Previews are coming out in a few hours
This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
?si=p_PJUK1vxFiOwnHq
>Blends melee and gun combat.
>Switch between characters.
>AI companions have bond levels that unlock new abilities.
>Team Ninja wanted combat to feel as if it could be achieved with real training.
>Despite the trailer not making it clear, the game has character creator
>Co-op up to 4 players
>Best Team Ninja game so far
WE FRICKING WON PS5 CHADS
>wanted combat to feel as if it could be achieved with real training
Why the frick would they do that? Just make it fun, not realistic ffs. This is not it
it's bullshit marketing speak
don't worry bro you'll be able to use twenty buffs to one shot any boss just like Nioh
No character creator? Yikes
It has character creator
I don’t really see a world where this game is just good, it seems like it will be either a big letdown or a masterpiece that takes everyone by surprise
Releasing it the same day as Dragon's Dogma II is a terrible decision
>Dragon's Dogma II is a terrible decision
man i really hope the pc port isnt utter trash and isnt ronin PS5 exclusive?
>isnt ronin PS5 exclusive?
for now it is but it'll come to pc in a year
Let's hope the port won't be as ultra fricked as Wo Long's.
Id take wo long performance over sop. That shit is unplayable no matter the setting. At least wo long you can hit 60fps consistent with dynamic resolution and performance mode. But i highly doubt we'll get nioh 2 levels of optimizing on pc ever again
with koei tecmo it's a 50/50 shot if it'll be a good port
I'm huffing copium in thinking that it will be a good port.
>The 2 games that release on PC day 1 have dog shit ports
>The 2 games that are ported post-launch have great ports (performance wise)
I STILL can't fricking play wo long on my 2060 at a smooth frame rate with all settings on low, with dlss on ultra performance. I even tried to go to 720p to try and make it work. Meanwhile I can play shit like baldur's gate or elden ring on high settings with 0 issues.
If having to wait 6-12 months for a port means it won't have any severe performance issues then i'm perfectly fine with that.
Both SOP and Wo-long were just utterly bizzare.
Like something about the lighting engine was just fricking weird, it made some shadows so dark I could barely tell what I was staring at sometimes. Especially bad in SOP
>for now it is but it'll come to pc in a year
no i am aware of that but releasing it on the same day as a multiplatform release like dragon's dogma which sold around 7 mil but then again nioh 2 sold around 2 mil with only a ps4 and pc release. people are more hyped for DD2 online but i wouldn't be surprised if the broader audience picks up ronin because its like assasins creed japan or more ghost of sushi because those shits sold like hot cakes
Not just because it competes with DD2, but since the PC playerbase can only contribute to the DD2 hype cycle, it will likely overshadow the ROTR hype.
>make an entire video about the dubbing
>dubbing sounds like complete shit
what the hell is this lmao
please nuke the entire english language voice industry, it's so terrible, they all the same forced intonations that never sound natural, I hate it so much
Does it even have Japanese dubs outside of Japan?
I haven't been able to find any info on it, PS Store doesn't provide any info and local retailers only mention local languages. Together with the focus on promoting the dubs, I heavily feel that Japanese dub is exclusive to Japan, which would be bullshit.
Imagine publishing a 3rd party open world game set in Japan with a focus on Samurai and only release English and maybe French, German and Spanish dubs. On top release it the same das as Dragon's Dogma 2.
Those are single digit IQ business decisions and if the game fails (it definitely will), Sony will blame the lack of interest for the setting instead of acknowledging their retarted decisions.
>Does it even have Japanese dubs outside of Japan?
Dunno, even IGN Japan is using all English UI and VAs.
im just glad ki pulse is back
>blocking bullets sets your weapon on fire
cool
this LITERALLY looks worse than RDR1
After watching for a bit I think I could fix the frick out of this game with Reshade though. It's got a decent art style, it just looks like it's missing it's graphics. Like when you play a good looking game with lowest graphical settings.
Too bad it's not on PC kek
>ubisoft towers
TN desperately needs tard wranglers.
(me)
Nevermind, I kneejerked. That was probably just a fast travel marker or something.
Still stinks of ubisoft a bit.
Name 5 large open world games that don't copy ubisoft and I swear to allah I will firebomb your home if you dare say elden ring
Jackie Chan
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Minecraft
Fallout New Vegas
Red Dead Redemption 1&2
Metro Exodus (semi-Open World)
Minecraft doesn't count.
Y tho
I don't play (recent) fromshit anyway.
>Xenoblade X
>TES3
>Dragon's Dogma (2 as well, from what I've seen)
>Sacred 2
>Sleeping Dogs
>Jackie Chan
>Minecraft
Good enough? Honestly a dumb request, considering that anyone can just name a bunch of old games and GTA clones.
Somewhat curious how the game turns out. I like a good Japanese setting. Nioh and SoP were alright.
>This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
It's also so ugly that I won't play it. Graphics matter.
It's also confirmed to have the assassin's creed style open world with activities and minigames. The performance is also crappy despite dated graphics.
Of course it is, their engine is made for corridor games
An assassins creed open world but with Team Ninja combat sounds actually good though. And mini games are based. Whether or not I play this or DD2 will depend a lot on how the previews look and if it runs decently well
>I can fish
>WITH A GUN!
>is le bad
Frick off.
It does seem to have decent gameplay but it will most likely run like shit
Why? Nioh 1 and 2 had 60fps modes even on base ps4s
>Removes all mythology
>Everything now looks completely sterile
Also you couldn't pay me to play shite like Ghost of Tsushima and I'm deep into Nioh 2.
>you couldn't pay me to play shite like Ghost of Tsushima
Your loss anon, it's <spoiler>an enjoyable experience</spoiler>
>nationalist japanese game
>PS5 exclusive
The jap press is pushing it harder than dogma.
Commander Perry better be the casual filter like Nioh 1's Shiggy or Nioh 2's Toshimitsu.
Why is Perry here, he died a couple years after opening up Japan
You get sent to assasinate him with your blade twin and get your ass beat, theres probably some runback where you kill him
Anything new/interesting shown there or is it not out yet?
and it's still going to sell worse because it's a playstation exclusive
Who is that yellow cat in the top left corner?
Famitsu mascot
I already have it bought day 1
I'm not sure i will finish rebirth before it though....
What? Dragon smegma 2? No thanks, transexual
Not usually a fan of open world slop but the combat looks fun.
>team ninja
That's a no from me dawg
what would your protag look like?
Caucasian female with blue hair
Feels like this game has negative hype at this point. I mean it never had much to begin with but DD2 releasing the character creator really killed it.
RotR has Character Creation too, but for some reason the devs refuses to market it properly.
it looks bad and that's coming from somebody who actually enjoyed wo long
>WE FRICKING WON PS5 CHADS
what else is new
Its just Way of the Samurai with more fleshed out combat.
SOLD! DAY FRICKING ONE!
No one cares for team sloppa anymore, dd2 mogs this jank fest
yeah the piece of shit game with less feature, 30fps cap and microtransactions is totally better moron
Dogma is already a confirmed goty candidate, cope harder.
>Dogma
hop off the bandwagon lil homie u aren't a true fan
Might be cool, still gonna wait until it's out to see whether I want to get it, DD2, or Unicorn Overlord, but it's either 1st or 2nd from what I've heard.
yeah but the horse animations are bad
Looks too bare bones like Wo Long. Take out the fantastical elements, remove weapons, and layer in open world and it's DOA.
