the end is fine, though a sky dimension wouldve been better. the ender dragon would've been a lot harder pre-adventure update with the old hunger system. now i kinda wanna see how that would play out.
My theory is that the sky dimension would bring the red dragon instead of the ender dragon. The end feels like the sky dimension but it got destroyed a long time ago.
I don't know how Minecraft would evolve if Notch was still in Mojang. Maybe he would abandon the game and move on to something new.
There would probably be a lot more stuff and a lot less homosexual decisions like adding animals which do nothing. He just added shit that he thought was cool and would fit in well. He probably would have stopped caring after a while though and either just paid other people to do all the shit or just completely left it for modders.

Hammers would be nice.
Maybe they would take two hands, so you can't use them with a shield and they have a long cooldown but high damage and knockback, so you can knock enemies off structures and let fall damage do the rest and they stun blocking enemies for a short time.
They can also be used for woodcutting and mining, but are weaker than the specialized tools for that.

1.7.3 is when the focus shifted from exploration to having exploration turn into a chore. The mentally moronic fanbase also voted the worst mob into the game again for the 4th time in a row. Minecraft isn’t what it used to be.
I don't know if hunger adds to immersion because you need to buyforage food, do some more inventory management and plan your adventures or if it's just a boring chore and unnessesary realism.
>I don't know if hunger adds to immersion because you need to buyforage food, do some more inventory management and plan your adventures or if it's just a boring chore and unnessesary realism.
I don't see why it couldn't be both and depend on your point of view or what you want out of vidya. A lot of people dislike the hunger mechanic, but on the other hand you have people making and playing games like Vintage Story which make survival MUCH more involved.
I usually find it to be a boring chore in most games. Normally it's never difficult to find food, it doesn't take up that much inventory space and it doesn't feel like it adds anything. Especially in Minecraft, it doesn't take long to have even something simple like just a massive wheat farm. You don't even need to automate it, if you really can't be fricked you can just go to a village and steal all the bales. Having one full stack of bread will be enough food for fricking ages and you can always find more food while you're adventuring to prolong it. It just wastes time because you have to stop and listen to munch munch munch munch for a second before you carry on.
It's fine when it's a serious core mechanic like in don't starve. Most games just make it pathetic and annoying.
Back in B 1.8 it was bad but then it got improved by a later version to give you a health boost when you have full hunger. Also potions exist now that heal you instantly.
Personally on my small server I saw people stop exploring immediately after hunger was added. People used to go off in random directions right away but they played much much more conservatively post hunger, preferring to hunker down near the start.
I think hunger is fine but it was tuned wrong and you starved way too fast, back then at least.
Requiring sleep though, that's a really bad mechanic.
>Requiring sleep
This is the worst thing they could have added. All it has ever done is make multiplayer with friends significantly more annoying. One guy will be off exploring the nether, one mining, one building for fun, one adventuring for villages and shit and one afk. So you're always constantly bombarded by those shitty flying c**ts because there's never a point where everyone can sleep especially without fricking everything up and moving their spawn point to bumfrick nowhere.
THIS
Ganker was driving him towards making an First Person 3D Dorf Fortress.
Once Reddit took over on the ideas it was over.
I remember Minecraft in 2011 when it was still full of mystery. The underground was solid and not full of worm tunnels. Caves were rare, and when digging under your house you randomly heard zombies and skeletons which made you think you were gonna pop a hole into a room full of violent mobs that were gonna swarm and murder you. There was also the possibility of the rumor in the future that night time could randomly spawn a zombie apocalypse and your wooden doors would be broken down by a zombie making your home less of a safe haven as you thought it would be, which drove you down into the underground at night.
But for me, yeah. Hunger was the worst. I could imagine it being good for a system where the hungrier your are, the less energy you have for tasks. Where if you're starving, you're not doing anything but walking slowly. I mean empty bar starving. Not this shit where you need a full bar to recover health and if it drops by .5 you stop recovering. So if you run into a sticky situation you're fricked. Stupid. Or "Uh oh, I fell one to many blocks, now I gotta sit here and massage my booboos for 3 minutes"
Holy fricking shit you're an idiot. No, Ganker was spamming him with useless ideas guy shit while reddit helped him make $2.5b. Link me one thing you created. You didn't do SHIT to help create minecraft lmfao
Obsidian's currently in some kind of creepy limbo where it's not quite part of the game yet.
I've moved gravel up so there's surface gravel now, and I was considering having that and iron be the recipe for flint and steel after you don't need it to make smelt iron.
Perhaps mining a gravel block should have a certain odds of producing a flint item instead? You could use it for flint and steel, and for making arrows.

