I mean it is a tactful response, what else i she supposed to say? No one expects this game to be on the same level. I played both early access periods for these games and bg3 mogged it from the beginning although I still think it will be a good game
Ngl I lost all respect for owlkeks the moment they mentioned Bg3. Worthless hacks who have no confidence in their own artistic vision. The Russian government can't kill their shitty studio soon enough though I'm glad that they've become pariahs in their own country.
Nice spergout. Owlcat and Larian don't have the cringe fanboy feud you see here.
They do actually. The farquaads over at larian keep forcing it when it for some reason.
I'm sure.
Do they also sneak around inside the walls of Owlcat's offices?
No, you sound insane.
they are fricked and they know it.
their games are overly stat focused and I assume Rogue Trader will be the same, no one enjoys casting 30 buffs before every encounter and having enemies with such moronicly high resistances that you can waste 3-4 turns before hitting them.
>cast a spell on an enemy
>have my own dice roll, and like 4 seperate dice rolls to get past their defenses
its offset by being some moronic shit like Weird, but everything is like this.
Rogue troony is the opposite of wrath of the righteous, it's a shitty casual game for morons with no tactical depth and no in depth character building. And I'm glad subhuman shit eaters like you got filtered by wotr lmao, it's a game for actual rpg fans, not larianslop consoomers.
I beat that shit on Core, its not hard it just requires a ton of fricking busy work.
>core
Lmao, you didn't even sniff beating the game, subhuman shit-eater. You know nothing of the genre and your opinions are worthless dogshit.
can you try speaking like a normal human being
>he """"""beat"""""" the game on core
Oh no... OH NO NO NO
Stacking numbers in your favor and rerolling until you get lucky is not skill.
>rerolling until you get lucky is not skill.
That's Baldur's Slop. RPGs with actual character building depth allow you to create party synergies that enable true 100% success rate.
you don't need to reroll as trickster.
merged angel or lich also trivializes the game even on unfair
the unbridled skill of stacking numbers so they overcome the enemy numbers.
>the unbridled skill of stacking numbers
Correct. The unbridled skill of making good character builds, something you will never accomplish, shit-eating animal.
Visions of madness cheating is for homosexuals
Expanded Arsenal exploit is for homosexuals
Evil Eye stacking is for homosexuals
Only women and homosexuals use turn based mode, which one are you?
>expanded arsenal exploit
>weird spamming
daring today aren't we
have a nice day furhomosexual
one or two sets of party compositions works for the higher difficulty. all role playing aspects are gone and you are left to choose play the same garbage comps everyone else has already made and then proceed to roll dice. even if you guarantee 100% success or fail rates you're locked in on HOW to do it. it's not really depth, only the illusion of depth, and you're a braindead hamster monkey for conflating the two.
Holy frick anon how gay can you be. Literally the definition of 'you didn't beat it.'
>Watch 20 min YouTube video
>Beat game on hardest difficulty
Wow so hard
>developers missed the most basic concept of "same source don't stack"
oh gee, no wonder those Black folk have 100+ AC, 200+ Atk, 80+ Str...
>Half the character build options aren't in the beta
>Complains about complexity when we don't even know how tier 3 and 4 classes work
What's the point of griping.
The only game that's fricked is Dragon Age Dreadwolf. The pathfinder games bring something different to the table that BG3 doesn't, so it's not like you're playing a straight downgrade
How the frick is Dreadwolf going to compete with BG3, Rogue Trader and whatever else comes along in the interim? I honestly forgot Dreadwolf was being made until you mentioned it.
They aren't. Bioware's reference point as revealed by leaks is God of War 2018, that's the game they will be trying to compete with. Dreadwolf is not in the same genre as Owlcat/Larian games.
Dreadwolf is gonna be an action combat RPG with a narrative driven story, i think it'll do fine since it'll effectively be BG3 except not turn based. with any luck, at least. the leaked footage looked pretty frickin' cool.
He didn't praise the game or Larian a single time, all he said was that the slop being popular might attract more players to actually good CRPGs.
Secret:
Incredible marketing by the best marketeers
I think it's more funny that it's in Ireland, the new tax haven for all shady multinational companies due to the extremely low taxes there, then anything else
Rogue Trader was a bad idea. Gameplay is secondary in a CRPG, and has been for a long time. So they make a CRPG where there is barely a narrative, let alone characters?
That answer is more than reasonable. What kind of answer did you expect?
An answer that doesn't suck up to lariaBlack folk and their dogshit visual novel slop. Not OP, btw.
>An answer that doesn't suck up to lariaBlack folk
It isn't even really doing that. It just isn't delusional about BG3's objective and undeniable success within the industry and genre that they too occupy.
You genuinely don't need to like BG3. But acting like its success isn't real just makes you come across as insane.
And recognizing that huge strides within niche genre like that can and often have positive effects for the genre as a whole. Is a sensible assessment that's more focused on their own prospects than it is on Larian.