Bummp
its not jacks game so i dont care about anything else from team ninja
and no the current team ninja couldn't make a decent sequel to ng1-3
>confirmed to have nioh loot
based or cringe?
what's nioh loot?
>t. never played a TN game before
the same loot you find in live service games
get ready to spend a good amount of time in the shops selling your weapons and armor after every single mission
diablo loot
Diablo Loot, the worst thing to ever grace gaming that should only ever be in Diablo games and games like Diablo like Torchlight.
oh god really. really? i have to worry about diablo loot autism in the realistic samurai game now too? fricking hell. might as well just wait for this to go on sale and try to will myself to finish nioh 2.
Kinda based if it's really nioh loot, not wo long one (always shit rarity or useless grace, no unique random stats so you salvage 99.9% of it).
It also has only 4 character stats, imagine how dumbed down everything else is.
Where did they confirm that?
https://www.reddit.com/r/riseoftheronin/comments/1bc1cc5/new_spanish_preview_article_based_on_the_full_game/
>Stealth is a actual thing you can do and it works quite well but you can not stealth kill elite enemies or bosses
Lol, still no match for Sekiro. From is so ahead of all these D tier studios
sucks but it's mostly just a mild annoyance until endgame. equip the biggest number and waste time selling/dismantling every once in a while.
Fricking cringe
>hurr fight this boss 33 times for one armor piece with the skill you want
>only 433 battle for the full set
I HATE GATCHA! I HATE JAPAN!
depends on if the game also has nioh combat or not
making dumber, shittier combat but keeping diablo loot would be cringe
The combat is simpler than Wo Long
It's supposed to be a story focused game with deliberately simplified combat, like Ghost of Tsushima
it doesn't. it's literally like ghost of tsushima or for honor, with red attacks and parry, except this time there's no cool yokai or yokai abilities it's just all boring samurai sword shit in a bland open world, according to previews that aren't major sites run by shit journos.
Someone screenshot this, this will be the worst performing game Team ninja has made in the last decade, in terms of appeal/sales.
>boring samurai sword shit
kys
>except this time there's no cool yokai or yokai abilities
that doesn't really matter if there's still stances and lots of weapon skills
youre the type of moron to think dmc games are good
dmc games are ok aside from enemies being underwhelming punishing bags. nioh 1 was a fantastic game without yokai abilities and only having "boring samurai sword shit". stop being moronic
Making enemies "underwhelming punching bags" is the only way to create player freedom, every game with super difficult punishing enemies turns into playing in repetitive and cheesy ways since most of your moves won't be worth using
You are making up a dichotomy of 2 opposite extremes, and it's not even true anyway. You can play nioh 2 any way you want without resorting to meta cheese shit and still clear DotN with ease.
>completely invalidates his own opinion in a single sentence
What's the next step of your master plan?
im worried that the enemy variety is gonna get boring fast without the yokai or other fantastical elements, hope im wrong though.
Three dlcs will fix everything.
>combat could be achieved with real training
>lightning spear
If you had a lightning spear, you could do that too with a lot of choreography and athletic training.
>from the devs of Nioh and Wo Long
guaranteed trash
>coming out in the same timeframe as Dragon's Dogma 2
guaranteed flop
>American Commodore arrives to your nation and threatens your country with cannons until it's opened up
>When including him in your game, make sure to depict him as a handsome gigachad who singlehandedly and expertly fights off 2 Samurai on his ship
Kek, I can't tell if that's based or cucked.
>PS5 exclusive
>coming out same day as DD2
Seriously why though. Any other time of the year and I would have given it a shot.
It also has a parody of the pawn system. Those madmen are seriously believing that they can compete with Capcom.
luckily for you the game doesn't stop existing a week after release
you'll still be able to play it in a few months
i hate Ganker
No
>This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
well they fricked up then lmao
I'm already getting DD2 day 1 so I'm gonna skip out on this, might get it on sale later in the year.
>>Team Ninja wanted combat to feel as if it could be achieved with real training.
alright that does look kinda cool.
Oh nice it's that wolverine guy from the sekiro game
>obnoxious hitstop on everything
sigh
that hitstop looks really fricking bad
That looks so stale and boring. What a shame, I wanted something more like Way of the Samurai and Ghost of Tsushima, not yet another Nioh clone. Wo Long was awful.
Same. My dream game since I was a kid was an open world Tenchu + WOTS. This is the closest to it and it's just another Nioh shitpile ripping off Sekiro.
i miss tenchu so much bros
I just emulated Tenchu Z.
are the texture/model issues fixed now?
You can fix characters but then the leaves on trees and bushes get weird but it's not a big deal.
?si=w5QIxpBsGtYDw0j0
rad, thanks
also you can get 60fps and 4k or whatever, forgot to mention that. 60fps speeds up cutscenes though.
Team Ninja has never made a truly good game. They all suffer from combat that appears deep but is surface level and easily exploitable, only becoming interesting to look at if you juggle enemies for 2 minutes like DMC, but unlike DMC you will never naturally do this or be rewarded for it. Their writing is always trash. Their aesthetic is always the same. They never improve.
>Team Ninja has never made a truly good game.
stopped reading there.
That's fine, it was an introductory summary followed by evidence, so you got the main point.
Opinion isn't evidence my guy.
I've been on Ganker for 10 years and brother that is the most moronic post i've ever read on this hellhole
Not an argument.
wasn't arguing with you boss i was calling you moronic
Not that anon but you hardly put up what I'd call an argument either.
You’re not a real woman.
moron
>Smartest DMCuck
Releasing same day as DD2. DOA. Koei Tecmo shoots itself in the foot yet again.
korean plastic surgery. korean plastic surgery. korean plastic surgery. korean plastic surgery.
I want to like it but Strangers and Wo Long have been pretty disappointing. The marketing campaign for this has also been borderline vague and there's no demo. Story has never been one of Team Ninja's strengths and I still have no idea what you actually DO in this game.
>and I still have no idea what you actually DO in this game.
probably just basic open world stuff
It looks like a PS3 game
Is this the power of the PS5?
on ps3 that would run at 24fps with dips.
So just like the PS5
this is 60fps. its not re engine slop.
Doubt it's even remotely stable 60fps.
>It looks like a PS3 game
Good. Graphics should be going backwards from the shitty laser scanned, pre-canned slop we are getting today.
Artstyle is king buddy
Looks like kino.
holy frick it's the same map team ninja has been making for 20 years
NO WAY
it's an open world game, not a "map"
It's not on fire this time
oh shit so it's sekiro
NO WAY
Sekiro had a fire map it was my favorite part of the game
This would look impressive back in 2014.
No it wouldn't, TW3 came out in 2015
This game looks worse than AC1. It quite literally looks like a mid PS3 game.
>This game looks worse than AC1
ROTR looks awful but you're delusional
>posting out of bounds shit
come on now
haha, no
AC unity will shit on it (it had hundreds of npc's, not 90% of the map being empty like in this game), Witcher 3 will shit on it, Last of us etc
We haven’t reached the lvl of 2014 e3 trailers yet
we haven't even reached the level of fake 2005 killzone 2 trailer yet.
>That NPC pop in and pop out with Yokohama
2024, and still dealing with blatant pop-in like that.
>muh art style
it's just realism. and I'm also really tired of midwits and idiots using that meaningless word to shill games with bad graphics.
Ugh, that's UE5, isn't it?
