I'm playing a heretical warrior right now. Are there any xenos melee weapons worth using?
Most of the early Xenos stuff are chainsaws, which aren't as good as power weapons. Their guns are underwhelming as well.
I think the drukarii swords near the end of act 2 are way over tuned, they do near double damage more then the power hammer.
Archmilitant has a talent that grants power weapons the ability to knock enemies prone and deal energy damage.

Henrix is a shit version of Abelard, but then again no one can compete with the pure Chad energy of Abelard.

I found it funny that when you get Yrliet to apologize for her betrayal in Act 3, Cassia accepts the apology. Meanwhile Henrix, and Argenta being good little chuddies don't accept the apology.

Except that Cassia also says that death would be a mercy Yrliet doesn't deserve. Specifically, because what Cassia went through was worse than death. I don't think people grasp just how fricked up the tortures your companions ended up enduring were, Yrliet even comments that they will have their souls scarred for the rest of their lives because of what happened. It's really hard to justify not killing her, imagine if a companion or friend of yours betrayed you and the people you are about most were horribly tortured as a result. I just can't see forgiving something like that, it feels like only in a video game setting would that even be something that's within the realm of possibility. They really should've made it so multiple characters could betray you depending on the choices you made up to that point in the game, rather than more or less destroying an entire companion character for most playthroughs, because if you are roleplaying your character at all there is simply no way you could forgive what she does.

If Yrliet isn't there you get rused by Heinrixs agent on your homeworld, Achilleas, who is actually working for Marzahai the whole time. If you talk to Yrliet about what happened that lead up to the betrayal, she mentions that she found Achilleas suspicious, so she tracked him and caught him communicating with Marzahai, after which she killed him and made her own deal with Marzahai since he baited her with his knowledge of what happened to her people. Heinrix doesn't believe Achilleas is a traitor if Yrliet is the one who betrays you, by the way, as he thinks she's just lying to cover her own tracks. I haven't seen how that plot thread develops, if it does at all, since I stopped playing in Act 4 after I got tired of companion quests and other things flat out not working.
It does get one little bit more in act 3 if you have both elves and jimmi in the party and tell jimmi about his compromised agent then later on jimmi tries to confront yrilet about it and while he's grilling her marzipan just unloads all the details on how he tortured the poor schmuck and even found out the name of his lover to which jimmi just shuts up afterwards.

All the other Rogue Trader dynasties who see it as a problematic overreach into their business. The Inquisition doesn't exist in a vacuum, they need the cooperation of many factions to do their business. Any Inquisitor that falls out of favour with some of the more important guys like Archmagoe of Admech, Chapter Masters of Astartes or indeed particularly influential Rogue Trader dynasties will find that they get ostracised and have trouble continuing with their line of work. It's all politics at the end of the day, and Rogue Traders are some big political players.
As an addendum, you cannot refuse a Warrant of Trade. How ironic would it be if an Inquisitor got handed a Warrant to oust him out of the Inquisition just because he kept poking his nose too deep in Rogue Trader business?

This literally happens in the lore. Warrants of Trade can be given from Exemplary service and heroism for the Imperium or because someone in the Administratum wants to have you frick off somewhere because you're a problem.

And he has no jurisdiction over a Rogue Trader.
An inquisitor has "jurisdiction" over anything including but not limiting to space marines, planetary governors, other inquisitors and absolutely rogue traders. And while some RTs are rich AF most are basically Jae tier but with a ship. Smugglers, spies and often privateers preying and trading with Tau among others.
He has textbook jurisdiction but the spirit of it is very much diplomatic equals. An inquisitor that pulls rank on Astartes and Rogue Traders without being diplomatic about it is going to have a fairly short career.

True but any astartes that directly harms or defies an inquisitor risks hostility from the entire Imperium at large. Other fellow astartes included. Even space wolves got nearly wiped at one point and many less powerful chapters were outright excommunicated and purged. Some justly and some far less so.
As for RTs some are famously rich but many others are borderline privateers, smugglers or something in between. It's up to the warrant but literally no one short of the Emperor and arguably the custodes by extension is above their jurisdiction.
I mean, if you have Argenta and Ulfar in the party, after you recruit Marzahai they run off and try to kill him before you return to the base. So Owlcat probably didn't bother to have companions constantly trying to kill Marzahai since it would just be retreading ground they already went over. The general implication with Marzahai is that your companions ARE trying to kill him all the time but he's used to that kind of thing since that's a normal existence for him.
He also seems to have a dialogue with fem Trader where he basically blames himself

