how badly will this run on pc
It won't, it's a PS5 exclusive.
kek why do they keep doing this garbage? nobody owns a ps5
It's a timed exclusive like Nioh.
Don't fall for Snoy lies, they are extremely assblasted now since Sony literally abandoned them in an official statement today.
Everyone owns a PS5 for exclusives sorry poorgay
I do
>impotent pcgaymer rage
PCs are made for working, not for gaming. That is why you shitpost on Ganker instead of working
Because they are broke plus their game don't sell anymore
Just accept it pc is not meant for gaming, what was the last game that you played is optimised for pc yet all these game runs buttery smooth on ps5
>he's too poor to be an idort
Literally just bribes.
They'd rather have a bunch of money now than more money over time.
And they can double dip later when it finally gets ported.
It's my favorite setting so I'm cautiously optimistic, and I hope they don't frick it up
yeah, about that...
0 fps for probably a year
Nioh 3 will save TN.
only if there are monster breasts, which is likely (but not guaranteed)
There was a cat-girl with breasts in a wheelchair in Nioh2.
There was also undead lightning breasts and schizo scythe chick breasts
>ignoring the abundant water snake breasts
i've played and enjoyed nioh 1/2/wo long but the timing is extremely unfortunate for this game. It just doesn't exist until dragon's dogma 2 is done for me but it's gonna suck missing out on the release discussion about the game.
Don't worry, guys, it's a PS5 exclusive, you wouldn't even notice anyway, and when they release the game on PC, you'll beat DD2 by that time and grab this one as well.
I dunno. Nioh 3? I'd be down for that.
This literally looks the exact same as NIoh 2
Bit Nioh bit Way of the Samurai
I wonder what moron in the company pitched the idea that they should make an entire open-world game using the Nioh engine. Their confidence in the jankiness of the engine being able to precede the lack of visual draw is just so fricking crazy to me
Wait its open world? ewww clear out bandit camp #491 for the turd in a box reward!
It's probably gonna be more Yakuza combined with Way of the Samurai.... which really would make me happy to see another.
Oh frick off the only games people know Capcom even makes anymore and for the past 15 years has been Street Fighter and Resident Evil.
Monster Hunter
you should know that the Snoy-exclusive pedigree comes with open-world bullshit shoved into it by now
the engine isn't janky, what are you on about
>Strangers of fps, wild hearts
It is
Strangers of Paradise has absolutely nothing to do with the engine, people discovered it runs poorly because random models have unreasonably high geometry detail. Neither Nioh or Wo Long have those issues. I don't care about WIld Hearts, it wasn't made by TN so it's completely irrelevant.
>This literally looks the exact same as NIoh 2
They've added jumping and the level design is no longer corridors where a tree branch blocks your path forward, so its already a massive improvement over Nioh
Jumping added nothing of value to Wo Long, you were still running through corridors with occasional jumping over obstacles.
Ironically the most useful jumps were built in within martial arts
They also removed all magic and supernatural enemies
You're right they just avoided showing all the badass yokai and spells in the trailer to "surprise" people
They haven't shown shit in general, if there's secretly some supernatural stuff in it I will NOT be surprised.
I fully expect named characters to do supernatural things in the form of impossible acrobatics and various flashy visual effects on their sword moves, but I doubt there will be monsters/demons.
Team Ninja is known for that stuff, people are generally more excited to see cool monsters and flashy magic than just normal humans. They wouldn't surprise people with it.
It's not like the game is trying for hyper realism either way though, with the protag launching people in the air like it's ninja gaiden, flying across the room with a grapple hook, and lighting their entire sword on fire after parrying a bullet.
The modest praise Wo Long got was mostly for "human" bosses like Lu Bu and lightning Zhang which probably gave Team Ninja a sense of confidence about making exclusively non-monster bosses.
There are plenty of non monster bosses in Nioh as well
Yeah but fighting Imagawa Yoshimoto never really popped the way fighting a giant screaming pair or horse demons, pee wees play house or titty kitty on a flame unicycle
And they are all living weapon spammers that reduce the glorified 3stance combat to one best attack that you can sneak between their bullshit.