Looks kino, i can tell the dogma gays are nervous cope posting about this game while theirs is looking very worrisome, says to me this game will be sick
The issue I have with a lot of modern mid budget games is that they still try to use big budget lighting techniques so it looks like shit.
this game doesn't seem to be using any big budget lighting. It's lighting is pretty much exactly the same as nioh.
Still no previews?
no but they've been releasing bts videos with a good amount of gameplay
Until it shows up on PC via Steam, no point. TecmoKoei should not bother with exclusivity garbage, and in fact if they released concurrently they could even take ome of the hype for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut launching ahead of it. Pity.
Sony's been working with them on this game for many years
I haven't kept up with gameplay at all, I'm so fricking pissed they're releasing it same exact day as DD2.
Is the gameplay seemingly closer to Nioh or Wo Long?
Or is it really it's own thing and more like old NG or Tenchu?
>I'm so fricking pissed they're releasing it same exact day as DD2
Why do you have a ps5?
My friend bought me one but it's essentially a fricking paperweight because of my PC, I honestly feel bad.
Why is that relevant though?
Because Ronin is PS5 exclusive unlike DD2
Because i'm not poor.
Next question
I am glad for the 1000 or so people who actually bought a ps5
Can you Dragon’s Dogma shills shut the frick up already?
I’m buying Ronin on day one and look forward to talking about it on Ganker.
>It's another Nioh clone
Fricking cringe, frick off with this gay shit already. Give me Ninja Gaiden 4 or die you fricking asiatics.
>This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
Should have pushed it out till late April or early May. Games gonna get ran over by Dragons Dogma 2.
I don't fricking care, I'm looking forward to both games and will hopefully enjoy both games.
I do not fricking care about a game's sales and I never will.
>This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
And they make it a PS5 exclusive?
Sony is publishing it
I'd be more interested if it was a single mega city like AC Unity, but we've seen some wilderness so I really don't want to run in some fields and shit
I hate you.
Are we going to be getting new raw footage or anything?
Waiting to reveal all this just weeks before release is all kinds of stupid
I think Sony are the ones responsible for marketing.
First previews are coming out
Loot haters on suicide watch.
>If you liked loot like in Nioh
Oh for frick's sake not again.
You may not like it but this is how satisfaction look like.
will likely get a lot of buys after people see that dd2 runs at 24-30fps on ps5. gameplay is king and nobody wants to play a stuttery RPG mess for 100+ hours
yeah dude everyone buying dd2 is going to refund it and run out and buy rise of the ronin instead i believe you
Gameplay is irrelevant. Video games are a visual medium. All Playstation fans understand that.
You're acting like console users have any standards whatsoever kek
Console onlys are getting uppity because they've been treated with 60fps for a little bit, now's about time they get back to what they're used to lol.
Dragons Dogma 2 already won.
Really excited about the co op.
Please just please have more customization for combat like Nioh than Wo Long
Run down of combat
>Game has 3 stance types
>There are several different "styles" that can be equipped to a stance, though it seems they have to match the stance type
>Styles affect the weapons entire moveset, with up to 4 weapon skills equipped to that stance (I assume these skills can be equipped on any stance)
>You can level up styles to gain more of it's abilities, explained that bonding with specific characters of that style level it up but unsure if there are other ways to level them up
>Stats also seem tied to styles(?)
>Game again features a ki system, it's unclear how it will work on enemies but likely similar to nioh yokai and wo long
>Player has a stamina system as well, the game doesn't seem to have ki pulse but there's been footage of some ability that restores a good chunk of your stamina immediately
>Game has a parry button, it's unclear if parry has any advantage against normal attacks other than reducing the amount of stamina damage you take. Against unblockable attacks (red glow) they stun the target however.
>Ranged weapons like Nioh are back but something new seems to be the inclusion of fast weapons like a handgun or shuriken that can be fire rapidly without aiming (I know shuriken were in nioh but they were categorized as a consumable item, not a weapon category)
>Grappling hook is in, can be used to pull enemies towards the player, pull the player towards enemy, or fling environmental items. Hard to say if there's anything beyond that
It seems like they want the game to be more than pure melee attacks but it's hard to say how well that will work if the other aspects aren't as good.
Cool, that's way better than SoP and Wo Long
>the amount of different options per weapon
Looks very reminiscent of Nioh' skill system, I am so fricking ready
>>Game has a parry button, it's unclear if parry has any advantage against normal attacks other than reducing the amount of stamina damage you take. Against unblockable attacks (red glow) they stun the target however.
is that a fist weapon type at the far right?
>bayonet arts
>sabre arts
You have my attention now.
>bayonet and sabre styles
Can I play this as a colonizer?
>game is rpg set in Bakumatsu Japan
>play as white human warrior
you're right, I will play as a white female warrior.
Reminder that romance has been confirmed
>unbodacious b***hes you have to scam solely for their benefits
Blah. By the Emperor, it's like I'm back in Heian.
>Nioh - perfect game
>Nioh 2, character creation - trannies with their endless "look at my character" spam
>Nioh 3, character creation and romance
Now coomers will compete with trannies for most obnoxious morons.
Hope they let me romance one custom character as the other custom character then, don't care about the NPCs.
nice
Is wo long worth it for the co op aspect on ps5? Or should I just wait for this?
Is this still on the fricking updated DOA5 engine?
Anyway, cya in a year when I play this on PC.
I was looking forward to this but the combat seems like nioh 2.0 rather than a system purpose built to really emulate samurai combat
I fricking hated the tap to regain ki system in nioh and that appears to be in ronin too
it's so shit after a while
i've been playing nioh 2 and i'm near the end of the main game, and holy frick it's all become so repetitive. i know exactly what combos are most efficient on enemy types, i know what stances to use, i know i need to tap the button to clear out yokai realms, but jesus why not have something simple that works like how sekiro does it? why does team ninja always bloat their games to fricking hell with mechanics and stats? it makes no god damn sense at all
>why does team ninja always bloat their games to fricking hell with mechanics and stats? it makes no god damn sense at all
I got filtered out nioh1 but then I've put 350h in 2, my take:
The bloat is there because you can build into different things. There is not a magic bullet, but many. The fun begins once you can actually build a build and see if it works. Sadly that begins at lv80. Game gets boring near the end of the first loop because there is nothing more to adapt till you play dlc and loop2. Till you get there the only thing I can suggest you to add variety is to try other weapons and find synergy with basic armor sets
but half the stats are useless, that's what kills me
"12% reduction in the time you spend poisoned" wow that's great, good thing poison is in 1 out of every 10 levels and you can just use an antidote instead
they are called filler stats and they are there to make the grind for perfect pieces take more time. it's intentional, it's literally a looter game like diablo etc
okay
that doesn't make it better
it's the only way to do it. how do you seperate a good piece from a bad piece if there are no undesirable stats? there has to be RNG involved or the entire endgame is over in an hour. stats are mostly meaningless on the standard difficulty throughout the story, so it doesn't matter. it matters in endgame only and its optional to do it
by... making build variety anon? like what exists in the game already? there don't need to be practically useless filler stats when they already have specialized stats that exist for particular playstyles like high stance break increase, strong attack break increase, mid attack stamina light stamina reduction, etc
not sure you get it... nioh 2 story and nioh 2 endgame are basically two different games - nioh 2's endgame is about loot. that can't be the endgame if every piece you pick up is good or useful, because that would shorten the endgame down to a couple of hours since you get 500+ items an hour when farming
Yes stats are mostly useless,
You just need = hp, load for agility A or B, power for nimpo/omnyo and stat checks. First loop is made to be beaten by ppl that doesn't know how to play.
