RPG Maker community turned into a coomer/earthbound/horror moronic club. Anything different is instantly ignored.

I think I played that for a while, if it's the one I'm thinking of it's nowhere near top tier RPG Maker quality

I bought MZ and 2k on steam. I had already bought 2k3, MV and XP in the past, well my main project is being made in MV but I thought I'd take a break from it or else I'll feel like I'll just burn myself up. So I thought I would make a RPG with standard assets with older RPGmaker versions and try to reduce the scope to be able to make a finished game.

If players aren't supposed to be able to traverse the single column strips of ocean near the edges of the map, just cover them with mountains or something

I'd have bought Fall In Labyrinth if I haven't already pirated and beaten it when it released in Japanese. Can recommend it as a good game, can't say anything about the translation though. The store page conveniently omits the the girls are your slaves however. Sex slaves at it.
The 1st game from that dev (Gate of Windnest, untranslated, not on Steam) only gives you 1 slave but you can do worse things to her, and even worse things to others' (runaway) sex slaves.
Also, chinks put some garbage on it which prevents extraction of files which doesn't exist on JP ver. Get that one if you want to rip BGM/CG from the game or such.

      >Fall In Labyrinth
Played and loved it. Can you recommend anything similar? Preferably male MC, especially if H-game.

Fall In Labyrinth is basically a bigger and better Gate of Windnest, except GoW is not translated and even with MTL tools like Textractor you'll miss a lot of story and dialogue.
Love Love! My Buddy is probably the closest to this among the fan-translated ones, but it's heavily focused on MILF (F for 50) if not granny porn. If you can deal with that (try to), the game itself is very good mini-Skyrim made in RPGM. Ignore the original LLMB, as it's wholly included in the expanded LLMB:X
Pronant Symphony has similar themes and great art, but you'll have to treat your slaves like holy maidens for the entire game or you won't get the true end.
I think EDEN RJ214112 is translated too. No slavery, nice art, very kinky, somewhat open-worldly.
Sister Travel is nice. Hot Spring Hero is on Steam, but it's different from everything above. Life Is Paradise is similar to it but much more complicated.
Then there are usual suspects: Black Souls series, Sequel series and so on, see

        [...]

        - and if you still want more, there's a sea of (mostly untranslated) RPG Maker shit that

        [...]

        dives in.
Otaku Plan and Kagura Games publish translated doujin games on Steam, you can check out their catalogs too. F95zone and ULMF have fan/machine-translated games, most of them shitty or very shitty though.
(also, some of these games are made in WolfRPG, not RPG Maker)

Demon King Chronicle is outstanding and it's free. The official English download went down but I'll try to remember to post a link when I get home tonight.
      Helen mentioned here

      https://store.steampowered.com/app/418190/Helens_Mysterious_Castle/

is also an extremely good game, moreso for its unique combat system than its exploration, I think.

RPG Maker "devs" ITT, do you draw your own art and/or make your own music?

      Anonymous

each area for my game i outsource music from a different artist or make my own
i draw the art myself with pixel art program
      for portraits i commission art
i budget only a bit of my money each month to this, but development is pretty slow and steady

I make my own music, but I have been making my own music for years and got multiple albums online. Im teaching myself sprite art right now, its a weird process and its going ok.

Is it alright to put a price on your game after you put it out for free if it turns out to be a success?

      Anonymous

I know plenty of games like that where the original free version remains free, and a paid remake is released afterwards. The Witch's House is a good example of this.

I wanna make a game, should I get MV or MZ?
I wanna make an rpg based on Pocoyo with cute graphics

      Anonymous

MV is cheaper, more feature-rich and has better custom script support so there's basically no reason to get MZ as a total novice
