I don't blame him for his critiques of it, some were indeed valid (like the one about the secret gun shop robbery for instance), but I think he kinda missed the mark on this one.
Rockstar's game design definitely hasn't changed much (which again, completely understandable why that could frustrate some) but he's also someone who loves the Last of Us and I struggle to really understand how the Last of Us is good but RDR2 is not. Because a lot of the critiques he levels at this could be leveled at LOU as well. Rockstar has always been more cinematic so I am eternally baffled as to why people buy a game clearly advertised as a cinematic cowboy adventure and are surprised that it is exactly that. What else were you hoping to get out of a rockstar game?
This critique is stupid and can be leveled at any game. Elden Ring is go to location, slash enemy, go to location. New Vegas is go to location, do dialogue, fight enemies, repeat. Every game that has ever been made is a gameplay loop and can be reduced to moron unga bunga terms.
that was the most recent one. He's stated a lot that he loves the other ones, especially the first even though a lot of the time you're climbing a fricking wall and talking.
He states too that he likes TLOU because Joel and Ellie have a lot of character moments together (which I totally agree with) and how many of them play through cutscenes and it's them hanging out, getting closer and developing a relationship you care about. Which is... somehow different than RDR2 where John and Arthur have a lot of character bonding moments in cutscenes so you can actually care about the relationship for some reason... I guess because you don't push the up stick and on a wall and just have to watch a cutscene? I struggle to see the way the two differ other than personal taste.
>This critique is stupid and can be leveled at any game.
That's the thing. Rockstar is setting the standard, nothing is going to change if they don't change it.
>playing Red Dead 2 >Guy grabs one of girls from our group and drags her into a alley >pins her to the wall and starts yelling at her >shoot him in the face >mission failed
Frick right off
Hold it right there bucko. Now I might just be a simple outlaw, but even I know that trying to "save" a person that identifies as female when they haven't asked assistance is problematic. If there's anything worse than a Pinkerton, it's a chud.
>WELLLL.... I gotta say, I didn't think you had it in you to do something like that Micah >All that killin'? >Part of the way of life we bastards lead >but racism? Micah its 1899, things have changed
I played RDR2 until I got to a mission where it told me to stand against a wall to get into cover. I did. Apparently it wasn't the right wall, eventually a little yellow circle spawned under where I was "supposed" to be standing and I refused to move there. I was already in fricking cover. The mission failed me. I shut the fricking game off.
I had a similar experience with GTA5 where I got to a mission where I had to mop a fricking floor. The game wouldn't let me progress at all until I mopped the fricking floor like a slave. These games are for fricking morons. I don't normally judge others for what they play but Rockstarslop is legitimately for morons. If you like this bullshit you're a stupid fricking moron. It's also trashy as all frick, they want to tell these huge stories with serious themes but then you've got to do shit like listen to "jerkoff radio station" where they're constantly undermining their own mood they want in the game by shoving hamfisted parody bullshit down your throat but I'm somehow supposed to also see this shit as a serious crime or western drama.
> It's also trashy as all frick, they want to tell these huge stories with serious themes but then you've got to do shit like listen to "jerkoff radio station"
What the frick am I reading, when has GTA treated any serious theme, everything in every GTA except for 4 is played for jokes.
And on the opposite side there's none of that in RDR2.
>If you like this bullshit you're a stupid fricking moron. What the frick am I reading, did you play some kind of mod that fused RDR2 and GTA V, or you played them both at once or what?
GTA V at no point is a serious story, and RDR2 has no parodies of anything.
I have no idea why RDR2 has this effect in that makes Ganker's IQ fall from an average of 50 to the single digits.
Not only is this place incapable of understanding the plot or the characters despite the fact that there's absolutely no depth to it, but every single gameplay suggestion I've read would make the game insufferable.
I'm glad Ganker has lost what influenced it once had in gaming, the only people in this industry capable of making worse games than western Triple A developers would be nu/v/
The irony here is that MGSV is the complete opposite of RDR2, it's an open world game that lets you play however you want, and yet it's probably the only game that has caused more asshurt in Ganker than RDR2.
Yes, anon. OP is talking about RDR2, a video game, and the video that the thumbnail he posted came from talks about it and the game design within it. You lame dunderhead
Yes, they've been making the exact same game for 20 years, of course their games are outdated. But give gamers graphics, le epic sad feels and they don't care about the content or quality of the game.
he's not wrong but i still hate him because like every youtuber that got too big he now thinks he is hot shit and not just some nerd preaching to other nerds
Its not so much that its "outdated" but just too restrictive. For a big open world game full of content to discover and interact with, you are railroaded hard with its missions and even some of the open world things. The bounty system is still total trash too and makes no sense.
He's unironically right.
>walk here
>mission starts
wow, how immersive.
I don't blame him for his critiques of it, some were indeed valid (like the one about the secret gun shop robbery for instance), but I think he kinda missed the mark on this one.