If you wanna have fun and melt everything to close the first loop faster, ck "confusion debuff".
It's really a shame you need to be in loop to unlock the fun stuff with stat (ck ultimate stat skills)
Any and all "muh graphics" arguments because mute after the 360/PS3 era.
There's not been a significant leap in graphics since then, shit's grown stagnant doesn't matter.
>There's not been a significant leap in graphics since then, shit's grown stagnant doesn't matter.
yet you constantly need better and better hardware to run them
Eh, it's not just about technical accomplishment though.
Like look at Tsushima, there's nothing really demanding going on there but it stands out because of good art direction.
Those shinobi look pretty cool.
where the frick are the impressions?
Did they show the open world content already? I like Nioh's combat but if the world is just Assassin's Creed shit with Witcher 3 quests I'll wait for a good sale
The best part about this game is that it doesn't seem like enemies have levels.
Okay, I just found a cardinal fricking vidya sin that I somehow never caught onto before. It seems like stances are involved in some RPS system. In gameplay, they said you want to use the right stance for the enemy, I took this as some stances having access to certain type of tools that made it better to fight them i.e. maybe high stances usually have a guard break to deal with shields.
But after looking at gameplay, it seems your stance deals MORE or LESS damage depending on the enemy type or what stance they're in. I HATE SHIT LIKE THIS. I don't want to feel forced to use a certain stance just because it deals +30% damage against this specific enemy, I want to use stances because they offer unique and interesting abilities and tactics
>it seems your stance deals MORE or LESS damage depending on the enemy type or what stance they're in.
link the clip pls
It's in the screencap
>1st stance has blue arrows up
>2nd stance has grey arrow going both ways
>3rd stance has red arrows down
>Enemies health bar has blue arrows because he's using the right stance.
It might not increase/decrease damage but it's definitely trying to make you use specific stances.
ah i thought there was a new one that showed it was specifically damage. still disappointing either way.
>I took this as some stances having access to certain type of tools that made it better to fight them i.e. maybe high stances usually have a guard break to deal with shields
literally just ghost of tsushima
Thought the same watching the gameplay
that's pretty gay, now it's just automatic
>enemy use scissor stance
>grug use rock stance
Something interesting to note is that attack power is seemingly tied directly to stance and each stance gives different bonuses to the 4 core RPG stats.
God I hate this general so fricking much. Every two post some homosexual is saying "muh dragon dogma". I don't give a shit about DD2, Palworld, ER or whatever shit you like
*board
Looks like a really janky budget Ass Creed ripoff.
Will this game even come close to Nioh 2 levels of kino?
Damn! Code? I wouldn't mind playing as rachel
I'm not at my PS5 right now. I just used a YouTube video to make that chick and then tweaked it a little bit.
>muh DD2
Is that game even popular outside of this shithole? It probably going to sell less than DMC5 or one of the new RE because it's a niche game. I can't wait for the game to come out so you can shut the frick up about that game
>Is that game even popular outside of this shithole?
not really
it sold 2 million copies in the first 3 years
it has sold 7 million now, but that's because it's constantly on sale for less than 5 dollars on steam
Yeah, just what I though nobody outside give a shit and Ronin is PS5 exclusive so who the frick give a shit? According to all the homosexuals here (who are always wrong) nobody has a ps5
No. DD2 also seems like it's literally being built for fans of the first game, so I think we're going to be seeing tons of people getting filtered when it comes out, and that is a good thing.
I want to play this way more than DD2 but buying at launch seems silly when it's almost certainly gonna be like half of the rrp for a physical copy in 2 months
Is this going to be shit like Nioh 2, ie:
>it only gets good after you beat it once trust me bro
Got pretty burnt by that game and lost interest completely before final boss (forced myself to beat final few chapters and had 0 interest in ng+)
you'll have to wait and see but they're selling it as a different genre, RoR is being presented as an open world rpg with narrative elements whilst nioh was always sold as an arpg
>THIS is the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
oh no...
Alright, analyzed gameplay some more and I found how the new "ki pulse" system works
>Primary weapon has a bar under it
>When you attack, bar fills up
>Pressing some button causes a quick animation that refills some of your ki and resets the weapon bar to 0
>Bar doesn't seem to go down passively and is tied to weapon, so switching weapons have different bars.
>Blocking (but not getting hit apparently) reduces this bar but parrying prevents this
>Bar might not need to be filled up entirely to use it this ki pulse ability but gives more ki the more the bar is filled(?). Likely get some bonus from using it when it's full
I like this system but I want to know if there is more tech behind this. If it can be used to cancel recovery of your moves, I really like it since it's somewhat of a great incentive to be aggressive.
Webm related shows this off, watched the yellow bar in the bottom right
>realistic only human enemies game
>7 foot tall man with big claws strapped onto him
what's the point in doing a non-fantasy setting if you aren't going to commit to it in a meaningful way
it's team ninja man they have no idea how to commit
morons don't know what real giants are when there are accounts. He just has claw blades. Not wild at all.
Consume more nip media, Japlet.
I was wondering about whether it needed to be full or not as well. I hope it can be done at any point simply with the ki recovery scaling with how full it is. This is mainly because that quick animation where they swing the weapon to the side might work as sort of an animation cancel.
Yeah you can see him use it without it being full in this timestamp
?si=tdV50aw86rcfmklp&t=150
I think it's cool. You can be ultra aggressive and use it to cancel stuff when the bar is low, or you can try to fill the bar up and go for a big combo where you use as much ki as possible.
It kind of seems like a "stored" ki pulse. Instead of needing to ki pulse right after an attack, you just save it and can ki pulse whenever you want.
Nice. I love the deflect mechanic being central to the gameplay, its what makes sop and wo long better than nioh. Dodging is for gays. The pace also looks really good, animations look impactful, and I'm a fan of this camera angle which is reminiscent of ninja gaiden. If this is sop / wo long set in japan I'm all for it. Too bad its not on PC.
have a nice day
So this shit is just a mishmash of wo long and sop? I hope this game kills Team Ninja and they wont get to make NG4.
>abandon Nioh for a realistic game
>throw in Long Arm Centipede (standing addition) from Sekiro
Fricking hell TN
not sure about having it so small and down in the corner like that like, but the idea seems good. a good sound cue could make it a nonissue too
>Switch between characters
???
Yeah there are multiple characters per mission.
Nioh Collection for €70 or Rise of the Ronin? I've played Nioh 1 on release but 2 seems much better.
nioh goes on sale for less than that quite often
I'm talking about the physical PS5 version.
You can get Nioh 2 for like 12 USD for the current Humble Choice, and because of that loads of keyshops are also selling Steam keys for around the same price.
Both. Nioh 2is literally the best melee combat game of all time.
what did they change from nioh 1
trying that out now and I don't really like it
>More weapons
>Higher enemy variety
>Specific counter moves
>Demon power moves
Gives the game a shit ton of variety in terms of how you plat it
Its just as bad dont believe this anon. I actually prefer Nioh for the reasons he listed. It added le more wacky stuff but the gameplay and the levels are only very slightly improved. All the moves feel so janky just like the first game.
Lol what a loser buying digital scams
Just buy the physical games for like 10 bucks
I don't buy digital shit unless it's DRM-free.
>nioh loot again
it's like these gays hate money
The Diablo loot ruins everything.
It's likely a side effect of how KT designs their games. They just keep building upon a base until the base is completely broken. We've gone from like Nioh to Nioh 2 to Wo Long to This.