I've just been puzzled over the idea of obtaining Obsidian and similiar items, for flint knapping and tool making and such. I wanted to know what you had in mind, mainly because I of course like everyone else who plays minecraft has suggestions, and was wondering to what extent you were implimenting obsidian into the game.
My suggestions are just gravel on the sides of rivers and water, not just underneath, which you can break with a chance of finding obsidian or something. I also like the idea of limestone or sandstone deposits, as they make clay accessable and at the same time open up the possibility of flint and quartz deposits. I made a suggestion thread http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7484
If not something along the lines of this, what do you have in mind? I'm extremely curious, as I'm a real-life flint knapper and have been looking forward to obsidian's implimentation for a long time =]
it's not so much the hunger bar as it is the shitty healing system attached to it >oh what's that you have HALF a shank missing? you barely heal at all. Oh, one and a half shanks missing? NO HEALING, AT ALL.
What's the point of eating food that fills lots of shanks when your healing stops at 85% hunger?
hunger isn't the problem, its the healing associated with it and saturation in general.
Exploration, the thing that was nerfed the most with food changes, was never rewarding. This isn't terraria, there's nothing really to find.
Honestly I don't mind hunger as it was back in 1.12.2 which is one of the versions I still play the most, but back in 1.7.10 it was borked, drained too fast.
Beta 1.7.3. is peak troonycore SAgoon-slop that insists on itself. Beta 1.8 was when Minecraft actually became a game with RPG elements and dynamic systems. >But... my crazy world generation!
Not immersive. Also laggy and a b***h to build.
Instead of having to eat a whole pig every 5 minutes of sprinting, make it so a character requires one meal a day.
Meals can consist of as little as one apple, but by combining multiple food types (such as steak, apple, bread and cookie) you get additional bonuses that last the whole day.
As for healing I would put more emphasis on alchemy for immediate recovery, but no natural healing (outside of maybe sleeping and certain meal additions) might be just an annoyance.

What do you want from the game?
useful blocks, like what we got in 1.5. Not fricking dog armor and a slightly different shade of wood found in a slightly different biome where some moronic obscure mob drops some item needed to craft some mcguffin. Everything after 1.5 feels gimmicky and useless.

Or how about you don't engage in apologetics for a hunger system because mojang were moronic and thought Don't Starve was going to destroy minecraft.
When it was a fricking Chrome application Demo.
I don't get this, before the hunger update food stacked into one per stack, and you would eat it and instantly have so many hearts restored. Then they changed it so that food now restores the hunger bar instead. If you want instant health, just make potions of health! It's the same as how food worked before the update, it's just more end game than early game. Only stacks to one, just like before.

why is this the biggest game of all time again?
i played it again recently and it fricking sucked and was boring >inb4 no imagination
>If a Minecraft 2.0 ever happens. It will cost money to upgrade it.
It's not even hard now, Activision has proven that you can release literally the same game again, call it 2 and charge money a second time while locking you out of the old one.
They forgot to update the Nether Fortress. That's all what bothers me. At least there is something in the Nether now and not a waste space.
My bigger complaint is: What were they thinking with froglight farming? You need to feed an alive magma cube to the frog instead of their slime balls.
i was cool with it because the nether fortress was basically the only place with actual substance before this update
my bigger complaint is that the basalts are borderline useless. There could be some chests hidden in the lava pits
>why is this the biggest game of all time again?
it's a vehicle for buying skins and spending money on player-made game modes.
minecraft and fortnite both get their popularity from kids that absolutely do not play the main modes
The chat bot auto-ban update was where I stopped with Minecraft and refuse to go back. I could mod out, or just use commands to remove shit I don't like. But I'm not going to get banned from a private server because I said "Night"
they should add a thirst bar, and a sleepy bar, and a pee pee and poo poo bar too
and a sadness bar, and a meloncholy bar for when sad makes you happy.
sounds great
they should also constantly talk about content that's not making it in the next patch, but DEFINITELY the one after that, and release a patch once every year or so
But tying healing health to hunger like this was a bullshit alternative. Hunger should have only been tied to stuff like using tools/weapons effective and running speed. There should have been a ready supply of healing items of all tiers to replace eating food to recover.
Instead we get the worst of both worlds.
Every time I've tried booting up this game in the last 5 years or so I just get exhausted by the amount of inventory management. There are so many useless fricking blocks.
I had played since the browser version at that point, and that is what had made me permanently quit the game

1.21 combat will ruin the game even more. 😉
I'd like to see Mojang try to do at least something about the combat. If they ruin it further, I'll always have 1.18.
1.18 or 1.19 would be a pretty good place to pump some mods in.
Playing it right now and it really feels good. Would be pretty fun if they manage to bring the good stuff into this version.

