it is hard to press a movement key. You can't compare them 1:1.

The problem is that you're being purposefully obtuse or are genuinely stupid by narrowing it down to "pushing a movement key"
APM is a very real thing that a lot of people practice just as much if not more then precision aiming and you are constantly hitting several different keys one after another, if not simultaneously, while playing a game. I'd much rather use my dominant hand for quickly hitting several keys on my keyboard and my non dominant hand to move my mouse, let alone the fact that one naturally adapts to the hand they use for the mouse and the hand they use for the keyboard over time.

              Anonymous

It's still just pushing down keys. It's not hard come on. There is no learning factor. No power needed to learn for pushing or something. Just push the finger down. I grew up with wc3 and sc2.

                >you just push buttons
You know why most fighting sticks and controllers have the buttons on the right side? Because entering inputs requires more finesse then moving a stick around.
I'm sorry that you cannot comprehend people using their dominant hand to quickly alternate between several inputs

                >Fighters also rely on a tremendous amount of side button inputs for combos.
So do many PC games? Is your argument that you don't play PC games? Even for shooters, you're generally using shift, space, control, and 1-4 constantly and simultaneously, let alone any other stupid shit particular to each game. I'd much rather use my dominant hand to be holding down combinations of buttons and quickly swapping between weapons etc while my other hand is aiming.
                > Also we're talking about mouse and keyboard you homosexual.
and the point is that hitting buttons is more than just literally putting your finger on a single button and pressing it you brainlet. Do I have to explain this to you like you're a five year old that has never played a video game?

I recently started to think being left handed is a minor disability, they generally have a disadvantage at anything, not just because majority of population are right handed and all the commodities are made with lefties as a second thought, but that it is generally less effective at a lot of things, in china they don't ever bother to and just tell you to learn to write with right hand, because symbols are that hard to write with left, and any kind of handwriting has more intuitive movement if you write with right hand, except when it's right to left, and only arabs do that
I heard that historically most of the people are right handed because they used right hand to hold a weapon, and left to cover their hearts with a shield, so it implies lefties did something else, like sucked wieners, or were women, so sucked wieners

Personally I just remap. Shift goes to V, space goes to left ctrl, ctrl goes to spacebar.

I don't play that homosexual shit, but I don't really see what the issue would be? I guess it's a little awkward to hit 5 while holding v without rotating your right hand? But the same is true of shift on your left hand.

              >but I don't really see what the issue would be?
Because it's literally impossible to make a keybind like V+5 because V isn't a modifier key ughhhh

                Anonymous

What, these shit games don't let you rebind modifier keys? V serves the same purpose as left shift, as far as the computer is concerned the key at the location where V is, is left shift thanks to the magic of remapping.

You have to do this keyboard level mapping for a lot of games now, it seems like they all use glorified controller input garbage. If I just remap jump to ctrl, the game still keeps telling me to hit spacebar constantly because the mapping for "confirm" in menus is still space and I can't be fricked changing 80 different keybinds. It's faster to just remap my keyboard at the driver level and switch between a gaymer profile and a typing one.

I'm left handed, still use a mouse right handed though. Wang hangs left. My aiming isn't bad but I also don't seek out shooters as a primary genre. I find my left handedness has me compensate by being spot on with using keys efficiently. I can use WASD to supplement my aiming.

I've never understood the mouse thing. Unless you're in your 20s using a computer for the first time, it isn't that hard to just use it like a normal person.

I can't imagine having to constantly pull off running crouch jumps with my non dominant hand while also moving and switching between items and that just for shooters.