No hot sexualized female characters with coomer outfits
On one hand its Team Ninja so you could pic rel as a Kunoichi clan or something
On the other hand they are trying to make this more ''realistic''.
KYS
pusy
They havent done coomkino in a long time and it's all SJWs fault
The Chinese girl in Wo Long was super sexy though.
Fully clothed women arent sexy
Gay detected
Low test
Smelly fat virgins arent a thing vidya so it makes sense to not complain about them
>Low test
says the porn addict who has not touched pussy in his life and will never do without paying upfront. why don't you busy yourself wanking instead of screeching about the lack of porn addict fan service in a game that's trying to do a grounded and realistic depiction of Boshin war era Japan?
Cause it's a Team Ninja game, the only reason theres no hot sexualized female characters with coomer outfits is cause they were tamed by low test SJWs such as yourself
Settling for the crumbs youre allowed to have makes you a neutered cuck, fully clothed women arent sexy
>liking women is low test
Lmfao
neither are fat smelly virgins like you buy you don't see me complaining.
>Local anon makes it his goal to be the gayest man ever
Wo Long is a great game. its fun, challenging, beautiful atmosphere music and character models. based af dialogue story and story. best game of 2023 ngl tbh
i got into it with all the DLC, and it bugs me that the cool spells, plus martial arts swapping and stuff, is locked to new game+. should have just been available from the start for late adopters
Based. Also extremely comfy to play. Boss fights are the best in the genre, especially when you figure them out and style on them. Wo long is my go to game when I'm itching for action, even over ninja gaiden now. I just wished they upgraded all weapons to have some unique mechanic like long sword
>unique mechanics like long sword
but they did. for example spears and glaives build up a debuff which stuns the enemy once full.
How does the game play with all of the DLC? Base game was just, deflect until full bar, press spirit attack.
Really good. You get new weapons, long sword especially is very fun. Combat is faster, comboing is easier, you can afford to be really aggressive and not just deflect. Unfortunately a lot of good changes are very late game like to the gear and 6 martial arts
>porn addicts when documentaries about the American Civil War don't have big titty women walking around in lingerie
>porn addicts when documentaries about the American Civil War don't have big titty women walking around in lingerie
If it has sekiro or wo long ddr rhythm combat i dont want nothing to do with it
Ive played them both already and ive had my fill
New IP here.
For me, it is the odachi.
>no IP count
What the frick?
Stances are annoying
so is the loot
so is flux
so is having like 30 buffs and debuffs
honestly not a single fricking thing team ninja added to the core formula was something that makes you say "yeah, good shit", it's all just bloat and poor design
I heard you can form alliances with certain factions/characters that will impact the story, can you also befriend the Americans? Fighting alongside Admiral Perry to Westernize Japan would be kino.
probably not as their own separate faction, but i'd be surprised if there weren't any foreign advisors. not having the french mission show up in some capacity would be a big missed opportunity
https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/rise-of-ronin-factions
>Finally, there's the Obei, otherwise known as the Western forces.
>The Bakumatsu era represents the transition between Edo-period Japan and Meiji-era modernized government (broadly speaking), and the Western forces in Rise of the Ronin are looking to Japan as a potential trade partner.
>Their key players are the United States Commodore Matthew Perry (no, not that one) and the British diplomat Rutherford Alwiener, who harbors a "profound fascination for Japanese craftsmanship".
Man I'm lazy, should've looked it up.
wow they didn't even try with alwiener's model
My guess is they're going for a stylized depiction. The female characters looked cute so far, so I don't mind the caricaturizing a British ambassador.
yeah that's not a real complaint, just kinda striking next to perry. but he's a lot more recognizable and well known so it makes sense.
Now the important question: IS THERE NIOH LOOT OR HAS TEAM NINJA GROWN A BRAIN!?
>IS THERE NIOH LOOT
Yes.
I guess, I will wait untim complete edition.
I read in this very thread there's Nioh loot.
2 mysteries I still have about the game.
First is webm related, I have no clue what might be going on here, the player completely cancels the recovery of his attack immediately into a quick attack that knocks them out of their red attack. I don't think it's a parry/counterspark because it's an actual attack that damages the enemy and I don't specifically know how you would make the parry button do an attack. It's not a weapon skill because the UI for it doesn't pop up. The only other possibility is that it's simply a unique ability tied to the style and the game really does just let you cancel between them this aggressively.
The second mystery is how counterspark actually works. There's so much conflicting info from various videos and blogs. In one PS blog, they say counterspark will knock enemies back/stun them when parrying unblockable red attacks however, in several footage we see parries do nothing to the enemies attack but seemingly arbitrarily will knock enemies away for guaranteed attacks. In one video, they claim the counterspark system is "unique" to the game and say it's "actions based on the enemies moves" which implies it can do more than just parry and maybe that's what this webm is but I don't know. I don't think they would try to claim a parry button is a unique game feature when wo long and SoP have parry buttons and obviously all of their other games had parries as well. I want to believe there's more to this system than just tapping a button with the rhythm of the enemies attack but there's no way to tell til more info comes out.
Wo Long solved the loot issues previous games had had but they have said they've reduced loot systems even more in this game likely because it's open world.
Counterspark could potentially be an attack for some weapons/styles when used during a normal attack string.
That actually seems super probable and I feel stupid for not realizing that. The menu for styles shows counterspark alongside all of your attacks and stance skills, there would be no reason to lump counterspark in there unless it's unique to the stance.
Game actually sounds more dope the more I analyze it but it's absolutely moronic that I have to analyze a small amount of clips to understand wtf is going on with combat because they've failed to properly explain it themselves.
honestly it's done more to sell me on the game than their actual marketing, not sure wtf they were thinking.
Autism
Wo Long didn't solve anything with loot and was the worst implementation so far due to attaching MAs to it. The only good thing it did was how it you could extract skills out of the weapon to then store and reattach to whatever you want. In order to really fix their gear systems then need to get rid of the idea of weapon rarities in altogether. Taking a Bloodborne styled blood gem system would work much better. The RNG aspect needs to be it's own item that's fully removed from the weapons and armor itself. I love all their modern action RPGs despite the Diablo loot, not because of it. I loved the set building in SoP but none of the RNG elements really needed to be attached to the gear itself and TN still doesn't seem to understand this. I'm still skeptical about how gear is in Ronin until I actually see screenshots of it myself.
>due to attaching MAs to it.
They let you change MA's on weapons forever ago in a patch.
>The RNG aspect needs to be it's own item that's fully removed from the weapons and armor itself.
They already do that in Wo Long. You literally explained how it works. You could reroll that stuff in Nioh but the problem is that, well it was still RNG, but it was also something you could only do way later. Wo Long lets you start getting into gear building pretty early on in the first playthrough so the gear and rpg systems are actually useable and because of the ability to extract gear skills to attach later, grinding isn't really a thing outside of really specific stuff.
>They let you change MA's on weapons forever ago in a patch.
yeah after u purchase the season pas and replay the game several times
have a nice day shill
They made that change before the 2nd DLC released. Which means you haven't bothered to touch the game after the first DLC even though we know that TN does a ton of free post-launch updates to improve their games.
You're mad because you got called out for basing your opinions on your launch playthrough.
What you're referring to is the option to change INPUTS for MAs, not the MAs themselves. Commit group suicide with your family idiot
>What you're referring to is the option to change INPUTS for MAs, not the MAs themselves.