The people making these game don't think anymore.
glad i'm not the only one.
>oh shit a skeleton
has been replaced with
>oh shit look a narrow gap between the monsters, how fortunate
even on easy mode
The piston update was the final consecutive good update. Beta 1.7 or something.
After that things went downhill fast.
I need your assistance Ganker.
Tell me what this block is or your mom will die in her sleep. Wrong answers only.
Easy, that's Jackie Chan
stupid homosexual it's TToTT
Correct. It really was the dicky block.
Dilute Gunpowder
One of the intermediate materials to do chemistry with
thats not combat
>Update Aquatic
>they finally do something with water
>actual modeled fish and underwater growth
>but also zombies
>daytime zombies
>always fricking zombies
>now you have zombies coming out of the water at you even during the day
Who the frick thought this was a good idea?
one time I built a house on the shore and they would come out of the water constantly, and if you jump in to clean them out half the time there'll be a trident one who will take chunks out of your health. They're annoying as hell and not enough people complain about them
Oh god. The trident ones.
>be out on shoreline looking for clay or just walking across my bridge to the other side of my base to tend to my crops
>get sniped by some trident-chucking deadBlack person
THANKS NOT-NOTCH
>new hyped minecraft update
>either adds one moronic mob that doesnt do anything
or
>"big" update like this, but they always manage to completely frick it up with something that only makes you wonder why they thought it was a good idea
why is this the biggest game of all time again?
i played it again recently and it fricking sucked and was boring
>inb4 no imagination
They will just use this as an excuse for releasing updates as dlc. If a Minecraft 2.0 ever happens. It will cost money to upgrade it.
>If a Minecraft 2.0 ever happens. It will cost money to upgrade it.
It's not even hard now, Activision has proven that you can release literally the same game again, call it 2 and charge money a second time while locking you out of the old one.
what was wrong with the nether update?
But I'm not going to get banned from a private server because I said "Night"
they should add a thirst bar, and a sleepy bar, and a pee pee and poo poo bar too
and a sadness bar, and a meloncholy bar for when sad makes you happy.
there could be so many bars!
sounds great
they should also constantly talk about content that's not making it in the next patch, but DEFINITELY the one after that, and release a patch once every year or so
oh wait we described project zomboid
they should add a half finished version of those which they then abandon and leave in the game for 10 years
Having non stackable foor directly replenish your health bar was lazy and it wasn't supposed to stay there forever.
But tying healing health to hunger like this was a bullshit alternative. Hunger should have only been tied to stuff like using tools/weapons effective and running speed. There should have been a ready supply of healing items of all tiers to replace eating food to recover.
Instead we get the worst of both worlds.
Stop whining and just bring a stack of food with you, it’s not that hard
don't care im playing gregtech new horizons
minecraft will never ever have this much soul again
oozing sovl all over
>combat update has been in java for years and years
>still not in bedrock
anyone that thinks it's not getting removed is delusional
Every time I've tried booting up this game in the last 5 years or so I just get exhausted by the amount of inventory management. There are so many useless fricking blocks.
I had played since the browser version at that point, and that is what had made me permanently quit the game
think it was a haloween update or something
I knew the game would be going to shit and I've been proven right with every update since
halloween update was when notch checked out and realized he could do anything and have rabid fanboys defend him
>deliver on only half the promised features
>the implementation is mostly shit
I left the game when they made an update that stop boats from climbing up waterfalls.
I remember I made a whole Waterpark and as soon as I was done, the update ruined it.
I don't even remember how many years ago it was.
just mod it
forced soul
I'm just waiting for the Cobblemon mod to be fully finished
Maybe a waifu mod too but nothing else except maybe some QoL mods
what mod?
I don't understand what this is supposed to be
Phantoms are the worst addition of enemies.
i lost my minecraft email and i refuse to pay for another copy. shit ridiculous
minecraft has easily one of the worst customer supports when it comes to that shit, i seriously don't understand what those 600 fricking employees actually do.
>aggravates your autism
Is this a good mobile game?
>good
>mobile game
lol lmao
I don't even know what game it is I just found a relevant image from google
It looks interesting, but has that pay to win vibe to it.
Might try out a hacked copy and see how it goes.
I don't even care that much about minecraft but I'm pretty sure there's been worse updates than "aw man now I gotta kill some pigs to keep running/regenerating health".
>Ruins the whole game
