See the part where they say its a necessity and not to appease shareholders?
its the opposite of that.
I hope they are firing all the woke lesbians to appease shareholders personally.
opposite, they fired a bunch of the actual workers who have created content for them, because now they're just going to iteratively generate new designs based on them with AI, all that's gonna be left are the brainless DEI recruits because that's all they need, everything else can be run with a handful of staff.
Glad riot forge got fricked, they released 0 good products, and ruined king took almost a year after it was supposed to be out to finally launch and it was a 1:1 engine clone of battlewars nightchasers.
they have over 5000 employees.
5000 employees for League and Valorant.
They could stand to downsize 50% and have very few problems except for the heaps of dosh they would retain yearly from not paying a bunch of useless laborers.

My guy the entire pro scene has asked for this since the game came out.
Riot is just lazy and figured that why add actual features into the game when they can remove game modes and add 100 dollar skins instead.

I just wanted to let you know that Riot couldn't add a replay system to League until like 2016. The earliest memories I have about the replays system was using someone else's 3rd party league app.

Again, as I said before, League was built by 3 dudes in a basement in 09 and wasn't built as a competitive game from the start. It simply morphed into one later, pretty quickly sure, but it certainly didn;t start out as such.
Valorant was marketed and designed as a competitive game.

>League was built by 3 dudes in a basement in 09 and wasn't built as a competitive game from the start
Bro, Dota-clones/ASShomosexualS/MOBAS or whatever are competitive by nature since the WC3 map days, and the dev team size doesn't really matter. Just said the little tidbit about when/how long it took League to get a replay system even with all the manpower Riot had in 2016. We're just agreeing on the same thing: Riot is and always was moronic and somehow can't manage to get a "simple" feature implemented despite hiring a bunch of programmers.

League at the very least was initially made by 3 dudes in a basement and I'd imagine the technical debt is fricking massive, so I can understand a little bit. Valorant on the other hand was made from the ground up to be the "better and more competitive" CS and be a major esports title, so lacking basic features expected of such in a modern game is absolutely unforgivable.
project F is more likely cancelled, Project L is probably going to flop
Project L has a lot of shit going on behind the scenes rn. Apparently a lot of positions opened for it so its a long way away. Game looks ok. League also has an MMO on top of this.

Well they ARE a Chinese company, so they could be firing most Western developers to make the company be a majority of Chinese devs. Either way, that'll fix the DEI issue and people won't be getting hired because they identify as something besides the norm. Chinese are higher IQ.
To make the majority of the company Chinese. It's being written right in front of us.
[...]
If you seriously believe Tencent are only "shareholders" for Riot, you're probably an American.
They aren't a chinese company be it figuratively or literally. They're located in the USA, and always have been, and despite this meme about shares, Riot does things outside of Tencent reach/control all the fricking time and if you even knew about their mobile game fiasco then you would know this.
Twitch already laid off like over 1/3 of their workforce in January 2024 alone. I'm expecting that company and every other tech company to do at least 2 more waves of firing in 2024. Job market is gonna be a shitshow kek
the funniest thing is that people jump to conclusions about who is getting laid off but when you look at the announcements they make its always some moronic bullshit that never should have been employed in this company in the first place
like riot forge in this example is their indie game development section
You know these companies that are getting media attention are not even 1% of the jobs in the U.S. In fact, if we take every company in the news for massive layoffs for the past 3 months it probably doesn't even account for .000005% U.S. jobs.

Everyone overhired during the pandemic. That is why once it ended, people are getting laid off. I bet you that majority of tech companies are still bloated and bigger than they were pre-pandemic even after layoffs.
pandemic was over 3 years ago. corporations are making record profits now, wealth transfer from the bottom to the top is still increasing. it has nothing to do with overhiring, everything to do with automation/AI, H-1B misappropriation, and decriminalization of illegal immigration.
and if you complain too loudly the billionaires will send the browns to kick down your door

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD
Its also becoming more and more apparent that the economy doesn't work (I doubt any system would, because commies have almost always failed so far)
Our populations and prices are all growing, we are hitting a point where a 50-70k a yr income is barely livable and the super wealthy mega corpos are holding most of the money in the system and since lobbying is a thing its probably not going to change
Finally. Sick of people getting easy jobs in these companies doing frick all and earning too much. Its about time doctors, plumbers, electritions and teachers etc. get rid of bad actors trying to frick up their respective industries and society and finally get paid what they are worth
>big tech has a record year, does massive hiring >next year they fire everyone they just hired
What was even the point of the hiring? Did every big tech BI department all go moronic all at once? Obviously the COVID boost to gech companies wasn't going to last forever, them hiring thousands of excessive employees was completely insane. At least the Democrats got to pretend they made new jobs for like 5 weeks I guess, frick that's probably all this actually was about
Realistically speaking Riot grew too big too fast. Took too many projects at the same time and didnt know how to administrate any of them without another one collapsing.
They are reaping what they sow
>too big too fast
nah, up until s6 they barely did any work, they released only one or two skins per patch, and the game was bleeding players, thats when the chinese overlords cracked the whip and started throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks and what came out of that was a bunch of gameplay reworks, 5 or more skins per patch, Valorant, LoR, all of the forge games and Arcane
this is just the point where they amputate all the areas that didn't work (games that never made it out of the planning stage, probably the mmo too) and things that weren't as succesful as they expected (forge).
now they're just focusing on mantaining all the money churning games.
Mexicans are too stupid to be electricians. You can boss them around for grunt work and pay them peanuts and threaten to call ICE if they step out of line.
It's hilarious that you actually think that anyone but entry-level codelets and pajeets find AI-generated code impressive.
Meanwhile, GPT has only been getting more moronic with every passing month. I can't even use it for basic assistance anymore because it keeps hallucinating random shit and wastes my time by making me argue with it trying to explain that it's wrong.
I think it's more likely to be a helper tool than a full on replacement. I used it a bit to help me through some bugs and with a quick algorithm I couldn't be fricked writing (ended up having to make minor adjustments to it but it wasn't important). It works wonders in "what the frick am I doing wrong? ctrl+v" situations tbh.
>I think it's more likely to be a helper tool than a full on replacement.
Yeah pretty much. Any company that is foolish enough to try and replace all dev work with AI will quickly find themselves 10 feet deep in unmanageable, unravelable shit.
The problem is that it's not even very good for assisting anymore (chatGPT at least), because as I said it can very confidently hallucinate untrue shit that can send you on a tangent which will waste your entire day. Maybe if it output some kind of confidence level for each token, it would be more useful.
>because as I said it can very confidently hallucinate untrue shit that can send you on a tangent which will waste your entire day
Yeah, as you said earlier you need to know what you want output, if you know that then you can immediately discern whether the answer you got was helpful.
For my algorithm example I wanted something that'd go through all the nodes of a metadata tree and print them, it turned out it was missing a small section so it wouldn't print absolutely everything (iirc it was missing nodes that had attributes), but that was quickly fixed since I had a good idea of what needed to be there. If I trusted it unquestionably then things would've been much harder.
>It's hilarious codemonkeys still don't think this is going to happen to them.
You don't understand what programmers actually do, writing code is like 3% of their work
It's like saying architects will lose their job because someone invented a brick laying robot
Current AI models require you to know the exact outcome you need, at which point you can just write it yourself in the same time it takes to write your prompt kek
It doesn't matter, the problem is that the way current AI models work is that they don't understand it's output just try to guess what you want
Let's assume the tech advances and it has 100% success rate giving you ALWAYS the correct output to the point it doesn't even need to be doublechecked it STILL wouldn't be able to replace programmers
Let's take something basic, List vs IEnumerable, ffirst of all the AI doesn't know why you would use one over the other, secondly if it somehow managed to know (impossible for the current way these models are designed) you would need to include the entire project AND all future additions to the project in your prompt for it to actually get it correct
tldr: if AI was able to lay ever brick, lay wires, do the plumbing, etc you would still need an architect to prompt it, and unllike art where every single human can describe an image you need to actually understand how houses are build...but unlike building houses writing code is piss easy and super fast making AI useless
Do note that there still are use cases for AI, as a shittier form of stackoverflow (co-pilot) and to prompt it for ideas
I avoided using gpt to code for a while but when I tried it I also had this same experience. Small things it was nice, but more complicated questions it reminded me of talking to very early AI where it would just repeat/reword it's answer like a moron. people talking about ai overtaking dev jobs don't understand either.

Then do it. If you are mediocre to beg, keep it as a hobby.
Programming is a lot more sought after as there is extreme shortage of good cooders, emphasys on the "good" word. These jobs are mostly done by pajeets who make poocode, which is why essentially every software sucks dicks now as all they can do is shitty smartphone esque apps.
There are literally 'white people programmer' type jobs, who make sure the poocode is more or less in a shippable state.