Wrong
>0 proof
>braindead shill didnt even play the game he shills
Yes, I'm well aware but it took them forever to let you change your MAs and they should've never designed it this way to begin with. The cost for replacing them is expensive, it's not unlocked until way too late, and you can't re-equip previous obtained MAs without buying them again. When going through the game at launch the loot experience was bad because I never wanted to get rid of a weapon because that meant discarding part of my moveset with no guarantee of it showing up again. The DLCs improved the game a lot and I did enjoy Wo Long overall but this design choice is undefendable.
As for the second part of my post, I don't think you understood me at all. The RNG aspect should not be the gear itself, the actual skills should be fully separate items that go into their completely separate container. Bloodborne is an example of how you do the Diablo loot system properly. You only get about one copy of each weapon, all the blood gems are your RNG based skill drops that you can freely add and remove from weapons at no cost.
It seems like you're the one who needs to grow a brain. If loot systems really filter you that much, then you're unironically a brainlet.
>if you don't like eating shit ur breinlett
Deepthroat a flaming rake.
>WAAAH TOO MANY NUMBERS TOO MUCH THINKY MAKE GAME DUMB FOR ME

>>This has been confirmed to be the biggest, ambitious and most important Team Ninja game so far
That would be Nioh 3 or Ninja Gaiden 4

Coal posting clown
How does it look like Dark Souls? Maybe like Sekiro.
>it instantly reminded me of [2 completely different games]

It's gonna suck. They haven't made anything that's not mid since 2008.

can you post the I DON'T GIVE A FRICK WHO YOU ARE webm? I need that shit in my life.
>Ganker hates last of us and other movie games
>Ganker also nonstop b***hes about graphics
PCgays truly are a blight. I just want good gameplay, I don't give a frick about unoptimized hyper polygons
>don't care about optimization i just consume
lol lmao
reread moron
whenever there's an unoptomised game pc posters have started bragging about how it runs better for them than consoles lol
That's also true, though. Even a poorly optimized game runs better and looks better on PC than on console.
I want good gameplay(this game doesn't have it) and good graphics.
Are they are Yokai/demon enemies or is it literally all just Japanese dudes and colonials wielding sharp objects of varying sizes the whole game? Humans are the most boring shit to deal with in 3rd person action gameplay.
Ok cool, may try it after all.
I fricking hate stupid grab attacks in action games. Nothing dumber than a shit hitbox grab followed by unskippable reused cutscene to break up the action
Team ninja have been pretty good with grab attacks. It's not like fromslop at all.
Nioh 2 even should you the pixels on a lot of them lol
Do we know the timeline on a PC release? I can't justify a PS5 for one game, unfortunately. Didn't Nioh 1/2 release a year after?
This will not have a good PC port. Just get the snoy machine it's not that expensive and you can eventually play the asiatic game and GTA on it
>Rise of Ronin
>Dragon's Dogma 2
>Mildly hyped for both
>The more they show of both games the worse they look
March is going to be a dud for vidya.
Doing worse than a multi-platform game. Uh oh
Apparently you can romance girls in the game. I'm a simple man, so if the girls are cute and the gameplay is decent, I'm playing this
I will only buy it if I can romance Taka, my beloved.
>another dogshit Soulslike Nioh clone
No thanks. This company is worse than Ubisoft at this point.
PC chads we'll be getting the complete edition with dlcs included. Given team ninjas track record with dlcs I'd say the wait is worth it.
Hopefully with 4k texture mods and pathtracing, the game in it's current state looks terrible.
Combat looks janky as frick, hopefully it isnt as bad as Nioh (not seeing how you can becworse than that honestly)
I really like the style idea because it solves one of the issues I had with Nioh's stances.
In Nioh, the base moveset for stances often weren't interesting enough. Low stance especially is almost universally trash. It's only weapon skills that would make using multiple stances for attacking useful but this was also very weapon specific. Tonfa for example has basically nothing going on in low and mid stance (beyond mid stance parries) so with the basic attacks offering nothing exciting, I would only ever use them for flux or dodging.
RotR seems to fix this by giving every style it's unique combo attacks and strings and from what we've seen there's actually a lot of variety. It seems like it'll be really fun to find different styles and try them out.
Except you're always stuck having to pick styles based on the RPS system, and styles have different stat scalings so they're tied to your build, so you have much less freedom than you'd think
We don't know how that system works fully yet or if the potential damage difference is even that big of a deal.
I don't trust journos. All of team ninja games are really aggressive when you understand how combat works. People still claim Nioh is a "souls clone" when you can do shit like this when you git gud.
I hated both SoP and Wo Long so I don't have high hopes for this.
I hated how low stance looked cool but did so little damage that it was never really worth attacking with
>Low stance especially is almost universally trash.
Say what now? Low stance is amazing because of the mobility and iFrames it offers.
I really hate the direction of Nioh. It looks cool but it's just Souls for ADHD edgy kids with stat autism. I hated playing the first game.
>it's just Souls for ADHD edgy kids
Now in English.
Was gonna buy DD2 but after watching Shogun I’m in a Japanese mood.
>For those familiar with Team Ninja’s recent run of modern action classics, Rise of the Ronin places a much greater emphasis on the duel itself. The game achieves this by prioritizing parries, called Countersparks, that drain your enemy’s Ki (stamina), which in turn makes them vulnerable to gruesome critical hits. Optimal play seems to emphasize staying within striking distance and timing your opponents’ attacks to counter, rather than the attack-and-dodge routine typical in games of this type. The combination of metal-on-metal clangs and bright sparks flying gives these duels a very cinematic feel—as does the speed with which you can slay your foes following successful Countersparks. Critical hits are varied and brutal, replete with detached limbs and massive blood sprays, making Counterpsarks worth the significant risk to pull off.
Sekiro was a mistake.
>witness souls
>copy souls
>witness sekiro
>copy sekiro
What a bunch of absolute homosexuals. Ninja Gaiden was just Dead or Alive as a hack and slash and was original despite the existence of DMC. Nu-Team Ninja just make inferior clones.
I'm just going to keep playing Nioh until I die, action games are dead
Extremely based. Zero skill roll shitters seething. Deflect chads winning
>my flavor of iframes is better than your flavor of iframes
I don't get why anyone would be upset at this, there's so many fricking games out there now if you like rolling around
Every modern action game is a sekiro clone, just as every action game before that was a souls clone, and both trends sucked
Roll to win and deflect to win are both bad
Because dodging is a good mechanic and parry isn't, simple as that
Parry
>Requires only a single button press
>Doesn't require any spacing
>Has very little recovery
Imagine thinking this is skillful. Souls rollslop is bad too but at least there's an extra layer of decision making because of spacing and direction rolled.
yah parry shit sucks. Lies of P did it alright since the timing was tight at least. ironically if ronin was like that and you coudl break the enemies weapon it could at least be somewhat cool, if it's standard red attack nioh/wo long parry shit, garbage as frick,.
Team ninja deflects aren't like sekiro. There's deflect counter attacks in wo long that auto switches weapons, multiple ways to deflect and parry in nioh that positions you differently around the enemy.
