It's completely fricking moronic. DI is moronic too but nore because it's a mechanic that basically exists to be obnoxious and a crutch to allow people to rob games. It also makes some characters that rely heavily on uncancellable stuff, like Ryu, a lot worse than they would otherwise be. And for what, so scrubs can get an unblockable in the corner because actually opening people up or doing invincible moves in gaps is too much? It's awful.

I don't even think it's that bad, lows aren't even designed to be reactable in SF and 17f is borderline reactable. Fireballs, jabs, Honda headbutt, Blanka ball, DI, Parry, invincible reversals can counter it.
DR is honestly the best part of the new mechanics. It makes the neutral and combo system of classic SF more dynamic and that's objectively good. The worst new mechanic is parry, it's only really useful against fireballs. Perfect parry has little risk and they balance it by scaling combos off of it, which basically means parrying isn't even that hype in this game. Perfect parry needs to be mapped to forward again with no scaling for high risk/reward.

No it isn't. Visual cues come into it as well and with visual cues roughly 20f is accepted as the average. Lows are not reactable in SF because they are used as point blank range and are almost always minus. A halfscreen fricking plus on block, comboable low is ridiculous. It's broken. Not strong but manageable, broken. Go see how an almost identical mechanic completely ruined KoFXIV because the game just became about fishing with your far normals into max mode because you were plus on block and got a mixup and got a full combo hit so who gives a frick. It ruins the game and makes neutral a total meme.
It's not a good mechanic unless you want the game to devolve into neutral skipping hyper offense shit at which point you should just be playing tag/anime games.
There is also an audio cue, which humans react to faster than visual cues. There is also the fact you are playing a DJ who you know is going to spam DR, so you should be anticipating it which will heighten your reactions. I'm not saying it shouldn't be nerfed, but DJ's DR being really good doesn't mean the whole system is bad.

Does world tour run like absolute piss for anyone else? I haven't played much of the other modes, but for WT I have to run everything at minimum settings just to keep a stable 60FPS.

There's an extensive amount of options in the training mode that give you a lot of ways to practice against the stuff you're having trouble with.
You can also watch replays of your matches and turn on things like frame data to see where you might have gone wrong. The game has tools to help you improve; if you choose not to use them, that's on you, not the game itself.

You don't know how frames work. Under perfect conditions humans can react to 16 frames. Drive impact is 26. On top of all the other bullshit in this game, you have to ANTICIPATE drive impact coming out, you can not react to it under normal game. That's why you see pros throwing out a canceable normal, anticipating it.

26f is straight up blind reactable lol. The fricking joke unblockable moves in Tekken come out at like 30f. Kazuya hellsweep is 15 frames and pros can react to it. "But when I do a laggy move I get DI'd!" Yes, that is the point. That's what stops the move from being completely useless. And keep in mind if you DI their DI, you are taking 50% of their life easily. It's high risk, high reward. That is what makes it exciting.

you fricking idiot, DI didn't change that. Most characters have 2-3 really good pokes that at max range recover fast enough for you to react with DI yourself, and the sound of hitting a DI with jab is distinct enough to where you can either jump, DI, or parry.
Or better yet, you can play with DI in your mental stack just like how Third Strike players learned to deal with parry and V players learned to play with V-trigger. Don't blame the game because you're having a hard time adapting to a new mechanic.
Game promote 100% rushdown. Footsies, spacing, and screen control are completely gone. Everything you know about street fighter is basically not here, just get into your opponent and start your pressure into knockdown mixups. In the corner go for throw loop and shimmies, game is really bad right now.

No johns, just learn your character's:
1. Longest reaching basic attack
2. Fastest light
3. Quickest normal you can cancel into a special or dash
Poke with long move until they stop thinking they can just walk in. Interrupt everything they do with fast move until they stop thinking they can press buttons for free. Fish for hits to turn into baby 2-hit combos with cancellable move once they start to respect the other two moves. If they never respect, you poke and light them into submission.
World Tour mode does a great job of teaching you the mechanics and encouraging you to try out different characters' styles.
I was really overwhelmed by the menus at first but as someone who hasn't played a Street Fighter game since Third Strike, I think this is a great point to get back in.
Ah that's good to hear. I only went through the available tutorials in the demo and I feel like I didn't struggle in the execution. Combos and such would probably filter me for a bit.
I also don't like how the basic tutorial gives you options between Modern and Classic controls, yet the character tutorials only deal with Classic controls, was sort of confusing.
I'm used to the classic 6-button control style from the arcade days, so I never tried Modern past the 15 minutes you have to use it in the opening of World Tour.
You can get by just fine without any big combos. I'm still learning how to use drive gauge to extend combos, but learning when moves are safe and how to respond to what your opponent is doing is way more important (the "neutral" game or fundamentals). Combos just give you bigger damage when you successfully punish your opponent.
And ranked matchmaking is surprisingly fun imo, even if you're losing.