If you think that's bad, you just wait when the Q1 fiscal reports roll in. These layoffs are going to ramp up and the forecast for the remaining quarters will be a global economic downturn of proportions never seen before; global conflicts will flare everything up even more. A year to remember, savour it

Is it finally here, is the crash happening? Are we at the end of the $300 million dollar cookie cutter AAA game budget era?
>Are we at the end of the $300 million dollar cookie cutter AAA game budget era?
No.
I've checked the rioters that were laid off on reddit, most of them are concept artists and writers like i've guessed.
This was clear as a day, no one will pay for someone to make concepts anymore and no one will pay writers for writing lore of skinlines for example
it is over.
trimming the fat was the contingency plan. If things dont get better they'll start laying off the diversity hires or low level entry workers like Bungie, EA, Ubisoft and Microsoft are in the process of doing.
Lmao. Imagine being paid a salary to be a writer at fricking Riot. They don’t even make lore anymore and even when they did it was a bunch of generic garbage.
Too many to count what happened in 2023 but this year there were only 3 I can think of at the top of my head: Twitch, Riot Games, Sports Illustrated. More to some for sure.
Twitch, Ubisoft, Riot, Discord, Unity are the Ganker related ones, but almost all big companies.
Purchasing power is weaker and with a bad economy and worse things to come on the horizon people arent buying shit anymore.
So to compensate, billionaire CEOs are cutting corners to keep their wallets fat instead of fixing the actual fricking problem.
They're just digging themselves deeper into debt like most companies, its not abnormal for a company to have debt it happens all the time but I think its more of how much and how they spin it when it comes to explaining that debt to shareholders. I'd argue they're a flop or two away from massive layoffs, but for now it seems like they're still holding steady.
I for one will welcome another video game crash. New talent for game devs will dry up due to how shit the industry is on top of comparatively garbage pay and would be better off making their own games.
It's been happening in tech for a while now, some of the bigger ones were faster at layoffs, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon laid off all of it's Alexa staff.
no, these companies are trimming the fat as expected because development costs are bloating and they don't want to jump whole hog into trying to force consumers to cover their costs via shittier business practices yet, at least until they're more sure the backlash will be manageable
Interest rates are supposed to be finally coming down in the US soon according to the chairman of the fed. Lots of US banks have already reduced mortgage rates ahead of this.
The growth in gaming (as in, console/PC gaming) has been severely blown out of proportion due to smartphone shit. Actual AAA gaming has actually fricking plateaued around like 2020, even with all the GaaS and the increase in game prices.
Without growth there's less investment, and with less investment you have to actually make money instead of making garbage nobody wants and throwing it into a console bundle to pretend it actually sells.
So expect 100$ games, 30$ monthly subscriptions and a shitton of layoffs for them to try to crawl out of the hell they threw themselves in.
Hasbro, twitch, meta last year, google last year and about to again this quarter, amazon, sports illustrated. lot of them are killing off the fat. Particularly stuff they can use ai on.
I don't see how the company is even profitable in the US market anymore. Literally no one besides bugs and asiatics okay the game anymore. All of their spin off games have failed so far. This company exploded a decade ago and they spent all of their capital hiring trannies and diversity hires instead of fixing the game

The entire industry was over-staffed, pushing for as much expansion of playerbase as possible. Borrowing is not dirt cheap/free anymore, so profitability becomes everyone's focus again. Even companies that make profit, still borrow money.
>I thought they were swimming in money
When will you stupid homosexuals understand that big businesses don't make decisions out of survival. They make decisions based on what will make the highest profits. If they think that by firing a bunch of people they will make slightly more profit, they will.
The idea that they NEED to do shit like this is pure propaganda, stop falling for it.
Who exactly do you think they are laying off? The Card game is reduced to a skeleton crew, Forge the indie brand is gone, all the people that write short stories for the universe site got the boot. Those people and their related localizers are probably like 80% of the firings.
How is this a bad thing? They were failed experiments. Riot is doing a good thing by cutting off dead weight. Sorry, you shot your shot and missed. Better luck next time.

It has nothing to do with leftists, and the outrage from Palestine absolutely isn't false I don't know why you'd pretend that it is, did you get it mixed up with the accusations israel is making? Those are absolutely false and are reminiscent of a certain hoax they perpetuate.
Why would I take your word for it when the logic doesn't follow at all? The fact leftists are protesting doesn't mean that them attaching troony shit to freeing Palestine was the goal for Palestinians.

Yeah, they're either moronic (which they are, that's definitely a part of it) or someone is using them, and considering their toxic nature I think it's pretty clear they would be getting used to harm the Palestinian cause.

It's not AI morons. AI is still in very early experimental stages and companies still don't know how to use it properly. Still, AI replacement (if it happens at all) is something that will happen gradually.
It's been at a point where it's been used professionally for months now. I remember hearing about some uproar that some gacha game fired all their artists and replaced them with AI.
Hell, it's even in use in manga (though less to replace someone and more because the artist is lazy and doesn't give a shit anymore).
I truly hope the frickers getting fired ate the ones responsible making everyone LGBT, censoring the female characters and making them ugly, as well as making every new character be Pixar shit or more DEI characters.
as someone who very briefly played lol like 10 years ago and am sort of excited for the league fighting game and intrigued by the supposed mmo it sucks to see they're shutting down riot forge. i thought all the games so far have been fine and i liked learning more about the world, oh well
ruined king took like 3x the proposed budget for a literal reskin of another game, and got delayed twice. hextech mayhem is an advancement of the flash game they had for ziggs' release. mageseeker was actually pretty cool but it was very short and very expensive.
never played convergence or song of nunu cause they both looked complete shit.
no, riot forge was the indie branch, that they licensed the IP out to various indies to make games.
riot is internally developing the MMO, project L (fighter) and I'm not sure about the diablo clone, but given the wording of that document it sounds like they're scaling back everything but the "well-along".
no, riot forge was just a publisher, they contracted indie devs to make their games. >the devs that made some game called speed brawl made convergence >the devs that made bit trip runner made hextech mayhem >the devs that made moonlighter made mageseeker >the devs that made battle chasers nightwar made ruined king >the devs that made song of nunu made rime

anon unless you havent noticed the whole world is deep into an economic depression right now.
the first people to lose their jobs are the fluff useless 'do nothing' jobs like HR, IT, marketing and ideas guys.
>checked what other games Riot is actually making
They are making like 15 games at once, christ >Hytale, sandbox minecraft clone(https://hytale.com/) >Project L, a fighting game(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4zqkjXdYT0) >Project F, a top down ARPG(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR8aPX-6s-I) >The MMORPG(https://www.riotgames.com/en/mmo-recruiting) >rumored MMOFPS game was leaked
This is in addition to League, Valorant, TFT, Legends of Runeterra, and Wild Rift.
Seems like a throw shit at the wall and axe whatever doesn't stick business model. Expect more layoffs.
I imagine the only reason wild rift is still getting support after completely fricking tanking is that they were like 40% through the console ports and they're just trying to make it to ps5/xbone launch.
Sorri, Riot realized that it'll be more profitable if they build around Hytale as a Roblox clone, rather than a Minecraft clone and probably rewrote the entire design doc.
Tech layoffs are always poorly covered by the media
The headline makes you think >OH NO SEASONED ENGINEERS ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS THE ECONOMY IS FRICKED
when in reality if you look into the numbers the majority of the layoffs are either jobs that you can do right out of highschool (sales, CS) or people with no souls that you shouldn't feel bad for (HR)
It's taken a long time to undo the damage of trump's lockdowns, but biden almost has us back to normal
Riot has enough players that there will def be spillover from League and Valo into the game, especially since L will be piss easy to pick up.
It'll also 100% be FTP with a battlepass
>It'll also 100% be FTP with a battlepass
I don't think that shit works in fighting games. Because if you buy a $15 skin and then lose the 1v1 it's humiliating
>Mark my words, a majority of customization will be locked behind the battlepass and itll ruin FGs for a long time.
What's the point, DoA already has the micropurchase scam down by selling costume 'sets' and not individual costumes, so you're paying $20~$30 for one costume on your main.
FGs are a boomer genre just like Quake where everyone constantly thinks they can bring back the good old times only to have their games fizzle out almost immediately
thats a shame. I pirated all other games and they were fairly decent slop. The first one ruined kind was actually pretty cool turn based rpg and had really fun ultimates
All XIV did was dig out a hole they burned themselves and helped make their AAA-gaming division not be a laughing stock next to their phone title revenue.
Then XV came out and stomped on whatever brand loyalty they had left.
They slowly fricked over the path of champ mod and turned it into a dailies hell. Remember when you could use the green crystals you got from chests to buy new champs on this mod ?
Does it take 5,300 people working 40 hours a week to produce and maintain this? That's a lot of people and a lot of time. Imagine 5,300 people furiously typing away at their keyboards for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for years.
Basically all of those games are live service so they require people to keep working on them. Also Riot has a bunch of useless jobs like esports management or lore teams for every one of their games.
Literally every single company that took ESG funds are taking a massive hit, and I think the only investment firm that dipped was Blackrock, so the moment Vanguard opt out because they fear a recession its going to mutilate this industry
they probably preparing for war so video games won't make as much money. Can't wait to see russians get toasted by new technology. God what a time to be alive and not a subhuman slav or shitskin
Considering the fact the entirety of western entertainment is burning with barely anything being successful anymore, especially Disney of all things, it's no wonder.
I'm not Ganker but it can be a sign of bad things, right? I don't actually think this is one of those times. I see it as Riot cutting the fat from the company and focusing on projects that are actually profitable.
Riot realized League was dying and then started like a billion new games at once. Now they're seeing all of the new games besides Valorant are all doing mid.
league is unironically bigger than ever due to lack of competition in esport market. There is literally none. With csgo being dead and nothing but a font for gambling these days valorant is also exploding. Their show (which won basically every price the year it came out) is also getting 2nd season this year
Esports wise, League has lost a lot of western interest but still big in korea/china.
Dota2 is dying off due to a few bad patches and burnout in general. Valorant is going the same way as overwatch- it was only going to have a short term popularity due to how shit it is to watch in general with all the over the top effects. >With csgo being dead and nothing but a font for gambling
CSGO is dead period. The market has hard crashed with CS2 and the game changes just fricked CSGO pros over. Valve saw what sega did with PSO2 and decided to do that, they intentionally wanted to kill CSGO.
>League has lost a lot of western interest but still big in korea/china
Only in the NA and probably South/Central America countries excluding Brazil, which surprisingly is even more popular than China/Korea themselves in the e-sport scene.
Why I don't understand about LOL esports is why anyone in the west gets excited when there's essentially no representation from any western nation and it's all about which asiatic clicks the fastest, year after year after year
That's a lie, it was just a prosperous time for certain industries because of forced ESG and hedge funds pouring an infinite amount of money down every single company's throat. Just think of it like a rollercoaster, there was a huge build up but now all that's left is a swift steep fall into a decline.
I've played League since season 3 and do not give a single frick about its lore. Actually I'm pretty sure they retconned and rewrote it like 5 times by now. It's by far the most unnecessary part of their games.
I'm going to shill it because it's dying anyway
Play the single player mode for Legends of Runeterra. LoR is/was F2P friendly to a massive fault, it will cost you nothing to try.
This mode kicks fricking ass. I would buy a standalone version if it existed. It's so good it's a tragedy Riot pissed away their fricking time trying to make a subpar PVP game when their mechanics are THIS fun for a PVE roguelite mode. Especially play it if you've ever had any goodwill towards Hearthstone's dungeon-run-style modes because this dumpsters all of those
They didn't just say they were long-term-sustainability'ing LoR, they said all future development, what little of it there is, would be towards Path of Champions, because it's so good it basically sucked up the entire playerbase.
Think that's bad? Do Valorant. You get 2 free agents if you're new. After that, game pays you peanuts in terms of currency. Agents cost 8k, you get paid only 94 credits per match. So you need to play 80 matches or more to get enough credits to buy a new character.
>riot hasn't released an original co-op mode in LoL since the star guardian event like 7 years ago >haven't put doombots back in the rotation in almost as long >no hexakill >only ever put in URF every once in a while or that new gamemode that is shit >will never bring back twisted treeline or dominion
>URF once in a while
they made a blog post about this. URF makes people play it then permanently leave league. Seriously, it lowers their permanent playerbase >Other gamemode that is shit
if you're referring to nexus blitz have a nice day, nexus blitz is the only time that shitty moba is playable
I remember when picrel was fired from Riot. I think his wife literally had cancer and dad died from COVID. His manager knew this and tried to fight for him but no avail.
Dude worked on a lot of cool lore and was respomsible for Kindred, Ornn, and Pyke.
>n a lot of cool lore
you act like this deserves a 100k salary. lore is easy to make especially when all you do for a character is a paragraph write up.
Sane people don't care about reading about twisted fat fricking Graves hairy butthole, a small ammount of lore is fine but 90% of people doesn't read the badly writen drivel here
I interviewed with them a few months ago for a procurement position, was shortlisted to the top 3 but ended up accepting a job elsewhere. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ME.
Layoffs is going to skyrocket this year. you think 2023 was a hoot you better buckle up.
If you think that's bad, you just wait when the Q1 fiscal reports roll in. These layoffs are going to ramp up and the forecast for the remaining quarters will be a global economic downturn of proportions never seen before; global conflicts will flare everything up even more. A year to remember, savour it
Does anyone have a record of all the companies that have been doing these mass layoffs lately?
It's pretty crazy, Twitch just had one a few weeks ago and I know some others have too.
Is it finally here, is the crash happening? Are we at the end of the $300 million dollar cookie cutter AAA game budget era?
Why do you think they can pump out so much shit every month? They were doing the Fortnite strategy way before Fortnite even existed
In a different timeline, Valve would have taken out te stick up their ass and hired tons of subsidiary studios to handle Dota/CS and those games would have actually grown decently inatead of staying at like 300-400 employees which is an unreasonably small number when handling live service titles.
>BLM happens >Lots of bullshit "diversity helper" jobs created >Pandemic happens >Lots of work from home jobs created all over the workforce >No one cares about diversity and the pandemic is over >Paying people to do nothing >Cut jobs.
Fire every champion designer and artist at Riot and hire me instead.
I'll make all the new champions actual stick figures and dashing will be a thing of the past.
>Since 2019, Riot has more than doubled in total size going from 2,000 employees to over 4,000. >Goes x2 the size >Now is at over 5000 >Lays off 500
ITS THE END OF THE WORLD
Frankly killing or reducing the "riot forge" shit is a great idea
The games have been pretty shitty.
From picrel i have played Ruined King, Song of nunu, and Mageseeker and the three of them have been bland as frick.
Ruined king was simply a downgrade from that devs previous game Battle Chasers, its the same game with a "three lane" gimmick added that doesn't really fit the game mechanics and worse skills less interesting dungeons and forgettable bosses
Song of Nunu had quite a bit of soul but thats it, the game played like ass the combat sections were boring and obviously just slapped onto the game cause it couldnt just be platforming/exploration/puzzles the flute mechanic was cool
Mageseeker was a dumpster fire.
I dont expect their fighting game to be any good, i remember they also teased a blitzcrank isometric rpg? i might be missremembering but also some of those projects will get massively delayed if not outright axed
>I dont expect their fighting game to be any good, i remember they also teased a blitzcrank isometric rpg? i might be missremembering but also some of those projects will get massively delayed if not outright axed
Those are both developed by riot not forge according to people ITT.
>too many games
Riot themselves only have like 5 games, LoL, LoR, TFT, Valorant, Wild Rift. Riot Forge was headed by Riot but developed by third party devs (also only has about 5 games).
Considering Riot's net worth is estimated to be $26 billion (as of april 2022), that's $5.2 billion per game they developed (or $2.6 billion per game total). Obviously a company being valued at X doesn't mean they spend X on Y, but it should give you a general idea of how much they have to/can spend. To get an even better idea, their annual revenue is >$1 billion.
Honestly, I'd be asking where the frick the money's going. there's no way they spend even 10% of that annual income every year on developing games (including the marketing/skins/etc side of it).
Someone explain how in the name of frick you need a staff of FIVE FRICKING THOUSAND people to make LoL of all things.
inb4 >you don't, that's why they got fired :^)
It should never have got that far in the first place. Hell, staff count shouldn't have broken the 4 digits even.
>one of the designers for Ksante/Smolder/Skarner VGU got booted >the designer for Naafiri, Rells rework, and who was going to do Shyvs VGU got booted
WE CELEBRATE!
I have no idea.
I've quit a few times but I keep coming back, this shit's like crack.

