All that would do is make Assassins the OP class what with their 1K damage Killing Edge shots since Killing Edge is bugged and multiples ALL your damage. And of course ultimately the truly busted class in this game is Officer, which is what really breaks the other classes to begin with. Finest Hour should be reworked completely, to start with. It's a single player RPG though, so it doesn't really matter and I doubt Owlcat will ever change it.
I wish there was not so much op stuff. Half the fun for rpgs for me is coming up with a good build, and when I have to struggle to not make a busted character/team it's kinda lame.
The entire problem is really Officer more than anything. That class completely breaks the action economy of the game, having extra turns in a turn based system is more valuable than practically anything else, and Officer does that PLUS makes those turns more valuable on top of that since they buff the other member they're giving extra turns to on top of it. So it's a multiplicative effect that completely breaks the combat, Arch-Militant only really gets so out of hand because of what Officers allow them to do. At the very least Finest Hour should be completely reworked so it doesn't give infinite turns if you use it correctly.
For example if you use it on an Assassin) (assuming you properly took the Finest Hour buff that gives you an extra AP per kill) and just spam Killing Edge you can legitimately wipe out the entire battlefield in that one turn. And even if you don't, by the time your killing spree is done, you have generated enough momentum for ANOTHER Heroic Act. It's ridiculous. And amusingly enough Assassin isn't even the most broken recipient of this, it's actually Arch-Militant, which has been gone over enough in past threads. But again the real problem is Officer.

It would still be manageable if it wasn't for Officers, yeah, you could kill a ton of shit with Arch Militant, and it would be the best class in the game by a mile, but it would still be limited and the enemy team would actually get to have a few moves. With Officer you can make it so that the entire combat ends on round 1, round 2 by the latest, every time. And obviously combining Officer WITH Arch Militant makes the game a joke even on Unfair.

Tell me more about how you need anything else? That's potentially unlimited attacks/turn as long as you keep killing them. I imagine my RT strapped to the deck instead of a macro cannon battery trivializing even space battles.
Another way to retool it would be to change momentum from foes killed to exclusively based on resolve bonus per turn. Not counting extra turns. Maybe a momentum bonus for crits.
Even at 20 it's still crazy. Dumping close range bursts with heavy bolters and a zillion multipliers just means you're only doing thousands of damage instead of ten thousand damage.
5. Once you get past Act 3 many things start breaking. Also while it is true that the core of the game still works in the first three acts, there are many bugged talents and abilities that either do not work, or work incorrectly. That includes certain quests working out wrong. For example if you save a guy in Chapter 1 he tells you to talk to a rep vendor in Act 2 to get a discount as thanks. If you do this, rather than prices permanently going down, it triggers incorrectly, and instead prices permanently go up instead. Also the first two DLCs are going to add new companions and significant content to the main game, so if you want a full, bug free experience, wait a year.
Someone needs to make it where the RT and Yrliet fall in love after the dark eldar fricks the RT. Yrliet finally confesses her feelings and the RT says he loves her back and the dark eldar means nothing to him.
Yeah that's all of the Origins, they get a sentence or two in the five minute prologue and that's it for the rest of the game. It's really annoying that, for example, when you meet the "Commissar" in Commoragh and you have a Commisar background you have absolutely zero unique dialogue during the entire quest chain involving him.
Well, you are sanctioned at least, so it's a bit less of a fuss, but there is definitely a lack of reactivity for it past act 1. The real crime is telepath not having any literally anything dialogue wise when you can READ MINDS. Shoulda just done telekinetics instead if you were gonna go that Owlcat.

Whereas if you have her become Novator that doesn't happen and you're together for life. Basically you have to work at the romance to get the best ending, but it is a genuinely romantic and happy ending if you pull it off.

Actually no, she won't necessarily mutate to that point, many Navigators do not in fact fully mutate to abomination level before their lifespan ends. It's just a possible end for them, not a certain one. If she's a Novator she isn't doing constant warp jumps and is managing her house instead, so she is far less likely to mutate like that, which is why that result doesn't happen in her Novator ending. And yeah you can spend years apart, both of you are extremely powerful and important leaders that have your own responsibilities that take precedence. The fact you still maintain your love and relationship even in those circumstances just makes it more romantic, not less.