Yes. Her proportions and animations are unmistakably feminine. Just the way her hips move and knees are positioned in her animations is enough to tell it's a genuine female.
Game is trash. Drive rush creates a 50/50 scenario from anywhere on screen with plus frames that you can't DI out of. Mental stack in the corner due to being thrown loop, DI. Don't even get me started on Modern controls.

If you know your opponent is using drive rush a lot to set up 50/50s just neutral jump and hit him coming down. Same response works in the corner if you're getting mixed between throws and DI.
Great fricking idea except throw recovery is fast enough that characters like cammy can still anti air DP you while you're still in the air. Same problem SFV had during season 1. Diamond 5 btw, it's even worse than season one SFV.
Great for some characters like Juri and JP, bad for others. Pro players are already using modern controls and seeing a lot of success, really just depends on the character.

It's so funny to me how in world tour it says what a specific super move is good for but it doesn't come with the disclaimer that you might not even be able to get it to come out.
It's harder with faster moves, but with a heavy punch or something put in the motion for super during the startup animation and then hit the P/K when the punch actually lands.
Don't wait until the attack hits to do the whole thing at once.
It's basically impossible if you're doing it out of a super fast attack. As Luke good luck comboing a sand blast into his lvl 3 super for example. But if you're using a heavier attack, or comboing into it out of a longer special then it is absolutely doable, but you basically need to be inputting the motions before you've made confirmation that your attacks have even hit.

Set dummy in training mode to DI randomly. You should quickly see it's very easily reactable. If you can't counter it there is an issue with your setup or your brain, or both. You idiots don't seem to understand that pros react to it consistently. I was watching a Nuckledoo match where he literally countered it at least 8 times through the set and didn't miss once.
It's so fricking good, it's probably one of my favorite moves for Cammy. I feel a lot of people are good with anti airing so I haven't actually been using her divekick that much.

You can. You just can't get perfect parry if you're holding it in block stun/wakeup and the opponent hits you on your first parry frames. Still have to actually time it.

Some chars have easier safe jumps than others, rarity of true safe jumps depends on the character. Lily of all people has a pretty safe jump setup.
Anyway ultimately you can't get into a silver player's head, maybe you're right and they're just mashing, but from what I remember in SF5, silver was above average. Sure, this game's earlier in its lifespan so super silver is more like low plat right now, but I still don't think every single high silver player is a complete flailing moron.

Yep hit bronze and am done with ranked for now. Am an Awful player who is playing on modern and still stubbornly using the left stick as a Luke player. Trying instead to go through every character's tutorial, arcade, and combo trials. Though only up to intermediate since those are impossible for me to get right.
You're probably better off playing WT, you can learn some basic stuff that way with minigames and such. Give it a go once in a while, doing nothing but practice against bots and combo drills isnt good training for actual fights against people

I don't even think it's that bad, lows aren't even designed to be reactable in SF and 17f is borderline reactable. Fireballs, jabs, Honda headbutt, Blanka ball, DI, Parry, invincible reversals can counter it.
DR is honestly the best part of the new mechanics. It makes the neutral and combo system of classic SF more dynamic and that's objectively good. The worst new mechanic is parry, it's only really useful against fireballs. Perfect parry has little risk and they balance it by scaling combos off of it, which basically means parrying isn't even that hype in this game. Perfect parry needs to be mapped to forward again with no scaling for high risk/reward.

No it isn't. Visual cues come into it as well and with visual cues roughly 20f is accepted as the average. Lows are not reactable in SF because they are used as point blank range and are almost always minus. A halfscreen fricking plus on block, comboable low is ridiculous. It's broken. Go see how an almost identical mechanic completely ruined KoFXIV because the game just became about fishing with your far normals into max mode because you were plus on block and got a mixup and got a full combo hit so who gives a frick. It ruins the game and makes neutral a total meme.
It's not a good mechanic unless you want the game to devolve into neutral skipping hyper offense shit at which point you should just be playing tag/anime games.
There is also an audio cue, which humans react to faster than visual cues. There is also the fact you are playing a DJ who you know is going to spam DR, so you should be anticipating it which will heighten your reactions. I'm not saying it shouldn't be nerfed, but DJ's DR being really good doesn't mean the whole system is bad.