They're only addictive to hamster-brained morons and those have all settled in their respective MMO niches. Riots MMO is gonna be the same old shit and it's gonna be one of the biggest flops of all time.
They literally only cut off the Riot Forge side pajeet team, that worked on shitty side games that nobody knows exist. Who cares. League of Legends, Valorant, Mobile League, Teamfight Tactics should be the only thing they focus on and work on the fricking MMO and fighting game instead.
Go brocke, get woke and then croack. Riot's last good champion was Vex and she's almost two years old. Riot's last good set of skins was the original KdA and they are like 6 years old. Also all their investments including Valorant have been bursts while people are almost begging them for DoA beachball extreme but with Yordles and Annie
They realized that you can't pay eastern Europeans to make 30 dollar shovelware with League of Legends slapped on it and expect it to perform. Literally only one of those games was decent and it was the one they had the most direct involvement with.
>5000 people worked at Riot >league is still fricking garbage from balance, lore to game mods and client
wtf? the client is garbage, no more new game mods or weekly ones, the events are a fricking joke only to shill the latest goy pass, 1-2 reworks per year, only 4 new chmaps per year etc, but at least you got 10-15 skins per month
>actually make a compelling black character that players empathize with because he's not a walking stereotype >he's an instant hit and becomes one of the most important part of the game's lore >his writers move on to better companies >release a rap artist skin because if you're black you simply must like rap, amirite? >and that mohawk isn't authentic enough, what black person has a mohawk? no, every black character simply must have dreads. >normies instantly flock to this design and 90% of players use the rap skin >the TV show also has the character in dreadlocks, and the most compelling parts of his backstory retconned >if you prefer his old design and story you're a racist >normies have the attention span of a gnat, and quickly move on to whatever new game their friends play this week >people invested in the lore stop spending money >riot is hemorrhaging money >hail mary pass to sell a $200 gacha chroma of the rap skin >real fans don't fall for it >the new concept artists and storywriters get shitcanned
If the union does what it's supposed to do then there's nothing wrong with them, specifically for full time workers as opposed to contract shit. Problem is the leadership has a habit of entrenching themselves so union leaders make a boatload and then completely ignoring your interests (or worse, actively fricking you over).
As for the voice actor thing, I dunno what the issue is but if it's that their voices are being used for AI without their permission then that sounds like a problem that's been solved decades ago with an actors likenesses requiring permission and compensation.
Hopefully more WFH jobs get fricked this year.
I'm so unbelievably sick of the WFH bragging on Ganker the past few years. Literally getting paid to do nothing. They all need to face homelessness like the lazy fricks they are tbh.
As a non-WFH, I would LOVE if as many people did home office as possible.
During the covid days it made commuting to and from work an actually bearable experience.
Disagree. I'll take an extra five minutes on my commute if it means I can make thousands of others suffer their own 30 minute drives.
Jokes on them, I don't live in a big shitty city so I'm not affected either way.
Makes sense with all the instances of art being copied off in the past and pumping out lame games. I suspect more will be laid off in time with the development of ai for art. Hopefully the mmo is a bust and this company dies all together.
While current LLMs might face limitations in understanding the nuanced aspects of coding, it's essential to acknowledge the ongoing advancements in AI technology. Researchers are actively working on enhancing AI models to go beyond syntax and grasp the deeper logic, domain expertise, and problem-solving skills required in programming.
Do IT instead of programming and maintain computers, that job will exist without automation due to physical hardware. Plus people build things so incompetently and consume so blindly on either spectrums that your job will sustain.
Not to mention security and networking, those are geographically to be local and never be outsourced.
Ever helped a technologically illiterate person with a tech problem? You aren't being paid for your knowledge you're being paid to not go postal.
I wouldn't call helpdesk/call centre jobs IT really, they seem more customer service teir. You learn nothing from that sorta job aka dead end aka waste of time. Brb shower.
I don't get why Riot designs all these American appealing characters like K'sante when their main and most profitable audience is Asian, I know about ESG but it's still so absurd to see it in practice.
most people are not racist or buck broken by Ganker poltard memes. they like having variety and dont mind if people want characters that look like them. doubt that the average asian lol gamer in china is seething about every character not being a short skinny asian guy with a bowlcut
>variety
Veigo was the last White male before Hwei (if he counts, his name sounds asian). That was 3 years ago, and he was dead. Before Viego it was Sett (half animal, 4 years ago), Aphelios if you don't count him (a month before Sett, but I think he's korean), and Sylas (5 years ago) if you don't count Aphelios. In that same duration there were 6 (7? Isn't Zeri a BR?) brown women.
There is no variety, only brown.
You are either replying to bait or someone too brainwashed to be argued with, it's obvious that "variety" or whatever doesn't apply when it's all designed to appeal to a specific brand of western defined diversity.
The problem is not k'sante being black, the problem is that they made the huge buff black guy a fricking homosexual troony, it is like if they made Blade gay
I have no idea why do they need 5k employees. You literally have 1 game. Valve has at least 2 on support and steam and hardware and other games, yet they manage with like 500 employees.
Because they made emojis and like 2 skins in two years that they had contracts and had melties on twitter the moment they got fired
None of this would have happened if they were freelancers contracted to do concepts, get their money, and frick off
riot forge games were shit. mmo will probably be shit. card game is shit. all they have is valorant and league, both of which are shit. just stop adding gay characters and keep making asian interest characters.
They are. But capitalism wants exponential growth until critical failure. Mass lay offs allow shareholders to make more money RIGHT NOW, which is more important than tomorrow. And shareholders are more important than anything else, because they have the capital and therefore all the power. That's why it's called capitalism, not goodproductsandlongtermthinkingism.
Executives are legality mandated to put pennies of extra profit for shareholders ahead of long-term survival of the company.
That most executives get loads of stock as bonus, they have two incentives to sell the company down the river for the smallest of short-term gains.
>Mass lay offs allow shareholders to make more money RIGHT NOW, which is more important than tomorrow
They largely laid off Riot Forge and Legends of Runeterra staff, both of which already released and make no money since they are unpopular pieces of garbage. They will make no money no matter how long Riot wait. The absolute state of commies.
They released drafts for those new laws. The shares then tanked, and China walked it back and fired the guy who proposed the new laws. Genshin and other gachashit are billion dollar industries for China.
>fighting game >ARPG >MMO >MMOFPS >Minecraft clone
Zero chance any of these can be as successful as LoL or Valorant. Their only chance was an open world meme game, battle royale, or a gacha.
A proper gacha with rollable characters. I'm pretty sure TFT is just those tiny pets things no one cares about and for League, the loot boxes just contain things you can already straight up buy like skins. I'm talking about a game competing with Mihoyo.
>you can already straight up buy like skins.
not anymore
>To unlock Jhin’s Dark Cosmic Erasure skin, players must tread through the game’s milestone system. This means players must purchase Cosmic 2023 Capsules during Patch 13.17 and 13.18 for 750 RP, for a chance to grab the skin. There is, however, only a one-percent chance you’ll find the Jhin skin in these capsules.
I dont think I've ever met someone who has played league of legends that was tolerable. They're always weird, their personality is tied to the game and they constantly talk about it like anyone cares.
Palworld put a dent in them

