Jagged Alliance 3 won because less people played it. Baldur's Gay had more votes, and the total points and votes for BG3 are almost twice that of Jagged Alliance 3.

Oh, i did not play that one. Did not play Space Wreck either. Should've specified that, i guess. But the rest are good with the exception of Lies of P.
It's all pretty shitty. I was honestly ready to give up on crpgs entirely if bg3 had not released. 2024 is stacked with great crpgs to look forward to by comparison with some actual enthusiast stuff.
Jagged Alliance 3 is really good if you like XCOM. Rogue Trader is if you like Warhammer lore, BG3 and Solasta if you like D&D, Cyberpunk 2077 if you like 80's sci-fi and action, Colony Ship is for sci-fi enthusiasts, Underrail if you like Fallout 1.

Two actions per unit is fricking moronic. It's why very few games that have a similar UI style to nucom actually use the full two actions. The TU system allows much better granularity of actions and has a real cost for said actions. While in Nucom you have 3 types of actions based on cost, free actions which you should always take, single cost actions which you should try and maximize and full cost actions which you should avoid or cheese using abilities.
POD enemy placement is completely moronic player and AI no longer play with the same rule and this change doesn't benefit the gameplay. It removes things like ambushes, destroys the organic combat encounters. It is such a blatant dogshit design that nucom 2 introduced the also dogshit stealth feature to try and reintroduce the later too.
The transformation of actions into abilities is more neutral than strictly negative as a change. The problem is the implementation. Nuxcom borderline plays like a simple puzzle game. There is always a best course of action for each turn while Old Xcom had equal worth for multiple solutions. The puzzleification of NuXcom got so bad that the last game they made Midnight Suns was a decent card puzzle game not a tactics game.
Anywho this whole discussion belongs on a more dignified board.

I just googled up some places the codex chart was posting and everyone is nodding in approval on reddit and updooting it, lmao
Codexers are capable of discussing build mechanics, something /vrpg/ is incapable of doing, generally speaking, so they do have valuable input. In this the behavior of their statistical manipulation of the vote makes sense here, while seeming to discredit their system. However, it is also clear to me they lost their souls somewhere along the way to be replaced with nothing but numeric autism and decaying grognardism, which also makes sense in the context of their selection of titles.
I haven't played some of these titles, but I doubt lies of P stacks up against all JRPGs released 2023.
I'm not much of a JRPG player in the first place but seems to be a clear bias that there's not one on the list.
I am surprised to see titles with leftist pandering in there like BG3, CP2077 but like myself they are probably rational enough to calculate when a game is good in spite of the political baggage.
>Codexers are capable of discussing build mechanics
Youre describing owltard threads, which is an offshoot of a dead general for bad and dead games on /vg/, so of course they are full of morons. Actual good rpgs have plenty in depth discussion here. Proof that many anons here have no idea what logic is and why they still need external websites and streamers to tell them how to play rpgs.
I personally don't like splitting games into gernes. There are good games(AKA games i like) and there are bad games. For example there are games like Warlords Battlecry 2 and Warlords Battlecry 3 that people like to put into the strategy section when in reality those games have more RPG elements then games like Diablo 2.
>Bayesian Ranking that gives a massive boost based on the number of votes

The top 4 of the list is solid. Anyone who has problems with any of the games in the top 4 is a homosexual troon and should kys.
moron. I was never on codex to beging with. That's why unlike you i don't try to twist a list that has genuinely good games on it as something bad. Fricking moron.
up there: barry, blood, raven, scully
all of them are extremely efficient with decent personalities. Scully is obviously overpriced but he's ready to go the moment you hire him. Raven just kills everyone. Blood is very cost-effective early game (knives don't run out of bullets) and his ability remains useful lategame too. Barry is such a nobrainer pick for earlygame and his special is ridiculously good even late.
I wish there were more mercs, especially ones with good EXP, MEC and LDR. Taking both barry and livewire early is too optimal thing currently.
What about Fox? She's funny as frick. Having her and Wolf banter was highly entertaining.

Or rather; your own merc is pretty much shoehorned into taking LDR and covering EXP and MEC with barry and livewire covers all your bases. I guess there could be more options for a really high MED too, since now M.D. is the obvious choice for that.
I wanna see my man Trevor in ja3.
I think /vrpg/ is more on the ball than codex at this point. They miss tons of CRPG news and it's kind of become an ignorant bubble of shit consuming. Their goty poll is basically just felipepe copy-pasting the released rpg list off rpgwatch and just voting on the 3 out of 150 games they played that year. This place's main issue is just the mods letting spamming morons run rampant and set up permanent generals to push their garbage, makes this place feel claustrophobic sometimes as half the catalogue is pure garbage data.
>They miss tons of CRPG news and it's kind of become an ignorant bubble of shit consuming.
I'm pretty sure they only post what people submit to their site. Like RPG Watch will straight up hunt down developers and personally contact them, codex staff doesn't do that shit. They just browse social media and collect paypig bux.
Go back.
As a former Codexer I don't give a shit, the site is a shell of its former self and no one who made it what it once was is still there now.

I'm willing to tone it down to pretty good from great, but anything more would be an overcorrection.
No, codexir/xer. BG3 is high.
>JA3 great
>Colony Ship great
>Baldur's Gate 3 great
>Rogue Trader(is great so far, yet to finish it)
The top 4 of the list is solid. Anyone who has problems with any of the games in the top 4 is a homosexual troon and should kys.
Youre here because codex is wrong and a shit board now. You'd rather be here than there.
moron. I was never on codex to beging with. That's why unlike you i don't try to twist a list that has genuinely good games on it as something bad. Fricking moron.
expected
Why did the janny autosage the first thread but leave this one up? Did codexers get asshurt and report it?
I'm seriously confused as to why this happened
So which is your favorite merc and why is it Steroid?
BAD GUYS!
MY SKIN IS PUNCTURED AND LEAKING
What about Fox? She's funny as frick. Having her and Wolf banter was highly entertaining.
up there: barry, blood, raven, scully
all of them are extremely efficient with decent personalities.
Or rather; your own merc is pretty much shoehorned into taking LDR and covering EXP and MEC with barry and livewire covers all your bases. I guess there could be more options for a really high MED too, since now M.D. is the obvious choice for that.
I wanna see my man Trevor in ja3.
Boy Codex really wants to force their shitty mistake.
Codextards be like

Picking Jagged Alliance 3 as best is such a contrarian opinion it might as well be a /vrpg/ hot take
Take out the usernames, and codex devolves into /vrpg/
I personally really disliked bg3, but yeah, this is a pretty deranged thing to do.
I like both JA3 and BG3. Don't really care as long as it isn't trash like Lies of P winning GOTY.