There's an extensive amount of options in the training mode that give you a lot of ways to practice against the stuff you're having trouble with.
You can also watch replays of your matches and turn on things like frame data to see where you might have gone wrong. The game has tools to help you improve; if you choose not to use them, that's on you, not the game itself.

On top of all the other bullshit in this game, you have to ANTICIPATE drive impact coming out, you can not react to it under normal game. 26f is straight up blind reactable lol. The fricking joke unblockable moves in Tekken come out at like 30f. Kazuya hellsweep is 15 frames and pros can react to it. "But when I do a laggy move I get DI'd!" Yes, that is the point. That's what stops the move from being completely useless. And keep in mind if you DI their DI, you are taking 50% of their life easily. It's high risk, high reward. That is what makes it exciting.

Or better yet, you can play with DI in your mental stack just like how Third Strike players learned to deal with parry and V players learned to play with V-trigger. Don't blame the game because you're having a hard time adapting to a new mechanic.

1. Longest reaching basic attack
2. Fastest light
3. Quickest normal you can cancel into a special or dash
Poke with long move until they stop thinking they can just walk in. Interrupt everything they do with fast move until they stop thinking they can press buttons for free. Fish for hits to turn into baby 2-hit combos with cancellable move once they start to respect the other two moves. If they never respect, you poke and light them into submission.

World Tour mode does a great job of teaching you the mechanics and encouraging you to try out different characters' styles.
I was really overwhelmed by the menus at first but as someone who hasn't played a Street Fighter game since Third Strike, I think this is a great point to get back in.
Ah that's good to hear. I only went through the available tutorials in the demo and I feel like I didn't struggle in the execution. Combos and such would probably filter me for a bit.
I also don't like how the basic tutorial gives you options between Modern and Classic controls, yet the character tutorials only deal with Classic controls, was sort of confusing.
I'm used to the classic 6-button control style from the arcade days, so I never tried Modern past the 15 minutes you have to use it in the opening of World Tour.
You can get by just fine without any big combos. I'm still learning how to use drive gauge to extend combos, but learning when moves are safe and how to respond to what your opponent is doing is way more important (the "neutral" game or fundamentals). Combos just give you bigger damage when you successfully punish your opponent.
And ranked matchmaking is surprisingly fun imo, even if you're losing.
Oh yeah, I forgot to ask is why blood and bruises in single player only but not online play. Is it a toggle for online?

If you know your opponent is using drive rush a lot to set up 50/50s just neutral jump and hit him coming down. Same response works in the corner if you're getting mixed between throws and DI.
Great fricking idea except throw recovery is fast enough that characters like cammy can still anti air DP you while you're still in the air. Same problem SFV had during season 1. Diamond 5 btw, it's even worse than season one SFV.

It's harder with faster moves, but with a heavy punch or something put in the motion for super during the startup animation and then hit the P/K when the punch actually lands.
Don't wait until the attack hits to do the whole thing at once.
It's basically impossible if you're doing it out of a super fast attack. As Luke good luck comboing a sand blast into his lvl 3 super for example. But if you're using a heavier attack, or comboing into it out of a longer special then it is absolutely doable, but you basically need to be inputting the motions before you've made confirmation that your attacks have even hit.

Yep hit bronze and am done with ranked for now. Am an Awful player who is playing on modern and still stubbornly using the left stick as a Luke player. Trying instead to go through every character's tutorial, arcade, and combo trials. Though only up to intermediate since those are impossible for me to get right.
You're probably better off playing WT, you can learn some basic stuff that way with minigames and such. Give it a go once in a while, doing nothing but practice against bots and combo drills isnt good training for actual fights against people

As a former Silver Kimberly that made it into Gold 2 days ago, just stop relying on her gimmicks as heavily, learn to play neutral properly, abuse the frick out of drive rush and you should make it out of Silver.
Gimmicks work until about plat 2. At least that's what I assume given what I've seen from plat 1 players.

Every fighting game has people say the grappler looks sick when the game is new. As for gief he's WAY better than he was at any point in 5, but not as good as USF4, which is probably his strongest version ever.

I don't get it either, it keeps randomly disconnecting even in the middle of matchmaking. I've gone paranoid and started running extensive long connection tests so it's definitely not fricking me
I'm glad the random disconnects aren't as frequent as they are in Strive, but it sucks twice as hard in this game when it disconnects because you actually have to work hard to win a match