Fug, I came to post the same thing
BASED BASED BASED
troony
Palbros I KNEEL!!!
Glad riot forge got fricked, they released 0 good products, and ruined king took almost a year after it was supposed to be out to finally launch and it was a 1:1 engine clone of battlewars nightchasers.
>they fired a bunch of the actual workers who have created content for them
Source?
they have over 5000 employees.
5000 employees for League and Valorant.
They could stand to downsize 50% and have very few problems except for the heaps of dosh they would retain yearly from not paying a bunch of useless laborers.
All these employees and yet no replay system for their major competitive FPS title for 4 years and counting
nobody gives a shit
record your fricking match if you want it that bad. It's not 1990, we're not playing doom, we don't need demos.
Are you like legit mouth breathing levels of moronic? Replays let you see more than just where you had your camera, unlike a screen capture.
Literally no one who matters or cares has ever asked for it. It's pointless.
We're just agreeing on the same thing: Riot is and always was moronic and somehow can't manage to get a "simple" feature implemented despite hiring a bunch of programmers.
riotdrones are used to swallowing shit, league has also lacked basic features for a decade now and they don't care about it
majority of league "players" are not gamers but people completely tertiary to the hobby
Project L has a lot of shit going on behind the scenes rn. Apparently a lot of positions opened for it so its a long way away. Game looks ok. League also has an MMO on top of this.
>no one cares
It's literally the most requested feature from the community.
>Just record your own game
You'll never get to see enemy POV which can help a lot
CS had replays back in 1999. Unreal Engine literally has support for it. The game was made from the ground up to be the super esports chink counter strike competitor.
People should stop buying skins and ask for one and I guarantee that Riot would pump it out in like a month.
t. former valo player
>5,000 employees for league and valorant
How? How could you possibly need that many people for 2 games? What do they even do?
If they're so useless why were they hired in the first place?
fake email jobs to keep women busy instead of having children
Well they ARE a Chinese company, so they could be firing most Western developers to make the company be a majority of Chinese devs. Either way, that'll fix the DEI issue and people won't be getting hired because they identify as something besides the norm. Chinese are higher IQ.
You are a goddamn moron.
They aren't a chinese company be it figuratively or literally. They're located in the USA, and always have been, and despite this meme about shares, Riot does things outside of Tencent reach/control all the fricking time and if you even knew about their mobile game fiasco then you would know this.
Yeah, CCP money. Which is monopoly money to begin with
wtf do they even do
Layoffs is going to skyrocket this year. you think 2023 was a hoot you better buckle up.
In fact, if we take every company in the news for massive layoffs for the past 3 months it probably doesn't even account for .000005% U.S. jobs.
Its a sign of whats happening in the market overall
there are enough jobs in construction you just have to stop being such a onions homosexual
I'm not doing manual labour in 35c weather and there's nothing you can do to make me.
>there's nothing you can do to make me.
that's what you say now buddy
Oh hey someone made a topic on /misc/ using your two posts.
>The only board worse than Ganker now resorts to stealing posts from Ganker
Grim
link? I cannot find them
And corporations will STILL demand outrageous qualifications.
>Corporations hoard all the wealth by monopoly
>They also gut all their positions except the overpaid execs
>Nobody has any money to purchase shit to sustain industry demand
This is going to cease to function entirely rather quickly, and it'll be fun to watch burn, but I'm going to kill myself long before then. I need to find a home for my cat to survive it all. good luck with your dead future anons. Maybe buy a couple gas masks while you still have a chance.
not really, because corporations keep minimizing the amounts of positions needed, keeping themselves safe from any worker shortages.
Most economies work if you get rid of ~~*subversive actors*~~, but sadly they tend to be the ones running the economy.
Finally. Sick of people getting easy jobs in these companies doing frick all and earning too much. Its about time doctors, plumbers, electritions and teachers etc. get rid of bad actors trying to frick up their respective industries and society and finally get paid what they are worth
>big tech has a record year, does massive hiring
>next year they fire everyone they just hired
What was even the point of the hiring? Did every big tech BI department all go moronic all at once? Obviously the COVID boost to gech companies wasn't going to last forever, them hiring thousands of excessive employees was completely insane. At least the Democrats got to pretend they made new jobs for like 5 weeks I guess, frick that's probably all this actually was about
Didn't companies get a government subsidy based on the number of employees they had? That probably ran out.
AI will brute-force UBI
Fellow Gankerirgins, we'll finally get to live off our neetbux
Realistically speaking Riot grew too big too fast. Took too many projects at the same time and didnt know how to administrate any of them without another one collapsing.
They are reaping what they sow
Riot used to be an Indie company?
League of Legends was the Palworld of it's time.
it's its
the frick it was
it was made by a bunch of slimy buttholes that had to sabotage wc3 dota to get any traction at all
well yeah.
They were a nothingburger small company started by 2 dudes who wanted to make a dota clone.
>too big too fast
nah, up until s6 they barely did any work, they released only one or two skins per patch, and the game was bleeding players, thats when the chinese overlords cracked the whip and started throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks and what came out of that was a bunch of gameplay reworks, 5 or more skins per patch, Valorant, LoR, all of the forge games and Arcane
this is just the point where they amputate all the areas that didn't work (games that never made it out of the planning stage, probably the mmo too) and things that weren't as succesful as they expected (forge).
now they're just focusing on mantaining all the money churning games.
More like tencent is following other tech leaders and slashing costs by firing 10% of whole departments.
Shareholders don't fire people, moron.
To make the majority of the company Chinese. It's being written right in front of us.
If you seriously believe Tencent are only "shareholders" for Riot, you're probably an American.
They are, dumbass. Do you think they work there? They don't even own all of Riot's shares anymore.
They're laying them off with 6 months of wages and full healthcare for 6 months. They are swimming in money.
Probably concept artists and writes that are going to be replaced by AI
This. Most of the employees CONFIRMED to be axed are concept artists.
Riot is 100% going full AI mode
With artists like this? Deserved.
What's with all the troony dragons popping up in different games. First it was WoW, now League. Who's next?
Blizzard and Riot are basically the same company so I imagine they just use the same ideas they get from each other.
the american establishment has been pushing this for years
which rock have you been hiding under?
What's wrong with the cute dragon?
kek
It's hilarious codemonkeys still don't think this is going to happen to them. Office workers are fricked. Should have been a trade chad.
Tradechads are replaced by $10 an hour mexicans.
Mexicans are too stupid to be electricians. You can boss them around for grunt work and pay them peanuts and threaten to call ICE if they step out of line.
At that point why even hire mexicans? If you push one of those aztecs far enough he might put a machete in your skull
Not really because that's a surefire way to bring ICE to your door.
It's hilarious that you actually think that anyone but entry-level codelets and pajeets find AI-generated code impressive.
Meanwhile, GPT has only been getting more moronic with every passing month. I can't even use it for basic assistance anymore because it keeps hallucinating random shit and wastes my time by making me argue with it trying to explain that it's wrong.
screencapping this just to spam it on Ganker in 2 years
I think it's more likely to be a helper tool than a full on replacement.
You are beyond moronic if you, with all sincerity, believe coding will not also be automated in the same fashion as virtually everything else.
I'm actually lying, AI isn't even capable of understanding the absolute basics
My argument was overestimating the AI
Not like it matters since you're probably a nodev, if you don't understand pic related don't fricking reply
I avoided using gpt to code for a while but when I tried it I also had this same experience. Small things it was nice, but more complicated questions it reminded me of talking to very early AI where it would just repeat/reword it's answer like a moron. people talking about ai overtaking dev jobs don't understand either.
You anons better not be trolling me.
Many turbo tech/code wizards are saying it's basically over and we should pursue other things.
Did you even watch the video? He literally says it was just misguided and vapid corporate hype.
So is he or isn't he a reliable source of information?
If I spend the next five years learning C++, I will get a job right?
Just learning? No.
Learning and getting some experience any way you can? Probably.
Just remember that the days of you getting paid just to learn in the TI sector are long gone.
>is a guy who monetized himself by saying "I worked for google you know?" to "how I memed up I'm a millionaire" and tried to shill his shitcoin and meme course for cashing out reliable?
Hope hucksters are nothing new as people flock towards them because they give them some false promise. Coding is something you need to be interested in. If you are not into it by your own, just forget it.
I love coding but I like 3d art more
I want to make a vidya game
Do I start sucking dick for money to pay a coder or will AI save me from downing cum?
For both professional and hobby work learn unreal especially since you said 3D. You can also integrate ai and procedural generation stuff for animation and modelling if need be or other aspects of the pipeline.
Yep, will do.
I already learnt the basics of UE5 but c++, in UE syntax, is quite annoying
One soul could only do so much
Eh, I'm personally struggling to see if I should get into game deving or being a 3d graphics guy too. My current workplace wants me to do other things like automation which is also ok but not that interesting (can try to climb for money though). Made a 3d modelling tool sometime ago where I 3d printed models made off it, stagnant since due to the work. UE is the current hype.
I hear UE6 will use a new language called "Verse" so I'm not even sure if C++ will be that valuable anymore.
I'd do 3d, especially if there is something you want to create that does not currently exist yet.
Quite sure every graphics program uses C++ and then python for scripting. You bet C++ will still be relevant in a long long time.
Are you good at 3D?
Ehm, I'm a mutt
I'm both black and white
But I am good at what I like doing, art
Still better than indian, as you have an army of low IQ people, in coding. Hence so many programs suck dick now and resemble android apps. Just be careful around them.
3d stuff is less stable, and sought after for jobs as its still under the artsy-fartsy department, but if you can pull it off, try to do it imo
Not poorly paid at all, as you need to have actual knowledge they do not posess to fix their mistakes. Adobe and microshit has been doing this for years. But again thats up to you how much you want to actually work with them.
>There are literally 'white people programmer' type jobs, who make sure the poocode is more or less in a shippable state.
aka you're a poorly paid code janny.
this guy is a literal scammer btw.
Anglo shit happened. Many Amerimutt devs will be like IDW. They cant control quality.
Black person we invented and perfected video games, why the frick do non-whites think they can ever speak about video games or computers in a derogatory manner about whites, especially northern Europeans?
>Black person we invented and perfected video games, why the frick do non-whites think they can ever speak about video games or computers in a derogatory manner about whites, especially northern Europeans?
>no argument
concession time boissssss
Jews !
If you think that's bad, you just wait when the Q1 fiscal reports roll in. These layoffs are going to ramp up and the forecast for the remaining quarters will be a global economic downturn of proportions never seen before; global conflicts will flare everything up even more. A year to remember, savour it
Civil War is coming finally America will be reset for good the tree of liberty desperately needs to be watered with Blood.
so true though two more weeks until we kill all those damn libtards!
more like 10 months this is literally the most heated election coming up since like 1860, doesnt matter if Blue Goy or Red Goy win the election
Unironically true. Too bad they won, it was a nice run.
Russia is defeating them
What the pic doesn't tell you
>it's all targeting a specific race, yours, and the only way to fight it is to stand up for your race
>for ants
Here's a readable version.
That man looks awfully european for a israelite. Do you think the artist made a mistake?
>two... more... weeks...
AI is going to be the turning point that triggers a ton of civil war and riots across the globe as more and more people are replaced by it, yes.
AI will brute-force UBI
It'll be glorious
>AI will brute-force UBI
>thinking that the people that are gonna control the robots and ai will care about the peasent
anon you are so naive...
1. Society collapses as 99.9% of people die because .1% continue to horde resources
2. We force the .1% to implement a UBI and other post-labor economic systems so everyone wins
There is no third option.
It's either Star Trek or Earth will perish.
I think its time for bed jimmy.
there are not going to stave or kill the 99% of people, they are just gonna fill you with bullshit(think of brave new world) while they enjoy the live of gods with enchanted genetics,ai,etc;there gonna literally be a diferent kind of human.
these is the last generation where the people are the top and the bottom are gonna be similar, shit its about to get wacky in the next 50 years
>schizos are willing to believe the rich will become gods before implementing a UBI
Holy shit this confirms it.
We will get our neetbux very soon lol
The economic downturn will be solved just like it had been every other time in history
unemployment, followed by homelessness, followed by rounding everyone up and sending them to die in a war somewhere
Post-scarcity Gay Space Communism is a pipedream
>Post-scarcity Gay Space Communism is a pipedream
B-but David Shapiro sad otherwise