Early on, not really. Later...meh.
To make Pyro better early you have to use team effort; take Grenadier and Firestorm. Use the no-friendly grenade damage cloak, and the boots that let you add stacks of burning if you are stood in fire.
Have Abelard take talents and gear that has him remove debuffs like flaming at end of turn. Use Cassia with seize the initiative to do a turn 1 Abelard charge/taunt. When all the enemies get close to him, if Cassia goes before you then Bring it Down on yourself and throw a fire grenade, then firestorm. If you are BH/Ass/Arch you can then walk up and use Claim/Deathbringer/Wildfire to get an attack in as well. If you then go, firestorm again and you'll burn most things down in 2 turns or so.
The problem is you feel kind of slow to get up to speed in combat especially if you have someone like Argenta with a heavy stubber who can easily do like 4-7 10+ shot burst attacks a turn each hitting for 80-100+ damage a crit hit. This is made more broken by Confident Advance and her talent that increases Crit damage by +1% every time she hits something. It's basically going to be my "Sly Marbo" heavy gunner build on the next playthrough.

Sure, it has lower than average damage and armor piercing than any other endgame weapon, BUT it also increases its crit damage by 25% every time you get a hit, and Arch Militants will be scoring auto hits and auto crits easily within their first turn or so. This alongside the bonus damage you get for high versatility stacks, and the weapon should quickly outpace any other in raw damage.

If you know the 40k lore, you know how bullshit powerful that makes you, alone. If you also got a good end with Jimi (+Rep inquisition), and Ulfar (+Rep Space Wolves) you're one of the most unfrickwithable people in the Imperium and beyond. And then, you know, your own Dynasty and Rogue Trader influence. Sure it's not the retire-on-a-farm happy family ending that a lot of us want but as 40k endings go (I'm not just giving a muh grimderp copout) you can do very fricking well for yourself and those you love. It is an unfortunate truth in life that power begets responsibility and responsibilities take our time. More so for some of the most powerful individuals in the Imperium Imagine how many beds you'll have to go through when you're making that time count with how much of a freak Cassia is. I will say that following the events of the final act we should honestly be drawing the gaze of Rowboat himself and probably Trazyn. But I'm sure GW gave them a fishbowl to write in and this is what we got. Do I think the Owlkek could have done better? Frick yes, some of this shit is dumb grimderp for grimderp's sake and doesn't have that pang of bittersweet heroism that I've come to know and love from the novels. But if you can let go of the perfectionist frustration there are a lot of silver linings if you'll allow yourself to see them. For the rest, just fill in the blanks with headcanon.

The reputation system is so goddamned dumb. Stuff from later chapters shouldn't be weighed the same when it comes to cargo. I think the worst part about it is the fact that increasing your rep with one faction makes it so the others now need more to level up. That's before considering that you don't even know that there's more items beyond what you see without metagaming on top of there just not being enough loot. Power Armor coming from the Drusians and not the AdMech faction is also dumb as shit.
It they were gonna go with this dumb system they should have had recurring events, either during travel or in random systems, that award reputation. I just did the shit on Footfall after getting back from Deldar town and the miserly factions gave me 500 rep for saving their asses. 500. That's the same amount I'd get for some Holy items or some Xenotech. It's asinine.

I would do the same if I could. Sadly, I'm trudging through this on a console. I think an easy fix would be getting rid of the escalating costs for other factions whenever you invest in a faction, as well as increasing how much weapons and armor are worth depending on which chapter they came from. Maybe give a few contracts that can give a solid amount of rep in exchange for Profit Factor as well as random events through traveling or good colony events that lets you raise reputation as a reward for keeping Security high.

Somewhat early on I encountered some b***hing Two Handed Swords. Can't for the life of me remember where I saw the first one, but it might have even been act 1 with how early it was.
The pirates of Thunder Fang have one, but it's way down there.
The two-handed weapons are a bit of a miss for melee, get your ancient force sword and swing that until the end of the game

Don't forget that two handed weapons (except swords, get fricked swordies) get double your strength as a damage modifier instead of just the regular modifier

I usually try to give them a knife in their offhand, since it bumps their dodge reduction quite a bit.
I haven't found much reason, unless it's Jae with her unique talent, or your 1h weapon is straight up better than 2handers. Some Drukhari blast pistols in Act 3 are better than any 2h meltas you can find at that point.
Kinda sucks, they could have done more with the system, considering how iconic sword in the one hand, gun in the other is so iconic for 40k.

