Being a senior programmer meant he had a higher investment with the company. He was no longer just some temp or entry level wagie who'd be thrown out at the end of the development cycle, that shit was now a career. No, the death probably was due to stress. Stress causes all sorts of health issues like ulcers and cardiovascular issues. At that point she stopped being able to feel hungry or keep food down and went into the ER to get help. They told her she'd go through months of chemo and other things. She died with every symptom of right side heart failure less than 3 weeks after being admitted to the hospital for those appetite concerns. In under a year her completely "cured" cancer went from being a baby tier strain of breast cancer that 80% of people survive easily to being metastatic across her whole body with major lymphatic and liver involvement. Oh an the hospital was understaffed and filthy because my local government fired 80k nurses over vaccine mandates.

Sitting for prolonged periods can kill you actually. Circulation in your legs goes to shit and you start developing bloodclots in your legs. Once you start moving again those bloodclots get dislodged and start circulating, potentially blocking arteries at which point there's a good chance you're going to die if you don't get immediate help. Often times in cases like that it's because the employee'ss just sitting there working nonstop for 10+ hours either because he's either too focused on his work to get up and walk around a bit or he's worried that his supervisor will accuse him of fricking around if he's not sitting at his desk all day.
There's also the risk of developing ulcers from stress. Shit could be from getting yelled at constantly by an abusive boss or from struggling to meet deadlines. Either way, they can develop into perforated ulcers at which point your stomach will start oozing stomach acid into your insides.