>huge strides within niche genre like that can and often have positive effects for the genre as a whole
There are no "positive effects". Baldur's Slop is the most casual piece of shit "RPG" I've played in over a decade. It embodies everything that is cancerous to the genre:
1. Lack of character building depth.
2. lack of tactical depth.
3. Lack of any kind of challenge.
4. Fully voiced which means the dialogue trees could NEVER EVER be as expansive as they could've been with a partial voice-over, which, in turn, limits roleplaying depth.
It's fricking casual slop for morons. Owlkeks can burn for sucking up to this trash.
>There are no "positive effects".
It introduced tons of consumers to the genre. A genre that has struggled to maintain or garner a consumer base for ages.
>It's fricking casual slop for morons.
You don't need to like them, but they provide much desired capital.
>Owlkeks can burn for sucking up to this trash.
Again you're just being unreasonable. As stated. They didn't suck up to Larian. They were asked a question about Larian and just weren't in denial over how BG3 is extremely successful.
As I said. You can think BG3 is dogshit. But thinking it isn't successful is delusional.
It's going to kill CRPGs and turn it into yet another movie game genre. The future is Playing Game without the Roleplay.
lol @ u
I'm so excited for the future where the voiced npcs have more story than the player themselves. It's going to be great!
>It's going to kill CRPGs and turn it into yet another movie game genre.
Based on what?
Based on BG3 having NPCs more interesting than the player character, the whole game is less about your character and more about everyone else. It's actually sad. Again, movie game. The next game will push this dynamic even farther, soon you won't even generate your own character, you'll get to only pick from predefined Origin Characters because of muh voice acting budget.
Play dark urge
>Swen swears on his mum that they learned from D:OS2 origin character shitfest and that custom character in BG3 will have a story of its own instead of having absolutely nothing and playing second fiddle to origins
>BG3 comes out, custom character has absolutely nothing yet again because they separated it and Durge somewhere down the line
Ebin.
It's very fricking obvious that dark urge was meant to be the actual custom character, they probably backpedaled because they didn't want to force people to be le ebin bhaal murderer
But at the same time they also backpedaled with dark urge himself because you're only forced to kill like one person in the entire game
Durge was definitely going to be baked into the baseline character. I think separating it was for the best. Most people like to play "blank slate" characters in RPGs.
>"blank slate" characters in RPGs
It's shit when every companion is a special snowflake of some kind
Proper origins like in DAO can be good, WotR's tabletop also had them, and RT actually does have them, I hope they have reactivity
Owlcat does it right and I hope more people do their style instead of what Larian does every time. The most special snowflakey characters in wotr and Woljif and Ember and if it wasn't for the commander boosting them with mythic powers their stories would've just ended with death.
Well blank slate isn't particularly fun when the world cares more about the side characters. A good RPG is a blank slate but the world treats your decisions in the game like an origin, it's supposed to be a craft your own origin based on actions, not everyone reacting to your companions.
The issue is not blank state, the issue is an absolute blank state without even basic foundation when all your companions are speshul dunnutsteel OCs with 20 pages of backstory and clearly the intended characters to play the game as. Gorion's Ward is a blank state character but it's not a problem because he has basic foundation - he spent his life in Candlekeep and then [game's story] happened, everything is covered in the prologue. In BG3, custom character is a uhhh... and he's in the middle of everything because uhhh... well, he's from Baldur's Gate, he gets to say that few times! But nobody there knows him. He doesn't know anyone either. Not even any relatives. He doesn't even have his own place to live despite being native. Backgrounds don't account for anything either. Absolute zero on all fronts.
And somehow you're convinced that of all the newcomers to the genre, introduced to the genre through BG3. None will check out or enjoy other games of the genre now that they've been introduced to it?
Given the slop people eat now for modern entertainment my hopes aren't high. So no, I think these people aren't capable of real RPGs and instead will only play movie slop RPGs.
>everything that makes my shitbuild look bad in comparison is an """exploit"""
LariaBlack folk have never sniffed real tactical depth.
>if they disagree with me they're a lariangay
absolutely mindbroken
Why is that smug fox lady transforming this innocent water elemental into an alcohol elemental?
?si=s0PRVVHAeK6hUPwx
here's someone beating the game with your build minus the other 5 party members
This studio rivalry is artificial as frick, who is trying to force it so hard?
Must be discord homosexuals. Or a schizo. Or a shitposter.
He's an instigating doubleBlack person.
At this point, I think it can't be anyone but Joshua "Basedbreasts" Sawyer.
no one even gives a shit about this studio anymore
Same with larian, hence the fake rivalry shit.
Then it's only logical, no? Nobody even remembers Obsidian's cRPGs anymore, people only ever talk about Pathfinder and Baldur's Gate. So, being a bitter c**t he is, he started shitting up the entire internet with fake Owlcat/Larian rivalry so nobody could talk and enjoy things.
It feels like it's coming from larian's farquad force. He just did an interview you gays won't let go of.