>living weapon
I don't need that lame shit to kick you ass
>His combo omnyo/odachi attacks aren't unlockable
shame
>lightning Zhang
Funny that there are 2 of those in the game, but I know which one you mean.
Ninja Gaiden is generally known for being the most fun against humanoid enemies, especially ninja enemies while, in those games, the big monsters don't really play well with the games mechanics.
What's so bad about Wo Long anyway? I'm thinking about getting and wonder if it's worth it.
I tried it on release, was disappointed by it being less deep than Nioh and the fact that it ran like shit. Tried it much later when all the DLCs were out and enjoyed it much more. It's not as good as Nioh, but now it's pretty decent in its own right. They gave you more stuff to do in combat so it doesn't feel as bare-bones. Main problem with the game is that it's a TN game that shed a lot of the complexity that gave Nioh games the appeal they had to a certain subset of people and now tried to compete with From Software's Sekiro on combat feel alone, but combat in Wo Long feels jankier and more low budget than in Sekiro, so even if it's slightly more interesting mechanically, it's not as satisfying.
3 kingdoms slop.
It's a decent game but it's a step down from Nioh.
I just wasn't as interested to keep playing after the first run
I'm coming at it from the other angle.
I'm hoping that it's humans only and they doubled down on that combat because I prefer the human fights in Nioh. They have more back and forth to them plus counters are cool and they didn't work on yokai.
Human enemies in Nioh are really flawed. They're in the situation where they're either too strong or too weak, with it often being the latter. This is a culmination of many things.
1st issue is simply, humans use their own ki for every action.
2nd issue is that every weapon can use strong parries specifically vs humans.
3rd issue is blocking. The one advantage humans have over yokai is guarding. When a human guards a light attack vs a human, that attack bounces off. This is to stop players from mindlessly mashing attack strings. However, this does not apply to weapon skills and there are a ton of multi-hit skills in the game that allow you to "mash" and force the human enemy to block or dodge.
4th issue is how the out of ki state works. When a human is out of ki, they don't instantly recover ki, it has to slowly recover. If you grapple an enemy, it will fully recover...unless you use a specific grapple like 1kat/fists izuna drop. if you attack an enemy, the first hit knocks down and then after 2 more hits they will stand straight up and can have their ki broken. This creates an issue where it's just too easy to keep the opponent at very low ki.
5th and final issue is that the majority of human enemies have NO good defense. They can ONLY block and dodge which consume ki and they rarely have moves with hyper armor.
All of this is why fists are SO good vs humans. They have a lot of skills that are multi-hit, they can do heavy attacks into light enders (which count as skills), they can chain skills into each other, and they have an izuna drop.
For the most part, all of these issues are just minor mechanical issues that could have been solved in Nioh. In RotR, since it's ONLY human enemies I have faith the mechanics will be made to make human fights really fun an interesting but since Nioh wasn't focused on humans, they really suffered.
Based on those damage numbers this is some end game build and at the point no matter what you're fighting or what with it's fundamentally different from the "right" way to play thanks to stats going apeshit.
I think it's honestly impressive how good the RPG mechanics are in Nioh, can totally ignore them for New Game since that's were most people will call it but as you go up in Ways/Dreams builds have to be increasingly bullshit to keep up.
Obviously it's end game but it's just a little funny and it exemplifies the issue with the "out of ki" state for humans.
By comparison, Yokai can't be "looped", when they recover from out of ki, they recover everything up to the red bar and they have yokai pools and dark realm transformations to help them recover their ki. That's not to say that Yokai don't have their own ki issues, specially in 2 (confusion is a really gay mechanic and makes end game nioh gay)
jesus that game looks fricking awful
>if you cheese the game it's boring
Yeah no shit, Sherlock
you can make look any game look shit if you play it for 1000 hours
There's a lot of footage, the game comes out in a few weeks. If you think they showed nothing, then the game will not interest you.
