Not our fault Japs are obsessed with us. Shame they can't tell the difference between the real accents and the fake ones though, at least the Americans get paid pretending to be us while not even knowing what accent they're doing.
So far in FF16 I've heard some mash of Yorkshire, Geordie, and London. It's hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
>Shame they can't tell the difference between the real accents and the fake ones though
same can be said about westerners who prefer japanese dubs. It's acting. on top of the fact that those people can't even understand the language, they legitimately don't know that japanese people do not really talk like that. they legitimately think that anime reflects real life in chink town
>Actually what's the difference? Neither of you can speak English properly
American English was always the intended dialect. The "english" accent is based on peasant speak.
From games (outside of Sekiro, but that should be played in Nip) have a fantastic range of well-acted fitting regional accents, it's actually infuriating that a Japanese company was behind it because it's leagues better than the usual shit you get out of RPG devs in America or Britain
Absurd nobody else thought of this. Why hire an overpriced californian to do the same fricking voice they always do when you could just drive around Scotland and Wales scooping pedestrians into a van? Don't stop there either. Drive to France and hire anyone who speaks English with that French accent. Want a character with a really weird accent? Continue onto Finland and other made up countries.
It's just speaking into a microphone, for any sort of performer it's trivial.
To be fair it's usually Americans doing bad accents, it sounds less bad to me when it's actually Brits.
They suck at it in reverse too, though. Christian Bale sounds weird. Only Hugh Laurie is convincing.
Brits doing American accents are far more convincing than the opposite, Brits get 80-90% of the way there, whereas Americans sound like they're doing bad impressions most of the time. Angelina Jolie in the Disney live action movie, Brad Pitt in Snatch and RDJ in Sherlock were the best I've heard and they're still stuck in the almost there "too neutral for a real person" spot most British/Australian actors doing American accents end up in. The one performance I'll give is Spinal Tap, they sounded totally convincing
It's a shame, I've always wanted a Constantine game or film where he's got a Scouse accent, but there aren't any Scouse actors that are big enough except at a push Peter Serafinowicz who was in a few Hollywood movies in recent years because I think he's friends with Chris Pratt after meeting in Parks and Recreation and then he was in Guardians of the Galaxy, then played the Tick which was a fun show.
half if not most of the characters in Xenoblade games are American and Australian (Pyra, Sena, all the enemy Blades) people just don't want any British voices at all, or maybe they do because it's one of the most popular series of all time. Only British gets people riled up for some reason, they need to make their mind up
most video games are in American if they're not set in the past, the only noteworthy series that used British for the hell of it was Xenoblade and that's the "British dub series", even though most of the voices are still American. Americans just really hate British protagonists, or maybe they love it, Brits are getting mixed messages from Americans about it and whether it's a joke or they're genuinely annoyed by British accents
I actually prefer British voice actors, but I am definitely biased because in my country, we are taught "British" English, something that dates back to the 19th century. I do prefer their accent and pronunciation over the American ones.
>American dubs >The same small whiney, anime sounding group of people, that all sound the same no matter what they are in, even if it does not fit the character or setting.
No thanks, think I will stick with the British theatre actor dubs
American accents are sometimes okay in fantasy. In Baldur's Gate you have Sarevok, Imoen and some others using American accents, and it's fine. American accents will only be a problem if the characters speak like Bill and Ted, or in an "urban" dialect.
I call that fantasy American accent you're talking about DM voice, I find it even more grating than Oblivion-esque out of place Americanadian accents because it's so artificial.
Reminder that the only reason so many Wii games have UK dubs is because Reggie was horrible at his job and refused to localize anything unless people petitioned.
That would be the English. The ones with English accents.
Fake british accents are the worst I don't know why americans do it
PHWOAR GOT A RARE DOO DAH RIGH ERE
cor, that dont half look bloody brilliant
>chorley FC
>that for £3/€3.50/$4
show me a better meal you can get for that price
god i hate football fans
Perfectly acceptable if it had less gravy.

>dubgays
I simply dont buy dub only games
You shouldnt either, let this cancer die off
moronic comparison. Cancer doesn't go away on its own.
English comes from England. Die and seethe you fricking ESL subhuman c**t. Or American subhuman c**t.
Actually what's the difference? Neither of you can speak English properly
Americans should make their Americish
>we know how to banter unlike those Americans
>OODY EL YOU CONT SAY THAT
>Actually what's the difference? Neither of you can speak English properly
American English was always the intended dialect. The "english" accent is based on peasant speak.
>y'all
Nah, everyone in Siren having British accents was hilarious and great.
Why are there never any norfern accents in British dubs?
only london exists to japan
Fromsoft hires a range of accents. Not just posh Londoner.
From games (outside of Sekiro, but that should be played in Nip) have a fantastic range of well-acted fitting regional accents, it's actually infuriating that a Japanese company was behind it because it's leagues better than the usual shit you get out of RPG devs in America or Britain
From soft realised they could just go to Wales and grab people to be fantasy characters complete with elven gibberish.
Absurd nobody else thought of this. Rex from Xenoblade 2
Cid from FF16
off the top of my head
Kristoffer was norf
do americans want to play a fantasy game where every character talks like "ay man what up bro"
Are you latinx?
That guy looks like he supports trans rights
The American accent is antithetical to the fantasy genre due it it being extremely unrefined and cringe.
The only good American accent was that presenter only one they tried to make happen, but it never took off.
I would play a fantasy game where everyone speaks with transatlantic accents like Frasier and Mr. Burns from The Simpsons
日本語学んで来たんで、もう英語で我慢しなくていいんだよね
If inbred Islanders had an accent
Oh, wait
That shit ain't half bad, innit?
And yet every notoriously horrific dub comes from America. Curious.
Real tidy thread.

is it ruined if it's the intended choice by the creators? Checked, and mated.
>improves your game
You're welcome colonials.
Welsh accents are severely underused in gaming, they're pure medieval kino
What started this bullshit? The original Demon's Souls dub?
I think it's literally just Xenoblade, English dubs are done by Americans 95% of the time
half if not most of the characters in Xenoblade games are American and Australian (Pyra, Sena, all the enemy Blades) people just don't want any British voices at all, or maybe they do because it's one of the most popular series of all time. Only British gets people riled up for some reason, they need to make their mind up
also Xenoblade Chronicles X was completely American
I don't get what point you're trying to make
most video games are in American if they're not set in the past, the only noteworthy series that used British for the hell of it was Xenoblade and that's the "British dub series", even though most of the voices are still American. >people just don't want
>I speak for everyone
Opinion discarded

It's a dub. It's already ruined by default.
Blimey we're in a bit of a pickle here mates
Someone please post that manga page with "A git like him, I don't fancy him at all!"

Oh no Americans are making English accent understandable to everyone, the horror.

Good, dubBlack folk can't be considered human anyway.
*Saves you from 70billion Microsoft/Activision predatory merger*