You're never going to stop forcing this meme huh
>farquad gets upset again
many such cases!
holy schizo
Is that the guy from Law and Order on his t-shirt?
This Black person lost so hard
Sounds kino.
It's not that hard to write 40k romances. Cain has at least 2 waifus in the books.
>Dynasty union
Confirmed Chorda romance.
It's talking about Cassia
Nah that romance starts lovey dovey with you calling her beautiful and her blushing and going full bounds of propriety when you get in close.
That's in the beta, who says they won't change it for the full release? I can't think of another character that fits that description
Are there just no humans with absolutely zero implants in 40k universe?
Not rich ones.
So what, real human purity can only be found in the slums?
Slums just have cheaper implants, some vain people go for seamless hidden stuff but this shit is why Abelard looks 50 at 300.
Well there's probably worlds that shun them, but mostly the nobility of a world will do anything for some kind of edge or longer life. Why so many end up executed for being cultists.
The Guard typically only have implants to replace lost parts, which is often but not the majority. Unless they're from a death or forge world, might be requirements for survival on those.
Sawyer never said he hated romance in games he just doesn't like Bioware style shit and he said he doesn't feel like he has the skills to do romance in a game correctly.
What interview is this from?
https://wccftech.com/warhammer-40k-rogue-trader-qa-owlcat-on-addressing-beta-feedback-improving-romances-and-thanking-larian/
gays on /vrpg/ and Ganker. It's really tedious. And that one particular super dedicated mongoloid who calls everyone a shit eater or whatever, but he attacks anyone who plays WotR in a way he doesn't like as well.
This homie trying to praise WotR as some amazing fricking game when it was about as good as BG3 and just as fricking buggy.
Do not insult WotR by comparing it to baldgay slop. Pillars of Eternity is the best RPG ever made and WotR is a very close and respectable second.
>not turn-based
>turn-based mode is boring as shit
yeah hard pass
It's code for not turning the genre into a weg like larian is trying to do.
These companies have been making games for 30 years the difference is now it's a coombrain genre when it wasn't before. Devs are cautioning NOT to go down this route.
Baldurs Gate 3 and Starfield really broke this board huh?
Nope
Accept the superiority of 5e
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T SELL ADEQUATELY IF YOU DON'T OUTPERFORM THIS ARBITRARY COMPARISON I'VE SET
>WHAT THE FRICK DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T CARE, SEETHE AND COPE!!!!?
>comparing
you didnt play either, right OP?
RTWP is OVER
cope
You sound insane.
and SEETHE
Are you not taking your medications?
Larian saying what every dev actually thinks. The whole "Larian has ruined us oh no" was such marketing bullshit.
I liked BG3 and both Pathfinders.
Based frogposter
Reject dev wars, embrace video games
This seems like a shitty bait thread trying to start an Owlcat vs Larian war after the BG3 vs Cyberpunk 2077 thread turned into a shit on Starfield thread, the funny thing is that most people will play and enjoy oth BG3 and Rogue Trader the same way most people played and enjoyed both DOS2 and Pathfinder:Kingmaker. Here is the real way things are going right now:
>System Shock Remake is great
>Jagged Alliance 3 is great
>Blasphemous 2 is great
>BG3 is great
>Starfield sucks ass and has some of the worst writing i've ver seen in a videogame
>Cyberpunk 2077:PL is great
>Rogue Trade is not out yet but it will most likely be better than Starfield
Is that not a correct and wise response? Owlcat isn't trying to compete with Larian in terms of dialogue autism, their games have always been crunch over fluff. BG3 is the first cRPG for most likely the majority of its playerbase, you go look at the ~300k it has on Steam and ~200k of those have probably never played Pathfinder or the original games or PST or anything else. Maybe Mass Effect or KotOR.
>Owlcat isn't trying to compete with Larian in terms of dialogue autism
Well obviously, only because they don't have the money
The only thing anyone can take from BG3 success is that presentation is the king. Actual gameplay is secondary.
Always has been
The fact that Rogue Trader is full turn-based will be the game's saving grace. Moving away from RTWP will make Owlcat that much better at encounter design.
Watch them make one million trash encounters per map like if it was a rtwp game
> new non-fantasy CRPG is just around the corner... we're saved, bros...
the virgin vatniks fear the belgian chads
extremely based of them to write such a humble, positive statement about BG3. that's the approach more devs should have taken instead of being like,
>PLEASE DON'T HOLD US TO THIS STANDARD, IT'S TOO HARD FOR US IT'S UNFAIR WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
they jumped on the warhammer bandwagon just as it fell off a cliff with the wider audience, and now d&d stuff is resurgent when they've abandoned pathfinder lol
russia loses again
Owlcat knows that all BG3 did is prove that a game without excessive monetization that's just fun to play is what people want. They pretty much already follow that model so unlike most of the industry they're not quaking in their boots and trying to say it's actually bad or whatever.
