It's a shame we can't get good games like Darklands anymore. There's the tech to make amazing games these days. Too bad it's all wasted on troony movie simulators.
What do you mean? We got Pentiment, a historical RPG designed to teach bigoted Europeans how diverse and accepting they should be and that being an artist is really really hard guys.
Nah,Gothic 1 was fine.G3 tried to be far bigger that it should have been. The map should have been half the size and they should have focused on Myrtana and the north.
You first.

>is this just apologetics for bad games?
the game can be either good or bad
So, a game that runs poorly and is half-baked?
Morrowind. It was many, many years before computers were powerful enough to run it well.
I don't know that 2 or 3 is "many".
Definitely more than that.
Darklands isn't really overscoped for what it does, the dungeon crawling just really fricking sucks
Morrowind and Warband. As for non-RPGs but with fantasy art direction, Sacred 2 and Severance: Blade of Darkness.