>Team ninja deflects aren't like sekiro
They're worse, in wo long anyways. Nioh is a completely different situation because parrying isn't a core mechanic and much more situational. Nioh 2 burst counters are a shit mechanic however but the issues with it are different than the argument about normal parryslop
I'm guessing that different stances will offer different deflect benefits. And ofc can assign different deflect types e.g. move behind, knock down. Deflects will also differ by weapon. Add deflect counter attacks we have a kino old samurai movie like duels. Rolling around like an butthole looks moronic kino duels clang simple as
No, you just have a universal parry button (triangle), stances just affect whether you get the full bonus from parrying based on the RPS advantage system
Unlikely. Niohs 1kat had three types of parries if I'm not mistaken. They will introduce different types of deflects to use in different situations
We don't know the full extent to how the system will work. One of the preview guys I listened to said he didn't even get access to a 2nd style in his playthrough so previews are worthless. Read earlier in the thread for some theories that styles might have a unique counter spark used after attack strings
>theories
Meaningless without something to back them up
This is not Nioh, the combat system is supposed to be extremely simple
The only major difference here is no yokai skills/magic and you don't have a heavy attack button. That's it. this game has a grappling hook for combat/movement and you can quickfire revolvers. It has a stance system with styles that are about as advanced as nioh's minus 1 button
Every single style is just
>basic attack string
>charged attack
>gap closer attack
>4 special moves
It's a joke compared to Nioh
Yeah and that's about as many attacks you'd have on a single stance in Nioh
>Light attack string
>Heavy attack string
>Heavy ender from light string
>Guard+Light skill
>Guard+Heavy skill
>Maybe a charged attack if you were lucky
Some stances and weapons could have more but it was highly specific i.e. 1kat having that forward+light ender done on low stance
Holy fricking shit they really ripped off Sekiro 1:1
>top: kino
>bottom: kino
everything seems fine to me chief. god i love video games
>replete with detached limbs
Not a gurogay but nice~
*yawn*
I'm so fricking bored of Sekiro mechanics
>watching cowboys preview video
>so far all complaining about the open world being boring and graphics being shit and combat is just ok
>says game overall feels dated despite being a 2024 game
oh nonono even the biggest action game shill is already complaining
Cant shill two games at a time
Thoughts?
>ghost of tsushima: sekiro - yank of the year edition
>While Rise of the Ronin isn’t quite a Souls game and sails much closer to something like the aforementioned Ghost of Tsushima, it’s impossible not to be reminded of the FromSoftware classic when in combat.
>Rise of the Ronin’s skirmishes are all about parrying and posture. Every character you fight will have a posture bar that’s separate from their health. Depleting this will open the enemy up to a deadly blow that will do a lot of damage, or instantly kill some lower-level enemies.
>The fastest way to get rid of this posture is to accurately parry incoming attacks. Parrying normal attacks will prevent you from taking damage and reduce a small amount of the enemy’s posture.
>When the attack glows red and the enemy charges at you full of bloodlust, you have the option of dodging it and avoiding the potentially huge amount of damage said attack will do, or you can attempt to parry it, which more often than not instantly opens the window for a devastating blow.
>Combat is fun and it’s satisfying to get into a rhythm with taking down multiple enemies, the only issue we’ve faced early on is reading what the enemy is going to do. Outside of the two colours differentiating what kind of attack is going to be used, there’s little in the way of telegraphing.
>In practice, this means that even for the weakest enemies, you’ll likely have to watch them perform their attacks a few times before you get their patterns down. This is fine for huge bosses, but it really interrupts the flow of fighting mobs, and ruins the cinematic feel that the game achieves in other areas.
>Like Nioh, enemies in the game can be weak or resistant to specific fighting styles, which can be easily switched between. This largely impacts how much damage those devastating blows do when you’ve whittled down the composure of an enemy.
>parry EVERYTHING
How did this ever become popular
>there’s little in the way of telegraphing.
FromSoft ruined gamers. I've heard this issue before and i've literally never had a problem with telegraphing. I think the games have much more telegraphing compared to dogshit like elden ring which purposefully delays moves to punish your instincts.
I fundamentally disagree with the idea that every attack has to be hugely telegraphed and easily reactable anyway, especially in a game with powerful parries like this. What's wrong with having to watch your spacing and positioning, and having to make sure to approach safely by observing enemy behavior and keeping your guard up appropriately so you don't get caught out by a quick hit?
Is just mindlessly running up into enemy's faces and pressing your parry button in time with big telegraphed attacks all that action games should amount to?
I don't fully disagree. I was actually wrong with my previous post but it ties into what you were described. In Ninja Gaiden, enemies have grabs with very poor telegraping and these are some of the deadliest attacks in those games. The thing is though enemies only go for grabs when you're being defensive and staying clsoe. These grabs exist to punish you specifically for trying to play reacively (like you would in a dark souls game). If you move around a lot and are aggressive, the chance of you getting grabbed randomly become pretty low. I really like how it works in NG.
They've also said in an interview in RotR that counterspark is meant to be used as a prediction to the opponent so that guy might be right and they might've pulled a ninja gaiden where they've designed ass raping moves that punish you for playing too defensive/reactively.
>They've also said in an interview in RotR that counterspark is meant to be used as a prediction to the opponent
Do you have a link? That sounds more interesting then. Even if I still don't like the free big parry red moves.
>>The fastest way to get rid of this posture is to accurately parry incoming attacks. Parrying normal attacks will prevent you from taking damage and reduce a small amount of the enemy’s posture.
>

My only cope is that dodging these moves give you a bigger punish window but won't deal as much ki damage
>NOOOO I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO PLAY A FUN GAME AGAIN AAAIIIIIEEEEEE SAVE ME MIYAZAKI-SAN I NEED MY ROLLSLOP
>spam guard to win

yes
miyazaki made sekiro u mong.
Instead we get parryslop
It's just a journo review, I have a feeling that rather than parrying normals it might be ultimately more effective to break "posture" with attacks like you would in Nioh.
But of course red counters are obligatory as usual.
is this directed by the Nioh 2 game? i really liked that game but haven't like Team Ninja's output since. I hope this is more of a return to form.
ODACHI BROS
WE WON
why does it look like a ps3 game?
The graphics look like my old GTX 970 rendered them. Like a game from 10 years ago with 3.5GB of textures max. How come?
>homosexual says the game has "elden ring inspiration" with the open world
>Doesn't elaborate
I hate journos so fricking much
>Player is born in Japan in a small Japanese village in the countryside.
I hope you'll play as an Asian and not a Whitey Ganker.
I'll make the crustiest Uncle Ruckus looking fricker and then wait until the winner of the waifu wars emerges and then post screenshots of my character romancing her. I'll also constantly mention Yasuke.
shit looks lame as frick just play ghost of tsushima when it comes out on PC
The game with the ugliest Females? No thanks.
already played that, not interested in double dipping.
>ghost of tsushima
gameplay-wise it's really boring, typical underwhelming western shit. ronin looks much more fun
>Option to kill or spare enemies in certain missions
>Said characters can pop up in sidequests later where you can kill them again or even have them join you as an ally
sounds kino to me
>you can kill them again
so what's the point
I meant if you spare them, you get another chance to kill them.
>We want the combat to be grounded and realistic
>Show off juggling combos and flying around on a glider
from just the slightest glance while scrolling, the color scheme of this made me think it was an outer wilds thread
That is all
Good luck getting the second PS5 worth playing, sonybros
cute, I hope it does good
now, I'll wait until it releases on PC
Oh shit IGN's preview is absolutely glowing
Team Ninja bros we are so back.
>2:25
that's a katana sequence straight out of nioh, complete with ki pulse
Entire game is an asset flip slop. How does it look worse than their Ninja Gaiden games lmao?
