meta has always been a thing. you just didn't understand back then because you were a retarded baby that was just entertained by the flashing images on the screen.
It's kind of sad that the meta always changes by dev meddling. Usually blizzard style where they whack a mole things then make other things better endlessly without getting anywhere close to balancing it. I'd prefer seeing goofy shit overcoming the fotm builds or so many choices that it's different between matches. Usually it's one way or no way
>Balance is hard man.
it's absolutely not, balance require time and testing, something that apparently AAA studio that spend 6 million dollars on marketing can't afford
>I don't like competition or winning >Should I go play a casual single player game? >NO I shall enter a competitive online game then whine when people beat me
Do people who complain about "meta" strategies not realize we as humans are optimized to find the best strategy for any situation?
>optimize farming >optimize herding >optimize architecture, security >optimize food production
I could go through all of human evolution but you get the idea
This is just what we do, you will find no area of human existence where we don't try to perfect it and break it down to its component parts.
And yes, I do enjoy playing styles and strategies I enjoy the most personally instead of just being a true meta slave (I run melee in FPS games, shields in FPS games etc) but its just human nature to do what is the strongest.
This is kinda why I like TF2.
Sure the medic pocket up a sollys ass is always hard to deal with.
But it certainly isn't the meta because it can be countered with just a small amount of team work.
Meta isn't an acronym, it's shorthand for "metagame," and it's something that is literally unavoidable in anything that has more than one option. There will always be a most optimal way to play something.
I don't play MP games for the most part, but metafags in SP games are hilariously pathetic. Especially the ones who think you literally can't beat the game if you don't follow the meta. It really speaks to their skill level. I usually just play however I feel like, and sometimes I will intentionally play off-meta for the challenge.
I hate meta gaming because dumbfuck retards will learn the meta, purposely pick the most dogshit character/strategies, and then spout drivel like "My character is bad so I didn't actually lose!"
Sweatiest ruin everything. The worst is when you meet these people IRL and they try to metafag the shit out of that too. Like the troon at my job who steals my ideas and work and tries to pass it off as her(his) own.
How does this affect you? Let people enjoy things.
and how does him shitting on metafagging affect you? do you happen to feel personally called out because that's all you do in games?
>NOOO I DESERVE TO WIN!! I'M SPECIAL!! I'M THE MAIN CHARACTER!!! I TRIED AND PUT IN MINIMAL EFFORT!!! REEEEEE
>IF YOU DON'T THE EXACT SAME THING FIRST THE FIRST 20 MINUTES OF EVERY MATCH THEN YOUR JUST BAD!!1!!
well if you don't you're just gonna lose so yeah never winning means you're bad
Multiplayer is gay as fuck unless its couch coop or lan.
>sitting with another man in the couch
>not gay
>being an only child
How sad for you
meta has always been a thing. you just didn't understand back then because you were a retarded baby that was just entertained by the flashing images on the screen.
Why the fuck are you playing multiplayer games if you don't want to win? Just play sp nigga
Autism ruins a lot of things.

Well meta can't exist only if the game is perfectly balances so "how" you do it is more important than "what" you do. Balance is hard man.

It really isn't. It's literally just value changes.
God I fucking hate Blizzard doing that shit. Killed enjoyment of OW1 for me.
Just like in real life
>I don't like competition or winning
>Should I go play a casual single player game?
>NO I shall enter a competitive online game then whine when people beat me
backronyms are incredibly homosexual

>2023
>playing modern multiplayer games
I had no idea thats what meta meant

finding a meta is normal and natural
I hate meta gaming because dumbfuck retards will learn the meta, purposely pick the most dogshit character/strategies, and then spout drivel like "My character is bad so I didn't actually lose!"
Absolutely pathetic.

>all you get for slavishly following the meta a couple seconds shaved off your clear time
it's not an acronym, it's from metagaming, you dumb cunt