This is them making a Ghost of Tsushima clone for Sony
>There's a lot of footage
no
>There's a lot of footage
where?
there's maybe 2 minutes of disconnected gameplay on youtube
And that is a problem because?
>if
they’re releasing it the same day as dragon’s dogma 2.
Didn't Dragon's Dogma 1 do kind of badly?
initial release sales i believe it did but after the dark arisen relaunch + pc release it pulled some good numbers.
DD2 is absolutely going to be hyped into the stratosphere by the elden ring/souls game community and is by far the highest profile release that isn't one of the 3 JRPGS coming out (Yakuza/Persona/FF7R). I guarantee you all the streamers and such will be bandwagoning onto it as well.
I suspect it will certainly doing better, perhaps even really well, but Team Ninja just seems like they have more pedigree still.
>team ninja just seems like they have more pedigree
almost nobody even knows Rise of Ronin exists but a ton of people (most of which probably never even played the first game) know about DD2.
Team Ninja absolutely does not have a better pedigree than Itsuno and modern Capcom anyway.
Team Ninja has produced several excellent ARPG in the last 6 years. Itsuno has been doing nothing after DMC5, and his own venture into ARPG territory was fricking abhorrent.
>Team Ninja absolutely does not have a better pedigree than Itsuno and modern Capcom anyway.
All modern Crapcom did is demakes, exoprimal, Monster Hunter and the mediocre DMCV
DD1 was trash btw
>DD1 was trash
never respond to me again
Okay
he is right
troony
And team ninja hasnt had a good game since ninja gaiden black.
>biggest profile release
Palworld already happened.
>DD2 is absolutely going to be hyped into the stratosphere by the elden ring/souls game community
Lol no it fricking isn't.
t. waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree
>DD2 is absolutely going to be hyped into the stratosphere by the elden ring/souls game community
it already is, lots of big youtubers are hyping it, there is a lot of overlap between the fanbases, there are blind fanboys every now and then, but i often see people with souls pfps commenting how excited they are.
never underestimate the ability of marketing teams to gaslight people into thinking some series they never heard about was actually some kind of cultural milestone and now it is their turn to participate
No. It sold reasonably well at launch, it just never got the media's attention (particularly in the west) since it released alongside Dark Souls and Skyrim. It was a sleeper hit for years until it came out on PC which then it sold really well. With that said it had a miserable failure with a mobile gacha that most people never knew existed, and a very underrated MMO that met EOS a few years ago.
captroons pretending dragon's dogma is gonna be the next BG3 is amusing
it's not gonna come close to BG3 but I'll be very surprised if it's not the biggest release of the year so far in terms of concurrent players/community discourse.
Palword of course excluded.
Neitheir will this, but both games have overlapping fanbases
Dragon's Dogma is not a major IP
Now, there's a possibility of Ronin releasing near Shadow of the Erdtree and THAT is going to hurt
>releasing near Shadow of the Erdtree
Are you saying Ronin is vaporware?
I'm saying that Erdtree is already uploaded to Steam which means the trailer coming in around a month and release in about 2 month because the same happened to all previous DLCs in fromsoft games.
Its vaporware no fricking demo or full gameplay shown yet
Its coming in 1 month dumb clown
No 2 KEK
>not counting for the inevitable delay
3 months
I feel like this is going to be the last TN game. Their games don't sell particularly well and this one is releasing for PS5 only AND on the same day as DD2 AND the management has a much larger sales expectation for this game.
I fear like after this - it's over. Either disbanded or relegated completely into making/maintaining KT's gacha games.
There won't ever be a Nioh 3 or a Ninja Gaiden 4. It's unironically over.
Nioh doesnt need a third game anyway
Porting it to PC for 7 months.
Is this supposed to be Nioh minus supernatural shit?
So? What side you choosing? You gonna serve your shogun like a samurai should or are you gonna be a filthy imperialist dog?
>ronin
Google it.
hopefully closure
even Nioh 2 was mid
I just got a samurai sword. What games should I play?