The only reason to have any issue with Galfrey is if you ignore the entrie context and narrative around the war. It's an issue with making the player character so special that it seems like anyone could have won anytime.
Similar with the timeskip, you were AWOL for 6 months. She was grieving your loss so much that (for the first time in a hundred years) she outright delayed her duty and continued waiting for you, month after month, even as the situation got worse and worse, and the threat of Mythic Demons became more and more present.
You were the only one that could have stopped the Mythic demons, and by all appearances you'd failed and died. So the only thing she could possibly do is a hail-mary play to close the portal before three world is ruined. Regil would have made exactly the same decision. It only looks bad because your character is such a ridiculous level of power above the narrative that it seems like you can just waltz in, no questions asked.

Before you start her romance she flat out has an orgy on the ship with some of your officers. The most you can say is that you reform a bawd into a tradwife, but you can't say she's just a bawd for you since she opens her legs to many other men (and women) as soon as she gets onto your ship.
It's a slow burn romance, at the beginning she's repulsed by the thought of touching a mon-keigh but by the end she initiates handholding. Eldar are very, VERY slow on the uptake but I give it a century at most before you're fricking.

The sniper on the tower is the real Black person. Also, I dropped that dudes BS to 3 and he still shit on my dudes with burst fire. It seems like you have to spread your dudes out in a way that he can't line you up and will go for single shots instead.
He's your first real wake-up-call boss about why you should never group up your team during a fight.
If you get Toybox, it's probably for the best, since occasionally you need to fix something that Owlcat fricked up.
The game isn't that hard, though, once you wrap your head around the combat.
Make the sniper Black person your top priority and then just don't bunch up or Aurora's burst fire will rape you. Use Sensory Deprivation on him if you've got it.
I really like this game but I feel like you just become way too OP too easily and if you aren't cheesing then good placement and tactics aren't actually a good enough replacement.
I can't not use Argenta because sisters of battle are cool and the stuff she says is great, but I just finished chapter 3 and the only thing for about 2 chapters that has survived more than 2 turns is the final boss of 3 and that's because she literally will stop your attack and heal to full.
I know there are plenty of other completely busted specs out there too, it's like they didn't even consider balancing this game.

Like the other anon said, there are two named canon cases, and also there was some event (I think the fall of Cadia) where everyone inside a fortress fell to Khorne at the same time and started tearing each other to pieces, including the sisters. Kind of dubious if that counts though, since it wasn't voluntary.
I have tried this boss 4 times and every time I've fought it it's critting and one shotting my guys for 71 damage. Every hit is a crit. Even if Abelard gets all his shit off to tank it's still critting him for 50+ damage and two shotting him as he's failed to parry or dodge a single time, even with my strategems technically forcing rerolls on the guy.
Is there somewhere else I can go? I still need Cassia but I cannot enter the Opera or go back to the Arena so idk what else to do but this guy is just facerolling my entire team by turn 2.

Of course you don't ever need to do that with Arch-MiliGOD since you just kill everything before it can hit you anyway, but yeah. Seriously dude I am not kidding, if you are losing to that thing the rest of Act 3 is going to DEMOLISH you, set the game to story mode or rework your builds.
So there's just a massive difficulty spike on this guy specifically? Because Malice was easy, Arenas have been easy, shit all of Act 2 was borderline boring after the first planet because of how strong my chars were. Now they're just getting slapped instantly. I don't think Arch Militant would really help either because he wouldn't be getting a turn to start stacking BS and WS nonsense since Argentina isn't getting her turn either and I no longer have the BS into Parry gloves either that was letting her pseudo tank. Plus Cassia was a second officer for applying more versatility stacks early in the turn order. The only character I was planning to redo is Pasqal because Bounty Hunter just clearly is worse than Assassin even for melee.
I also was running Heinrix for even more buffing on Abelard but I chose to drop him since Yrliet insisted she come along.

Yeah you must've run into a bug because after you get betrayed by Malice/The Commissar and do the first Arena fight, you get that quest and then you can get into the Opera by talking to that guy, which is where you get your gear back, and can recruit the Space Wolf + bargain for an early return of one of your other companions if you play your cards right. Which in your case would be Cassia.

