Isn't it mediocre as shit? Also They are billions was not that long ago and AoE 4 is good. Not as good as 2 but still a good game.
AoE4 is a pretty good example of why RTS is dead. A good one comes around and all people do is complain that it isn't better than an older one.
Sure, it's not like 4 is competing directly with 2, which has an established player base and had a recent updates and is still growing besides being a better and more refined game.
4 could go for another period or having a differentiating feature but it's 2 in 3D but worse. They want to play it so safe they ended shooting themselves in the feet. If 4 was a massive flop I wouldn't be surprised.
Aoe4 sucks fricking ass. How come devs have forgotten how much zoom is appropriate for an rts game?? I don't want to fricking look at an ants' ass-hair while playing a game, bro!
there are no skirmish missions in this one
SP only
nothing else
far from best
But the campaign good, the mechanics are fun and it's well designed.
looks like CoH
It does have many similar mechanics.
I dont dispute that.
Just skirmishes and custom map editor would have made that game an actual amazing RTS.
I think they had limited resources to work with, so at least they've focused those to make something good instead of trying to make everything and not having enough to do it properly.
Also the whole point of Starship Troopers was to show what an awful existence this fascist state utopia could be and people glorifying it in order to make video games is just kinda sad.
>people glorifying it in order to make video games is just kinda sad.
They are showing it in the same way the movie does, if you miss the point and think it's glorifying it, it's you fault for being a brainlet.
They have a mission where you have to capture a prisoner and escort him to safety, just so they can execute him on llive TV, there is a mission where your troops are left behind to die, the game mechanics also show how disposable the infantryman is.
i liked the books though
Actually no, the book totally supports it and the film is such a shitty ebin subversion that people still like it. Funny, eh?
We see this "awful existence" and it looks great. Maybe fascism is a good idea.
Facism is bad
having your brain sucked by a giant fat bug while you are still alive is WAY WAY worse
starship trooper is a concept about how comunism is worse than facism
I never read the books or watched the movie
What's the deal with the bugs?
I thought they were just chilling on their desert shithole planet and marines came and kicked the door down
the ~~*bugs*~~ were actualy controling the "governament"
you know the "its afraid" scene in the first movie
it was all part of his master plan in order to infiltrate humanity and ruin it them from inside
Rise of consoles killed it as pc became a lower % of the overall market. They still are going but nothing compared to what it was in the 90s
They didn't add coop to it, did they?
So is it campaign only?
Does it have procedural missions, editor or something like that?
Campaign + some challenge missions.
So its a bit like a mix between command and conquer generals and starcraft?
It's more like a Dawn of war 2 campaign in the Starship Troopers universe.
Is it fun?
>claims its RTS
>is actually RTT
have a nice day and take your Company of Heroes style chinkshit with you
RTTs are generally better than RTS, specially in single player.
>gets released
>its actually good
>nobody gives a frick
I never really liked the game tbh, it felt like a generic RTS on top of a generic RPG, what is this one like?
exactly what you described but more refined
ITS A GOOD SAY TO DIE
WHEN YOU KNOW THE REASONS WHY
CITIZENS WE FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT
A NOBLE SACRIFICE
WHEN DUTY CALLS WE PAY THE PRICE
FOR THE FEDERATION I WILL GIVE MY LIFE
RTS is Dawn of War 1 and RTT is Dawn of War 2?
Men of war is RTT, RTS is Age of empires.
Dawn of war and CoH are weird hybrids.
games are expensive to make and its expected that you go after the casual players to get the money back but RTS for a casual looks extremely hard and not fun
how I would fix it
>stop catering to the hardcore playerbase because they already have better games to play like AoE and you will not do better than that
>make the world not about demons, Sci-Fi or high fantasy
>sacrifice graphics and atmosphere for simple maps that can be easily understood but hard to master
Its better to let this genre sleep than make it casual bait anyway. But if you want to revive the genre you will have to sell yourself.
>make the world not about demons, Sci-Fi or high fantasy
WW 2? It's the only other setting that sells anything.
In the modern world if you want sales without a budget you make weeb shit
I'd buy that.
No, WW too is not inviting enough to the casual player. You would need a very colorful low fantasy with interesting art so you could bait players because they like the art style and then train them in single missions like W3
I want to believe
>furshit
talk about monkey paw
>tfw into ratgirls and want them in more games but not that into RTT
monkey paw always wins
Modern rts games suck ass, the setting looks fricking stupid and the games, as a whole, look fricking boring and mediocre.
>no mention of asiatic clicking yet
I'm impressed v
