These are all world ending scenarios. Is under rail good?
's Gate II
A purely personal affair, you save a small elven city literally by accident.
>Icewind Dale
Securing the region from a demonic invasion.
>Icewind Dale II
Securing the region from a mongrel invasion.
>Neverwinter Nights 2
Securing a city from an undead.
>Pillars of Eternity
If the player never intervened, the Hollowborn Crisis was about to end either way, since they gathered enough souls for their goddess.
Nights 2 >Securing a city from an undead.
The antagonist is pretty bad news. If not stopped, not just Neverwinter would be fricked but many others. I doubt that the entirety of Faerun would be depopulated but it wouldn't be pretty.

Still, none of these are "world ending scenarios".
The Shadow Weave thing is definitely up in that tier. It might not have quite enough steam to end all life on the continent but it's in the top dog league.
Thought you might be right about VtM:B at first but if the cabbie really is Caine then it's probably Gehenna already i.e. you're already in the end times, just the very start of it and on a slow burn. There are even thin-bloods abound.
Still, none of these are "world ending scenarios".
They likely were talking more along the lines of "chosen one saves the world (as they know it)". Not necessarily that the chosen one prevents some planet wide disaster that would kill everyone living on it. Personally I'd like more RPGs as well, where I'm just some every day chump going on an adventure, without there being some grand scale epic threat you personally need to deal with. If you're going to be put in the spot light, it should feel earned at least, instead of just being handed to you because you are the main character.
Some Etrian games, Pokemon gen 1.and 2. Most Rune Factory games are local issues rather than global.
You can also mod Skyrim to not have the main quest + stuff to make being a mercenary harder and more fun.
In Arcanum you get the option to choose godhood at the the end(three different kinds), though I'm a bit unclear on whether you become an actual deity or you're simply worshiped as one (like Nasrudiin).
>He also dies instantly if he's moronic enough to challenge Mystra for her domain so there's that
Shoulda left that to Helm, he knows how to put her in her place.
Cahara god of freedom is the best Fear and Hunger god.
Every other incarnation to godhood is downright shitty >Almer= tyrant genocide route Jesus Christ >Girl = Becomes a god of mercy and cruelty >Sulfur god= literally Satan >Francois = rapist gold obssesed french-spaniard >The tormented one = masochistic bard >Nilvan= a fricking prostitute >Valtiel= a fricking pedo >Nosramus= nobody cares >Nash'arh= doesnt have a penis, technically making him a homosexual wizard who is always angry due to the lack of penis >The hearthless one: egirl reference >Enki = Literally a homosexualy edgy nerd with a piece of pottery stuck on his head writing encyclopedias with human skin. >Ravagrdil = becomes an edgy furry >D'arcy = becomes a fendom cenobyte >Legarde= becomes the gayest Hitler ever >Gro'goroth= discount Khorne, very dead >Rher= battle royale obssesed homosexual, also dead >Sylvian= god of Queen Bee easter animated adaptations and futa enthusiast, also very dead >God of the depths = literally Luke, gaping gay, ew >Vinushka= product of rape, possibly vegan
I prefer to kill them.

Dragon's Dogma
Honorable mention: The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
Will I ever get a role playing game where I’m just some merc adventurer and not the chosen one trying to stop a world ending force?

>Is under rail good?
no, you picked the worst one on the list
Too bad. Seems like a neat game. The character customization seems pretty jank but a good jank.
>The character customization seems pretty jank but a good jank.
its not and its a lot more samey than people pretend it is
's Gate I
You prevent a war between two nations.

Have you even played those games?

In VtM:B the PC is backed (supernaturally buffed) by some interested party. Just the blood pool alone is wrong for a 13th generation character.
Still, none of these are "world ending scenarios".

>ctrl+f Wizardry 8

Baldur's Gate 3 it is then.
The Age of Decadence
He fricks goddess of magic, you can't keep him dead and he also can become god himself? Gee, Gale really is a DMPC, isn't he?
Unless you play Dark Urge and cut his hand off in the first encounter, dooming him back into the portal.
Can't you just tell him to frick off and don't take him into party? I didn't play bg3.
Dunno, never tried. Can just ignore him. Failing the strength check to pull him out also dooms him.
You actually can.
I usually interact with him trying to escape the portal just to tell him to frick off lol.
He also dies instantly if he's moronic enough to challenge Mystra for her domain so there's that
>He also dies instantly if he's moronic enough to challenge Mystra for her domain so there's that
Shoulda left that to Helm, he knows how to put her in her place.
He has a nuke in his chest that's just a free win button if you didn't prepare enough for the end fight aswell.

>Valtiel= a fricking pedo
>Nosramus= nobody cares
>Nash'arh= doesnt have a penis, technically making him a homosexual wizard who is always angry due to the lack of penis
>The hearthless one: egirl reference
>Enki = Literally a homosexualy edgy nerd with a piece of pottery stuck on his head writing encyclopedias with human skin.
>Ravagrdil = becomes an edgy furry
>D'arcy = becomes a fendom cenobyte
>Legarde= becomes the gayest Hitler ever
>Gro'goroth= discount Khorne, very dead
>Rher= battle royale obssesed homosexual, also dead
>Sylvian= god of Queen Bee easter animated adaptations and futa enthusiast, also very dead
>God of the depths = literally Luke, gaping gay, ew

Lands of Lore 2 evil ending
good times, it's always nice when sons fulfill their mothers' wishes
I am glad Larian made this an option and didn't just stick with the 'he gets killed by Mystra' ending if he decides to ascend.
Gale beats brain
Mystra beats Gale
Helm beats Mystra