are you moronic or something?

Elden Ring and New Vegas don't punish you for straying more than 6 feet away from your current objective.
>This critique is stupid and can be leveled at any game.
That's the thing. Rockstar is setting the standard, nothing is going to change if they don't change it.
I have never wanted to replay rdr2 so yes
>game holds your hand and treats you like a fricking moron
I hate this shit so much
I've been watching Act Man play this and honestly, I can see why they do it, most people who play videogames are legitimately braindead.
>playing Red Dead 2
>Guy grabs one of girls from our group and drags her into a alley
>pins her to the wall and starts yelling at her
>shoot him in the face
>mission failed
Frick right off
Anon, it's so he can show up in a single mission later, where you then have the option to kill him
if shooting him then would've changed that scene it would've been cool but RDR2 is more on rails than CoD campaigns
>verbal assault is reason enough to murder someone
No, you frick off, basic American.
>a game would make a guy pin someone to the wall and yell at them to clearly be a good guy and isn't a signal to shoot them
moron
the main character is a murdering outlaw
Hold it right there bucko. Now I might just be a simple outlaw, but even I know that trying to "save" a person that identifies as female when they haven't asked assistance is problematic. If there's anything worse than a Pinkerton, it's a chud.

That guy's a pedo

This gay played GTA V and thought it was a serious story.
Just how fricking stupid can you be.
no you *kisses*

Deranged incel weirdo, fricking hell
>muh incel
Frick off back to r/gaming
Your mom is outdated.

It's coz the game is so mind numbingly dull that nobody got to the end to find out what the "plot and characters" were about.
>Not only is this place incapable of understanding the plot or the characters
OPEN WORLD SANDBOX VIDEO GAME. NOBODY WANTS C GRADE MOVIE PLOT
The irony here is that MGSV is the complete opposite of RDR2, it's an open world game that lets you play however you want, and yet it's probably the only game that has caused more asshurt in Ganker than RDR2.
botw
Video games, stupid homosexual, VIDEO GAMES.
RDR2 has one of the most alive open worlds i've ever played.
he's not wrong but i still hate him because like every youtuber that got too big he now thinks he is hot shit and not just some nerd preaching to other nerds

Know what's a better western game than RDR?
Sunset Riders
Blood Bros
Wild Guns
Ganpuru
Wild Arms
etc
Imagine needing a video essayist to figure that out.
>open world game
>get mission to go from point A to point B
>take 0.3 steps off the beaten path
>mission failed
Sure, but for a simple guy like me I'm ok with it.
What can be done to change it?
They won't. If anything GTA VI will be even worse and it will still sell more than V most likely.
damn, well what now?
what's his point? not watching it.
That "go to this location, drive or ride, start this mission, shoot these guys, get new gear" is boring.
RDR2 is the only good open world game ever created.
He's right but it doesn't matter. Nobody like's Rockstars games because of the main missions.
