I don't really understand the vitriol this game gets on this site, and I guess on the internet in general. It just seems like a mediocre game that I played through, got a decent amount of enjoyment on, and I may come back to at a later time if there's any additional content released or meaningful mods.
I feel like people have been having meltdowns over this game for months now and I just don't get it. Are mediocre 7/10 games just not allowed to exist anymore? I feel like people would've lost their mind playing video games during the PS1 or PS2 era. Why does every single AAA game that releases now have to be some genre defining masterpiece?
You paid $70 for a 5/10 game, not a 7/10 game.

Not really different than paying 50 bucks for games 20 years ago that were just as mediocre but I don't remember anywhere near as much backlash for any of those. They'd get some 7/10 scores from some gaming publication but that's about it. I guess it was a little less egregious back then because I could rent most of them from Blockbuster without paying full price, beat it in a weekend, and return it.

Now that they release their next big thing that can't rely on the preexisting ES and Fallout worldbuilding and lore, people are seeing Bethesda's shoddy work for what it is.
