You can witness the effects of this design philosophy in XIV. Protip: It's massively limiting and it fricking sucks. Realistically, what you're going to see from this MMO though is 5-8 ability 'slots' - much like a moba or hero shooter - with abilities you can swap out for each slot. Each slot will have a specific use-case for each class i.e. Press E for Mobility Ability, Press R for Capstone/Ultimate. The concept of an ultimate is mandatory because they have taken the role of blue shells in modern game design. Press button to feel good at the game and get enough serotonin to keep playing. Small amount of buttons to press, small amount of abilities to learn, plenty of get-out-of-jail-free cards to cover your mistakes, and a button to press to feel like you're useful. This is how you design games for normies and the dopamine-fried.
Zero chance this company can make a good MMO. There is too much actual content, in League they can barely release a champion (think one boss in a raid) once a month without shitting the entire game. It's also a greedy company that will shit on visual progression to sell $200 skin sets that you probably have to gamble $5000 to upgrade to "prestige".
>the mage threw his random AOE spell for 7th time this fight and it finally hit so enemy exploded in 2.63seconds >oh wow I guess they really are better and yhat wasn't just a shitty coin flip >I love le teamgighting very fun design
Yeah, they have the world/lore/fanbase to crush FF14/WoW into irrelevance.
I just hope the levelling experience isn't soulless like wow and the endgame is challenging/rewarding. I fear casual players moaning about time gated progression will hamper the latter.
When do casuals ever complain about time gated progression? its there for the casual playerbase, otherwise poopsockers would dominate the game(they do anyway)
Just reading replies to Mark Yetter's tweets about the MMO is filled with boomer WoW raiders who don't have enough time to play anymore, but want to feel included with end game content without falling behind.
That's fine to an extent but you can't have it both ways. If it's too easy to progress longevity will suffer and lack of engaging/rewarding content will be apparent.
no. riot just steals and makes versions of games designed for the chink market.
league of legends - shitty version of dota
teamfight tactics - stolen from Dota Auto Chess
Legends of Runeterra - copycat of hearthstone
Valorant - crappy knockoff of CSGO
so what will this new MMO be? world of warcraft with gun skins?
theyre a massive company so they will be trend followers, not innovators. they will copy the lost ark formula/model. the game will have its pvp, meta build paths, fashion to purchase, it will have a koolaid tier lore like league already does so no you will not be enlightened from playing it lol. just the opposite
thanks, but im sticking with adventure quest worlds
>Soon
Its gonna get released at least in 2026
homosexuals like you that think its "soon" make me wanna take your brains out and cook them in a grill
imagine getting so mad over nothing
get some help
>final nail
it's already dead
XIV beat it into the ground
At this point everyone is looking for a XIV killer
XIV is not an MMO and has 0 comparisons to WoW
xiv's fricking dead who the frick plays it?
if riot can cut down the amount of abilities needed
and port to console also
it'll be a wow killer
needing 80+ buttons is 2005 shit
Please have a nice day
subhuman
exceedingly true

>isometric moba mmo with 6-8 abilities max
Could work, or be a disaster. I suspect disaster.

>release a champion (think one boss in a raid) once a month
This is an awful comparison
Yeah, yeah... one raid boss is probably more actual work but it's just a rough estimation
Arcane gives me hope of pretty cool zones and story.
LoL gameplay discourages me that the combat will be good.
Luckily Dragonflight is pure kino.
combat/micro gameplay is one of league's strong suits.
the balancing makes it shit

>Riot Games
No.
Probably. League is the only game I play anymore.
they're Chinese, so no
>dev known for casual garbage
Nah.
They should make battle royale. I want something else to play besides Apex.
>League kills Dota
>Valorant kills CS
>League MMO will kill WOW
Based Riot
Have there even been any gameplay demos?
I'm expecting it to have lost ark combat

How does this = casuals complaining about time locked content?
no. riot just steals and makes versions of games designed for the chink market.

so what will this new MMO be? world of warcraft with gun skins?
probably just genshin impact copy
aren't they tencent?
also not installing their custom approved spy/malware.
If it's good I will go full moron for it, but it's likely my pc will not play it and I'm not paying more than 50 dollars for a new gpu.
I will definitely give it a try, they seem to be adamant about putting a bigger focus on multiplayer.
>themepark MMO
>community
It'd better have a pure support class.

Can I be a pirate?