Just to be sure are you trying to enter the Opera without talking to the guy at the door? Because he won't let you in if you do that, you have to actually TALK to him, specifically, and then go through the dialogue options to get him to open the door.
My Yrliet 2-tapped him. Start as far back as you can, build full exploits with pasqal, put down rear zone with locus on, drop a frontline zone on top of the target, skip turn. When Yrliet gets a go, full exploits again, expose weakness, seek the opening, killing edge. Bing bada boom, at least half hp gone. Finish up with death's whisper and someone else's turn if any HP remains.
That is what I'm currently attempting since the main issue has been the extra turns it gets destroying me once Abelard goes down.
If I didn't have her old rifle in Cargo she legitimately would have 0 weapons available though, since she doesn't have Drukari weapon proficiency. Which I don't enjoy using the cargo exploit but what the actual frick? Why does she not get any weapons she can use? She gets armor and unique to her , but I've looted absolutely everything and she had 0 weapons so I kinda cheated and grabbed something from cargo.

Carnage has a kind of bad (for lategame) damage range.
BUT its crit damage increases by 25% for every hit in a fight.
Arch Militants easily get 100% crit rate vis versatility stacks.
They also get bonus damage per stacks.
At what point does Carnage scale up to being the strongest melee weapon in the game?
The Sororitas Power Armor is pretty damned good, I just wish she also found a Bolter to go along with it. It's got 80 some odd armor, 6 deflection, same dodge reduction as Medium Armor, +20 to strength, and boosts crit chance and crit damage by 5% every time she crits or kills something. It does reset whenever you miss, so burst shots with Confident Approach will make that bonus swing wildly. It's just such a shame that you get it so damned late in the game.
Break out that riot gear, it is 100% not happening. Your best bet are the two DLC companions being female and having romances available if you want more options than what's available, but odds are good at least one will be male, so yeah.

officers get an ability that gives them an extra turn at the very start of a round, which you use bring it down to give it to someone else. If you get an attack off on arora he applies the "hated" buff on that character and is forced to attempt to attack them.
You fricked up, some of the officer abilities are really good and have synergy with nav abilities. Like giving WP extra wounds to people you buff. As I said, reduce the difficulty or get to READIN homie, obviously unfair mode is going to assume you know the abilities inside and out.

Nah, the only worthwhile officer talents to take on her are Seize the Initiative and Steel Resolve, though you can potentially wait to take Steel at Exemplar if you're already in a good spot as far as momentum gains go. Most, if not all, of her Navigator talents outshine everything else she can pick, especially early on.

Sure, but then you have to wait till exemplar to scoop them up. There are only like 5 must have nav talents and you can get them when it asks for minor talents. All that shit in officer doesn't matter in the late game, but its a big boost in the early game when its actually difficult.
For example, all those extra minor nav talents aren't helping that dude beat aurora on unfair but some of the officer talents sure would have.

I bumblefricked my way through that on my first try, after getting 2 characters dead before they got their turn. His burst at the start is the biggest hit he will throw at you. After that, just keeping him busy reduced his damage by a lot.
In all honesty, there is a sniper on the ledge that will do more damage than him once turn one is over.

Anyone here had a bug where, after Inner World shit with Yrliet, you can no longer interact with her? Does it unfrick itself down the line? It happens right after the Xeno raid on Dargonus in Act 2. The entire quest just completely spergs out. Also, how many patches do they need to fix this?