Shadow of the Erdtree in February and then it will cannibalize itself with Dragon's Smegma 2 on the same day.
Team Ninja chose the worst possible period to release the game
Open up
nioh 3 ofc
I still haven't played either Sekiro or Ghosts of Tsushima.
>I still haven't played either Sekiro
do it homie. not too sure about Ghosts of Tsushima myself though
My advice if you play Ghosts would be to do the main story and the important (they have unique icons) side quests but ignore all the minor side quests/errands because they all give absolutely nothing of value and without fail they are all
>[thing has happened]
>i'll look into it
>it's bandits/mongolians again
Sekiro is amazing. Don't bother with the Western slop.
Too bad I suck at this sort of game
Finally I could make my perfect revolver toting ninja waifu
Does Rise have a predetermined player character or do we get to make our own? I'm pretty down for either honestly but if the game is gonna be more openly flexibly in terms of choices and narrative guidance I find that having our own created avatar tends to fit the mute mold a bit better.
Supposedly you'll have to make 2 characters like in gayon's wienerma.
Well I know what I'm doing
Watching old anime?
Also yes
Okay, I guess I'll go watch Ruroni Kenshin
LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD
>comes out at the same time as DD2
KWAB
killing someone with a musket bayonet looks cool tho
Where the frick is Ninja Gaiden 4.
Why do they waste our time with this moronic samouraï movie open World crap?
So Com. Perry is pretty well talked about but the other dude, Rutherford Alwiener was pretty interesting. He was a British diplomat who served as a consul in China so he's no stranger to Asia and while in Japan he and his colleagues were attacked by ronin and had to defend themselves and drive off the attack. Also he was the first non Japanese to climb Mt Fuji. That's sort of neat.
Playstation exclusivity sucks, but I'm keeping an eye on this one. Wo Long was made by a different team apparently, but this one seems to have the same team as Nioh 2.
>if
They chose to release it in the same year as Palworld. It's guaranteed to flop. Same goes for dragon's flopma and flop ring's DLC.
What if Ronin is better than Palworld, and TN is just being too humble?
No game is better than Palworld
man all i want is a tenchu game with modern graphics and good stealth mechanics
This is a PS5 exclusive video game.
Yep looks like another excellent ARPG by Team Ninja, love those copypasted crags with a stock rock texture in the background.
no aa, characters have no shadows
looks terrible
Katana dogshit engine as an open world game it will be worse than wild hearts
they never fixed any of the bugs in that game did they
Graphicsprostitutes deserve the rope.
Why make a fricking open world game though???
They are trying to pander to normies hence the open world and more "serious" setting.
Why not? I swear people don't even remember how much care team ninja puts into environments
Structurally yeah, some of the looping levels in Nioh 2 give FromSoft a run for their money.
But visually Team Ninja have been all about characters over environments since NG3. Not saying that's a bad thing, I think better looking models and animations far better suit the kind of games they are making but this does mean they aren't really screenshot bait most of the time.
Because Niohs Dungeon looter raid has proven itself mediocre.
People liked elden ring
People liked Ghost of Tsushima
Why wouldnt TM do yhr same?
>mass appeal is good, actually
"no"
They will continue to be clueless morons as they always do since the time when Itagaki left.
Lock on slop
Hahahahahahahah
Melee fights without lock on are universally garbage.
learn to aim
>Just learn to ballerina dance, bro
It's still shit.
mad cuz bad
>t. Dragon's Smegma enjoyer
Damn I remember you spamming that gif on DD threads.
So this is what its all about, Team Ninja gay absolutely buttblasted over how other franchises are more famous? DMC > NG, Souls > Nioh, DD > RotR
kek, for what its worth I like all of these games, while you stay mad while I enjoy video games, made by more than one company.
