I've spent the past hour reloading, brushing and shoving eggs down these cluckadoodle's throats and it had yet to succeed. The chances of actually succeeding seem so fricking random that I refuse to believe it's something so simple as "chance of succeeding which increases after brushing."

I have thrown literally hundreds of items at monsters multiple times in a row and saw it fail every single time. I have gotten multiple first-attempt tames multiple times in a row. Not even talking about random items compared to favored items, I mean using random shit like grass.

You can fill every slot, even empty ones with level 10s then upgrade it with more level 10s
You can scythe turnip seeds for the non-required material then rng the rest
The basic ass tier 1 broadsword can carry through the entire game when upgraded this way Also level crafting by selecting the highest level craft then slotting a single failed item like smithing use one scrap or alchemy use one X

I'm conflicted on spears. I actually like how the combo feels now but it has a glaring problem with pushing enemies too far away in the middle of it so you can't connect all the hits unless you're attacking a boss or something else heavy that doesn't get thrown around.

Same problem as before then. I love spears but the range is useless in RF when you can only poke a single enemy and chasing them sucks. Dual blades are always op because you're so fast and just slash everything in your way and automatically chase them down in the combo. 2Handers are slow but hit hard and magic is either op or okay. Spear is always the worst weapon.
Hammers/Axes are the worst weapon in 5. They're so slow, that even your farm weapons outspeed them. The only good thing about them is the dash attack, but the Spear dash attack is better so they're pointless.

They are both very simple nowadays, but they are still good. I really liked Tree of Tranquility too, but the extreme loading times ruined it. RF4 has the best gameplay.

Gaben is correct, piracy is a service problem. I'd rather pay for a game and convenient services than pirate it, but I'd rather Ganker tells me beforehand that a game is gay and not buy it at all.
