I finally got around to playing deadfire and I'm amazed by it. Why is this game so criminally underrated? The first pillars, I can understand some of the criticisms but this is objectively the best RTwP gameplay ever. The mechanics are just deep enough to get you to pay attention to your stats, while being streamlined enough to not demand aspergers of the player. The world building, lore and characters are engaging and original. The OST is even a masterpiece.
What went wrong? Why is obsidian now so shit? And why was one of the best modern crpg franchises buried in favor of obsidians new shift towards shit-tier Bethesda clones?
rtwp is shit
gay fish
somehow they made a game about pirates completely boring
they claim they spent tons of time on ship combat, but it plays like some high school kid's last minute cs project
You can read Josh Sawyers post mortem on the game. Basically not enough people bought it and they don't really know why. The genre just isn't that popular anymore to begin with. Then you have Lariangays constantly shitting on it because of rtwp like the person above me. I really liked the game.
The reason I didn't buy it was because I played the first one about 4 times, full runs. By that time, I was already saturated. But now I got it all for free on Epic, so the day I got the itch I will play it. or probably gonna play the first one again, maybe go with 6 chanters, that would be crazy
Shit, I didn't cosnider this. Lariantroonys are the worst people in the sphere of rpg fans. Baldurs gate 3 will never leave EA so they're all very salty about games that are actually complete.
Sad though, I was just a bit too young when these kinds of games were popular, went back to them when inwas in high school and most of my favorite games are rtwp style. It'll most likely never completely die out but that was probably the last big budget one we'll see. I have zero hype for avowed, I expect outer worlds with an Eora coat of paint.
Oh I forgot, owlcat kind of does it, but kingmaker was boring as frick so I never gave the new pathfinder game a go.
They know exactly why nobody bought it, they designed the game for balding furries
But I have a full head of hair and I want to frick the aumana grils not the orlan
>I want to frick the aumana grils
you want to frick blue Black folk?
FRICK JOSH SAWYER I HOPE PENTIMENT ALSO FAILS SO THE PRETENTIOUS HIPSTER FRICK CAN FINALLY KILL HIMSELF
Who hurt you? Was it Josh?
HE ONCE SAID MY NV FAN THEORY WAS COMPLETELY WRONG I HAVEN'T MENTALLY RECOVERED SINCE
>boring writing
>abysmal soundtrack
>constant load times despite the backgrounds literally being 2D images
The overall gameplay is fine. The issue is that everything else sucks ass.
>The world building, lore and characters are engaging and original. The OST is even a masterpiece.
what the frick are you smoking?
This is easily one of the worst battle themes ever in an RPG.
>This is easily one of the worst battle themes ever in an RPG.
>THIS is EASILY one of the WORST battle themes
>EVER
>in the history of roleplaying games
Play more games, anon.
find me an RPG battle theme that's worse than that annoying shit.
Okay.
I don't get what's wrong with it. It's certainly nowhere near as bad as the most common battle theme from Div:OS, which sounds like the music for the Halloween-themed level in a cartoony 3D platformer.
>i don't get what's wrong with it
It's just annoying clickety clackety shit for the entire song. It makes me want to gouge my fricking ears out listening to it.
>clickety clackety shit
Are you sure it's a problem with the song? Because it kind of sounds like your speakers are broken.
>Are you sure it's a problem with the song?
Yes.
>Because it kind of sounds like your speakers are broken.
are you deaf to percussion or something?
You have to be delusional to think PoE's OST is a "masterpiece."
There's an entire fricking world of difference between "I don't get what's wrong with it," and "masterpiece," genius.
quit pretending you're not OP.