Are you saying the ninja gaiden poster is in the same discord server with the troony. Because i find it kinda make sense, i remember there are few posts false flagging as dmc fan to start shit in DD thread, but luckily no one reply to it
Poor ninja gaiden gays out there, not having sequel is bad enough. Now their games are being used by troony to start flame war
How is there not a kick ass Ninja Scroll game. It's already basically boss rush the movie.
ninja scroll is so kino is there an anime like that? besides Afro Samurai oblivious
Dagger of Kamui was pretty sick
blade of the immortal (2008). Dont watch the 2019 version. Its shit
Also Basilisk
Yep, i've seen the same exact posting style, gifs, etc, same shitposts and jokes like "smegma", etc.
>not having sequel is bad enough
It sucks that one of the main action game devs went full soulslike, their interpretation of the genre is incredibly fun but NG was way more, imo.
I've never play NG, but i see that some of NG weapon moveset are in nioh. They played really well, too bad about the "soulslike" stuff
You should try it if it looks fun to you.
There are some references like the izuna drop, some are probably just asset reuse, which isnt bad either way, their movesets are fun.
It seems that Team Ninja and Itagaki are nothing without each other, the former don't understand what the frick they're doing and the latter is broken because no one wants to give him the same conditions he had when he was with Team Ninja.
I hate stealthshit, literally one of the most moronic things in Wo Long was the ability to stealth kill everything.
They should go all in on stealth and give me a new stealth ninja game, because both Tenchu and Shinobido are dead as frick.
Already got the hook and the glider, could probably reuse the map too.
i swear to god that i played that map before in nioh 2
this section is right at the begining and theres 3 dudes in this area. theres a gate if you go back and left behind the house, opened from the other side, to get there zou need to go right up a little incline
A cute allusion right? Only the true fans can understand.
Dead or Alive 7.
Hopefully.
I like the Sengoku more the Bakamatsu
I wish we had more culture clash games. Give me something like a modern Samurai Western or a game about a cowboy in Japan or something.
This is exactly what I wanted from Team Ninja, no moronic supernatural bullshit with moronic writing, something realistic with their THIGHT gameplay.
Will buy on Steam.
>he thinks there won't be supernatural stuff
Demonic commodore incoming
Never ever PC kek
Timed exclusive. Cope.
We win either way. If this doesn't fail good, if this fails then they will go back to Extreme Volleyball and Ninja Gaiden.
Won't be able to top Nioh 2.
I enjoyed nioh 2 alot with how each boss wasnt just a dude in an armor but rather cool or sexy yokais.
Wu Long kinda failed and just made it human guy for the most part.
This looks like more of that same thing.
Honestly what I'd really want is a proper Nioh 3 with a more complex larger world to explore instead of taking missions on maps. Maybe not full traditional open world as the term has come to mean but maybe something a bit more meaningful all the same. I want to walk the warrior's pilgrimage.
>if
it's a PS5 exclusive, it's guaranteed to flop
How about actually giving us a sale so your games can be bought.
>next
Seppuku
>never
Ninja gaiden 4
>What's next for Team Ninja if this shit flops?
ritual suicide
not a fan of the fixed protag, waste of TN's amazing CC used for Nioh 2 and Wo Long, but it's TN, so I'm down no matter what.
So far I've heard the exact opposite: there are TWO custom protags. Still no clue about gender selection, though male/female would make sense.
where did you hear this?
It was revealed to me in a Ganker thread.
If the game did have a set protagonist I feel like we should have learned something of them by now but that also would apply if we could make our own.
Two custom protags. Genders aren't confirmed but last trailer shows 2 male pair and male/femail pair. They confirm the dual protags in interviews and if you watch the trailer it's clearly about 2 characters and even shows characters switching mid-battle but yes it's EXTREMELY weird to not have this in the description of the game or on the site. The main boxart only shows one character, it's only the deluxe edition that prominently features two characters.
Interviews point out that our characters have their own backgrounds and are connected to each other deeply but they also make a point that the player can make many story choices and side with factions which might imply that you can be affiliated with different factions on each protag but other than that, not sure how the 2 protags play into the gameplay
Please don't do a mute protag again.