I like how I unintentionally am playing a dwarf. Physical height compared to Cassia and Yrliet aside, his portrait looks dwarfish, he is wielding a Heavy Bolter half his size, armor and helmet on his IG Officer suit make him look bulky, and he is Dogmatic/Iconoclast for all but the few funny Heretic options. Bless his heart.

I've cargo'd everything and max out at lv 10. It's literally, literally impossible to hit max favour with the factions on daring
I feel like you might be able to max out a single faction if you feed them every single piece of cargo, and build every single colony building that increases your reputation with them.

Take a dip into biomancy for the poison dot and ditch the heavy for medium with second skin and you're probably golden

I have taken every possible choice for my alignment, done every sidequest I've found, and I'm hitting alignment checks I can't meet in the main story...
First bits of chapter 4? Most of the checks jump up to Votary around that time. I'm literally 15 points away from that rank and have been doing side stuff to try and eke them out. Much like the reputation gains, I feel like the alignment gains are way too low.
For all the anons in this thread: Make fricking sure you get to Votary in your chosen alignment by the end of chapter 3. The only options I've found for getting more at the start of chapter 4 are a basic D/I/H pick with Ascelpius and the heretic option for Marzipan. Jae's quest in Footfall immediately hits you with Votary Dogmatic, as does Chorda when you meet her. I've got a feeling that not taking these will eventually lead to not having enough to hit ranks 4 or 5. I almost wanna do a new playthrough and not be so damned wishy washy between Dogmatic and Icon (only a small handful of Icon decisions, but they're biting me in the ass now), but I also wanna know how the rest of the game goes so I'll be better prepared for the next run.

I know this game scales some areas, but do they scale everything as you gain levels? Pascal has had his ability to hit chance drop below 50% when just two levels ago he always had a 95% chance, and I'm fighting roughly the same enemies in an optional area.

That's in act 2, right? I think those are flags for her regular companion quest, not romance. But we don't really know how her romance and her companion quest interact with each other

I'm not even 10 minutes into Act 3 and can say with absolute certainty and confidence that is the single worst thing I have ever been forced to play, and I played some absolute stinkers in my time. The Owlcucks have really outdone themselves this time. At least the House at the End of Time was at the very end of the game and you were moderately invested to slog through it to the finish line, but it's is the fricking halfway point and infinitely worse designed this time around.

Being an Iconoclast means you have brain damage which allows you to interpret other brain damaged people.
Icono is the only one that pursuing romances and friendship is in-character. Dogma believes that attachment is a weakness that must be purged. Heretic believes the same, but they see attachments as a means to manipulate others.
Like I said, braindamaged. If I wasn't so weakwilled and wired by evolution to desire the acceptance of others, I would purge myself of attachments too.
Dogmatic hates xenos too much to understand funny verse, heretic is too busy being evil, only iconoclast can see through the funny clown prose to understand the threads of life that connects all living things.

Just finished it. Great game, definitely the rpg of the year for me. The downsides of course are half-baked mechanics like ship combat and poorly explained progression of secondary mechanics like reputations. And of course countless opportunities to softlock yourself and requiring a patch to even be able to start the final act.

I got it and noticed the same thing but then noticed it wasn't giving it all the time and the times it properly works it also removes the instances you yourself can apply prey down to once at the start. It's like 70/30 in terms of it either being busted that way or busted the other way.

But regardless you confront her about this complete non issue and under the context of romancing her if you go "I don't care you lied just be honest with *me*"" she tells you straight to your face "I didn't sign a contract, we aren't married, I am under no fricking obligation to ever tell you the truth" and then the rest of the conversation carries on as normal.
It's a very sad interaction because when you shove aside all the over the top grand standing and flirting and bullshit and you find out the literal core of her character (which again very dumb twist makes zero sense as to why you should care) instead of the one moment where she could show some vulnerability in any capacity she goes lmao gay at you.

Towards end times, fantasy chaos warriors started behaving identically to CSMs, down to eating babies, abandoning young in the wilds (or eating them), and not caring if the world was destroyed and their souls forever tortured too (because at least everyone else would be feeling the pain too).

You fight in the arena (what you just did), you talk to the alien in the opera, you fight in the arena one more time, you go the the opera and talk to the guy again, and then you have one dungeon and it's over. Most of the time is just talking to NPCs if you want and looking for loot. So you're already like half done if you already did the first arena fight
