Elden Ring combat is simple but very effective. Also the fact every other game that tried the formula failed miserably, except Lies of P, is a testament to From and shows it’s not as easy as it looks. Even games that just used it as inspiration like the Jedi games look like ass in comparison

In the leaked concept art over the ideas the idea was he went back to his moms/stepdads town, so it wasnt gonna be as school focused as first game. Probably more college age even.
they already abandoned the idea a long time ago.
the only way they could think of to move the game forward was to set it in college, but at the end of the day it would just be the same game over again and they felt it wasn't worthwhile.

How the frick are they going to pull of third person sword fighting? Shit like Chiv2 barely managed to find a balance in it and it's still one of the simplest things out there that keeps fricking up every once in a while? Everything they'd done so far was focused around shooting (maybe aside from Bully) and even the melee in RDR2 is so fricking barebones with no room for skill, it's more akin to an interactive cutscene. I really don't know how they're thinking of pulling that off.