I want to like BH because it's a cool idea, but this system heavily prioritizes killing everything on turn 1 and 2, which Assassin is just AMAZING at. If taken in a vaccum, Bounty Hunter isn't bad. You can do a lot of things and it's very good at eliminating specific enemies. There's two main issues, one of which is that it's more of a melee class than a ranged one, and assassin does both things better, the melee thing and the eliminating specific enemies bit. Officer itself is rather broken, but Grand Strategist which is a comparison, is kind of ass. Take and Hold has to be the worst Heroic Action in the game, since at best it's just a diluted Finest Hour but the main thing is that it requires way too much setup and relies on lots of weak enemies to be that good whereas Finest Hour is equally as great at killing bosses as it is chaff.
Grand Strategist is largely bad on its own, and not even that good of a rider class, it's just that Officer is GREAT and synergizes extremely well with both Assassin and Arch-Militant, which are the two most busted ass bullshit archetypes in the game.
Grand Strategist is way better than you're giving it credit for. The zones are extremely useful if used correctly, and synergize very well with the optimal strategies in this game. And most importantly, it makes you move first, which is gigantic in a game where Alpha Strike is king. If you roll Officer RT into Grand Strategist with Cassia likewise going Grand Strategist it is impossible to lose a single fight from that point on. Master Tactician is better in theory, since it has better abilities and the stacks are great to throw on your damage dealers, but ultimately the first move Grand Strategist gets is just too good by comparison, leaving it the clear winner of the two archetypes.
The main thing holding Grand Strategist back is that 95% of its talents suck, of course characters like Cassia don't care about this since they have way better personal talents they rather take instead
I was surprised how bad the killing strat is, I guess its good if you hate it when enemies survive with 1 HP but it almost never comes up.

The main benefit is to your melee dudes. Forcing enemies to essentially have disadvantage on Parry AND Dodge rolls is fricking nuts, but in practice your ranged characters usually have near max hit rate if not max crit rate too so only your melee guys really benefit from that. It's much harder to do a lot of damage in melee as opposed to ranged, so it definitely does something in that regard. Especially when you're spamming area attacks, generally at least one or two guys in a group will dodge or parry.
Combat Locus Stratagem is pretty much all that you need, though, for the class to be worthwhile. And it frees up talents to go into statistic boosts or free movement or whatever you want.
BTW, Grand Strategist is actually pretty useful on higher difficulty.
A Frontline locus/stronghold stratagem is actually quite handy for protecting your team from dying if they lose initiative.
Why is Bounty Hunter capped at 3 preys per battle anyway? The bonuses you can share with the squad are so meager that it's completely baffling why the game doesn't have a consistent way of restoring them.
He's an Arch Militant and he has very high base stats, so yeah, he can easily take over the game if you use him correctly. But you can do that with ANY Arch Militant, so he doesn't really stand out.
Might have been battlefield koronus, I don't have the books in front of me right now, being currently forced into phoneposting. The /tg/ thread has all the books if you want to look them up yourself.
So far all the level up options seem to be like “spent half your turn, and get 0.05% more damage on melee attacks for one turn” or similar tiny situational benefits that don’t justify the time it takes to click them.
Am I missing something or do the powers justify themselves later on?
Some options are surprisingly good when later abilities are introduced. Killing edge for example shoots your base damage up so exponentially that any boosts you get end up being a huge number. For example, my orchestrate flame alone, which normally hits for around 40, can jump to 500 if all the lethality boosts from killing edge get applied to it when the target dodges.
Cassia shouldn't even be an Officer, or have any archetype beyond her Navigator shit.
The other two Officers in the game are grizzled veterans, and it's stupid that some stammering sheltered idiot girl should be able to be equally proficient at leading men into battle.
I really, REALLY, hate how much of a snowflake she is.
its over bro, I honestly had henrix run past aurora and charge down the map to get to that guy. If you can get behind those boxes infront of the shuttle he fricks with the snipers AI and he will try to get a good shot on him but cant find it.
Also I threw grenades at the guy that comes out of the doors. The dudes armour was so high I felt it was pointless to even attack him with dudes that couldn't even do damage to him.
Eventually I debuffed him so much he couldn't hurt us too bad and killed everyone else first. Cassia had that regain talent and he was mostly attacking her sicne she was mostly the only one attacking him until I could debuff all his armour away.
Killing Edge, it's really good and even better right now since it's bugged and multiples all your damage. You can one shot just about anything with it, even without setting up an opening, WITH an opening it evaporates anything it touches.
This, killing edge is superior damage even when compared to deadeye and deathwhisper put together. Later on you obviously pick up DW as well, but don't open up with it on the main target. You want your boss at max hp so your killing edge gets the boosts to damage and lethality from damage. I like to pop DW on some rando who has an opening towards the sniper first to get the lethality and damage boosts on the subsequent biggus hittus on the big bad.

I seriously don't get how you can have a hard time with that fight. Also if you're Iconoclast and let him blow up two shuttles you fricked up hard. You're fine if you're Dogmatic/Heretic though.
You can save more people based on how many shuttles are left by the end of the fight, if you have enough you can save two groups of people rather than just one. This only matters if you are taking the Iconoclast decision to do so, however.