Ok armchair prophet.Hoping someone barges in your house to gut you
Wonder what this means for Project L, wasn't that supposed to launch this year before Evo?
They mentioned project L is fine
>wasn't that supposed to launch this year before Evo?
Anon, we are getting lucky if there even is a beta this year. The game isnt launching until 2025 at best
>2025
Oof, cancelled after Evo then.
It's a fricking fighting game, what takes so long about making 15-20 characters and about 10 "stages" which are just background art?
basically this
Waiting to see how SF6 does and let it die off in popularity.
All the women making “a day in the life of a SE” tiktoks ruined it for everyone.
>530 employees
>11% of staff
>meaning they have more than 5000 employees
>a video game studio
No really what the frick that's way too many
don't you know? it takes 50 people to make the video game and 4950 fricking redundant c**ts to get in the way
Instead they could have gone and work on a palworld clone
Does anyone have a record of all the companies that have been doing these mass layoffs lately?
It's pretty crazy, Twitch just had one a few weeks ago and I know some others have too.
Is it finally here, is the crash happening? Are we at the end of the $300 million dollar cookie cutter AAA game budget era?
>Are we at the end of the $300 million dollar cookie cutter AAA game budget era?
No.
I've checked the rioters that were laid off on reddit, most of them are concept artists and writers like i've guessed.
This was clear as a day, no one will pay for someone to make concepts anymore and no one will pay writers for writing lore of skinlines for example
it is over.
>I've checked
Now let's hit those showers!
underrated as frick
Can't wait for everything to look like soulless shit and for flavor text to be even more worthless.
trimming the fat was the contingency plan. If things dont get better they'll start laying off the diversity hires or low level entry workers like Bungie, EA, Ubisoft and Microsoft are in the process of doing.
Lmao. Imagine being paid a salary to be a writer at fricking Riot. They don’t even make lore anymore and even when they did it was a bunch of generic garbage.
why they frick they ever needed 500+ concept artists and writers?
There are probably less than 30 concept artists in the entire company, they didn't lay off 500 of them.
The ESG money is drying up because globalists are losing both Ikraine and Israrl to Russia/China antiglobohomosexual coalition
Too many to count what happened in 2023 but this year there were only 3 I can think of at the top of my head: Twitch, Riot Games, Sports Illustrated. More to some for sure.
Bungie
layoffs.fyi (website)
They will give all kinds of excuses but the real reason is the ESG funny money dried up. Now nature is healing.
How the frick is Ubisoft is still alive with all these development hell AAA games they still work at? And they barely make any games that sell.
Most of the news we learn about Ubisoft are either about them losing money or about them doing ESG crap like "reporting racist gamers to police".
It's not just tech. Citigroup and Comerica both laid off about 10% of their overall workforce recently.
Something may actually happen this year.
interests rates+++
consumer spending and confidence is down
yeah, it's another 2010 on the way
Interest rates are supposed to be finally coming down in the US soon according to the chairman of the fed.
So expect 100$ games, 30$ monthly subscriptions and a shitton of layoffs for them to try to crawl out of the hell they threw themselves in.
>same time when the israeli synagogue and epstein shit happens
>breadtubers with millions of subs also quit
Hmmm~
Hasbro, twitch, meta last year, google last year and about to again this quarter, amazon, sports illustrated. lot of them are killing off the fat. Particularly stuff they can use ai on.
riot only make awful games
>league
>valorant aka cs for morons
I don't see how the company is even profitable in the US market anymore. Literally no one besides bugs and asiatics okay the game anymore. All of their spin off games have failed so far. This company exploded a decade ago and they spent all of their capital hiring trannies and diversity hires instead of fixing the game
>I don't see how the company is even profitable in the US market anymore
it is not, they kept pandering to the troons in the west
It haven't been for 5 years.
Their games have more players than Steam, they're profitable you dumbass.
Their show is legitimately good, probably the only thing that westgays care about from this IP anymore. I know I'm a similar case.
this is what they get for removing white-men only characters like aatrox. you reap what you sow
Have you SEEN their layoff package? HOLY SHIT
They only reason why I want to work at Riot is to get fired immediately and get that package wtf
anon thats any redundancy package.
i got a 7k redundancy for a min wage job I lost cuz of covid.
NAISU! Feels good! I hope their next MMO fails.
Oh no a bunch of diviersity hire getting laid off how is this a bad thing
It's not. People that have proper business etiquette and seen this coming in 2020 has the laugh laugh.
Recent Chinese laws which reduced the play time for Chinese teens and minors, who were their main source of income.
Anyone who saw those "day in the life" videos know these tech workers never actually do anything but eat in the cafeteria and have meetings all day
>butthole responsible for making Neeko gay was fired some time ago
>the b***h that made Diana + Leona a thing was also let go a couple years ago and has been MIA since
>gay homosexual who made the awful story which made Graves gay + TF bisexual was shitcanned and now trying to reach out to the new Riot layoffs
>b***h who made Nami bisexual + "polyamorous" (re: a prostitute) & forced her Vi + Caitlyn lesbian ship since the early days just got shitcanned
https://twitter.com/AngelinaChe/status/1749582034652336318
>gay chinaman narrative lead of Riot who made KANG'sante gay got shitcanned too
KEKAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
>Vi + Caitlyn lesbian ship since the early days just got shitcanned
sounds like she shouldve been promoted. this is a based canon ship.
>got fired just when she was lollygagging at work
I have zero sympathy for these people
And none of those Champs will be fixed and more will continue to release
None of these characters are gay in the Chinese lore
likely 530 employees that pushed for this sort of shit
it's happening everywhere
Does it really matter? Isn't it solid canon at this point and shit is just fricked. Bring back journal of justice you fricks
>Isn't it solid canon at this point and shit is just fricked
lol's canon is changed every second
Bros... does this mean LoL has a chance to be good again?
It was never good, it was just fun back then.
Not until they stop the eSports homosexualry.
League and Valorant are great games
>Vi + Caitlyn lesbian ship
That's on Arcane that's permacanon now.
ESGsis, are the Chud winning?