You know that the game literally has a stance style named "hayabusa" right? And you don't know the definition of asset flip, do you really think team ninja went back to games over a decade old and somehow ported the animation files directly into a different game engine?
moron
>nooo a developer should not use their experience gained from over two decades of making video games!
have a nice day Black person. you probably the same homosexual complaining about asset usage in fromsoft games as well.
you know nothing.
>nooo a developer should not use their experience gained from over two decades of making video games!
Explain why they chose to make dumbed down parry slop then.
have a nice day Black person. remain ignorant and stay out. team ninja games are too based for someone such as yourself.
>noooo!! protect simon says slop at all costs!!!!
good, stay out.
Because Nioh was too complicated for most people and they want to make more accessible games that more people can enjoy
Re-using cool animations is bad because....?
Some of these are definitely a stretch too
>Re-using cool animations is bad because....?
Because it looks worse lmao. Nu-TN is just riding on NG 2's coattails
It works worse because...?
We all have eyes here buddy. ninja gaidens are much more exaggerated, that doesn't mean the animation is better. It's a different style.
keep malding and seething tho. i'm gonna enjoy the game regardless. Pointing out these issues only makes people more excited than anything
The entire thread has been shitting on your slop for it's ps3 graphics lmao easier on the copium troon.
Still buying it, still enjoying it.
>ai slop
not giving it to u
Holy shit it has ng animations??? We're so fricking back. Too bad I dont have a ps5
>2:31
>backstab into sister pouncing and finishing them off
kino
KINO
>Flying swallow
>Izuna drop
His great great grandfather is without a doubt going to appear
Maybe. preorder bonuses revealed the game will have Hayabusa styles for the katana and nagnata. There's also a Nioh style.
>hold block
>press grappling hook button
>mash square
PRESS X TO AWESOME
There's literally nothing wrong with this type of game design and I'm tired of pretending there is.
>parry
>weapon skill
>light light light
>riposte
I don't know. I have a bad feeling this game is going to suck as hard as wo long.
no dismemberment?
Blame Cero
probably only the nip version. global release will have dismemberment.
>realistic
Glad I didn't preorder. LootBlack person pieces of shit.
How is it? Another Wo Long situation or a return to form?
>diablo loot again
Into the trash
If Ninja Gaiden 4 ever happens it's going to be another simon says shit with red attacks
Frick NG3 for creating this shit system
NG4 will be made with true passion and love.
here you go
>even character creator is downgraded
DD2 bros won so hard lmao
Downgraded how?
BASED BASED BASED. I wonder if the genders are forced or if you can make both same sex
>genders
you mean body type
They're both fully customizable.I think one of the interviews said they don't really go into detail what the exact nature of their relationship is. IGN guy is just guessing that they're siblings.
they use the term 'blade twin' in the op video so they're probably not blood related but trained together and all that
>type 3
what
I'm assuming it will be something like Type 1 is smallest and Type 10 is biggest.
thats what the preset is called since its not a slider. is it really that hard to understand that?
A, B, C, etc. is very offensive
1, 3, 3, etc. is brave and stunning
Can someone email team ninja and tell them to make the font cooler and not arial
Just play in Japanese.
>two playable custom characters
Good shit homie, I hope Dimps is taking notes.
Sadly. The implication seems to be that one of the blade twins dies or something happens that makes them unplayable after a certain early section of the game.
It's probably an AC Odyssey situation
betting they side with whatever faction the player opposes.
"Something happens" sounds plausible, but it'd be dumb for them to just die. Wasn't there an early interview that said you can choose (at any point) which of the characters to progress as? Or something like that.
there's a couple trophies where you find out the twinis still alive, and another one where "you seal their fate"
>wo long dlc finally made magic cool
>get rid of it next game
feels bad
Magic was fun from the start if you used fire. I agree though, magic was a weak aspect in nioh and they massively upgraded in wo long.
>burgers made a better samurai game than literal nips
what went wrong?
>Confirmed Nioh (live-services) loot
>Combat still looks like the jank shit they've been putting out for four games now
Why can't they just make a normal fricking game for once.. somehow they're hamfisting this shit in an "open-world" game this time.
(you)
Frick frick frick why can't this be like a week away from DD2 I don't know which to get first
I'm assuming dd2 will get performance patches down the line and going with this first
>Switch between characters
dropped
>katana
>2katana
>spear
>naginata
>chinese saber
>western saber
>bayonet
>odachi
>longsword
>fists (possibly)
a lack of axes
Are these all confirmed weapon categories or are you just assuming. Nioh would lump similar weapons together as one type i.e. axe and hammer, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same here especially since styles exist.
those are the confirmed weapon categories yeah. https://blog.ja.playstation.com/2024/02/24/20240224-ronin/
>ghost of tsushima with guns
meh
its just nioh again homie.
Can't fricking wait
I didn't like what they did with Wo Long, but this looks a lot better.
I still need to see veiled edge 1 CC
there's a class system of some kind?
it's probably just what you start with like weapon choice in nioh 1
>Seducer
Based. Kunoichi build is on the way.
I HATE PARRYSLOP
I HATE PARRYSLOP
I HATE PARRYSLOP
I HATE PARRYSLOP
I HATE PARRYSLOP
I AM BUYING DD2 DAY 1 NOW
so you never played dd?
i played 1 and didn't parry once no.
8 minutes of video and no gameplay
>commodore perry is the tutorial boss
love how this guy lives rent free in the japanese zeitgeist
You will probably get the opportunity to get revenge in him later down the line unless you become his ally.
How long until the PC port? I played Nioh 1 on PS4, but I really can't justify buying a PS5.
Probably gonna like Nioh 2.
probably in half to a whole year. but who knows
luv nioh 1 n 2
luv stranger of paradise
luv wo long
luv sekiro
luv elden ring
luv dark souls series
will be getting Rise of Ronin and Dragons Dogma 2 day one and will have lots of fun with both.
Team ninja capcom fromsoft and a few other developers are the only ones worth my time attention and money nowadays and have made some of the best video games conceived.
trannies stay seething coping and dilating that I wont buy or play their western homosexual propaganda disguised as video games.
asiatics stay malding that I dont give a frick about soulless korean shits
nintentrannies stay fuming that others arent corporate worshipping prostitutes such as themselves.
I kneel
apparently you can create two women for the twins
Previewer says that the advantage you get from picking the right stance vs an opponent is just more ki damage from parrying them. So it doesn't seem like the game actually punishes you for picking the wrong stance, it just means your parries will be less effective.
>you won't be punished, the game's main mechanic will just be less effective
>Implying you need parries to win
This isn't Sekiro where your attacks deal no fricking damage son, this is a team ninja game.
Have you played Wo Long?
Yes and? You can unironically play without parrying and win.
lol
It's literally true and it's not even hard, the RPG mechanics support that playstyle. Also tanky builds too.
It's gonna be the same here. The game will give support to a variety of playstyles, you won't be forced the parry if you don't want to. In fact, I guarantee you the game will have some degenerate ways to combo bosses and break their ki without doing a single parry
I LOVE PARRYKINO! I WANT TO PREDCIT MY OPPONENT'S MOVES AND CRUSH THEIR OFFENSIVE DISPATCHING THEM IN ORGASM INDUCING STYLE!
Release the pc demo team ninja
Guys is Wo Long actually good?
No. It's a half-assed, China pandering asset flip with terrible combat, bad loot, bad level design, bad enemy variety, etc.
Yes it's very fun and comfy
It's fun if you don't go in expecting it to be Nioh level of combat complexity. The magic system is really fun and I think the flow feels great when you get good.