All that would do is make Assassins the OP class what with their 1K damage Killing Edge shots since Killing Edge is bugged and multiples ALL your damage. And of course ultimately the truly busted class in this game is Officer, which is what really breaks the other classes to begin with. Finest Hour should be reworked completely, to start with. It's a single player RPG though, so it doesn't really matter and I doubt Owlcat will ever change it.
I wish there was not so much op stuff. Half the fun for rpgs for me is coming up with a good build, and when I have to struggle to not make a busted character/team it's kinda lame.
The entire problem is really Officer more than anything. That class completely breaks the action economy of the game, having extra turns in a turn based system is more valuable than practically anything else, and Officer does that PLUS makes those turns more valuable on top of that since they buff the other member they're giving extra turns to on top of it. So it's a multiplicative effect that completely breaks the combat, Arch-Militant only really gets so out of hand because of what Officers allow them to do. At the very least Finest Hour should be completely reworked so it doesn't give infinite turns if you use it correctly.
For example if you use it on an Assassin) (assuming you properly took the Finest Hour buff that gives you an extra AP per kill) and just spam Killing Edge you can legitimately wipe out the entire battlefield in that one turn. And even if you don't, by the time your killing spree is done, you have generated enough momentum for ANOTHER Heroic Act. It's ridiculous. And amusingly enough Assassin isn't even the most broken recipient of this, it's actually Arch-Militant, which has been gone over enough in past threads. But again the real problem is Officer.

4 free attacks/turn at the least, unlimited damage, parry, armor, tohit and either guaranteed immunity to everything or guaranteed crits on everything including dots and heals beg to call you a massive homo.
It would still be manageable if it wasn't for Officers, yeah, you could kill a ton of shit with Arch Militant, and it would be the best class in the game by a mile, but it would still be limited and the enemy team would actually get to have a few moves. With Officer you can make it so that the entire combat ends on round 1, round 2 by the latest, every time. And obviously combining Officer WITH Arch Militant makes the game a joke even on Unfair.

Another way to retool it would be to change momentum from foes killed to exclusively based on resolve bonus per turn. Not counting extra turns. Maybe a momentum bonus for crits.
Even at 20 it's still crazy. Dumping close range bursts with heavy bolters and a zillion multipliers just means you're only doing thousands of damage instead of ten thousand damage.
Those are rookie numbers, you can pump up the necron lasgun to 40 shots per burst that deal 700 damage per round

5. Once you get past Act 3 many things start breaking. Also while it is true that the core of the game still works in the first three acts, there are many bugged talents and abilities that either do not work, or work incorrectly. That includes certain quests working out wrong. For example if you save a guy in Chapter 1 he tells you to talk to a rep vendor in Act 2 to get a discount as thanks. If you do this, rather than prices permanently going down, it triggers incorrectly, and instead prices permanently go up instead. Also the first two DLCs are going to add new companions and significant content to the main game, so if you want a full, bug free experience, wait a year.

She doesn't fully lose her memory, she is simply reborn. It's a much better ending for her and also for the Expanse, as if you don't allow her to complete the ritual you are dooming the Expanse to be ripped apart by the Eldar in the future when they come looking for vengeance.

It depends on your dialogue choices with Yrliet and the Farseer actually, in some of them they comment that Alaitoc is still going to show up in force and rip and tear everything. The entire reason Yrliet is contacting them in the first place is to try and convince them not to do that.
Well at least if you go after path of warrior flags and avoid tripping too many toomonkeigh flags and advocate for diplomacy/coexistence, that's what happens. Not interfering with the ritual also breaks the romance.
If your RT really loved Yrliet he would never have put her in a position to lose her soulstone to begin with. If you treat her well and help her save her people she keeps it.

The Navigator girl doesn't leave you if you play the romance correctly and she truly falls in love with you. She'll reject all marriage proposals and you will stay together for life. The other "good" option is to have her stay with you and abandon her house for you, but that option is fricked because the constant warp jumps mutate her to the point where she's not really human anymore and she leaves after spending decades with you. Whereas if you have her become Novator that doesn't happen and you're together for life. Basically you have to work at the romance to get the best ending, but it is a genuinely romantic and happy ending if you pull it off.