on one hand I love seeing these gays getting fired, on the other hand I fear for the future where every book will be translated to AI and I will only be able to enjoy books in my native language, spanish, english and french
Even anime subs will become cancer, dang
I can't wait to see the tears of fat gay c**t tbskyen and fat c**t nickyboi
yummy yummy tears in my tummy
You guys know these woke idiots always get hired first because this is what the cabal want right? They have inside track to every hiring
It's always hilarious to see a California based Chinese owned company do the balancing act between their israeli israelite masters and their CCP masters.
>"IT'S NOT TO APPEASE SHAREHOLDERS"
>Fiscal year ends in Jan
Hah! Serve them right for charging $100 for gun skins in valorant.
ESG money has to run out eventually even the elites know their time is up
>Riot lays off staff
>Its mostly blacks, hispanics, brown skinned Asians, and women who recently had children
wonder what kind of person comes up with weird fantasies like this in their free time
unemployed whitoid incels (yeah, the last two are redundant)
The pandemic has been over for more than two years, there is more money that is worth less, technological advances that make it possible to reduce costs, etc.
Didn't anyone in the world see that spending cuts were coming all over the world? Sometimes I think that having lived all my life this makes you an expert in it.
>t. Argentina
The entire industry was over-staffed, pushing for as much expansion of playerbase as possible. Borrowing is not dirt cheap/free anymore, so profitability becomes everyone's focus again. Even companies that make profit, still borrow money.
>over 5000 employees
What are they even doing with that many?
They're diversity hires. you think a fraction of them has any type of skill to make entertainment?
>I thought they were swimming in money
When will you stupid homosexuals understand that big businesses don't make decisions out of survival. They make decisions based on what will make the highest profits. If they think that by firing a bunch of people they will make slightly more profit, they will.
The idea that they NEED to do shit like this is pure propaganda, stop falling for it.
One autistic guy balances dota2 there is no need for a huge team that is more moronic and worse than one based autist to balance league
IceFraud nor his replacements haven't been good at their jobs since Dota Allstats.
How the frick is Riot going to do this, and yet, Legends of Runeterra (their failed card game) is still allowed to exist?
Who exactly do you think they are laying off? The Card game is reduced to a skeleton crew, Forge the indie brand is gone, all the people that write short stories for the universe site got the boot. Those people and their related localizers are probably like 80% of the firings.
How is this a bad thing? They were failed experiments. Riot is doing a good thing by cutting off dead weight. Sorry, you shot your shot and missed. Better luck next time.
Wait, are you telling me not w there is LoL card game?? Wow, those guys sure sucks at advertising.
autocorrection on phone sucks
yeah
probably one of the most fun online card games
mostly because riot never cared about it
Wasn't forge the "indie" label they made to have all of those random offshoot games in it? They must not have sold anything because people don't care about LoL unless it's free
>it is the current year of our lord 2023 and people still think that corporations make decisions out of necessity and not greed
>these are the same people who will turn around and claim to be anti-corporate by hating ESG, WEF, etc
bidenomics happened
Every single tech company was massively bloated with people doing absolutely nothing because investors had effectively infinite money due to rock bottom interest rates
Now the free money train has left the station thanks to the world wide recession so they're cutting the fat
Riot has been kicking the white man out of the company for years now.
See for yourself

This company needs to burn to the ground. This whole document is repulsive and is the perfect example of why gaming is dying.
I didn't realize Africa was a continent in Runeterra. It sure is weird how there's a variety of skin colors completely unrelated to their position to the equator unlike Earth
Looking forward to their gay Palestinian character next
Trans-Palestinian character (from Transjordan obviously) is the way to go.
I fully believe those freaks are being weaponized to turn people against Palestine. israel is the troony country.
They're being weaponized by the Arabs and their massive oil-funded international protest regime, along with all the other useful leftie idiots. If their side ever won, they'd be quickly and bloodily disposed by the very people they were advocating for, just like useful idiots all throughout history.
Yeah no, there's no way Palestine wants something as unpopular as troony shit tied to supporting them..
Are you kidding? Their entire plan very blatantly rests on them manipulating gullible leftists internationally and giving them an excuse to riot and wreck stuff.
Don't just take it from me, take a look at any pro-Palestine rally, look who's participating, and look at their tactics.
Their entire plan is based on exposing israel's actions to the international community with the hopes that countries with actual power can do something about them, it has nothing to do with those degenerate homosexuals.
Their entire plan is to flood lefties brains with staged images and false outrage, which gives them an excuse to riot and loot. It's BLM all over again, except this time it's in support of a group that would summarily execute all of them.
Again, you don't need to take my word on it when you can look out the window.
I don't know why you brought up BLM, it has nothing to do with this situation.
I don't know what the situation is like in your country, but here in the US there's a 99% overlap between BLM rioters and pro-Palestine rioters.
It has everything to do with leftists because here the leftists are the primary non-Muslim supporters of Hamas, which I think we can both agree is weird given their murderous treatment of homosexuals and trans in their territory.
Western liberals being so staunchly convinced that they are on the "same side" as middle eastern muslims will probably always be one of the most confusing things to me.
Ditto. They always seem to support the most regressive, reactionary, right-wing side of every foreign conflict.
>What does that have to do with your argument that Palestine orchestrated those people to riot?
Who do you think is paying them?
>considering their toxic nature I think it's pretty clear they would be getting used to harm the Palestinian cause.
The toxicity is all par of the plan. It's by design.
Since the thread is about to 404, have some links:

