reach was the last good halo game. Infinite had potential but it was squandered. Halo 4 and 5 never should have been released

I don't know, I think they were perfect for the story it was trying to tell. This odst squad isn't the chief, they're not going to majorly impact the war and not everything needs massive stakes trying to save the world
not the low stakes per se, but not playing through the full invasion from first contact with covenant scouts to all out war and UNSC loss of the planet

reach itself is nothingburger when it comes to actual stakes. halo 3 wasn't about invading the earth, it was about the ark and activating all halos to destroy life.

Halo 2 does have some really good dialogue and expanded the scope of the series a lot. Seeing the Covenant side of the story was great.
Unrelated, but I really missed Michael Wincott in Halo 3. Not sure why he wasn’t brought back or why he didn’t want to be apart of the 3rd game.

Ugh no. Also, making them speak English was an immersion killer. The covenant levels have grown on me since I've played through Halo 2 so often, but they were a total buzzkill originally. You just wanted to play as Master Chief and you just wanted to mow down some covies attacking the Earth. That is what Halo 2 should have been. Covenant attacks Earth and you must repel them. That is how the damn game was advertized as well.

The controls are suppressed and your ability to control chief is hampered greatly, so no, he is not lying. Also, yes, it was garbage, and it was annoying.
2 ruined itself by being too ambitious, the whole existence of halo 3 was caused by cutting a lot of things from halo 2. and i don't disagree that halo 2 had a better story but 3 was a fine sequel that improved and innovated upon the second game from a gameplay perspective.