Actually no, she won't necessarily mutate to that point, many Navigators do not in fact fully mutate to abomination level before their lifespan ends. It's just a possible end for them, not a certain one. If she's a Novator she isn't doing constant warp jumps and is managing her house instead, so she is far less likely to mutate like that, which is why that result doesn't happen in her Novator ending. And yeah you can spend years apart, both of you are extremely powerful and important leaders that have your own responsibilities that take precedence. The fact you still maintain your love and relationship even in those circumstances just makes it more romantic, not less.

It's a slow burn romance, at the beginning she's repulsed by the thought of touching a mon-keigh but by the end she initiates handholding. Eldar are very, VERY slow on the uptake but I give it a century at most before you're fricking.

The game isn't that hard, though, once you wrap your head around the combat.
Make the sniper Black person your top priority and then just don't bunch up or Aurora's burst fire will rape you. Use Sensory Deprivation on him if you've got it.
I really like this game but I feel like you just become way too OP too easily and if you aren't cheesing then good placement and tactics aren't actually a good enough replacement.
I can't not use Argenta because sisters of battle are cool and the stuff she says is great, but I just finished chapter 3 and the only thing for about 2 chapters that has survived more than 2 turns is the final boss of 3 and that's because she literally will stop your attack and heal to full.
I know there are plenty of other completely busted specs out there too, it's like they didn't even consider balancing this game.
Also some of the decisions are weird. That event where the hunter attacks you after the 2nd (or 3rd?) arena fight and its just skill checks. I failed it twice even with 80% chance checks. Getting a game over from literal 100% rng in a choose your adventure format is simply stupid.
It's still fun though but I had to use toybox to fix several quests so far.

Like the other anon said, there are two named canon cases, and also there was some event (I think the fall of Cadia) where everyone inside a fortress fell to Khorne at the same time and started tearing each other to pieces, including the sisters. Kind of dubious if that counts though, since it wasn't voluntary.

I have tried this boss 4 times and every time I've fought it it's critting and one shotting my guys for 71 damage. Every hit is a crit. Even if Abelard gets all his shit off to tank it's still critting him for 50+ damage and two shotting him as he's failed to parry or dodge a single time, even with my strategems technically forcing rerolls on the guy.
Is there somewhere else I can go? I still need Cassia but I cannot enter the Opera or go back to the Arena so idk what else to do but this guy is just facerolling my entire team by turn 2.

Seriously dude I am not kidding, if you are losing to that thing the rest of Act 3 is going to DEMOLISH you, set the game to story mode or rework your builds.

Because Malice was easy, Arenas have been easy, shit all of Act 2 was borderline boring after the first planet because of how strong my chars were. Now they're just getting slapped instantly. I don't think Arch Militant would really help either because he wouldn't be getting a turn to start stacking BS and WS nonsense since Argentina isn't getting her turn either and I no longer have the BS into Parry gloves either that was letting her pseudo tank. The only character I was planning to redo is Pasqal because Bounty Hunter just clearly is worse than Assassin even for melee.

Yeah you must've run into a bug because after you get betrayed by Malice/The Commissar and do the first Arena fight, you get that quest and then you can get into the Opera by talking to that guy, which is where you get your gear back, and can recruit the Space Wolf + bargain for an early return of one of your other companions if you play your cards right. Which in your case would be Cassia.

Just to be sure are you trying to enter the Opera without talking to the guy at the door? Because he won't let you in if you do that, you have to actually TALK to him, specifically, and then go through the dialogue options to get him to open the door.
My Yrliet 2-tapped him. Start as far back as you can, build full exploits with pasqal, put down rear zone with locus on, drop a frontline zone on top of the target, skip turn. When Yrliet gets a go, full exploits again, expose weakness, seek the opening, killing edge. Bing bada boom, at least half hp gone. Finish up with death's whisper and someone else's turn if any HP remains.
That is what I'm currently attempting since the main issue has been the extra turns it gets destroying me once Abelard goes down.
If I didn't have her old rifle in Cargo she legitimately would have 0 weapons available though, since she doesn't have Drukari weapon proficiency. Which I don't enjoy using the cargo exploit but what the actual frick? Why does she not get any weapons she can use? She gets armor and unique to her , but I've looted absolutely everything and she had 0 weapons so I kinda cheated and grabbed something from cargo.