Zionists, like they always have.
>The toxicity is all par of the plan
Only if it's to turn them away.
>tablet mag
Isn't that some zionist rag?
>but here in the US there's a 99% overlap between BLM rioters and pro-Palestine rioters.
What does that have to do with your argument that Palestine orchestrated those people to riot?
>which I think we can both agree is weird given their murderous treatment of homosexuals and trans in their territory
Yeah, they're either moronic (which they are, that's definitely a part of it) or someone is using them, and considering their toxic nature I think it's pretty clear they would be getting used to harm the Palestinian cause.
theres no weaponisation, at least not super successfully,
its all just the natural conclusion of oppression olympics, and the western leftist ideal of the "most oppressed" clashing with the western conservative ideal of the "most oppressed"
We have these identity "resource groups" at my company. It's fun eavesdropping on the israelite channel and watching them play out the "it's unuddah shoah" meme at the drop of a hat.
>making the black guy gay too for 2x diversity points.
League of Legends is dying and Riot shelled out tons of cash to make like 5 different games at once, but the only one that is actually seeing success is Valorant. They could axe the autochess, card game, and all the others and not lose much.
Doesn't the autobattler make money since it's just reusing assets from the main game.
teamfight tactics is more fun than anything else riot has kek
Does Riot have a lot of female employees compared to normal or something? Or maybe they laid off more of them, kek
Interesting. Are any of these people high on the chain or are they mostly grunts?
Fire all female employees. Maybe they will make profitable games then.
looking for another ship to sink
lmfao why do they have so many env artists to begin with. Their newest game mode was outsourced and likely other internal shit
>like half of them are artists
we truly are moving towards the AI slop timeline aren't we
>AI
It's not AI morons. AI is still in very early experimental stages and companies still don't know how to use it properly. Still, AI replacement (if it happens at all) is something that will happen gradually.
It's been at a point where it's been used professionally for months now. I remember hearing about some uproar that some gacha game fired all their artists and replaced them with AI.
Hell, it's even in use in manga (though less to replace someone and more because the artist is lazy and doesn't give a shit anymore).
>It's been at a point where it's been used to shit out soulless slop such as gatcha games and
I'm talking about actual games and media.
If you want to live in denial then that's your choice.
I truly hope the frickers getting fired ate the ones responsible making everyone LGBT, censoring the female characters and making them ugly, as well as making every new character be Pixar shit or more DEI characters.
Look at the recent character releases
It's all slop, not a hot anime babe in sight
League of Legends has been dead as frick in the west, did china do something that gimped them there where they make most of their money?
Probably chinks are too busy consuming gachaslop.
Most tech companies are doing layoffs due to being bullish on AI and just general corpo bullshit despite maintaining high profitability
as someone who very briefly played lol like 10 years ago and am sort of excited for the league fighting game and intrigued by the supposed mmo it sucks to see they're shutting down riot forge. i thought all the games so far have been fine and i liked learning more about the world, oh well
ruined king took like 3x the proposed budget for a literal reskin of another game, and got delayed twice. hextech mayhem is an advancement of the flash game they had for ziggs' release. mageseeker was actually pretty cool but it was very short and very expensive.
never played convergence or song of nunu cause they both looked complete shit.
Ruined King is the only game I played and it was just okay. The rest of the games were mid at best. I don't need to play them to know, I just know.
If you liked Ruined King, have you tried Battle Chasers?
Was riot forge making the mmo? They also said they were making a poe/diablo clone.
no, riot forge was the indie branch, that they licensed the IP out to various indies to make games.
riot is internally developing the MMO, project L (fighter) and I'm not sure about the diablo clone, but given the wording of that document it sounds like they're scaling back everything but the "well-along".
Thx
no, riot forge was just a publisher, they contracted indie devs to make their games.
>the devs that made some game called speed brawl made convergence
>the devs that made bit trip runner made hextech mayhem
>the devs that made moonlighter made mageseeker
>the devs that made battle chasers nightwar made ruined king
>the devs that made song of nunu made rime
>nunu is by the rime guys
that makes so much sense, damn
You are a brainless cattle but at least you have good taste for Dawn of War
anon unless you havent noticed the whole world is deep into an economic depression right now.
the first people to lose their jobs are the fluff useless 'do nothing' jobs like HR, IT, marketing and ideas guys.
>Learn to code
>Get fired
SASUGA Ganker
I checked twitter it seems to be mainly esports people
>an entire indie division is gone
>it's mostly esports people
Read the thread, dumbass.
NOOOO IT'S ARTIST AND WRITERS WHO ARE GONNA BE REPLACED BY AI SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP
They fired a lot of artists and writers though
Lore is dead, and dare I say it? THAT'S A GOOD THING
That's how you stay swimming in money
>riot forge label
nooooo, not the shitty asset filpi gamemerinos
OH MY GOD THE TALENTED WRITER THAT WROTE A STORY ABOUT TWISTED FATE FRICKING GRAVES IN THE ASS WAS FIRED
OH NO WHAT A TRAGEDY
>checked what other games Riot is actually making
They are making like 15 games at once, christ
>Hytale, sandbox minecraft clone(https://hytale.com/)
>Project L, a fighting game(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4zqkjXdYT0)
>Project F, a top down ARPG(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR8aPX-6s-I)
>The MMORPG(https://www.riotgames.com/en/mmo-recruiting)
>rumored MMOFPS game was leaked
This is in addition to League, Valorant, TFT, Legends of Runeterra, and Wild Rift.
Seems like a throw shit at the wall and axe whatever doesn't stick business model. Expect more layoffs.
project F is more likely cancelled, Project L is probably going to flop
Only games that actually count are League and Valorant. Everything else is minigames or a port in the case of Wild Rift.
actually what really matters is wild rift and tft
I imagine the only reason wild rift is still getting support after completely fricking tanking is that they were like 40% through the console ports and they're just trying to make it to ps5/xbone launch.
>Hytale, sandbox minecraft clone
It's been like 5 years. Release the fricking game, Riot.
Sorri, Riot realized that it'll be more profitable if they build around Hytale as a Roblox clone, rather than a Minecraft clone and probably rewrote the entire design doc.
Centralization is a mistake
why don't they just make LOL as XGP exclusive
Tech layoffs are always poorly covered by the media
The headline makes you think
>OH NO SEASONED ENGINEERS ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS THE ECONOMY IS FRICKED
when in reality if you look into the numbers the majority of the layoffs are either jobs that you can do right out of highschool (sales, CS) or people with no souls that you shouldn't feel bad for (HR)
It's taken a long time to undo the damage of trump's lockdowns, but biden almost has us back to normal
Will DIE hirings finally die this year?
Give it about 6 more months.
>a fricking fighting game
Why would someone think this is a good idea to spend money developing in 2024?
Riot has enough players that there will def be spillover from League and Valo into the game, especially since L will be piss easy to pick up.
It'll also 100% be FTP with a battlepass
>It'll also 100% be FTP with a battlepass
I don't think that shit works in fighting games. Because if you buy a $15 skin and then lose the 1v1 it's humiliating
Mark my words, a majority of customization will be locked behind the battlepass and itll ruin FGs for a long time.
>Mark my words, a majority of customization will be locked behind the battlepass and itll ruin FGs for a long time.
What's the point, DoA already has the micropurchase scam down by selling costume 'sets' and not individual costumes, so you're paying $20~$30 for one costume on your main.
they are part of evo or co owners or some shit. It's bound to be THE fighting game and will overshadow every other because of this corruption.
They've sunk costs in it for around 8 years now. If they give up now, all that money is wasted.
FGs are a boomer genre just like Quake where everyone constantly thinks they can bring back the good old times only to have their games fizzle out almost immediately
>blackrock backs out of the us market
>suddenly shit hits the fan
poetry, and its going to get worse.
wait riot forge is done? So no more side games?
that's right. the upcoming bandle tale will be the final riot forge game.
thats a shame. I pirated all other games and they were fairly decent slop. The first one ruined kind was actually pretty cool turn based rpg and had really fun ultimates
Thanks Sam Altman
FRICK we missed out on all the "dead game" shitposting riotdrones would've spouted towards literally every other fighting game and MMO
What's the success rate of MMOs since 2010? You can probably count them on one hand.
they seem to do fine. People want mmos. FFXIV literally save sqenix from bankrupcy after 15
>FFXIV literally save sqenix from bankrupcy
No they didn't
All XIV did was dig out a hole they burned themselves and helped make their AAA-gaming division not be a laughing stock next to their phone title revenue.
Then XV came out and stomped on whatever brand loyalty they had left.
They just laid off almost the entire Legends of Runeterra staff, including the lead developer. My favorite card game is dead.
And nothing of value was lost. LoR was trash.
heartsone burned me out so much by the time this shit rolled out I didn't have the strengh to keep playing. It was ok though
It's been dead for years, all this was was them saying they're pushing the existing content out and gonna convert it to PVE/AI battles.
>"Yikes. Appealing to Blackrock didn't helped."
We can only hope.
Considering the fact the entirety of western entertainment is burning with barely anything being successful anymore, especially Disney of all things, it's no wonder.
Why is Ganker so moronic they think layoffs are due to a company having issues?
I'm not Ganker but it can be a sign of bad things, right? I don't actually think this is one of those times. I see it as Riot cutting the fat from the company and focusing on projects that are actually profitable.
It CAN be. The thing is Ganker immediately jumps to "UH OH BROS."
Because they’ve never left the house or had a job. They have no clue.
>530 people is only 11% of staff
the frick does riot need 5000 people for, they make like three games
More like 10.
did these companies overhire a bunch of people during covid or something?
Riot realized League was dying and then started like a billion new games at once. Now they're seeing all of the new games besides Valorant are all doing mid.
league is unironically bigger than ever due to lack of competition in esport market. There is literally none. With csgo being dead and nothing but a font for gambling these days valorant is also exploding. Their show (which won basically every price the year it came out) is also getting 2nd season this year
dota 2 is still a better game
it will be once every last vatBlack person got blasted to pieces in ukraine
Maybe in Asia. It's definitely dying in the West.
Im sure LEC is doing fine
FGC seems to be the only esport doing well in the last few years
fgc is Black folk, trannies and furries so no
Why I don't understand about LOL esports is why anyone in the west gets excited when there's essentially no representation from any western nation and it's all about which asiatic clicks the fastest, year after year after year
They don't care. LCS viewership has been declining bigly no matter what they do.
That's a lie, it was just a prosperous time for certain industries because of forced ESG and hedge funds pouring an infinite amount of money down every single company's throat. Just think of it like a rollercoaster, there was a huge build up but now all that's left is a swift steep fall into a decline.
As they say "Go woke, go broke!". Hope they lay off all those woke bastards and they never come back to Riot's studio ever again.
I hope the MMO gets cancelled tomorrow. It's a giant waste of money and time. MMORPGs will never be successful in the 2020's. Screenshot this.
They finally understand that ai is better and cheaper than artist/programmer/voice actor
>laid off graham mcneill
pretty bizarre, he'd done good work for their lore
I've played League since season 3 and do not give a single frick about its lore. Actually I'm pretty sure they retconned and rewrote it like 5 times by now. It's by far the most unnecessary part of their games.
the lore is important because it leads to better designed champions. instagram b***h would never ever happen under the old lore
>We will never get kino like Azir, Bard, Kindred, or Jhin ever again
2014-2016 was the peak for league
Maybe they should Riot
Good one
Card games are boring as frick. If they were like the Yu-Gi-Oh TV show. I would play them.
i just started playing it, but the timegating / grinding is pretty annoying
Think that's bad? Do Valorant. You get 2 free agents if you're new. After that, game pays you peanuts in terms of currency. Agents cost 8k, you get paid only 94 credits per match. So you need to play 80 matches or more to get enough credits to buy a new character.
>valorant
not interested in counterstrike for troons
But i enjoy the PVP more 🙁
>riot hasn't released an original co-op mode in LoL since the star guardian event like 7 years ago
>haven't put doombots back in the rotation in almost as long
>no hexakill
>only ever put in URF every once in a while or that new gamemode that is shit
