Because 1440p and 4k will look better but as long as you don't think about it it doesn't really matter. Also if you like smaller screens 1080p is the way to go. Just throw in some DSR + DLSS when playing those smudgy TAA games and you're good to go.

Why would silicon and copper break due to use? Unless it's undergoing extreme repeated heat stress from being turned on and off I don't see how it could break. You could probably count on one hand the number of times that a mining card dips below 80% in its lifetime. I'm playing 120+ fps on 2070S right now, but everything I'm interested in this year is fps locked to 60 - that is Street Fighter 6. Works fine, no reason to upgrade yet for me.

LHR are newer models, made to suck at mining but safeguard was cracked this reduces the risk, not all cards had LHR versions. If the seller can show you date of purchase and it's dated after crypto-crash you are safe.
So its a $400-$500 gamble then. Why even risk it when you can get a new 4070 for just above that price range? Even if you discount the reduced lifespan of mining cards as just a meme I'd rather not take the chance of giving that money to a miner for sloppy seconds

Many of these high end GPU owners are actually playing at sub 1080p via DLSS. DLSS Quality at 1440p is internally 960p, somehow Jensen Huang cucked gamers into believing that playing at lower resolutions was better just by labeling it "quality."

I bought an RTX 2060 three years ago and don't see myself buying a new GPU for at least another five or six years. It plays new stuff at 1440p and 120fps (where available) very competently.

My 3080 10 GB runs every game just fine though? And yes, I HAVE played Raytraced 1440p Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, and Wo Long on it. All games that low and mid end pcs struggle to run on Ultra settings at 1440p.
I can also make AI art on my 3080 just fine.
So I literally don't see why I'd need more VRAM.
Starfield will run on my 1060 6gb with HDD