BUT its crit damage increases by 25% for every hit in a fight.
Arch Militants easily get 100% crit rate vis versatility stacks.

The Sororitas Power Armor is pretty damned good, I just wish she also found a Bolter to go along with it. It's got 80 some odd armor, 6 deflection, same dodge reduction as Medium Armor, +20 to strength, and boosts crit chance and crit damage by 5% every time she crits or kills something. It does reset whenever you miss, so burst shots with Confident Approach will make that bonus swing wildly. It's just such a shame that you get it so damned late in the game.

Break out that riot gear, it is 100% not happening. Your best bet are the two DLC companions being female and having romances available if you want more options than what's available, but odds are good at least one will be male, so yeah.

officers get an ability that gives them an extra turn at the very start of a round, which you use bring it down to give it to someone else. If you get an attack off on arora he applies the "hated" buff on that character and is forced to attempt to attack them.

You fricked up, some of the officer abilities are really good and have synergy with nav abilities. Like giving WP extra wounds to people you buff. As I said, reduce the difficulty or get to READIN homie, obviously unfair mode is going to assume you know the abilities inside and out.

Nah, the only worthwhile officer talents to take on her are Seize the Initiative and Steel Resolve, though you can potentially wait to take Steel at Exemplar if you're already in a good spot as far as momentum gains go. Most, if not all, of her Navigator talents outshine everything else she can pick, especially early on.
And you shouldn't even take Seize The Initiative if you're going Grand Strategist.

I disagree, actually, Grand Strategist is very good and requires minimal investment to make it shine, and moving first with full AP and options is gigantic in a game where Alpha Strikes make or break who wins the fight.
Sure, but then you have to wait till exemplar to scoop them up. There are only like 5 must have nav talents and you can get them when it asks for minor talents. All that shit in officer doesn't matter in the late game, but its a big boost in the early game when its actually difficult.
For example, all those extra minor nav talents aren't helping that dude beat aurora on unfair but some of the officer talents sure would have.

I bumblefricked my way through that on my first try, after getting 2 characters dead before they got their turn. His burst at the start is the biggest hit he will throw at you. After that, just keeping him busy reduced his damage by a lot.
In all honesty, there is a sniper on the ledge that will do more damage than him once turn one is over.

It's hard capped, and it's actually nothing compared to the stuff you can do with Soldier-Arch Militant + Officer so it doesn't really matter.
Introducing a spell that messes with the turn based system is a surefire way to create highly broken mechanics. Introducing a dozen of them both passive and active and letting them interact freely is either pure moronation or some deranged tzeenchian plot.
So everyone knows that Soldier/Arch-Militant is the most busted combo of archetypes in the game but what do you think is the worst?

I can at least see a case for Operative/Bounty Hunter when Celebrate the Kill exist allowing you to stack Tactical Knowledge faster with the free turns. Personally I think the worst is Solider/Master Tactician because even if Arch-Militant wasn't op why would you ever choose this for Solider

