What happened to the game?
I remember them going "yeah yeah tons of dlc coming!"
then the first was made like one fricking year after the release, was kinda ok and no more news
This pretty much.
The difference between great and shit items is way too large in 2, especially considering they matter much more in 2.
Seriously, whose idea was it to put something like Ghor's Tome in the uncommon tier?
The fact I got an item that feels worthless in late game instead of the many other busted uncommons.
The power difference between the best items and the worst items in each tier is too large and sometimes you feel robbed, especially with shrines of the mountain.
>muh late game
if you're past 40 minutes it doesn't matter what you pick up, ghor's helps a lot with getting through stages faster

>>muh late game >it doesn't matter what you pick up
Enjoy getting chronobauble, ghor's tome or squid polyp after triggering 3 mountain shrines, homosexual. >ghor's helps a lot with getting through stages faster
Maybe in the first 5 minutes, the scaling is a joke.
ghor is gigashit compared to roll of pennies, which is a fricking white.
seriously, you can stand in some weak lemurian fire trail and get enough money to buy the entire map within seconds.
even works on e8 since the individual hits aren't enough to trigger the debuff.
A lot of the green items are objectively worse than white items, it's wild. Like the flower that heals you during teleporter events and the squid turret one.
This.
Whites - easy to stack, good effects, powerful in large amounts but weak in small amounts
Greens - gimmicky items, either require lots of stacks to be useful or a very specific build/loadout
Reds - strong items, don't stack too well
Yellows - some feel like greens and some like reds
Blues - strong with strong downside, weak with strong downside, weak with weak downside, strong with weak downside
Purples - turn your cool items into shit/turn your shit items into gold
Oranges - royal capacitor

Squid Polyp is fantastic. Do you even play the game? I assume that most players who hate on items don't play on Monsoon or are Commandlets. Lepton Daisy is amazing on Monsoon / Eclipse where your self regeneration is low.
The game isn't balanced around eclipse, it's a meme gamemode that people play on to flex that they're "hardcore gamers". Just play a modded difficulty.

Eclipse is literally a gamemode they threw together rapidly to give people something to do after they beat the game. It literally makes one of the characters nigh-unplayable. If you're defending it you must have a really skewed perception of what fun is.

He is not wrong, different items are useful in different situation, and different gamemodes ar eone of those.
That said, most people play the normal mode and no, in there those 2 are kinda meh

Squid polyp isn't that bad anymore now that the vending machine exists. It requires a gimmicky, specific build but you can definitely make it work. Lepton daisy is good for healing all your drones and turrets during the teleporter event and during the holdout zones in the new void stage. Every item has its use, some are very niche though. I can probably name at least one niche use for every shitty item.

green item the refreshes your cooldowns is unreliable as frick and even more useless than tome, what's the niche here

Bandolier? It can be good for replenishing really lengthy abilities and making them spammable. Combine it with the doll equipment and some equipment cooldown reduction and you can have easily spammable abilities.

maybe you are right, it's just there are a lot of items esp green ones that are just not fun to get, i am more excited to see a hoof then those ones

having a use isn't the point, the point is that they just can't compete with other item in the tier
"healing you drones" is a kinda useless niche considering drones arent that useful and it does require a certain timing anyway.
Squid requiring you to gimp youself with a shitty use item too, isn't exactly a good way to say "it's not bad"
It's fun to kill Mitrix with a vending machine and tons of squid turrets, but that doesn't mean it's a decent item

Well that's just how roguelikes go. Some items are good and some are bad. If every item was good then this already easy game would be even easier.
Squid polyp is a detrimental item, moron. ESPECIALLY on Monsoon. Yeah I love my squid polyp's getting corrupted and one shotting me late game while doing frick all otherwise.
Didn't they make it so squid polyps cannot be corrupted anymore? Or was it a mod?

You might have some mod on because they sure as hell can still get corrupted in game right now. You might be thinking of them patching out your drones being corrupted.

That was a bug, they can't be corrupted now. In Monsoon, I'll take all the extra damage and crowd control I can get.