Hide being mute was a surprisingly big downgrade from William and that dude has like 20 lines of dialogue max.
watch the trailers, our protags are voiced.
I have weird feelings about this. I expected Nioh and Way of the Samurai mix with a single protag, and I absolutely want another Way of the Samurai game with a more serious tone, better would be if we could get Tenchu + Way of the Samurai even and two protags would be perfect in such game.
I wish Acquire got back to ninja and Samurai games, although I love Labyrinth of Zangetsu.
I just want the WoTS 3 and 4 ports not to be total dogshit that crash for no reason.
>characters switching mid-battle
garbage confirmed
enjoy your genshit slop
They'll just make another arpg since it's all they seem to be capable of making these days. Either it's going to be another Nioh or more likely they'll start exclusively making them with existing properties like SoP. That's what omega force has been doing since DW9. Nothing but musous of things like Persona, Zelda and Fire Emblem with 9 empires and SW5 being the only exceptions.
They'll just make another game? Do you think they're just gonna close the studio after one game sells poorly? I don't really care if it's initial sales are poor because it's coming to PC regardless, if the game is good then word of mouth will spread and plenty of people will buy the port.
>one game sells poorly
SoP and Wo Long both flopped and it's not like Nioh series has been selling particularly well. TN is owned by KT who are some of the most israeliteest israelites among game publishers and once they see that TN is not making enough money they'll just have them making mobile sloppa instead.
>SoP and Wo Long both flopped
They didn't
SoP was among the lowest selling final fantasy games ever
And? SoP is pretty much the complete opposite of the majority of FF games with a protagonist who looks like he belongs in a 2009 xbox shooter, the opposite of FF's typical pretty boy twink protag's. No shit it's gonna sell less than them. That doesn't mean it's a flop, it's not like this game had FF16 budget and development time
Everyone was engaged about that as meme problem its the game graphical and the diablo shit alongside releasing in elden cringe times
ESL
>one of the lowest selling entries in one of the highest selling franchises
ok?
The weirdest thing about Team Ninja is that that somehow manage to be both a mid and high budget studio. Like i don't know what voodoo they're pulling but their break even threshold is markedly lower than what you see out of major AAA releases.
Reusing 80% of the assets from their previous games goes a long way.
Probably. I don't like to defend asset reuse completely but there are places and benefits to where it makes sense.
It's always funny to see Ganker try to act like Gankertards who somehow know exact sales numbers and what companies plans are. Especially when they call everything they don't like a "flop"
>once they see that TN is not making enough money they'll just have them making mobile sloppa instead.
If all that was true then the atelier and fatal frame teams wouldn't have existed for as long as they have.
Yasuda's story about the beginning of RotR development sounded like the Koei management gave them a chance to make something big after the relative success of Nioh, they'll probably won't be making anything of the similar scale for some time or even get sold/disbanded if RotR flops.
It really depends on their expectations, and knowing how dumb Koei Tecmo is, I wouldn't be surprised if they expect a lot of sales on PS5 even if Sony somehow paid them to make it exclusive, all the people who play Japanese games went to PC and Switch, after all. This feels like Ninja Gaiden being Xbox exclusive situation except Sony alienated all the people who like Japanese games while Xbox tried to get them to buy their console.
>playslop 5 exclusive
How could it not flop rofl
test
I'm playing Nioh 2 right now.
I fricking hate late dream of the demon.
Got 2 more main missions left before Dream of the wise and a new rarity and levels to look forward too.
Probably my fault for ninjutsu maxxin tho
https://www.gematsu.com/2024/01/rise-of-the-ronin-details-factions-of-the-bakumatsu-era
can i join matthew perry
Can you join anyone?
You'll probably just end up fighting everyone in some way
Probably. The way this is set up, detailing each faction leaders weapon, makes me feel like the game is gonna allow you to fight and maybe even kill each faction leader.
Yes, a famitsu interview talks about joining factions and raising your "bond" with each of the 3 towns + specific characters. Game has "bond missions" with those characters too
He's one of the major factions, yes.
declare bankruptcy