I advice going full exterminatos on all bonus turn and ap skills. Anything short of that will be an endless whack-a-mole while leaving the encounters broken and sometimes impossible without the aforementioned exploit strategies.
bounty hunter talents dont even work and cancel each other out. Unfortunately, the talents in BH dont work in a bad way unlike AM who's dont work in a good way.
I want to like BH because it's a cool idea, but this system heavily prioritizes killing everything on turn 1 and 2, which Assassin is just AMAZING at. If taken in a vaccum, Bounty Hunter isn't bad. You can do a lot of things and it's very good at eliminating specific enemies. There's two main issues, one of which is that it's more of a melee class than a ranged one, and assassin does both things better, the melee thing and the eliminating specific enemies bit. Officer itself is rather broken, but Grand Strategist which is a comparison, is kind of ass. Take and Hold has to be the worst Heroic Action in the game, since at best it's just a diluted Finest Hour but the main thing is that it requires way too much setup and relies on lots of weak enemies to be that good whereas Finest Hour is equally as great at killing bosses as it is chaff.
Grand Strategist is largely bad on its own, and not even that good of a rider class, it's just that Officer is GREAT and synergizes extremely well with both Assassin and Arch-Militant, which are the two most busted ass bullshit archetypes in the game.
Grand Strategist is way better than you're giving it credit for. The zones are extremely useful if used correctly, and synergize very well with the optimal strategies in this game. And most importantly, it makes you move first, which is gigantic in a game where Alpha Strike is king. If you roll Officer RT into Grand Strategist with Cassia likewise going Grand Strategist it is impossible to lose a single fight from that point on. Master Tactician is better in theory, since it has better abilities and the stacks are great to throw on your damage dealers, but ultimately the first move Grand Strategist gets is just too good by comparison, leaving it the clear winner of the two archetypes.
The main thing holding Grand Strategist back is that 95% of its talents suck, of course characters like Cassia don't care about this since they have way better personal talents they rather take instead
I was surprised how bad the killing strat is, I guess its good if you hate it when enemies survive with 1 HP but it almost never comes up.
The main benefit is to your melee dudes. Forcing enemies to essentially have disadvantage on Parry AND Dodge rolls is fricking nuts, but in practice your ranged characters usually have near max hit rate if not max crit rate too so only your melee guys really benefit from that. It's much harder to do a lot of damage in melee as opposed to ranged, so it definitely does something in that regard. Especially when you're spamming area attacks, generally at least one or two guys in a group will dodge or parry.
oh that's right, I forgot it does that.
Combat Locus Stratagem is pretty much all that you need, though, for the class to be worthwhile. And it frees up talents to go into statistic boosts or free movement or whatever you want.
Bounty Hunter. The prey gimmick is so fricking moronic when you can just melt enemies with an Arch-Militant/Assassin.
BTW, Grand Strategist is actually pretty useful on higher difficulty.
A Frontline locus/stronghold stratagem is actually quite handy for protecting your team from dying if they lose initiative.

He's an Arch Militant and he has very high base stats, so yeah, he can easily take over the game if you use him correctly. But you can do that with ANY Arch Militant, so he doesn't really stand out.

So far all the level up options seem to be like “spent half your turn, and get 0.05% more damage on melee attacks for one turn” or similar tiny situational benefits that don’t justify the time it takes to click them.

Some options are surprisingly good when later abilities are introduced. Killing edge for example shoots your base damage up so exponentially that any boosts you get end up being a huge number. For example, my orchestrate flame alone, which normally hits for around 40, can jump to 500 if all the lethality boosts from killing edge get applied to it when the target dodges.
Cassia shouldn't even be an Officer, or have any archetype beyond her Navigator shit.
The other two Officers in the game are grizzled veterans, and it's stupid that some stammering sheltered idiot girl should be able to be equally proficient at leading men into battle.
I really, REALLY, hate how much of a snowflake she is.

its over bro, I honestly had henrix run past aurora and charge down the map to get to that guy. If you can get behind those boxes infront of the shuttle he fricks with the snipers AI and he will try to get a good shot on him but cant find it.
Also I threw grenades at the guy that comes out of the doors. The dudes armour was so high I felt it was pointless to even attack him with dudes that couldn't even do damage to him.
Eventually I debuffed him so much he couldn't hurt us too bad and killed everyone else first. Cassia had that regain talent and he was mostly attacking her sicne she was mostly the only one attacking him until I could debuff all his armour away.
I've shot it three times but I always roll like 20.

Killing Edge, it's really good and even better right now since it's bugged and multiples all your damage. You can one shot just about anything with it, even without setting up an opening, WITH an opening it evaporates anything it touches.
This, killing edge is superior damage even when compared to deadeye and deathwhisper put together. Later on you obviously pick up DW as well, but don't open up with it on the main target. You want your boss at max hp so your killing edge gets the boosts to damage and lethality from damage. I like to pop DW on some rando who has an opening towards the sniper first to get the lethality and damage boosts on the subsequent biggus hittus on the big bad.

You can save more people based on how many shuttles are left by the end of the fight, if you have enough you can save two groups of people rather than just one. This only matters if you are taking the Iconoclast decision to do so, however.

Yrilet is hitting for 170 damage on turn 1 and Abelard in fact does not die instantly when he's wearing real armor and not gladiator chainmail.
