Combat was legitimately a waste of time after 30 hours because all my guys were so OP. Won almost every fight within the first round, most of those without a single enemy even getting a turn. Absolutely silly game. It's a shame too because the combat has a lot of cool ideas and interesting builds you could theoretically go for, it's just too easy to accidentally break everything.
The setting was incredibly well realized and I enjoyed it a lot though.

In terms of writing, yes. BG3's characters were pretty damn cringy imo.
That was my main gripe with it as well. The gameplay is good, despite what the contrarians say, even though 5E is meh in terms of build variety.
Maybe it would actually, if Owlcat managed to actually complete a game before release for once in their existence instead of 2 years after release.

They are doing rebalancing to nerf some op shit bit by bit. Officers lost their crazy OP AP refresh on kill ult upgrade for instance.
and now Officers are merely OP instead of absurdly OP
Yeah I ended up playing my last 20 hours after the patch and it did mean enemies occasionally got a turn in
