Rimming bases

I've been painting a few minis now, and I was thinking of picking a proper color to rim my bases to cover the different primers and paint that went over the edge, so I decided to ask /TG/
what color is the best for rimming bases? a classy black? a retro green? maybe something that fits the feel of the model like picrel, what are your favorites and why.
>any strong opinions like "BLACK IS THE ONLY VALID COLOR!' without accompanying pictures will be ignored.

Black rims are my go to but tbh any color that plays into your scheme really. Little bits of reddish/yellowish browns can contrast or add colour which gives lots of extra oomph for little effort

      ok, op again, so as

Steel Legion Drab, it's nice neutral color.

For frost / ice bases a blue rim might be better though.

Neutral color similar to but darker than the overall color of the base.

they recommended using something that stands out uniformly against your base and probably the table/battle mat or as

      goblin green

Neutral color similar to but darker than the overall color of the base.

something that would complement your base with the possibility to clash with the table/battle mat would be better?

You should search for the best rimming techniques - your mother is a good person to ask

Based. Nice and bright, easy to see. But also classic.

I read the title as "rimming babies" and was so confused. That is all.

I know you said to shut up about black but I think there is something to be said about plain black bases. They let the mini itself shine through. Not every figure needs a stunning diorama at its feet, some of them don't really benefit from it at all.

I didn't intend to say that black doesn't have any place, just that yelling "black is the best color to rim" or something like that without pictures would be ignored, a plain black base is fine, but I've already based a fair number of minis and am asking about colors for rimming their bases, thank you for your input though 🙂

Black rims! Retro green is hard to pull off

I used to use scorched brown/tan as a kid.

black is the only valid color because it wont clash with the rest of the models painting.

Pick something that matches the base. But also if you particularly care about such things, you can also paint a colored stripe or two on the base to signify what squad that mini is a part of.

Do it by squad. Makes it easier to tell who's who at a glance.

Black base rims make the model and its basing stand out glaringly from the table surface, I don't know why people do that. It only really makes sense for display purposes.
