Balancing is not just "buffs" and "nerfs" and game design as a whole is lost on a lot of people. Sometimes devs do get it wrong but even more armchair devs who think they know are wrong 99% of the time.
The only response is stop being a gay OP and sitting up this board with bait that provides no real discussion.
if you've ever complained about nerfs and said "just buff the other things" im sorry, youre a drooling moron. you have to accept this now and keep your moron thoughts to yourself.
this is why i dont play fighting games your telling me its a genre about 1v1's and you STILL cant get balance right?you guys actually sat there the whole of sf3 life and dealt with chun shenanigans and called it skill?nah im good
No, it's toxic little trannies and soys migrating from dead/dying shit to fighters along with the entitlement and b***hmade behavior they got from mobas and fps garbage.
We should have gate kept the homosexuals.
People can stop playing a game if their favorite character gets nerfed.
When Blizzard wants to make changes to a character in Overwatch, for example, they will make them stupidly OP and then a few weeks later reel them back because even people that love the character will recognize they're too strong. People are much more amicable to this than just having their character made weaker when the strength difference is very slight. It removes the grey area.
>buff players >add harder difficulty to compensate >buff players to compensate >add harder difficulty compensate >buff players to compensate
Yeah and now the game is an absolute shitshow of an unbalanced mess
There's a whole industry of bad takes from armchair game designers. They have no idea why what they are asking for is unfun and detrimental to the game. When these people corrupt a community and antagonize the devs it becomes fatal. Either the devs ban them and appear like they can't take criticism or the armchair devs in the community kick up more shit until the devs give in and kill their game. See the morons like preach, asmongold and Bellular that ruined WoW by demanding Dragonflight. Getting exactly what they demanded and being fricking shocked it's a bomb.
This kind of stuff is common in every industry. Someone does a study which probably had a fairly small sample size, they see a 2% increase in reported happiness and this becomes the industry norm. It can't be criticized. This happened in the food industry where they said salt increases your blood pressure and eggs are unhealthy with too many trans fats. It turned out to be the opposite of the truth. In the long term salt and eggs are good for you. It happened in the fitness industry with stuff like lactic acid being blames for getting tired, that if you want to get better results you need to reduce lactic acid and shit like that. Few years ago they discovered that lactic acid is just used as fuel and it's good that it's there and helps performance and recovery.
These game devs have studies they reference that show higher satisfaction when players see buffs compared to seeing nerfs. These are short term studies that don't take the long term effects into consideration. They're not studies that show if this design philosophy will lead to a better more successful company or dead games and bankrupt developers. They're only considering the short term dopamine boost.
You're missing the forest for the trees. You can commission a study that proves whatever you want. And the problem is not the pursuit of short-term profit, but that they're running on confirmation bias.
>allows new experimentation with every patch >stops shitters from relying on a crutch for years >rewards adaptation and learning >mindbreaks autists who can only use a single playstyle
yeah i'm thinking balance patches are based
Pure zoners don't belong in fighting games. Dhalsim is the only good one but his presence inevitably leads to >What if we had a zoner who was *almost* as good as Sim but also had excellent mid range normal pressure, set ups, and escape tools?!
>do a nerf >worst case scenario: the nerf was too much and no one uses the thing you nerfed >do a buff >worst case scenario: the buff was too much and it breaks the fricking game
Nerfing is simply smarter.
No amounts of tweaks, buffs, nerfs, reworks, modifications, expansions, etc. can fix a game that is fundamentally broken on the architectural/design level.
Look at Sonic the Hedgehog, his game is broken on the fundamental level. Turns out high speed and freedom don't mix when combined in software form. It leads to all kinds of buggy broken shit that makes your franchise flop. You need an entirely different game design to fix architecture problems, not just tweak a number.
Overwatch 1 was broken as shit. What did they need to do? Make the bullshit balance a separate mode. That's it. I can play full support teams on this mode, and use their homosexual balance on a seperate mode. Not delete it forever and alienate their fanbase. Street Fighter 3 was fricking moronic too. Could they have fixed it? Hell no. What did they do about it? Added more bullshit to make a profit, then released Street Fighter 4, which had an entirely different (better) architecture than SF3.
Stop punishing good players. Stop rewarding bad players. Tweaking numbers is just shuffling the meta over to the next best thing. Make the game "revolve" around what players actually like to do.
Yeah I don't make a living playing a fighting game so I don't really care about muh balance
We have the same character select screen at the end of the day
This philosophy is pure cancer. What it leads to is constant power creep, all because some psychology studies said that people are happier to get something than lose something (WOW, great study dude)
These moronic devs prioritize short term dopamine over the long term health of the game. Yes, if you nerf something you will upset the people who used the nerfed abilities. Yes, a few players may leave because of it. So what? Suck it up. If you frick up your game in the long term you will lose tens/hundreds of thousands of players.
This kind of behavior is cancerous. Instead of looking at the big picture they are trying to optimize small percentages and minmax their profits. Whenever a company starts engaging in this kind of behavior, it's downhill for the company. Instead of trying to earn a dollar they're looking under the couch for pennies.
Abilities and characters should be buffed and nerfed when appropriate to match the power level that is fun.
Using GG Strive as the example. Is it really possible to buff every character to be as good as Happy Chaos without nerfing HC in the process? His gameplan is inherently ducking and dodging the rules of the actual game itself to hit you from wherever, whenever.
How are you going to buff Sol or Ky to make that fair?
Strive already IS the example, HC and shit like nago have been at the front and center since fricking release, endlessly.
Instead of just nerfing these moronic characters they do a weird buff/small nerf mix to them and then very slightly buff the rest, which doesn't change anything and might even make the gap worse.
Dota is a shell of its former self that has gone to shit and been casualized to hell and back, it's never been the same after TI4 and has been perpetually slowly dying off as a result.
Meanwhile patches are a mess, they happen once a year and the game gets figured out in a month or two no matter how big the patch is so now you gotta deal with complete ass cancer for 8+ months.
If anything Dota is a prime example of how fricked this like of thinking is.
gg ez

(also, any israelitetube channels as based as core A?
Frozen Amphibian is the only competent dev left in the world
this whole mentality ruined GG Strive and is bound to ruin SF6
it's a silly mindset perpetuated by people who have never played a truly terrible kusoge
if you've ever complained about nerfs and said "just buff the other things" im sorry, youre a drooling moron. you have to accept this now and keep your moron thoughts to yourself.
Just bring everything up to a point and then hammer down whatever you don't like to that level.
>ruins
>in your path
>how do you respond
Can zoomers communicate without meme formats? Are they capable of forming actual sentences?
Oh no no no gemsisters, it's over though.
>classic 4ching slang dating back to decades ago

uhmmm newhomosexual how do you respond??

Come in too strong and then negotiate back to the actual point you wanted, sales 101 and dumb gaymers fall for it everytime like the cattle they are

No nerfs allowed, chud.
Pure zoners don't belong in fighting games. Dhalsim is the only good one but his presence inevitably leads to

"balance patches" is code for "we made X OP to sell more DLC/skins"

Okay larper.

It's an endless power creep.
I don't give a FRICK about balance
You will when all games are NO ITEMS FOX ONLY FINAL DESTINATION
I might agree with the posters ITT if dota hadn;t proven that it can work.
>it can work
Just because there's a right way to do something doesn't mean that's the way it will happen.

I agree with dictator man. Less thinking, more brainwashing.
Using SF3 Chun Li as the image was k8nd of dumb OP, since SF3 Chun Li is objectively unbalanced and busted