>will never bring back twisted treeline or dominion
>URF once in a while
they made a blog post about this. URF makes people play it then permanently leave league. Seriously, it lowers their permanent playerbase
>Other gamemode that is shit
if you're referring to nexus blitz have a nice day, nexus blitz is the only time that shitty moba is playable
Ha ha get fricked homosexuals!
I hope that Yordle game still comes out.
Good riddance.
I remember when picrel was fired from Riot. I think his wife literally had cancer and dad died from COVID. His manager knew this and tried to fight for him but no avail.
Dude worked on a lot of cool lore and was respomsible for Kindred, Ornn, and Pyke.
he was probably secretely gay so deserved
>n a lot of cool lore
you act like this deserves a 100k salary. lore is easy to make especially when all you do for a character is a paragraph write up.
Why doesn't it, if it helps make the product popular and profitable?
Sane people don't care about reading about twisted fat fricking Graves hairy butthole, a small ammount of lore is fine but 90% of people doesn't read the badly writen drivel here
https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/explore/short-stories/oldest/
And the small percentage of people who read this are the ones that complain endlessly on youtub about how it is inconsistent
Narrative is quite literally disposable past the bare minimum needed to defend your IP's copyright in legal terms.
YES, THANK YOU.
It is cute when it is implied Garen and Katarina have a romeo and juliette thing going on and just that
It is not fun when you have dozen of stories about characters that have never been gay, being gay
PLEASE TELL ME BANDLE TALE IS OK!
So that's why there's been so many gays whining on twitter about losing their jobs lately. What did these people even do? Did they have a fake job
I interviewed with them a few months ago for a procurement position, was shortlisted to the top 3 but ended up accepting a job elsewhere. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ME.
How long until Blizzard mass layoffs?
Buckling down for the oncoming storm. The economy is about to tank in a way never seen before in our lifetimes.
qrd?
Get woke, go broke
>11% of Staff, that means over 5300 people
wtf, why Riot has 5k? they only have 3 games
Why do you think they can pump out so much shit every month? They were doing the Fortnite strategy way before Fortnite even existed
In a different timeline, Valve would have taken out te stick up their ass and hired tons of subsidiary studios to handle Dota/CS and those games would have actually grown decently inatead of staying at like 300-400 employees which is an unreasonably small number when handling live service titles.
they shouldn't have voted against trump
techcucks overwhelmingly vote left
now they are getting what they deserve
Too many white male cishets.
>people still surprised that tech companies fires off useless HR and marketing people now that they realized they are not needed
>BLM happens
>Lots of bullshit "diversity helper" jobs created
>Pandemic happens
>Lots of work from home jobs created all over the workforce
>No one cares about diversity and the pandemic is over
>Paying people to do nothing
>Cut jobs.
They have 5000 people working for them?
Oh my God.
>5000 employees for a game for chinks.
Insane. I really don't understand how Amerimutt entertainment business works.
Riots launcher have more users than all of Steam
so does any console. Steamies are irrelevant
>I really don't understand how Amerimutt entertainment business works.
By pretending to be successful until everything falls apart.
Fire every champion designer and artist at Riot and hire me instead.
I'll make all the new champions actual stick figures and dashing will be a thing of the past.
are they gonna riot?
>Since 2019, Riot has more than doubled in total size going from 2,000 employees to over 4,000.
>Goes x2 the size
>Now is at over 5000
>Lays off 500
ITS THE END OF THE WORLD
...
>We have evaluated your performance and determined that you do not deserve to be here
This place is mean.
You guys don't even know what art she worked on
Yeah, go cry to reddit, homosexual.
>You guys don't even know what art she worked on
Well let's find out.
https://twitter.com/AngelinaChe/media
Oh, she did champies. Poorly, it seems.
>Her entire twitter is selfies
Yeah terrible loss
Shrinking US economy
Chyna is doing the same (by lowering wage)
Also it´s good, pretty sure woketards took a massive punch
Do companies like Riot typically have more artists and writers than programmers? Is it like a team of programmers surrounded by artists and writers?
>Do companies like Riot typically have more artists and writers than programmers
Yes, and they're all awful.
Explains the client 's state
Frankly killing or reducing the "riot forge" shit is a great idea
Did the person who made 2 female agents in Valorant lesbians get fired?
The bubble popped and we are now seeing the waves of that
>need to save money
>fire all the concept artists
>keep the useless overpaid influencer managers
God I fricking hate big developers
Worst thing I can't imagine the replies insulting her
Yeah it's mostly people pitying her about how hard it must be to not get laid off
Cute asian girls!
Buy Palworld.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1623730/Palworld/
Already did and love it, but wrong thread anon.
redpill me, it sounds kinda interesting but im also so bored of the openworld survival crafting shit
>530 employees was 11% of their staff
aren't these guys devs of some moba? why the frick do you need 5000 devs to make a fricking dota2
Riot launcher has more users than all of Steam, there's A LOT of people playing Riots games.
Yeah that money is generated by like 10% of the employees. The rest are effectively in a jobs program.
>Artist makes Janna black
>Gets fired
I don't think she's actually black there, it's just very bad lightning. It's clearer in her level up.
I thought the same when I first saw it too.
>I don't think she's actually black there, it's just very bad lightning.
liar
Test
>lays off everdox and the rest of the poached cheat devs
>Vanguard suddenly becomes VAC
>mfw Everdox should leak some stuff on UC (anonymously of course)
On Yougame*
Don't really care where things get leaked, seeing Valorant turn into CSGO would be fricking hilarious.
1. riot is stretched too far (too many games)
2. corporate greed
3. elections have consequences
>too many games
Someone explain how in the name of frick you need a staff of FIVE FRICKING THOUSAND people to make LoL of all things.
inb4
>you don't, that's why they got fired :^)
It should never have got that far in the first place. Hell, staff count shouldn't have broken the 4 digits even.
>one of the designers for Ksante/Smolder/Skarner VGU got booted
>the designer for Naafiri, Rells rework, and who was going to do Shyvs VGU got booted
WE CELEBRATE!
How does this affect the mmo? I'm not really looking forward to Ghostcrawler MMO with the soulless sharding system.
this was most likely the entire MMO wing getting laid off, its development was already going nowhere
Au contraire, MMOs are one of the genres with the highest potential of addiction. Axing all this shit will allow them to focus more on the mmo.
>the highest potential of addiction
Can confirm. t. still playing fricking runescape.
What can make you stop playing grindrscaper?
I have no idea.
I've quit a few times but I keep coming back, this shit's like crack.
It's unfortunate you're a troony but don't worry once you've 41%ed your grave will have the birth name your parents gave you and your biological sex.
imagine being mind raped by a rainbow event
I'm not, there's literally nothing anyone can do about the gay shit. It was apparently even hated on reddit but jagex didn't care and still forced it through.
*by reddit
>there's literally nothing anyone can do
Or you can stop playing a game with nothing left but nostalgia and the game's staff that hate you.
And play what? Another game that has nothing with staff that also hate me?
nta
unlike pokemon, palworld gives what its players want
They're only addictive to hamster-brained morons and those have all settled in their respective MMO niches. Riots MMO is gonna be the same old shit and it's gonna be one of the biggest flops of all time.
moronic take
Oh let's not act like ghostwalkers mmo will ever release
It doesn't. Riot is not Riot Forge.
Layoffs aren't exclusive to Forge, atleast one artist got canned from the mmo. Which isn't a huge deal, but yeah.
>5000 people worked at Riot
>league is still fricking garbage from balance, lore to game mods and client
wtf? the client is garbage, no more new game mods or weekly ones, the events are a fricking joke only to shill the latest goy pass, 1-2 reworks per year, only 4 new chmaps per year etc, but at least you got 10-15 skins per month
>actually make a compelling black character that players empathize with because he's not a walking stereotype
>he's an instant hit and becomes one of the most important part of the game's lore
>his writers move on to better companies
>release a rap artist skin because if you're black you simply must like rap, amirite?
>and that mohawk isn't authentic enough, what black person has a mohawk? no, every black character simply must have dreads.
>normies instantly flock to this design and 90% of players use the rap skin
>the TV show also has the character in dreadlocks, and the most compelling parts of his backstory retconned
>if you prefer his old design and story you're a racist
>normies have the attention span of a gnat, and quickly move on to whatever new game their friends play this week
>people invested in the lore stop spending money
>riot is hemorrhaging money
>hail mary pass to sell a $200 gacha chroma of the rap skin
>real fans don't fall for it
>the new concept artists and storywriters get shitcanned
I will enjoy watching this company die.
I don't usually agree with Ganker, but when I do, it's either about circumcision or not making stereotypical nonwhites
If you take a corporate job that's not unionized you're moronic.
only morons like unions
and if you disagree, make sure to give your opinion on the recent AI vs voice actor union debacle, i wanna hear this
>Corporate job
>Voice acting
?
Tech downsizing is happening, because the market is getting more bullish and many people were just hired as growth indicators
it's a huge problem that the entire tech industry, which video games want to be a padt of, is focussed entirely on scamming investors.
You forgot to upload.
Must've striked a nerve
Is that GPT3.5?
While current LLMs might face limitations in understanding the nuanced aspects of coding, it's essential to acknowledge the ongoing advancements in AI technology. Researchers are actively working on enhancing AI models to go beyond syntax and grasp the deeper logic, domain expertise, and problem-solving skills required in programming.
>striked
The word you are looking for is "struck", esl-kun. Learn tenses, you fricking phoneBlack person. And punctuation, while you're at it.
You sure are mad
>there are people on Ganker who have screaming that league is "dying" every day for the last 15 years
Hired a few too many gay lesbian trannies who didn't do shit.
I regret majoring in computer science. too late to drop out now.
Do IT instead of programming and maintain computers, that job will exist without automation due to physical hardware. Plus people build things so incompetently and consume so blindly on either spectrums that your job will sustain.
So long as boomers and zoomers are too stupid to understand how to physically set up a desktop work station, my IT job will be safe.
Not to mention security and networking, those are geographically to be local and never be outsourced.
I wouldn't call helpdesk/call centre jobs IT really, they seem more customer service teir. You learn nothing from that sorta job aka dead end aka waste of time. Brb shower.
Ever helped a technologically illiterate person with a tech problem? You aren't being paid for your knowledge you're being paid to not go postal.
Of course I'm replying to b8, I know where I'm posting.
Number 1 Riot shill, TBSkyen is having a complete meltdown about the employees getting fired.
https://bsky.app/profile/tbskyen.bsky.social
Every post I saw that appears to be someone who belongs in a gas chamber.
Replaced by AI.
just keep repeating the "more players than steam" talking point Riot sisters and we'll be okay
>"League is dying!!!" says increasingly frustrated man every year since 2009
>riot higher ups right now ending livelihoods so they can afford another yacht with a gigantic Scarface mound of nose candy
>We don't have to pay a danger hair weirdo 100k a year to meticulously sculpt lamp posts and barrels anymore
So that makes total close to 5k employees. What the frick would 5k even do at fricking Riot?
tons of the people fired are artists that should be freelancers but had a stable contracts
see
Another one is riot tart that is having a melty on twitter when she only made like 2 skins
>artists that should be freelancers
Why should they be freelancers?
Because they made emojis and like 2 skins in two years that they had contracts and had melties on twitter the moment they got fired
None of this would have happened if they were freelancers contracted to do concepts, get their money, and frick off
riot forge games were shit. mmo will probably be shit. card game is shit. all they have is valorant and league, both of which are shit. just stop adding gay characters and keep making asian interest characters.
>mmo will probably be shit
why do you think that? aside from the woke culture at the company, i mean
ghostcrawler left to start his own mmo.
isn't that a good thing? people have been crying about him since the wow days, and i personally don't just want a wow 2.0
The absolute state of commies.
didn't Tencent share price tank when China released their new anti gacha laws? based btw
They released drafts for those new laws. The shares then tanked, and China walked it back and fired the guy who proposed the new laws. Genshin and other gachashit are billion dollar industries for China.
>fighting game
>ARPG
>MMO
>MMOFPS
>Minecraft clone
Zero chance any of these can be as successful as LoL or Valorant. Their only chance was an open world meme game, battle royale, or a gacha.
they already have a gacha, it is called TFT, also they've introduced gacha to league
