it's going to be shit. why couldn't they do WASD while your mouse makes your character face towards wherever the frick and you just shoot your stuff in that direction? morons

People who play LoL, which is what the game is made for
It's unreal that anyone can be as fricking stupid as you are

That game mode is for people who DON'T want to play LoL you fricking dipshit. Otherwise people would just play, you guessed it, LoL!

genuine profound mental moronation right here lads
I don't understand why people dislike RTS controls.
They have a large learning curve, admittedly, but once you get used to them, it's the difference between playing an FPS with a gamepad vs a mouse. They're significantly more precise, significantly better for pressing abilities without some moronic MMO mouse, and just feel good.
>which is what the game is made for
That game mode is for people who DON'T want to play LoL you fricking dipshit. Otherwise people would just play, you guessed it, LoL!
And this is why I'm interested. I love moba combat, it feels like the best part of turn-based and real-time games combined, but league is the most dead boring bullshit ever. Any game where you spend 95%+ of your time not interacting with enemy players can barely be called a multiplayer game.
>Any game where you spend 95%+ of your time not interacting with enemy players can barely be called a multiplayer game.
Agreed. Farming gold and impotently harassing each other technically counts as some sort of "PvP", but that's not what it feels like at all. If it's PvP, make it about the players from the start and focus on it.

Yep. Which is a shame because the genre has totally stagnated, and I absolutely love the genre, it just ticks a lot of things I enjoy in game, but I've never been into masochism.
>I don't understand why people dislike RTS controls.
Because it's not an RTS. Just clicking on a dude to auto attack and automatically landing all your hits is fine in a game where you're controlling dozens of units, or in a stat-driven RPG game like WoW or Diablo. It's less OK in a fast-paced PvP arena action game where you control 1 dude. You say it's like mouse vs. gamepad, and I'd say that's an apt comparison, just not for the reason you think. Point-and-click controls are like having the aim-assist and bullet magnetism that comes with an FPS made for gamepad, vs. not having it. A lot of people prefer the purer, skill-based control style. If you tell those people "a game like BLC" and then they see that its control scheme is identical to LoL's (because it is literally just a LoL game mode) they'll naturally be disappointed.
That's not correct, however. Yes, if the game was only auto attacks, but auto attacks are more accurately a self-root to do a bit of damage. (And there's a rhythm for this with orbwalking). With proper skillshots (and admittedly league is bad at this with their pathetic excuse for skillshots) it becomes a far more elegant choice of sending attacks vs dodging theirs. And with a far more willful decision making progress compared to Battlerite where you literally just wiggle your character back and forth and spam shit on CD. It's not interesting to me, and it is significantly more shallow.
This is at a higher level, of course, but that's what I find interesting about the controls. An FPS, at any level, is fundamentally the same, you're just trying to be a human aimbot. This is a lot of fun in singleplayer, but it gets dull in multiplayer, and encourages people to exploit it, which is why cheating is so rampant in FPS.
Meanwhile, the controls in ASShomosexualS are completely fundamentally different depending on how good you are. And you can move with precision far more than achievable with A and D wagglin, although such precision takes skill... but isn't that a good thing?

I don't know jack about game dev, but wouldn't they have to fundamentally rewrite the underlying game to allow BLC-style controls? In my mind that would not only be a lot of work, but you'd also lose the innate portability of each champion already being present and polished without the need to port them over into a new engine. Am I wrong?
>2 people fighting 2 other people? >Literally NOBODY ever thought of that before Activision-Blizzard Inc (tm)! Riot stealing yet another idea! I for one am going to purchase many quality Activision-Blizzard Inc (tm) products to right this injustice and so should all of you!
>I only said riot COPIED it, not that Blizzard INVENTED it, ugh you like have autism and no reading comprehension.
Ok so if blizzard didn't invent the concept of 2v2 arena combat, that means they must have "copied" it from someone too. But if that's the case how did riot copy it from blizzard and not the same source blizzard copied it from? And if blizzard only copied it to begin with why are you only angry at riot for copying it even though blizzard too?
Why it's almost like 2v2 arena concept is such a basic concept that it predates all modern culture and nobody can claim to have invented it, and the only reason you'd point fingers at 1 particular company for using it and claim they're copying it from another company is if you're a fanboy shill for the second company.
>original league was fun for a few seasons >tactics game is fun >card game is fun >arena is basically ascension which was fun
How the hell do they keep doing it? Looks like I'm destined to play riot games for a long time.
>riot
>blizzard
>good
Never has been
>WoW invented arena combat
I saw a promotion video about this days ago, what was it called again? project loki?
i think they literally call it arena
https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-gb/news/dev/dev-arena/
you mean battlerite right?
>Is it good?
I'll never know.
MMO PvP without having to grind a shit load of gear and being absolutely worthless for 50+ hours?
Go on then...
>being absolutely worthless for 50+ hours
Yes, now you can be worthless the entire time you play their game!
WoW tried it with gear scaling. Everyone hated it.
>augment system or whatever they call it is insanely, wildly imbalanced with some being complete fricking dogshit and others completely breaking the game
Yeah I sure love relying on RNG to determine my chances of winning. INTO THE TRASH IT GOES
RNG dont exist if you git gud.
How do you buy champs in this game anymore?
I played in s3 and tried coming back
It feels impossible to grind points now

It already blows. Sasuga rito.

Yes I accept your concession.

>people love the new game mode
if that was true then why would battlerite fail? it was the same thing but better (albeit probably much worse balance)
for fricks sake fine, i'll play league again. i loved bloodline champions
Bloodlines Champions / Battlerite flopped but with how big LoL still is it might be succeed. I'll give it a try.

as i said, take your autism outside, i want to discuss video games, not copyright bullshit.
i dont care who came up with it, frick off
even if the game mode blows up, i doubt they'd improve the controls. their established player base would cry
Concession accepted.
>Riot copies Boodline Champions
NOT LIKE THIS! I TAKE IT BACK I'M SORRY! AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It's better than base league but that's not rasin the bar much. Also WoW did not invent arena battle modes.