How long ago was this patched? Because this happened in a run with a friend of mine recently. He opened a void pod after the teleporter and was instantly killed by the corrupted squid polyp, ending the run. It couldn't have been more than a month ago.

Are beetle queen's boss item summonable guards still corruptable btw?
i remember getting wooped by my own beetle one time, felt really bad
i just don't like the combat in 1, you just hold one button and spam every other button when they're off cooldown in two directions. there's no real dodging other than climbing ropes.
I've spent about 180 hours in 1 and 140 in 2 and the mods is what makes RoR 2 more fun in my opinion and proves that hotpoo has no idea how to handle 2.
The fact that they just refused to add Enforcer into 2 when he would arguably have been the easiest to add thanks to his entire kit working perfectly in 3D sort if cemented the fact that the devs have no fricking clue what they are doing and that they are blinded by their very narrow and stupid vision of the game.
This is proven by the fact that the latest Enforcer mod is fricking perfect, sure he is a little OP since he can block all damage that hits him from the front, but anyone with just basic scripting knowledge can just reduced the angle where an Enforcer can block attacks and all of that would immediately go away, proving that the devs are fricking morons for not even trying in the first place.
The DLC was made by a b-team that hotpoo hired since he knows there's money to be made from this game. That's also why the dlc felt weird compared to the original game - it was made by people who haven't really played this game before. They're going to keep milking out DLCs but seeing how buggy sotv was on release, I can't imagine the next dlcs being worth any money.
I really enjoyed ROR2 but I no longer have the means to play it, pic related.
All I want is for ROR1 to be updated with proper online matchmaking (and maybe fix the FRICKING LADDERS).
Seconding this.
I heard the enemy balancing is fricked, so I'm not dropping money for it before trying it out.
Wouldn't be that surprising honestly, bonus point if it's some writepad file were you need to write "DLC_unlock"
All the files for the DLC ARE in the game, since that's how they let non-dlc owners play with dlc owners without having to download shit on the fly. It's a bit more complicated than changing"dlc_unlocked" to true, and I'm pretty sure they keep adding more and more tricks to it with every update. I don't really know what the trick is nowadays but there's guides on /vm/.
you can probably find it just by searching DLL on the archive, /vm/ is slow as shit and i doubt there's a lot of DLL editing going on or being discussed.
Because the characters don't have any personalities so you can attach your own, they're blank slates. They also experience a lot of wacky situations during the game so a lot of meme formats fit perfectly.
Feel like shit just want Han-d back
What happened to the game?

Probably didn't pay enough ecelebs to promote the game.
the dlc came out 3 months ago you fricking moron ape
Oh right sorry,*the first was made nearly TWO fricking year after the release
That doesn't change my point, if anything it make it worse
Can't agree more
1 is better and hopoo killed 2
This pretty much.

Rarity is not supposed to make an item better. Majority of the best items in the game are white.
>Rarity is not supposed to make an item better
Then what is the point of having rarer items?
This.
Whites - easy to stack, good effects, powerful in large amounts but weak in small amounts

there isn't much more dodging in ror2 either
t. drizzlet who plays on command
I like both. I’ve played more ROR2, I like the 3D aspect more than the 2D stuff.
RoR 2 is better modded
RoR 1 is better unmodded
I've spent about 180 hours in 1 and 140 in 2 and the mods is what makes RoR 2 more fun in my opinion and proves that hotpoo has no idea how to handle 2.

Hopoo's handling of 2 genuinely makes me wonder just how much of the first game was someone else's idea

Why does Risk of Rain have the best memes?
Because the characters don't have any personalities so you can attach your own, they're blank slates. They also experience a lot of wacky situations during the game so a lot of meme formats fit perfectly.
Heh
>shinderiu
I smiled more at that typo than the recycled joke
This game is $10 at GameStop
Redpill me on it
great game until you beat it once
beating it once may take you over 30 hours trying minimum
One thing people are forgetting about the squid polyp is how it distracts enemies. On higher difficulties this is a godsend sometimes.
Are there ways to make custom maps?
Yeah, there's not much mod documentation but some people have done it before. It's just unity, so it shouldn't be that difficult.
I just came here to post my favourite image and leave
